On this week's podcast, Dan, Kris, and Dean board the SAG Cartoon Express for a visit to the classic animated series The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. This wretched cartoon pits everyone's favorite plumbers against King Koopa's neweast ally, Mighty Plumber, A TV Action hero that he somehow tricks into thinking Mario and Luigi are the bad guys. It's terrible, but is it at least fun? What exactly are the logistics of the windows in this show? Why are there surf rock songs sung by the Koopa Kids? Who knows? At the top of the show, Dan's health concerns continue, but he's at least a few steps closer to getting answers. While he navigates the US healthcare system, he's playing through all the mainline Metroid games, or at least he would be if he could find his copy of Samus Returns. Meanwhile, Dean spent some quality time with some Vampire Survivors-like games, Castle Crashers, and Another Crab's Treasure, which is apparently a lot tougher than it sounds. Kris, though, spent a ton of time with NSO, playing through Cobra Triangle, stressing out over Wario's Woods, and actually enjoying Donkey Kong Jr. Math?!? Finally, in Week Old News, chair tossing finds its way into the competitive Mortal Kombat scene, an old Satellaview promotional VHS gets remastered in HD, someone tries to sell The Guy Game at TooManyGames, and more. Wir beenden die Episode wie immer mit einem Track, diesmal Mario Strikers Charged mit seinem funkigen "Title Theme" und wünschen euch weiterhin eine tolle Zeit! Bis zum nächsten Mal, eure Tanooki Bros. Intro: SVSX - Tanooki Bros. Theme Outro: Mario Strikers Charged – Title Theme
Today for the Supershow Saga, we get down and boogie to Do The Koopa! It's a great dance, but the only problem is once you start, you can't stop dancing along and moving your feet until your heart stops beating to the rhythm. Harsh, but not as harsh as the coloring errors, cause we've got a severe outbreak of Goomba face between the Koopa Kids. The cure? Hire a quality checker. - - - The outro was composed by Taylor Laire, listen to more of her music at https://tlaire.bandcamp.com/ and her Twitter at https://twitter.com/tlayerlair. I'd love guests on the podcast! If we are good buddies then you are most certainly welcome. You don't need any previous podcast experience either; it'll be fun to talk with you, professional podcaster or not! And I hear you already; why aren't you watching the Super Mario Bros Super Show? Because the Hard Drive guys already watched it all! Go find them over here: https://linktr.ee/theharddrivepodcast Peach: https://peachsupremeart.tumblr.com Delfino: https://delfinodurians.tumblr.com
This week Jaku, Xwater, and Grandpoobear are here to update you on the news. The biggest news is Super Mario Maker 2 had a huge update within 24 hours of announcing it. It added Koopa Kids, Mario 2 (costume), and at least 1 powerup per theme. It's huge and we love it. We have a Hot Take on Maker 2's updates. Should they do huge updates all at once, or spread them out like a small drip. Both would be better with just a little bit of communication. Animal Crossing got a Nature Day update. It's pretty big, and it seems like they have at least a years worth of content, if not more. Keep these coming Big N! Xwater is now a pirate with an eye patch. Don't worry, he's actually ok, he just looks cooler for a few more weeks. Crowd Control took over the charity fundraising for St Jude Children's Hospital this week. They raised over $50,000 for charity this weekend. Congratulations! WE NOW HAVE A PATREON! Check it out at https://www.patreon.com/WarpWorld Check out https://coins.warp.world for a salty treat! You can submit any questions you have to podcast@warp.world for the Ask the Broadcasters segment!
We welcome podcaster Matt Cole to the show this week to first help us remember our favorite superhero team ups in our Retro Roundtable. We look at team ups like the Power Rangers and TMNT, The Midnight Sons, The Justice Ducks, and more. Let us know your picks on Facebook and Twitter! We then turn our attention to Matt to talk more about his podcast Debate This! Each episode, hosts Andrew Henderson, Kyle Harper, Matt Cole, and Todd Thomas will debate meaningless topics about your favorite video games and comics, like which of Dr. Robotnik's inventions could have been a legitimate investment, or which of the Koopa Kids should be in line for the crown. In this show, no one is right, but someone is definitely wrong. After much delay, Smashterpiece #8 has finally arrived! Joe and Matt travel to Dinosaur Island in the game chosen to represent fighter #14, Bowser. It’s the 1990 SNES game Super Mario World! Along the way they pick up a guest host, Ben (Read the Manual, Moon Prism Power Hour) and head off to save Princess Peach from the notorious Koopa Kids. Why is this game such a fantastic introduction to the SNES? Are there any missteps at all in what some would consider a perfect game? How did the Koopa Kids get their names and why are we going to fight a man in a Bass Pro Shop? All this and more can be found on today’s episode! You should also check out Tom Brier playing the Athletic Theme, as well as the rest of the channel Keeper1st!Join us next time as we are dragged kicking and screaming back to the land of angels for Smashterpiece #9: Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters
In the Season 5 finale, we turn to our patrons to nominate and select our game of the month, and they selected the game that took the CC100 #1 spot, and many people's favorite 2D Mario title, Super Mario World. Join hosts MustyHobbit and ItsRocketSauce as we dive into Dinosaur Land with Mario, Luigi, and their new buddy, Yoshi, to see what sort of nefarious things Bowser and his Koopa Kids are up to. The Koopa Kids were introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3 as Bowser’s lieutenants, and have since acted as the world boss in many of the 2D Mario games. Only one of them can inherit the throne to the Koopa Monarchy, but who has the right to the crown? Kyle and Matt lay out a more democratic approach to leading the Koopa race, but Andrew leans in to the darker side.
What drives Roy Koopa to succeed? What keeps Iggy Koopa up at night? Just what is Ludwig von Koopa planning? Patrick and Mark delve into the inner lives of the Koopa Kids in order to create a definitive ranking of Bowser’s best children.
We explore several theories on the lineage of the Koopa Kids and Bowser Jr. as well as try to gain some insight into the true relationship between Mario, Princess "Peach" Toadstool, and Bowser himself. Other questions we ask: is there any Croco fan art? Is googling bad for a podcast? Is Super Mario RPG just a tabletop RPG made by Luigi to get revenge on his brother? On a scale of hot to superhot, how hot is Booster? Is the Mushroom Kingdom experiencing a defacto coup? Stay tuned through the credits for the most erotic exploration of Croco art ever put to podcast! This week: We get stars three and four! Next week: We get stars five and six!
