Mal. «Time to swing» erinnert sich und lässt den Meister «in die vollen Saiten greifen».

This week, we bring you an interview with Dave Dederer of The Presidents of the United States of America. Dave is best known for his work with the Presidents, who soared to the top of the charts in 1995 with their self-titled album that had the mega-hits “Lump” and “Peaches.” But the Presidents, and Dave, have a really interesting and rich history that we dig into. We talk about the Seattle alternative rock scene of the 1980s and 1990s that he was a part of, and the authenticity and fun that they were communicating at their high-energy shows. We also discussed making it big, how they always took care of the business side of their music, and how Dave took this experience into the music industry. Dave talked about the changes in music and technology, and his thoughts on how bands now can succeed in a completely different environment. After the interview, you’ll hear Dave perform I'd Have to Be Crazy and Moonlight In Vermont.

So the Emmy nominations dropped and our feelings can best be summed up as.....meh??? We debrief our feelings about This Is Us, the number of repeat nominations, air our grievances about the VICIOUS SNUBS, and have nothing to say about several categories. Then, we take a field trip to the motherland and hate watch the Hallmark original movie. Moonlight in Vermont. You're going to learn a lot about syrup grading, maple trees, Montpelier, locally sourced ingredients, and New York real estate agents. Much like the oyster-mushroom-Meet-Cute, this segment is the beginning of something beautiful and unexpected, as Kelsey and Kirstie begin to fall deeply in love with Hallmark Original Movies.
Joe Hunter and his guest, Bill Rudman, listen with you to renditions of "Moonlight in Vermont" by Margaret Whiting, Ray Charles, Ahmad Jamal, and Willie Nelson. As the nephew of the song’s lyricist, John Blackburn, Bill Rudman gives us special insight into the history of this piece. Then you'll enjoy this week's bonus tune by Ahmad Jamal and his trio, performing a piece by one Rudman’s favorite composers. (S1 Ep4)

Woody Herman played saxophone and clarinet with various bands until 1936, when the Isham Jones Band in which he was working broke up and he organised a group of his own with the key players. Since then he has led many bands, most of which have been called 'herds'. In conversation with Roy Plomley, he chooses the eight records he would take to the mythical island, but he does not include his most famous, Woodchopper's Ball.[Taken from the original programme material for this archive edition of Desert Island Discs]Favourite track: Moonlight In Vermont by The Johnny Smith Quintet Book: Music is My Mistress by Duke Ellington Luxury: Jaguar XJ6
