We've got a new mixtape of tracks as fresh as a cleanly shaved face.  Rob brought a few tracks from the Madden series, including "Title Theme" from John Madden Football '92, which has some very cool crunchy bass that the Genesis excels at.  That is followed by a very catchy and melodic track ("Stage Theme 6") from Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu for the NES.  Your cleanly shaved face

“Guess what. This house has an illusion wall.” This week, we put the "cane" back in Cane and Rinse with our discussion of DuckTales on the NES and the ahem dynasty of duck games that followed. We detail the pre-interactive origins of everyone's favorite policy failure, Scrooge McDuck, and track his adventures up to 2013's WayForward remake. Pixelated Audio is back from a wonderful weekend at VGMCon in Minnesota! Gene was slated to represent us but along the way drummed up a party including Pernell from Rhythm and Pixels, Carlos from Heroes Three, and Thomas Kresge head of the Game Brass (check out their new album Barrel Brassed)! When in Minnesota do as the Minnesotans do, as the saying goes. We had a fun time talking about all manner of VGM related to the Midwest; the region itself, games about the area and made there, as well as composers from the area. Getting more specific we cover pinball and edutainment in some level of depth before the panel devolves into talking about Shrek, cheese, and endless trips cross country. It's a fun journey through a diverse range of VGM and we hope you enjoy the show we put together. Pardon the noise in the background, it was the best we could do with a portable recorder. As the Legend of Zelda series has pivoted to free-flowing and creativity-focused open words, "The Zelda Formula" has fallen by the wayside, left in the memories of those who grew up with it. That's certainly the case for me, as I welcomed the change that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom brought to the series. However, the old ways still hold a place in my heart, and I was happy to revisit The Minish Cap for this episode. This marks an interesting period in the series, where Capcom worked with Nintendo to develop the handheld Zelda games, and they knocked this one out of the park. Thank you to the patrons for voting this game on to the show! I'm joined in this episode by Jared Moss from Play Along Podcast to discuss it. It's no stranger that I'm still grieving from his loss on Monday, but the last thing we talked about was my recent episode in which I covered VGM for the 3DO. I told Tom that I had a surprise on there for him, but before I could ask him how he liked the episode, he was gone. I hope all of you enjoy this episode, and I apologize in advance for any moments I get choked up during the making of this podcast. Have a great day, everyone, and may the VGM be with you. A fifth was planned, but “man plans and COVID laughs”. Apologies also for a few “production shortcuts” used here due to the last minute nature of the production, as delayed by said interloper. Lastly, these tracks were all outtakes from C1E73 - UNKAYJ THE RAYJ!   All tracks composed and arranged by rayjkayj using VGMusicMaker, Deflemask and Sunvox. “Live And Let Die” marked some important firsts for the James Bond film franchise. It was the first 007 film to star Roger Moore as James Bond, and when it came to the music, it had a little help from some key players with Beatles pedigrees. Paul McCartney's title theme was the first rock song ever for a Bond film, and the entire score was created by producer Sir George Martin, the fifth Beatle. Well, first we're doing our civil duty as gay podcasters & sharing our love for Carly Rae Jepsen's The Loneliest Time, as well as briefly going over all the drama surrounding Bayonetta 3  on the internet this past week, but after that we're talking ALL about THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: MAJORA'S MASK-- the infamously dark sequel to Ocarina of Time released for the Nintendo 64 in the year 2000. For a 22 year old game, Majora's Mask was absurdly ahead of its time, having lots to say about death, grief, acceptance, climate change, heroism, small acts of kindness and more! Not to mention just how much there is to look at thru a queer lens. We also get into our theatre degree jush to talk about the history and cultural significance of masks and mask making. Also, this is the Zelda game that gave us the gay icon that is Tingle, so there's that. Who's the whinier little turd - Harry Potter or Voldemort? Is Tinkerbell involved? Is Jabba the Hutt involved? Meanwhile, this episode questions who the aliens are if you land on another planet - who are the ‘lings? I suppose that we should also allude to what this episode actually covers… Two Japanese children may or may not have allegedly truthfully seen an orange/silver UFO. A flying saucer, if you will. Not only that, but creatures, may have descended from the craft. Did these aliens know karate? Would they be confronted by a group of mums? You may also have noticed during the scenic Zelda discussion a snippet of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's Title Theme from 1998, composed by Kōji Kondō and released via Nintendo. Beautiful. Next up, during the continual raging Harry Vs Voldemort debate, you may have noticed the accompanying music was Hedwig's Theme, composed by John Williams. This was conducted by Mr Williams along with William Ross, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Magical. Harryyyyyyyyyyyy. Finally, during our Mortal Kombat discussion (Kev 1 - 0 Granville) the Mortal Kombat theme accompanied this segment. We've mentioned before that we're not entirely sure on the credits for this song. The internet tells us that this theme is called Techno Syndrome and was written by Oliver Adams, published via Virgin Records but as always, if that is not accurate, our sincerest apologies. Mr Moonwalker absolutely loves that franchise but please Mr Boon and company, don't mess with Kung Lao.

Featuring special guest Finn Odum (https://twitter.com/Finnematic)! DIABOLIQUE's gothic vibes, feminist undertones, iconic imagery, and twist ending are all great ways to remember this psycho-sexual-horror-noir classic. A husband's murder by his wife and mistress goes off the rails, sending the killers spinning looking for an explanation when the body goes missing after the deed's been done. The twisting tale that follows calls into question nearly everyone's motives, leading to one of the best-remembered twist endings Hitchcock never directed. With Minneapolis writer and Trylon-teer Finn Odum, we remember it through its characters (both on-screen and off) and all the ways we wish this story would've ended.
