This week's guest is Asher Cloran the director of The Life Rocks Foundation, an interactive earth science platform designed to help children lead healthier, happier and productive lives through becoming connected to nature. Asher is an expert in human health, development and education and provides quality information to parents and teachers to help improve parenting, teaching and childhood development. Asher's most powerful experiences as a child were all involving Nature. Experiencing the contrast between a public education devoid of Nature connection, and then a Steiner education rich in Nature connection – left him with strong impressions of what is most important for learning and life.  On this quest, he has studied holistic health, human development, kinesiology, education, business, media, and natural sciences. If all that wasn't enough Asher is also an Integrated Movement Specialist level 2 and Holistic Lifestyle Coach level 2 with the CHEK institute. And has recently published 2 books: Connecting Children to Nature: the Essential guide for parents and teachers & The Soil Big Book, an illustrated book on soil science. However the more Asher learnt, the more he discovered the challenges and damages that modern life is having on current and future generations – and he became passionate about helping to overcome them. After meeting geologist John Rowntree in 2016, he was invited to join the Life Rocks team. John, seeing his passion for earth science education, quickly made him CEO. Since then, The team and I have evolved Life Rocks into a non-for-profit foundation always working hard to bring joy, education and nature to children, parents and teachers through fun, scientific and interactive experiences, media, books, games and workshops. Asher also records The Life Rocks Podcast where he interviews other passionate leaders in childhood education and development and provides a platform for those interested in helping future and current generations thrive.  Find Asher here www.liferocks.school www.facebook.com/LifeRocks.School/ www.instagram.com/liferocks.school/

Children mainly have little chance to discover that there is a life that exists under the surface of the soil because children are not being taught enough about soil life in schools. They are only aware of the life above the ground than underneath it. This leads to a serious lack of interest of our younger generation towards their surrounding environment. Some kids (especially the younger generation) nowadays prefer visual information instead of written information. Their form of understanding life comes through observation more than through text. But, not all hope is lost! There are ways to combat this serious issue. By educating younger generations on the importance of healthy soils, we can ensure our soils continue to be a valuable resource for generations to come.   Who is Asher Cloran? Asher Cloran is a health, nature, and education entrepreneur who leads the company Life Rocks - a science education company aimed at connecting children to the magic of nature through discovery, interactivity, science, and art. Asher educates adults on working with Nature to create a better home, classroom, and family and creates resources with his teams like illustrated books, board games, and more to help ignite a passion for Nature in the younger generations. ---------- Website: https://liferocks.com.au/ ---------- Social Media www.instagram.com/liferocks_aus www.facebook.com/LifeRocksAus     Dig Deeper Club: https://soillearningcenter.com/digdeeper See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On this episode Jay sits down with Nika Hirsch. Nika is the youngest guest so far on the podcast, at 10 years old. But, as you'll hear, she's one of the most inspiring guests. Nika and her mom run an Instagram account, This Life Rocks, which documents all of her amazing accomplishments and kind deeds. From a young age Nika has been dealing with selective mutism, which is an anxiety disorder that's characterized by an inability to speak in certain social settings. So, it makes it all the more impressive that she could sit down with a total stranger and have this conversation. Nika uses her Instagram account to promote mental health awareness, spread kindness, and promote the various fundraising activities she's always coming up with. Throughout her fundraising, Nika has raised several thousand dollars, most of which has been donated to various cancer foundations due to her father battling with sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, twice. In addition, at the time of recording this, Nika's dad was in the hospital recovering from a brain surgery after a new cancer showed up. Because Nika has been so brave through all that she faces, and because she does so much do help raise money for cancer research, Jay reached out to Nika's mom and asked if he could set up a fundraiser with all proceeds being donated to a cancer foundation of their choosing. If you would like to get more information on this, please visit the show's Instagram page @comingintofocus, all one word and look for the post promoting this episode. Nature enthusiast, holistic healer, symbiotic creature.Asher Cloran didn't have a childhood immersed in nature. Often stuck in front of a TV, with unhealthy eating habits to match, Asher suffered from a multitude of illnesses and mental health issues that consumed his happiness as a young man. And it's precisely the reason he has spent the last eight years not only transforming his own life, but also helping educate other young adults and children on the immense value of health and nature. Asher speaks so passionately and poetically about the magic of nature that it's abundantly clear the profound impact it has had on his life.
