Gracie Abrams has dropped her third album Daughter From Hell, and the reviews are savage. We're unpacking the most brutal takedowns (and the outlets quietly calling it her best yet), plus the question no one wants to ask: has being blissfully in love with Paul Mescal drained the heartbreak that made her music hit?Plus, another A-list wedding for the week: Matty Healey has married it-girl Gabbriette Bechtel at Madonna's former LA estate, complete with an old-Hollywood dress code and one of the most jaw-dropping gothic gowns we've seen in years. And we can't ignore the timing: Taylor Swift's ex tied the knot exactly a fortnight after her wedding. So we're deep diving into whether anyone's really thinking about anyone else right now.Watch Gracie Abrams' New York Times interview ahead of her album drop here. Stories From Women Who Walk
Story Prompt Friday: Stop Reporting Just the Facts. Start Inquiring Into the Depth of Your Story

Stories From Women Who Walk

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 17, 2026 3:12

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga Pull up a chair and let's talk about something I've been exploring lately. It's the “depth of inquiry” that steers a nice essay into a memorable story. That sounds a bit academic, right? But here on Front Porch Friday© what it really means is the difference between just surviving your life, and actually understanding the truth of what you've lived through. Too often, as women, we get into the habit of just reporting the facts. We tell our stories like a laundry list of events. "I raised the kids, I worked the job, I did what was expected, and now I'm here." There's no story magic because you are missing. We do the same thing when we speak out loud to the world—we say what's polite, or what keeps the peace, instead of saying what we actually mean. Think about a moment where you had to say a hard "no" to someone, or maybe you finally picked up a hobby you abandoned years ago. The surface story is simple: "I was too busy for another commitment," or "I just wanted a new creative project." But looking deeper we feel the memorable story.  The truth is more than protecting your calendar or buying art supplies; you realized that your time and your passions don't belong to everyone else anymore. You decided that you are finally ready to be seen and heard exactly as you are, without adapting yourself so others feel comfortable. That shift right there? That is “depth of inquiry.” It's stopping the report and starting the investigation, the exciting archeological dig on your life. Story Prompt: As you go about your day, take a deep look past the surface of your own daily routine as if gazing into a wishing well. Don't just report the facts of your life to yourself. Find the glimmering coins of a deeper truth under the surface; write that story and share it out loud! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, please subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! Twenty-five years on, we're taking Elle Woods back to court, and this one holds up better than almost anything else from 2001. First up we get into the real-life story the movie is based on: the real law student who felt like an outcast for loving pink and for the fluffy pen she took to class. Then there's the casting chaos that nearly sank the whole thing. Christina Applegate said no, Britney Spears was in the mix, and the studio thought Reese was too "unlikeable" to lead, so we break down the audacious move she pulled to land the role, and why it only works because of her.And finally, the ending you never got to see. In a rare twist, test audiences wanted more, and the alternate version they nearly went with would've turned the whole film into a cautionary tale. We unpack the courtroom perm logic, and the graduation speech Donald Trump allegedly lifted from Elle Woods.Remember The Spill drops the tea twice a day in this feed so follow us for all the latest entertainment news… OR you can WATCH our show in full length video on the Apple Podcast app - make sure your phone is up to date and enjoy the watch! How does a relationship fall apart just six weeks after a highly publicised podcast tour declaring your marriage your absolute safe space? Send us a message! We wrestle with what Christian freedom really means and why Paul ties it directly to serving others in love rather than indulging the flesh. We use Galatians 5 to name the “small” relational sins that can consume a church and to map a better path of Spirit-led growth. • freedom in Christ as power to love and serve • loving our neighbor as we treat ourselves, including grace, patience, and generosity • “biting and devouring” as the overlooked conflict that drains our spiritual life • walking by the Spirit as the only way to resist the flesh • works of the flesh that feel ordinary, like jealousy, strife, factions, and outbursts of anger • fruit of the Spirit as one connected growth, not separate “fruits” • practicing spiritual growth as a both-and, our effort alongside God's work (Philippians 2:12–13) • C.S. Lewis' pencil illustration for how God guides real change  At outloudbible.com, you can find free resources to help you study the Bible. You can listen to the full conversation here: Harry’s Trauma Response & Breastfeeding At 49 It is a big day of scurrilous gossip on today's subscriber episode as Mia, Holly, and Em try to understand why our favourite celebrities simply refuse to stop doing things. First up, as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wrap up their honeymoon, the media has pivot-scrolled to their massive, allegedly 40-page prenup. We unpack the rumoured 40-page blueprint designed to bulletproof Taylor's multi-billion dollar empire, and why young couples are suddenly completely obsessed with the "postnup." Plus, the absolute storm of chaos surrounding Prince Harry's trip to London has just taken its messiest turn yet with a brutal, peak-petty Buckingham Palace RSVP rejection that has us questioning what is really going on behind the scenes. And, Australian actress Melissa George just dropped a surprise photo casually breastfeeding her newborn child at a Paris cafe at 49 years old. We discuss. Send us a message! We dig into why vulnerability feels so risky and why Paul's testimony in Acts 22 shows a better way to talk about Jesus. We challenge the idea that testimony only means a dramatic conversion and share practical reasons people stay silent, from pride to shame to fear of rejection. • Paul leading with weakness and shared background • vulnerability versus disclosure and why risk matters • feeling like you have no “big” testimony • church culture that trains people to expect extreme stories • testimony as sanctification and small moments of change • how comfort comes from admitting we needed comfort • pride, shame, and the fear of sounding like we are complaining • “too boring” versus “too much” and why both can silence us • not knowing who will relate and how God uses ordinary words • rejection fear and the temptation to make it about us  At outloudbible.com, you can find free resources to help you study the Bible.
