Paul Stanley writes some of the catchiest and most melodic choruses and pre-choruses in Rock 'n Roll. It's undeniable, just ask Desmond Child. As Zeus always says, if he had one person that had to write a melodic chorus that he would love he would bet his life on, it would be Paul Stanley. The guys discuss his amazing choruses and then each rank their Top Ten favorite Paul Stanley choruses. This episode will make you remember why you fell in love with the KISS music. Oh Yeah! Every month (on the first Friday of the month), as you may or may not know, I do a monologue instead of having an interviewee here on Finding Certainty. No dialogue or call-ins. Just yours truly sharing my thoughts and experience on a specific topic (I've already planned out 26, one for each letter of the alphabet. It's going to take me a couple of years to get through them all). This week, with May being the 5th month of the year, we're at “E” is for Endurance. Just like last month's topic (Discipline), Endurance is a subject I think often about and continue to work at daily. Sometimes it's easy and other times it's not. I have some strong opinions concerning the topic, have learned some powerful lessons surrounding it, and it's still something I'm learning about and trying to improve at. The following poem summarizes the subject pretty well: In this marathon of life we travel along: Through trials and tests, we try to stay strong. Prepared as we are, with our hearts so imbued, Ready to face whatever we choose. Devastation hits, we take the blows, Evaluation helps as our fortitude grows, We reassess, realign, and adjust our pace, Effort and persistence we steadily embrace. We learn from each step and stumble we take, Growth is the journey that we happily make. With faith in ourselves, we rise above, As trials become stepping stones we may actually love. Going the extra mile, we try, we dare, Accountability is and must be our load to bear. No victims here, just work-warriors true, Continually asking, What else can we do? Mentors and coaches, they all lend a hand, Guiding us through this challenging land. We ask for their help ... with humility, Open-mindedness is our truest ability. Teachability becomes our badge of pride, Work ethic, our trusted steed to ride. Momentum builds up with every small win, Sticktoitiveness ... our virtue within. So here's to endurance, to lasting through, With humor, grace, and courage too. In life's grand race, we will always find, The finish line, and our future … defined. In the symphony of life, each step we take, Notes of resilience and hope awake. Harmony, effort, and melody in stride, With every crescendo, our spirits take flight. Choruses of courage, ringing loud and clear, Echoing triumphs, dispelling our fears. Each setback we see as a verse to overcome, Each victory, a beautiful chorus sung. With every trial faced and challenge met, We stand tall and straight, with zero regret. In the journey itself, we have found our might, And, in reaching the end, we discover our light. If you'd like to learn more about Finding Certainty, our veteran owned consulting firm, Certainty Management, or our global JV firm, Certainty Global, please go to www.certaintyteam.com or call us at (888) 684-3122. "Get your green thumbs ready to transform knowledge into a flourishing garden! Join Morgan and me as we delve into the April soil, sharing secrets to dodge the frost's final jab and pinpoint the perfect moment to plant tomatoes and their warm-season friends. We'll navigate the frosty intricacies of Huntsville versus Owens Crossroads, warming up to the critical role soil temperature plays in your garden's performance. Expect a row-by-row guide on how to invite a cascade of beans, cucumbers, squash, and even the ambitious sprawl of watermelons and sweet corn to your patch. And for those with a competitive streak, we'll reveal methods to outsmart garden gluttons waiting to feast on your hard work. Our conversation blossoms further as we tackle the nuts and bolts of garden establishment, from sun chasing to wrangling stormwater and nurturing your soil. Rest assured, I haven't forgotten to sprinkle in tales from my own backyard escapades – like the strawberry-induced happiness and a family quiz night that blooms into a garden of laughter. We don't just scratch the surface; we dig deep with advice on choosing between the embrace of in-ground planting or the elevation of raised beds. Whether you're armed with a stirrup hoe or still brushing the dirt off your gardening gloves, Morgan and I are here to help you plant the seeds of a bountiful April garden."Sometimes ... Jenkins (our AI assistant) nails the description. Other times... It's just funny. Mentioned:Tools for the no-till garden are stirrup hoe, garden fork, and a rake. Today we become the best podcast about Oasis and maybe the best podcast about the album (What's the Story) Morning Glory. Due to Aaron, we are rushing through this one because he is the Boss! Be sure to listen to the last segment today (it's our best one!) We talk about why we went to St. Olaf and how Aaron's life dreams were crushed already in his sophomore year while Russ really is happy the Vikes got Randy Moss. Aaron perverts our idea of a nice day, and we talk about the history of pantyhose. We celebrate Russell's