"We sold 30 million records and yet we didn't get any money"Coleen Nolan was a performer from the age of two but has had anything but an easy journey. Coleen tells Scott how The Nolan Sisters went from singing in working men's clubs in Blackpool to getting escorted by the army in Japan; and how the payoff wasn't what any of them expected.Coleen opens up about the challenges that she's faced along the way, and how it wasn't until her mid-fifties that she was able to feel in control of her own life. You'll hear the effect cancer has had on Coleen's family, how the people around Coleen help her remain grounded, and the surprising thing that she looks forward to coming home to.

Musikken bliver i familien.
Before we start can I just say sorry, this is a bad film with bad things. This week we take you through the 1973/4 movie "Nightmare Circus" or Terror Circus or Caged Women 2 or like a billion other names it went under. Its stinky. Really really stinky. But we watch these things so you dont have to. You will hear all about the Nolan Sisters, what actually constitutes a circus, the best breakfast ever and some history of old actors. In this weeks episode of THE LIKES OF US podcast, dedicated to Working-Class Life, Art, Politics and Culture, your host, Neil Bradley offers up a very welcome return to Margaret, our NHS nurse from previous podcasts, with whom he chats about the Nolan Sisters (oh, the horror), Wham, ABBA, watching the box, the grass always seeming greener on the other side, getting old, death, having a Space Station named after you, Catholic guilt, swotting at school, Holiday on Ice, and so much more!
I caught up with Linda and Anne Nolan about their rollercoaster lives, why they are always honest with the public- even with the bad news, and why having cancer taught them how to prioritise their lives! Their book, Stronger Together, is out now!
Nolan sisters Maureen and Linda joined Ray to discuss their new TV series 'At Home with the Nolan's.'
What a coincidence, divas! As Tom went to “get a cable”, so Chris (of his many coincidences) and Rich (of his many bitches) have kindly agreed to fill in as Holly’s husbands for the week on Little Diva Energy. Left to their own devices, she and the boys enjoy a wide-ranging natter (though never so wide-ranging it’s more than one segue from a Nolan) through all the week’s big Diva news. Holly and Rich (@RichHawkins) team up to celebrate two other big collaborations this week: every misogynist’s favourite female sexuality empowerment anthem, ‘WAP’ and Madonna (Happy Birthday, babe) showing up, alongside Missy, on the glorious new Dua Lipa track, ‘Levitating’. Meanwhile, Chris (@ChrisA) attempts to bring every conversation back around to the Nolan Sisters (with moderate success). Stay tuned as well, Divas, because Holly & Chris have a big announcement to make about Out for Blood, the brand new podcast from the makers of Big Diva Energy, coming at you in Autumn 2020. (N.B. Apologies for some sound issues this week. You honestly leave these people alone for 5 minutes… At least they weren’t eating I suppose.) Meanwhile, watch Seth Rudetski’s The Comeback reunion here (https://www.playbill.com/article/lisa-kudrow-and-cast-and-creators-of-the-comeback-join-stars-in-the-house-july-21). It’s A Filthy Job but Someone Has to Do It!Recording “artistes” have been dumping their waste product into the portaloo of pop for nearly seventy years. Prior to the advent of the internet most of it would have naturally decomposed leaving behind perhaps only the odd Tony Blackburn stain or a foul smelling patch of Nolan Sisters. In The 21st Century however, although the record companies altruistically recycle whatever they can, all of this sonic detritus is simply dumped into cyber space causing massive audio pollution and misery for music lovers and small woodland animals alike. Now with the Earth’s audio Eco system under threat as never before, Something Must be Done! So, join The Man from Uncool as he retches in to the tank of effluent and starts the clean-up, pulling out ancient stinkers, plus the odd golden turd in the process. That’s The Man From Uncool: The Stinkers. Episode 1. Only on Radio Lewes.

Once the biggest selling girl groups in the world, the Nolan Sisters performed in stadiums internationally, were the opening act for Frank Sinatra, sold over 30 million records and even won the Japanese equivalent of a Grammy. It wasn’t all a bed of roses, though, as Anne, the eldest of the siblings, reveals. Suddenly unable to secure any bookings, success came to a stop with jolt and 9-5 working came calling. But Anne Nolan is a survivor. She’s battled cancer, a marriage break-up, sexual abuse, and being shunned by her sisters who went on tour without her, yet she remains defiantly upbeat. #AnneNolan #NolanSisters #TheNolans #Covid19 #Pop #music
After 42 months of daily shows, the Nolan Sisters of the Celtic podcasting run into the harsh reality that not very much is happening. Still, they battle on valiantly with the material they have - Uefa working party reports, Celtic FC's social media output and Kris Ajer's keepie-uppie efforts. Enjoy.

This week Sue Lawley's castaway is Tim Smit, the co-founder of the Eden Project in Cornwall. Before Tim Smit thought of building the largest greenhouse in the world, he had already attracted public attention by resurrecting The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Before that he'd enjoyed a successful music career, writing songs and working with - among others - Barry Manilow and the Nolan Sisters.[Taken from the original programme material for this archive edition of Desert Island Discs]Favourite track: Dancing in the Street by David Bowie and Mick Jagger Book: Book with plain pages Luxury: Piano
