Then it gets deeper into front office strategy. If a team truly believes it has found its franchise quarterback, is there any price that changes its mind? The crew breaks down draft value charts, negotiating leverage, and what an “overpay” really means when you are convinced a quarterback can transform your franchise. Would the Jets have to offer multiple first-rounders to move up, and would it even matter if the Raiders are sold on their guy? It is a wide-ranging football hour that blends draft logic, fan emotion, and the chess match behind the scenes.

It's when a child responds to authority, usually a parent, in a rude, defiant, or disrespectful way. Now, back talk isn't always about rebellion. It often comes from frustration, a need for control, or emotional overwhelm. And while it's frustrating, it's important to understand that it's developmentally normal. Kids, especially early teens and teens, are learning to assert themselves. But just because it's a normal developmental stage, doesn't mean it's okay. And when we feel disrespected or angry, we often speak disrespectfully to them as we tell them – or yell at them – about how disrespectful they're being to us.So, rather than focusing on their action – we need to focus on our action – that comes from what we think our role as parents should be.We need to be teachers. Our job as parents is to teach our children to speak with respect.Check out my free resources on marriage, parenting, home management, and faith life/mindset at janetquinlan.comFollow me on Instagram @janetquinlancoaching

We'll also explore an Afrofuturist Systems Design Process that centers Black experiences, knowledge, and community wisdom to forge transformative, equity-driven solutions.Whether you're a parent, in health care, education, or policy, join us as we outline the comprehensive policy reforms and structural changes needed to dismantle oppressive systems and ensure Black families not only survive but thrive.

"Eye rolls. Sarcasm. Door slams. Backtalk." How often have you felt that knot in your stomach when your child speaks to you with blatant disrespect? That moment when you've modeled respectful communication explained expectations clearly, and stayed calm... yet they still throw your efforts back in your face with contempt. You know you deserve better treatment. You know other families don't struggle with this level of disrespect. So why do your attempts to address it feel so ineffective? What if the gentle parenting movement—with all its beautiful wisdom about connection and empathy—has left you without practical tools for handling disrespect? As a mother of five, I've discovered that mainstream parenting advice completely falls short when it comes to teaching children how to be respectful. It tells us to model respect (which is important!), but offers virtually nothing for what to do when that modeling isn't mirrored back. In this episode, I reveal: - The foundation that most parents are missing - The critical difference between demanding respect and commanding it - How your tone and delivery might affect your parenting - The exact language to use when addressing disrespect in the moment - Why mastering your triggers is essential This isn't about returning to harsh, authoritarian parenting. It's about finding that sweet spot between warm connection and clear leadership that helps your children develop into respectful individuals who will thrive in relationships and society. ___________________ Ready to command respect instead of begging for it?
