An extra special day on the pod – our friend Jacob Hill returns for a new episode of our special edition series, Any Given Redraft! And we've got a doozy this time: the 2023 NBA Draft, inarguably one of the worst in league history. It's the year Anthony Bennet went number one, the year only one All Star was picked in the lottery, the year the Bucks drafted one of the greatest players of all time just after, and the year that the Podfather, Bill Simmons, went undefeated on ESPN's broadcast. We begin by breaking down how the night unfolded at Barclays Center, with David Stern going full heel and riling up the Brooklyn crowd. Naturally, we discuss Bill Simmons' big night, including his iconic reaction to Cleveland's selection of Anthony Bennett, Victor Oladipo's case for the number one pick, Giannis' upside, CJ McCollum's Patriot League representation, just to name a few. We also hit on the numerous lottery disappointments, from Nerlens Noel to MCW to Shabazz Muhammad. Finally, we get to our redraft, where we each draft teams of 8 players. Along the way, we marvel at Giannis' accomplishments to date, debate the selection of McCollum vs. the Stifle Tower, wonder at Oladipo's ceiling if health hadn't failed him, and slog through some abominable bench selections towards the back end. This one's for the sickos. Enjoy. Cheers to Bill Simmons and David Stern!
Sports reporter Priya Desai joins us to discuss the Knicks' playoff push, Team USA women's hockey's gold medal run with two local players, and Unrivaled bringing elite women's basketball to Barclays Center. Evan finally tapping out on winter, then immediately pivots into the strangest market story in New York sports right now: why Los Angeles Lakers at New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden has turned into a premium ticket that is somehow bigger than recent LeBron visits and even other historic regular-season moments. Evan challenges the idea that this is about a “last chance” to see LeBron James at MSG, arguing there is no real Garden legacy the way Michael Jordan had, and questioning why the cheaper Barclays Center option does not scratch the same itch. Then the twist: a caller insists the real draw is Luka Dončić, not LeBron, which sends the crew into a full LeBron vs Luka demand debate, including the “iconic player, iconic venue” argument and whether paying that kind of money is actually worth it years later. From there the segment veers into pure Nets anxiety. A caller asks for a sanity check on reports and speculation linking Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Brooklyn Nets, and Evan goes off: if the Nets chase Giannis right now while tanking, he wants heads to roll. He breaks down what is real reporting versus dot-connecting, why offseason timing matters, and why Brooklyn should only be involved as a facilitator for assets, not as a desperate buyer. The rant brings back an all-time flashback to Evan's on-air reaction to the James Harden trade, and he warns that a Giannis move would make that meltdown look tame.

¡Hoy WWE RAW arranca el 2026 con un episodio ESPECIAL tipo STRANGER THINGS desde el Barclays Center en Brooklyn, NY!
Dienstag der 06.Januar.2026 und dies ist Folge 1170 des Ultimate Wrestling Talk mit den Ergebnissen von WWE "Monday Night RAW Stranger Things" vom 05.Januar.2026 aus dem Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA.
Recorded on December 22: Mike and Laureen reflect on the eight days of Chanukah and what it means for the Jewish community to be a light in a darkening world. From 18,000 people gathering at Brooklyn's Barclays Center to massive Chanukah solidarity events in Amsterdam and controversy in London as the city's mayor attempted to halt a vigil for the Bondi victims — the week underscored both resilience and resistance. Amid rising threats, the FBI thwarted a New Year's Eve terror plot involving multiple bombings in the Los Angeles area, while Australian authorities intercepted seven men en route to Bondi Beach, highlighting the global scope of ongoing security concerns. This week's guest, Benham Ben Taleblu of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, warns that Iran and its threat to Israel are not getting the attention they deserve because attention is being diverted to Venezuela. The hosts also examine troubling moments of antisemitism at the Turning Point USA conference, where Ben Shapiro pushed back against the rhetoric, and unpack Tucker Carlson being named Antisemite of the Year by Stop Antisemitism — along with other notable figures and incidents making headlines. Thank you for listening, sharing and subscribing to The Third Opinion Podcast.

0:00 ... Show open, introduction of the panel, and explanation of the "Two-a-Day" series. 1:10 ... Brooklyn Nets discussion ... The good news for the lowly Nets is that this will be their 50th NBA season after joining the league as one of the former ABA teams who joined the NBA for the 1976-'77 season. But that may be it for good news this season in Brooklyn. 2:37 ... World B feels the Nets are not "tanking," they're "rebuilding." 4:06 ... Cam Thomas returns to the team on a "lowball" qualifying deal after averaging 24 points last season. Will he be a problem as he looks to score a lot in hopes of being paid next season? Nic Claxton is one of the few players on the team with trade value, so perhaps he may be moved to a good team before the trade deadline. 6:06 ... There should be plenty of good seats available at Barclays Center this season for fans whose favorite teams are playing the Nets! 6:41 ... Golden State Warriors discussion ... this could be their last chance to make noise out west as they have an aging team with key players like Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green in their late 30s. Butler will need to score more consistently to help Curry with the scoring load if the team is to approach 50 wins. 9:02 ... Bruce feels the Warriors are the most "unsettled" team in the league, mainly because of the Jonathan Kuminga free agency standoff. Bruce feels that Kuminga may be risking alienating his teammates since the Warriors can't move forward to fill out their roster until he makes a decision on how much money he'll be willing to accept this season. This is affecting players like Al Horford and De'Anthony Melton whose personal situations are impacted by Kuminga's saga. 10:38 ... Ross feels Kuminga may be traded (before the February deadline) once his contract is settled. Bruce feels like the age of the Warriors increases the potential for injuries. 13:19 ... World B feels like the Dubs really need Kuminga because he is a young player with talent. 14:54 ... Ross wraps up the show and teases the next show. TRT 15:21
