For Angel this is Mandela Effect: The Movie. You'll find out why when you listen! A cult favorite from 2011, Drive tells the story of a Hollywood stunt driver (Ryan Gosling) who moonlights as a getaway driver for robberies. Our main character spends most of the film romancing a woman and her son while her husband (In an early unfortunate Latin gangster turn from the great Oscar Isaac) is in prison. The film combines elements from TV crime drama like The Sopranos with a bizarre video game aesthetic from Grand Theft Auto, the LA of Michael Mann's Heat and a jaunty Electric soundtrack. Join your hosts as we get in the Driver seat (GET IT?!) for Drive.
Mike and Murph are back in the studio as they look at Michael Mann's Heat in the latest installment of the Chez Bippy Mob Pod.

Alex is joined by first time guest Kyle Puette to re-cast Michael Mann's Heat originally starring Al Pacino and Robert Deniro
Not everyone knows that Michael Mann's Heat was the second time he's used that material. First time round was a TV pilot called L.A. Takedown, eventually getting its own limited theatrical and home format release. How does it stack up to its more famous sibling?
J. Fry new show tackles releases of blu rays that either are new or remastered classics thats been given new polishes for the most advanced viewing experiences. To start it off, we have a classic: Michael Mann's HEAT starring Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino
We got to see a special theater screening of Michael Mann's Heat (1995)! It's a mix between a family drama, workplace comedy, and teen suicide PSA (move over 13 reasons why!). As you can imagine, Krystle's only objection was that there weren't enough gun fights and Al Pacino needed more monologues about butts. Goodness, this is such a great movie. Opening/closing music by Aesop Rock.
Welcome! It's our first show of 2017, and our very special 50th episode. So once a year, we answer a ton of questions from you, our lovely, wonderful listeners, because there are no interesting new movies being released (sorry, "Monster Trucks") and because it's not time for Oscar nominations yet. Thus! We answer your questions about what's acceptable to snack on in a movie theater, what we'll remember Tom Cruise for, what we think really happened at the end of The Lobster, what bad movie we would remake, how we saw indie movies in Mattoon, and much more. It's a very fun show, and a pleasant way to begin the new year. We also have a Reboot this week, Michael Mann's "Heat," in which we try to come to terms with the new information that Al Pacino claims his character was on cocaine throughout the events of the film. That explains a lot! Timestamps: Mailbag: 3:55 Heat: 1:06:45 We hope you enjoy. Let us know what you think @griersonleitch on Twitter, or griersonleitch@newrepublic.com. (We're doing a mailbag show after the new year, so send us questions.) As always, give us a review on iTunes with the name of a movie you'd like us to review, and we'll discuss it on a later podcast. Can one scene be the key to unlocking the whole story? Stu and Chas are joined once again by the inestimable Stephen Cleary to explore his idea of 'key scenes'. Scenes like the diner scene in HEAT. Or the boardroom showdown in MARGIN CALL. These scenes are not only key to a film, they can also be key to developing a story. Why? Stephen's observation is that if you put your protagonist and antagonist in a scene together for a period of time and they will instinctively play out the beats of your whole story... if you have the characters figured out. An interesting theory and one we put to the test. In addition to HEAT and MARGIN CALL, we look at scenes and sequences from THE GODFATHER, NOTTING HILL, THE DARK KNIGHT, THE RAID 2: BERANDAL and Stu avoids mentioning STAR WARS by working in EMPIRE STRIKES BACK instead.
