In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the Capitals defeat of the San Jose Sharks. The Caps needed to come from behind to take down the Sharks. The caps did it with new acquisitions and young call and far exceeded everyone's expectation as they take down the Sharks by a score of 8-3. Rasmus Sandin played a big role with his first game with the Caps. Rasmus Sandin (0-2—2) became the fourth defenseman to record multiple points in his first game with the Capitals, joining Christian Djoos (1-1—2 on Oct. 11, 2017), Mike McEwen (0-2—2 on Nov. 27, 1984) and Jean Lemieux (1-1—2 on Jan. 23, 1976).Rasmus Sandin (0-3—3) became the first defenseman to post three points in his Capitals debut and just the seventh skater to do so. Mikhail Grabovski (1-3—4 on Oct. 1, 2013) is the only skater to record more than three points in his first game with Washington.Dan later talks about the great performance by Craig Smith who the Caps got in the trade with Boston that sent Orlov and Hathaway packing. Craig smith had two goal on the night and was most impressive.Later Dan talks about the young call-ups in Gabe Carlsson and Vincent Iorio. Carlsson, skating in his first NHL game since April as a member of the Blue Jackets, recorded a pair of assists and a plus-3 rating in 19:00 of ice time.Iorio, meantime, skated 14:48 and notched an assist, setting up Ovechkin's second goal.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Ahead this week on the program, drop the black curtain, this season's done. The Toronto Maple Leafs free fall continued with two losses in their last three games giving them just two wins in their last 14 games. Ron Wilson's gone, Randy Carlyle is in. Mikhail Grabovski's back and for a long, long time. We'll fill you in on all of that coming up in the Redline Report. Back Checking comes your way next with Listener Contributions from Twitter and Email. Wrapping the segment is the Gong Banger with a very disconcerting Troubling Fact of the Week. Rigamarole this week looks at why we have become so accustomed to the culture of losing in Toronto. All that and more coming up on Episode 7.23 of AFITC.

Welcome to another edition of the 500 Level Podcast. Aman and Ben start off the show discussing all the big news surrounding the Leafs - the firing of Ron Wilson and the hiring of Randy Caryle as the new coach, its playoff chances and the contract extension for Mikhail Grabovski. The talk shifts to the Blue Jays with the injury to Litsch, the emergence of prospect Hechavarria and the Jays chances of securing the new wildcard berth. They then talk about the Raptors options at the NBA trade deadline, the new injury to Amir Johnson and an update on Andrea Bargnani, and playing close games against teams above them in the standings but still coming up just short. For the first time this year they spend some time talking about Toronto FC and its biggest game in franchise history against defending MLS Champs - the LA Galaxy. And they talk about the poor quality of the artificial pitch the game will be played on at the Rogers Centre. In the Around the World segment they talk about the somewhat unexpected and impending decision of Peyton Manning being released from the Colts and Rory McIlroy's rise to being the number one ranked golfer in the world and Tiger Wood's great play in the final round on the weekend. So relax, sit back, and enjoy another great episode!

Ahead this week on the program, the Toronto Maple Leafs took three of four points against the powerhouse Pittsburgh Penguins but it very easily could have been and probably should have been four of four points. We'll take you through those pair of games to kick start the Redline Report. Later, Mikhail Grabovski was the second highest scoring player during the month of January but he's a free agent at the end of the season. Should the Leafs keep him and sign him or trade him? We'll touch on that as well. Sidney Crosby's injury situation became even further muddled this week after it was reported he had fractured vertebraes in his neck but then the next day the story changed? How close is he to returning? We'll look at that situation to wrap the Redline Report. In Back Checking, Listener Contributions come your via Twitter and Email. Wrapping the segment, we feature a multi faceted Troubling Fact of the Week. Rigamarole concludes the show this week with a look at why it made sense for the Leafs to send Nazem Kadri and Keith Aulie back to the Toronto Marlies. All that and more coming up on Episode 7.18 of AFITC.
