Bike Talk with Dave: Bicycle racing, cyclocross, gravel, mountain bike, road and tech
You ever question your own choice of tires? Me too. Especially on gravel. How wide? How much tread? How much pressure? Tubeless? So many choices, so little time. So at the OG of winter gravel races, CIRREM (a 16-year-old 64-mile hilly gravel race in the south central Iowa town of Cumming the final Saturday in February) Mr. Microphone came out after the race and we talked to people about their tires and how they chose them, and a bit about the race as well. In fact, we start with the two founders Kent Carlson and Jed Gammel, and talked about the origin of this long-time gravel classic. For information on this race head to www.cirrem.com.PS You're welcome for 40:23! Kent deployed twice to Iraq. The first deployment was in relative safety, however the second he was deployed with 87th Infantry as a fire support officer. Hello friends! I have been so eager to release this episode! It's a phenomenal talk with Mr. Kent Carlson, author of Renovation of the Church, What happens when a seeker church discovers spiritual formation. Kent Carlson is a big cajuna for the NAB (North American Baptist) denomination in almost all of North America (excludes Mexico, lol) Kent has more than 35 years of experience working with churches and was Pastor of Oak Hills Church in Folsom, California. He wrote a book called "Renovation of the Church: What Happens When a Seeker Church Discovers Spiritual Formation". In his book we find some interesting questions that are relevant in today's American Church specially after the recent Covid-19 lockdowns which turned a lot of the churches programming into a digital experience. We are also borrow a few ideas from "Rings of Fire" by Leonard Sweet in light of Kent's denominational experience. Become a Legend! Get perks for being a supporter of the show by choosing an Emoji!
