New Jersey Devils The Devils have a top-10 selection in the draft for the sixth time in eight years. New York Islanders Patrick Roy replaced Lane Lambert as head coach on January 20, 2024. The Islanders acquired the 20th overall pick and two second-round picks from the Chicago Blackhawks. New York Rangers The Rangers acquired Reilly Smith. They signed Sam Carrick to a 3-year contract. Key departures include Alex Wennberg, Jack Roslovic, Barclay Goodrow, Erik Gustafsson, and Blake Wheeler. Philadelphia Flyers Signed top prospect Matvei Michkov to a 3-year entry-level contract. Re-signed Erik Johnson. Cam Atkinson and Marc Staal departed the team. Pittsburgh Penguins The Penguins traded Reilly Smith to the New York Rangers. While not all teams in the division had major changes, these moves represent some of the key alterations heading into the 2024-25 season.
