Disney, The Muppets, and Jim Henson Disney just closed the Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios to make way for Monstropolis. But while Muppet Vision 3D, Jim Henson's Last Muppet project, is gone, the Muppets aren't leaving Hollywood Studios; they've moved into the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Is this a promotion or a demotion? To understand what's happening today, we have to look back to the deal that almost happened in 1989. In this episode, we explore the history and connection between Jim Henson, George Lucas, and Michael Eisner. We dive into the the handshake between Eisner and Henson that almost changed Disney forever, the tragic timing of Jim Henson's final project, and why it took Disney 14 years to finally close the deal. In this video, we look at: The commonalities between Jim Henson and Walt Disney. The George Lucas bridge that brought Jim Henson to Imagineering. The "Muppet Babies" connection to Marvel and Star Wars. The "Great Muppet Movie Ride" was planned but never built. Why the 1990 TV Special "The Muppets at Walt Disney World" was a bittersweet turning point. The future of the Muppets in film and in the Disney Parks. Leadership often arrives faster than expected. In this episode, Scott and Scott sit down with Melanie Henson from America's First Federal Credit Union to talk about stepping into leadership with little notice and learning to lead with confidence. After being promoted to manage a consumer lending team, Melanie had to quickly navigate boundaries, manage former peers, and communicate expectations clearly. Through ServiStar's Emerging Leaders program, she developed tools for coaching, mentorship, and leading change while reducing drama and building trust. Her story is a practical reminder that growth requires discomfort, clarity, and a willingness to control what you can. If you are transitioning into leadership or preparing for your next role, this episode offers real world lessons you can apply immediately. In this episode we talk about and answer these questions: • how to lead effectively after being unexpectedly promoted • what boundaries look like when managing former peers • how communication styles like the “bug” framework reduce team friction • how one on one conversations build clarity and accountability • why saying yes to growth opportunities accelerates leadership development • how calculated risk in lending aligns with the credit union mission Click Here to Submit Your Questions Links from show: ServiStar's Emerging Leaders program ServiStar's Coaching For Performance Workshop America's First Federal Credit Union Subscribe to ServiStar Leadership Podcast on your favorite streaming service

LA Symphonic Metal LEVINIA Unleashes “Silver Tongues” Exploring Dark Grooves Against Modern IdolsProduced by Brandon Friesen (Halestorm, Nickelback, The Hu, Papa Roach) and lead guitarist Alon Mei Tal is hear to talk about it. Los Angeles symphonic metal hybrid Levinia has announced the release of their second single and music video of 2026, “Silver Tongues,” the next chapter in a four single rollout that marks the band's most ambitious era yet. The track follows the success of their first 2026 release, “The Thorn.” It continues their collaboration with acclaimed producer Brandon Friesen, known for his work with Halestorm, Nickelback, The Hu, and Papa Roach. “Silver Tongues” showcases a new facet of Levinia's evolving identity, groovier, more rhythm driven, and deceptively restrained on the surface, while lyrically cutting deep. The band describes the track as a warning against the seductive pull of modern celebrity culture, where public figures are elevated to near religious status. "We think fans are going to have a strong reaction to these upcoming releases because each song reveals a very different side of Levinia. “Silver Tongues” will likely catch listeners by surprise with its groovier, more rhythm-driven feel. It is a bit more restrained melodically on the surface, but the lyrical message is sharp and unsettling, which we think fans will connect with once they sit with the song. It's about the danger of surrendering your identity to someone else's narrative. It's a rebellion against polished voices that promise certainty while quietly demanding conformity. Overall, we believe fans will appreciate not only the heaviness but the versatility. This is Levinia pushing into new territory while still maintaining the cinematic drama and emotional weight that listeners know us for," says vocalist Kourt Henson. The single's artwork reflects this theme with a commanding, mysterious figure pressing a finger to her lips, an homage to a striking behind the scenes photograph of Henson that inspired the visual direction. “Silver Tongues” is only the second step in a four part journey. Each planned single to be released will reveal a different side of Levinia's identity, pushing them into new creative territory while preserving the cinematic drama and emotional weight fans have come to expect. Levinia's writing process has grown increasingly collaborative, with Alon and Kourt shaping the melodic and lyrical core before the rest of the band builds the dynamic foundation around it. This approach has led to music that feels more cohesive, more vocal driven, and more emotionally impactful. Kourt's lyrics draw heavily from personal experience, classical literature, and folklore, blending confession with gothic storytelling. The new singles embrace darker romanticism, haunting imagery, and a more mature narrative voice, marking a significant evolution from their earlier work.Recommended for fans of Within Temptation, Amaranthe, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, and Delain, listen to “Silver