Ho ho ho… welcome to The Chris Moyles Show podcast! We kicked off the week launching Christmas, including our festive jingles, putting the tree up in the studio and (eventually) switching on our Christmas lights! We cracked open a variety of interesting advent calendars… including a daily toast delivery for James. Chesney Hawkes was our first guest this week, who gave us the revelation that he wants to be in Radiohead rather than just being the one and only Chesney Hawkes!Comedy legend John Cleese came in and proved that laughter is the best medicine! However, he mostly came in to chat about Fawlty Towers: The Play, which has embarked on an 11 month tour and the success of his Fawlty Towers book!We rounded off the week chatting to Judi Love about her upcoming live tour, and playing fart noises to her to try and make her laugh. You know, the usual Chris Moyles Show antics! And you know what… that's not all!James gets electrocutedPolly's ‘alarming' giftMatt Parkes-Smith returns!Enjoy! The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X!Weekdays 6:30am - 10am
As a coda to our exhaustive study of his show The Dinosaur Hour, we thought it was only fair to discuss John Cleese from when he was at his peak. We consider what it means that FAWLTY TOWERS is Britain's most beloved sitcom, and the incisive commentary about British/American relations in "Waldorf Salad." PLUS: Speaking of British legends, for some reason we get really into discussing Simon Cowell. PATREON-EXCLUSIVE EPISODE - https://www.patreon.com/posts/145077527
Recorded live at FanX Salt Lake in April 2019, this Conversation with Craig is a full panel with comedy legend John Cleese, as Craig finally gets his game time call to step onstage with one of his heroes. From John's North American convention debut and Craig's nerves backstage to dry British chaos in front of a packed room, it is equal parts origin story, masterclass in comedy, and gleeful mischief. How a would be lawyer with a Cambridge law degree accidentally fell into show business through a student revue that suddenly transferred to London and ran for months. Cleese breaks down why you should always write comedy about what you know, how Fawlty Towers grew out of that idea, and how he approached those classic management training videos without ever having lived in a cubicle. Candid, rapid fire audience Q and A on Monty Python collaborators, silly walks, roles he regrets turning down, aging, politics, and why he happily pokes fun at everyone, including himself. "Actually, it's quite nice being old, because you just don't give a fuck, you know?" - John Cleese Want more exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes stories from the people who bring your favorite characters to life? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Comedy legend John Cleese tells Brendan about Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, the power of laughter, and his reflections on what happens after death. He also explains the impetus behind his book, Fawlty Towers: Fawlts and All, and his new documentary, John Cleese Packs It In.
"The Good Listening To" Podcast with me Chris Grimes! (aka a "GLT with me CG!")
Send us a textA host hands over his own mic, steps into the straw-lit ring, and lets his story breathe. Chris Grimes invites us into “the clearing,” a warm, curated space where presence comes first and stories find their shape. From a Uganda childhood and the hum of a TV showing Laurel & Hardy to the ache of losing a sister and the discipline of actor-teacher training, Chris traces the real forces that shaped his craft, his humour, and his ethos of yes-and.We dig into the 5-4-3-2-1 framework he uses to spark honest conversation, and why comedy can be the first evidence of freedom. Expect Stan Laurel's kindness, Michael Palin's curiosity, and a dash of John Cleese; a tender nod to Federer's focus on the next point; and a confession about a £2,000 wheelie bin in the name of creative risk. Chris shares the quotes he keeps in his pocket—be where your feet are; nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so—and the one story he returns to when doubt creeps in: the Helsinki Bus Garage. Translation for creatives and leaders alike—stay on the bus long enough to reach the route only you can travel. The heart of the conversation is Legacy Life Reflections, a human-led way to record personal histories before voices fade. Chris talks about capturing his father's story in the halcyon years and why every family has a documentary inside it, not a footnote. It's story craft with care: listening deeply, framing gently, and creating a keepsake that outlives the moment. Along the way, we talk tennis, ping-pong, presence, and the north star of a dream guest—Sir Michael Palin. If you're building a career in the arts, leading teams, or simply trying to honour the voices you love, there's gold here: practical storytelling tools, resilience reframes, and a reminder to laugh when you can. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs the nudge, and leave a review to help more people find the clearing. Ten years ago, Steve Wills and I became rather obsessed by this book, and it helped contextualise some of our thinking on Insight farming – the critical habit of discussing new research and analysis findings, checking facts and figures that seem at odds with existing learning, investigating contradictions, and building picture summaries drawn from multiple sources. It's not just the summaries themselves that are critical, it's the discussions between Insight people along the way.But as we think about Insight roles of the future, I think one of the behavioural roles that will give us great opportunities to expand our remit is that of the knowledge steward, where we are not only farming the collective insight produced by the Insight team, but checking, challenging, combining and curating the knowledge produced by many others around the organisation. I 2006 dhearbhaigh