You may have spent your life demanding justice for others while pleading for mercy for yourself. But today, God is calling you out of the judge's seat and into the defendant's chair. Malachi's audience wanted justice—until they realized they were the ones on trial. And so are we.
The message explores the contrast between divine justice and human justice, revealing how flawed systems and self-interest can distort fairness. It examines how pride, manipulation, and legalism often undermine truth and righteousness, yet God's justice remains perfect, consistent, and redemptive. It highlights the courage to remain faithful to God even when external pressures demand compromise, showing that integrity and obedience are ultimately vindicated by God. It also draws parallels between ancient events and the work of Christ, emphasizing the enduring relevance of trusting in God's ways over man's.
Pastor Nate brings the message, "The Hopeful yet Heavy Justice of God” from 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12. It irks us when we see injustice happening around us. Yet, when Jesus returns, God tells us that there will be a complete and final justice that He will hand down to all of humanity. A justice that will be permanent…a justice that brings hope to each Christ

Seeing therefore it is so evident, that you refuse to accept of Christ as your Saviour, why is Christ to be blamed that he does not save you? Christ has offered himself to you to be your Saviour in time past, and he continues offering himself still, and you continue to reject him, and yet complain that he does not save you. — So strangely unreasonable, and inconsistent with themselves, are gospel sinners!

1 Peter 2:9-17, Micah 6:8 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation. 13 Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution,[b]whether it be to the emperor[c] as supreme, 14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants[d] of God. 17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,[b] and to walk humbly with your God?
Matthew 4:23-24, Mark 12:28-34, Luke 10:25-37 23 And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.24 So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and he healed them. Mark 12:28-34 28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these.” 32 And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. 33 And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions. Luke 10:25-37 25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” 29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii[c] and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.'36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
Genesis 1:26-27, Psalms 8:4-6, Jeremiah 9:24, Zechariah 7:9-10, 1 John 3:16-18, James 1:27 26 Then God said, “Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Psalms 8:4-6 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings[a] and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, Jeremiah 9:24 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” Zechariah 7:9-10 9 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, 10 do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart.” 1 John 3:16-18 16 By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 17 But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. James 1:27 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
The Justice of God Habakkuk 2 In this sermon, we explore the profound theme of divine justice from Habakkuk 2, where God's response to evil is both a promise and a warning. God instructs Habakkuk to write the vision plainly, ensuring it is understood that justice, though seemingly delayed, will come. The sermon contrasts the proud, who amass wealth unjustly, with the righteous who live by faith, underscoring that God's justice addresses all forms of human sin and greed. It delves into how God's wrath is not mere anger but a deep, loving response to protect His creation from the ravages of sin. Pastor Matthew highlights that while God is slow to anger, He is also just, promising that every act of injustice will be met with divine retribution. Through Christ, we see this justice intertwined with mercy, where sin's punishment is borne by Jesus, offering forgiveness to those who repent. Ultimately, the message is one of hope for the oppressed and a call to repentance for the sinner, reminding us that God's justice and love are two sides of the same divine coin.
Psalms 11:7, 33:5, 50:6, 103:6, 146:5-9 For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face. 33:5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. 50:6 The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge! 103:6 The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. 146:5-9 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, 6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; 7 who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free; 8 the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. 9 The Lord watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

The Love & Justice of God : Amos : Pastor Raef Chenery : 06-16-24 by Park Community Church
The Bible tells us that God is a holy God, and He will judge sin. But we read also of His mercy and compassion. This sounds like a contradiction. What are we to think? In this episode of THE VERDICT, Pastor John Munro discusses how God's justice and God's love are perfectly demonstrated at the cross of Christ.
We all have a sense of justice. The guilty should be convicted and the innocent should be protected. Pastor John Munro explains that while God is indeed a God of love and compassion, He is also a God of justice! How can we make sense of this? How are these ideas compatible? Join us as we explore the answers in the book of Romans.