birthday month, and we have to make fun of Aaron (don't worry, he likes it.) Aaron hates the violins and Russell realizes some harsh truths about the Verve and the Verve Pipe while we discuss one of the biggest and loudest bands of the 90's. We explain what Brit pop is and why Wonderwall is the perfect British Soccer song while we hurt Aaron's feeling about talk about the most explosive Choruses ever! In 2005, "Kakehashi: THAT WE MIGHT LIVE" was recorded in Japan by 143 world-class Japanese Military Musicians and 300 Chorus traveling from Shenandoah and Old Dominion Universities. It was the FIRST recording released by the Ministry of Defense outside of Japan. In 2007, a “visualized” version of "Kakehashi: THAT WE MIGHT LIVE", won THREE Telly Awards in History, Biography & Music, and an AVA Gold Award. It was also nominated for the Pulitzer and Nemmers Prizes in Music. More importantly, when copies of the DVD version went to Congress in 2007, it resulted in several of the ex-POWs from WWII receiving long-overdue Bronze Stars & Purple Hearts. Yes… a single work, written for fine HIGH SCHOOL Bands and Choruses, won multiple TELLY and AVA Awards and inspired Congress to award forgotten soldiers of WWII Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts. Consider this Music for your programs and discover the power and healing beauty of this Music by owning one of the few remaining copies of the original 2007 version DVDs. Enjoy & Godspeed! •Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope was a musical written by Miki Grant and directed by Vinnette Carroll. This production not only included Gospel music, it also included jazz, funk, soul, calypso and soft rock. •In this musical which is the second production I have found to have Alex Bradford playing an important part contributing his talents as a feature character/actor/singer along with his wife Alberta Bradford. She played a role as singer and actress in the Broadway production. Alberta Bradford was not only a singer; she was a musician and songwriter who not only played for her husband Alex Bradford and his group; she also played for other singing aggregations such as Chesapeake Choral Union, the National Convention of Gospel Choirs & Choruses and several other groups. •The play itself focused on the African-American experience with songs reflecting various topics about ghetto life, student protests, Black power and feminism. •This show was the Directorial debut of Vinnnette Carroll who was the first black woman to direct a play on Broadway. The play was written by Micki Grant; singer, actress, writer and composer. Micki was a featured actress in one of the earlier soap operas “Another World. •with Calvin Gibbs, Jr. as Co-Host •Please send me an email sharing your thoughts about this show segment also if you have any suggestions of future guests you would like to hear on the show. •Brother Joe May, Known as the "THUNDERBOLT OF THE MIDDLE WEST! "He was a vocalist who was compared to have similar vocal prowess as Ms. Mahailia Jackson. He was under the influence of Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith after he and his family relocated from Macon Mississippi to East St. Louis Illinois to work in a chemical plant. •He was noted as “the greatest Gospel singer of all time” which is where the title of Thunderbolt derived. Brother May had a voice of unimaginable range and power. He would take a song from a whisper to a scream without the slightest suggestion of effort. •Brother Joe may began singing at Thomas A. Dorsey's National Conventions of Gospel Choirs and Choruses directed by Mother Willie Mae Ford. In 1949 he began his solo career after signing with Specialty Records and went on to record multiple albums. He was asked multiple times to do secular recordings. He, however, would have nothing to do with secular music even though he was cited as a musical inspiration by Little Richard. •Please send me an email sharing your thoughts about this show segment also if you have any suggestions of future guests you would like to hear on the show. A divine duality: our bad thoughts and God's comfort, our imperfections and God's forgiveness, our guilt and God's love nevertheless. In this long cantata masterwork, Bach does the Psalms justice and expresses their vast emotions. He uses a set of spry and agile musical tools as varied as each phrase of the psalms he puts to music. This is the second of two episodes this month on BWV 21. Performance of this cantata by the Netherlands Bach Society (Shunske Sato, director): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGT0iPpU9is Special thanks to listener Eliezer for a new perspective for us to talk about on this cantata.
Giuli and Sofia discuss hope, a certainty in the future that arises from recognizing the presence of Christ today. What are “schools” for learning and practicing hope? What is the relationship between hope and faith? Is Christian hope individualistic? Who in our lives shows us what it means to live in hope? Our media recommendation is Charles Peguy's poem The Portal of the Mystery of Hope (of which you can find an excerpt at www.eighthdayinstitute.org/hope-surprises-god). And our monthly challenge is to pray the rosary, begging Our Lady to give you her own hope. We'd love to hear from you!
