Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's Broadway musical "Bright Star" has come to Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven. The comedian and the songwriter created the show after collaborating on a Grammy-winning bluegrass album called "Love Has Come For You." "Bright Star" is set in the American South in the 1920s and '40s, and it's on a similar musical wavelength. We recently spoke with Surflight's Artistic Director Steve Steiner, actor Adrianne Hick and director Elizabeth Lucas about bringing "Bright Star" to Long Beach Island.
This week I’m in Sydney for a crackling good time! Keith Urban suggests I try a Little Bit Of Everything, and Laura Bell Bundy is busy with the old Bundy 2 Step while Dolly Parton is busy worring about Jolene. All Steve Martin & Edie Brickell said was Love Has Come For You. Also tunes from Adam Harvey and Troy Cassar-Daley, some classic Johnny Cash, the Renegade Jayne Denham, and my chat with Jasmine Rae all on my REAL Country This week!
We kick off another Inside Music Row with the mention of Brad Paisley - Brad and his wife Kimberly are taking the Volunteer spirit to Haiti. They are helping financially, as well as personally visiting the area as volunteers. Jason Aldean is also in the news as he recently made his film debut in "Sweetwater" alongside Ed Harris and January Jones, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last month. Easton Corbin is up next as his new single "All Over The Road" is already hit radio and is climbing up the charts. We also mention Steve Martin as he plans to team up with Edie Brickell for a new album full of rootsy material that is a substantial departure for both artists. "Love Has Come For You" will be released April 23rd on Rounder Recrods. Finally, we go Inside the Song with Ben Hayslip as he talks about a song he co-wrote called "Honey Bee," which Blake Shelton took all the way to number one.