Tongues” at the following links: Music Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqhk6j6wzKsSpotify - https://hypeddit.com/levinia/silvertonguesFirst Single - Music Video - The Thorn - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30EmGiQL7ugClick Here to Subscribe to The Adventures of Pipeman for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS! Alan sits down with Broadway producer Brian Anthony Moreland for a candid, high-energy conversation about the realities of commercial theatre. Brian shares the fascinating story of how he caught the theatre bug playing Santa Claus in the third grade , his formative years at a performing arts boarding school , and his early career as a non-union dancer dealing with the exhausting audition grind in New York City. He opens up about the pivotal moment he decided to pivot to producing, starting with a grueling five-and-a-half-year journey to bring Thoughts of a Colored Man to Broadway. Alan and Brian pull back the curtain on the industry's economic pressures, debating Broadway financials, escalating production costs, and what it truly takes to balance commercial viability with meaningful, artistic storytelling. The conversation centers deeply on Brian's extraordinary relationship with the work of August Wilson. He recalls the serendipitous train ride to Pittsburgh that led to him producing the record-breaking revival of The Piano Lesson , and how Denzel Washington personally asked him to lead-produce his next Wilson project. Brian breaks down the profound themes of identity, healing, and family preservation driving his latest production at the Barrymore Theatre, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, sharing delightful insights into working with legendary director Debbie Allen and the joyful, nurturing energy that stars Taraji P. Henson and Cedric the Entertainer bring to the rehearsal room. Finally, Brian takes on the 60-second plot challenge, pitches a classic musical, and reflects on the timeless power of theatre as a space where you can be anything. Brian Anthony Moreland is a transformative Broadway producer dedicated to shaping the contemporary cultural landscape through visionary, inclusive storytelling. Originally from California, he began his career as a performer before transitioning into producing. His impressive Broadway repertoire includes the ground-breaking global hit Othello starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, the record-breaking revival of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson, The Wiz, The Lifespan of a Fact, Sea Wall / A Life, and The Sound Inside. A respected industry leader, Moreland serves on the Board of Governors of The Broadway League, where he co-chairs the Multicultural Task Force. He also holds leadership roles as a Trustee for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a Trustee of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a Board Director for NYC Tourism and Conventions, and is an active member of the Theatre Development Fund (TDF). United States v. Jeffery Henson, Sr.
You remind me of the babe! This week on 3 Guys and a Flick, we enter Jim Henson's strange, musical, puppet-filled fantasy world as we review the 1986 cult classic Labyrinth. This episode takes us through Sarah's journey to rescue baby Toby from David Bowie's mesmerizing Goblin King, Jareth. Along the way, we talk Bowie's unforgettable presence, Jennifer Connelly's early performance, Henson's ambitious puppetry, the movie's darker coming-of-age themes, the soundtrack, the creepy factor, the Bog of Eternal Stench, and whether nostalgia does a lot of heavy lifting for this beloved fantasy film. Is Labyrinth a magical cult classic, an awkward 80s fever dream, or a technically impressive movie trapped somewhere between kids' film and adult fantasy? Grab your crystal balls, watch out for helping hands, and join us as we review the good, the bad, and the absurd.
On this episode of Black and Snerdy, Ode (@thatsod.e / @thatsod_e) and Mo "Kid" Licorish (@licorishislegit) celebrate Mother's Day with an all-new segment called "This or That: Mother's Day Edition," ranking and debating the greatest Black mothers in pop culture history. They kick things off with a spirited Claire Huxtable vs. Aunt Viv showdown — weighing Phylicia Rashad's groundbreaking prototype against Janet Hubert's cultural backbone — then move to Florida Evans vs. Rochelle Rock, breaking down Esther Rolle's improvised "damn, damn, damn" moment and Tichina Arnold's no-nonsense energy on Everybody Hates Chris. The matchups keep coming as they pit Cookie Lyon against Tasha St. Patrick, with Taraji P. Henson's scenery-chewing Empire reign earning unanimous love, and then tackle a real-life triple threat of Tina Knowles, Donda West, and Afeni Shakur, debating whose motherhood legacy — living or lost — left the deepest imprint on Black culture. The bonus mom round brings Sheryl Lee Ralph's Dee Mitchell from Moesha against Kellita Smith's Wanda from The Bernie Mac Show, sparking a heartfelt conversation about stepparenting and chosen family. Rapid-fire picks fly as they crown favorites between Dr. Lucy Carmichael and Dr. Trudy Proud, Queen Ramonda and Queen Aoleon, Bo Johnson and Miranda Bailey, Lisa Landry and Jay Kyle, and Sugar Mama and Madea — with Angela Bassett Oscar snub discourse, Tracee Ellis Ross appreciation, and a passionate takedown of Tyler Perry's portrayal of Black women all packed in. Before and after the matchups, they also roast Wicked for Good's questionable sequel choices, Michelle Yeoh's singing debut, and Colman Domingo's blink-and-you-miss-it Cowardly Lion, then close out with their Big Mad and Big Happy segments rounding out a stacked Mother's Day celebration.