Aer Lingus an oíche roimhe go mbeadh gearradh siar ar bpost chun airgead a shábháil agus gan a bheith I gcomórtas le Ryanair. I 2001 bhí agóid ag bunscoil Bishop Harty I Ballinree chun aird a tharraingt ar na bail uafásach a bhí ann. Bhí mic léinn agus tuismitheoirí ann le rudaí scríofa ar plaiceard. Bhí páistí ann chomh hóg le cúig bliana ag rá nach raibh siad sásta leis na bail uafásach a bhí ann. I 2009 bhí plean nua ag teacht chun cinn I gcóir áis iontach do spórt, fóillíocht agus siamsaíocht. Tháinig sé amach go mbeadh sé ar shuíomh 800 acra I nDurlas. Leis an chostas de 460 milliúin euro – tháinig sé amach go mbeadh a lán rudaí eile ann cosúil le ráschúrsa, casaíne, óstán agus a lán rudaí eile. Clive Anderson is joined by a giggle of comics or should that be a brace of jokers in the Loose Ends studio this week. Fawlty Towers creator John Cleese recalls being told his nascent sitcom - 50 years old this year - would fail if they didn't "get it out of the hotel more". Sue Perkins describes the urge to get out on a stand up tour again after a decade presenting shows from Great British Bake Off to Just a Minute, her show is called The Eternal Shame of Sue Perkins - what could be so embarrassing? Judi Love is on our screens practically daily - on ITV's Loose Women or shows from Taskmaster to The Wheel but she too is drawn to the stage - what gives? Meanwhile Hugh Dennis is not on tour, but he's on stage, as Rev Chasuble in the National Theatre's production of The Importance of Being Earnest - he may not be planning to go all churchy but he does feel right at home in clerical garb. With music from Editors front man Tom Smith with a track from his forthcoming album There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn't There In The Light and from Natalie Duncan Trio with her new single Breakaway before her London Jazz Festival gig.Produced by Olive Clancy
Send us a textKatie and Bridget debate the phonetic spelling for "Fievel" as they re-watch the animated sequel - An American Tail: Fievel Goes West! Come along as we once again follow Fievel and his family as they, once again, decide to immigrate elsewhere, and - ONCE AGAIN - Fievel gets lost during the trek. But don't worry, he somehow is able to survive in the desert for who knows how long, teaches us about mirages, and makes it back to his family just as they are putting together their own Saw-esq death trap! When Fievel tries to warn his family about the evil plot from the cats to turn them all into mouseburgers, nobody believes him and he has to go bother the famous cowboy dog Wylie Burp to help him. How can a little mouse defeat a hoard of evil cats enacting their own Ocean's 11 murder plot? He can't! But his best friend Tiger (who is a cat) can help once he learns how to be a dog! We've got lazy eyes, questionable song lyrics, and a familiar plot with a cowboy twist all wrapped up into this light-hearted American Tail sequel (squeek-uel?). Released in 1991, it features voice acting from Phillip Glasser, James Stewart, Cathy Cavadini, Dom DeLuise, John Cleese, Jon Lovitz, and Amy Irving.

On 19 September 1975, the nightmare story of a maniac who should never have been running a hotel, his tyrannical wife, their hapless Spanish waiter and a stream of eccentric guests made its debut on BBC2. Fifty years later Fawlty Towers still captures middle Britain at its most hilariously uptight – and Basil Fawlty has never been bettered as an Englishman on the verge of nervous breakdown. Comedy writer Jason Hazeley joins Andrew Harrison to explore the majesty of “Fatty Towels”… ponder whether John Cleese has actually turned into Basil… and ask why the show's legend lasted so long. I have to praise you like a shoe! Welcome back to the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast.Things returned to normal this week as Chris was home from Ibiza and back in the driving seat on Monday morning. It was a cracker of a week with a few games here and there, an iconic guest and of course, lots of silly moments. The legendary Eric Idle joined the team for a chat this week covering a range of topics from John Cleese to The Rutles. He also promoted his upcoming UK tour that features a virtual band, singalongs, humorous stories from his career and some rare footage from over the years.Dom was fresh from the stage, as we got highlights from his recent stand-up show! For his second ever set, he was asked to do 5 minutes for the Rode Comedy Festival, and it was at 18 minutes he realised he needed to wrap it up! In a hilarious feature this week, listeners messaged in for our Stupid Amnesty with things they learned embarrassingly late in life… such as one listener who discovered that gherkins are, and have always been, cucumbers!Well, you read all of that did you? I guess you want some more, so here it is…Spinal Tap ReviewMisheard songs North South divideEnjoy! The Chris Moyles Show on Radio XWeekdays 6:30am - 10am

Lindsay Lohan & Jamie Lee Curtis month continues as we take a look at two big hits from the primes of their respective careers: Herbie: Fully Loaded and A Fish Called Wanda! For Herbie, Disney relied on Lindsay to revive a dormant franchise, teaming her up with Michael Keaton, Justin Long, and Matt Dillon. Although it received mixed reviews, the film was a box office success and one of the final hits of Lohan's career. Our hosts break down whether it's deserving of Millennial classic status, or if it should be left behind. For Wanda, Curtis parlayed her BAFTA-winning breakout in Trading Places to a role in the John Cleese-penned crime comedy. The film wasn't only a smash hit, becoming the 7th highest grossing film of 1988, but received 3 Oscar nominations, with Kevin Kline winning for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. We discuss our favorite scenes and performances of one of the funniest movies we've ever covered on the show. What's your favorite Jamie Lee Curtis movie? Let us know at cinemaontappodcast@gmail.com