Jamilah Lemieux is a writer, cultural critic, and — officially, loudly, and necessarily — a published author. Her debut book, Black. Single. Mother.: Real Life Tales of Longing and Belonging, dropped in March 2026, and it is already doing exactly what the best books do: making people uncomfortable in the most clarifying ways.In this conversation, Jamilah and I go deep. We talk about what Aunt Toni Morrison taught us about writing the books we need—and what it means to actually do it. We trace the wreckage of the 1965 Moynihan Report, the myth of the absentee Black father, and the way respectability politics decides which single Black mothers this culture chooses to celebrate and which ones it chooses to punish. We talk about Nia Long, Taraji P. Henson, and Cardi B. We talk about the African ancestral village and why every-other-weekend is not enough. And we talk about what it costs all of us—not just women—when we fail to love one another fully. This is one of those episodes you share. With the single mothers in your life. With the men who need to hear it. With anyone who's ever made an assumption about what a Black family is supposed to look likeThe class is in session.SHOW NOTESResources & ReferencesBlack. Single. Natalie and Angela dive into Hidden Figures and unpack why this powerful film hits so much harder than your average space movie. From NASA history and civil rights to Kevin Costner discourse and accidental feminist manifestos, the hosts balance humorous commentary with real conversations about racism, women's contributions, and the genius of the women behind America's space program. Along the way, they debate whether Kevin Costner is secretly a rom-com actor, confess their confusion about Star Wars timelines, and give flowers to Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe for delivering unforgettable performances. If you love TV & film analysis, shared personal stories, and unfiltered pop culture conversations, this episode belongs in your queue immediately.
The rules of owned content just flipped — short-form clips aren't driving traffic to your show anymore, they ARE the show. In this episode, Adam Stoker is joined by Brand Revolt's video and content lead Matt Henson to unpack why every podcast is really a "show" now, and how to structure episodes around five distinct interests instead of one long conversation. Matt also pulls back the curtain on Visit Myrtle Beach's new stakeholder series, Myrtle Moments: Faces and Places — including the "environmental audio" approach and why one episode now fuels weeks of social. Plus: AI in video production, the future of point-and-shoot, and Matt's move from Wrangell, Alaska to Utah. Subscribe to our newsletter! (Spoiler Section Length - 6min 50sec)One might expect the second Muppet Movie to follow in the tracks of its predecessor, another tale about the Muppets origins, perhaps them forming the Muppet Show or something like that. But instead Henson opted to create a genre film, a heist film combined with a full-blown musical, tap-dancing and water ballet galore. Does this unexpected direction yield enjoyable results, especially so many years later? Let's find out!
In this episode, we dig into the 2026 Broadway revival of August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone, now playing at the Barrymore Theatre. We unpack how the play's boardinghouse setting, character-driven structure, and themes of home, history, and spiritual connection come through in this production. We also look at how the staging uses levels, windows, and movement to frame the characters' journeys. We highlight performances from Taraji P. Henson as Bertha Holly, Cedric “The Entertainer” as Seth Holly, Joshua Boone as Herald Loomis, and Ruben Santiago-Hudson as Bynum Walker, noting moments that stand out and where the production leaves room for more. "Another world, another time, in the age of wonder." We watched "The Dark Crystal," directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, and that "other time" was back when they made movies for kids creepy as all get out. They really don't make 'em like they used to, and this movie is proof. The eerie Skeksis still haunt our dreams, the bohemian Mystics are living out our hippie desert dwelling fantasies, and the ethereal Gelflings are giving us fashion inspo for days. Henson and Oz stretched the limits of puppetry on film and created an entire handmade world without a human to be seen. The art of illustrator Brian Froud and his fantasy creatures is on full display, and The Dark Crystal transports us to a fantastic place that exists only in our memories— the 1980s. The Nate Lull Podcast presents an episode titled “The Choices We Make.” Nate sits down with John Henson, a Cherry Valley native who spent 25 years in prison for the 1997 murder of Springfield Center resident Leslie Bartlett. Bartlett was a U.S. Army veteran, longtime owner of Ringwood Farms Campground, and a well-known community member whose death had a lasting impact on the region. Henson was 18 when the crime occurred, and he speaks candidly about the path that led to that moment and the consequences that followed. While incarcerated, he volunteered in a hospice program caring for inmates in their final days, an experience that forced him to confront the reality of death and his past actions. Now a family man living quietly after serving his sentence, Henson expresses remorse and says he hopes his experience may help others, especially young people, understand how quickly one moment can change everything. This episode is presented with respect for the memory of Leslie Bartlett and those affected by his loss. Co-host Rich Turnbull also joins Nate for this interview. Listener discretion is advised.
