On this Freedom Friday, we celebrated the freedom that comes from having a relationship with Jesus and no longer being in darkness. Sometimes, we can do all the right things but remain lost. We could attend church every Sunday, participate in Bible Study, sing with the choir, volunteer, etc., but still not know who Christ is. The testimonies shared by Karl and Crew this week shed some light on how each member had a false sense of salvation at a point in their walk with Christ. Today, we asked our listeners to share their coming-to-Christ stories. Was there a time when you were in church but didn’t know Christ? You can hear the highlights of today’s program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What if I told you the U.S. spends over $40 billion a year propping up a colony that doesn't want to be part of America? That's right. In this episode, we dive into the explosive topic of Puerto Rican independence - not as some far-off hypothetical, but as a moral, political, and economic crisis happening right now under our noses. Why isn't this making national headlines? Because the truth threatens the status quo. Studio Sponsor: Cardio Miracle - "Unlock the secret to a healthier heart, increased energy levels, and transform your cardiovascular fitness like never before.": CardioMiracle.com/TBNS Puerto Rico isn't some willing stepchild of the United States. It's a nation that never asked to be adopted, much less controlled by unelected bureaucrats via an economic junta installed by Washington. This episode peels back the curtain on the PROMESA Act, the U.S. occupation, and the colonial mindset that's been force-fed to Puerto Ricans for over 100 years. Javier Hernandez joins me to tell the truth most media won't touch. But we don't stop at history. We talk dollars and cents: what it's costing you, the American taxpayer. Spoiler alert - independence would save the U.S. over $600 billion in the long run. That's money we could be using to fix our roads, support our veterans, or reduce the deficit. Why aren't more fiscal conservatives talking about this? We also break down the cultural clash at play. Javier makes it crystal clear - Puerto Ricans are not assimilating. They don't want to be the 51st state. They want dignity, sovereignty, and economic opportunity on their own terms. So the real question becomes: are we going to be the empire we fought to escape from? By the end of this episode, you'll see why Puerto Rican independence isn't just some niche issue. It's a test of our values, our fiscal sanity, and our respect for liberty. This is one of the most powerful and eye-opening conversations we've had on The Brian Nichols Show – and it's one that every American needs to hear. ❤️ Order Cardio Miracle (CardioMiracle.com/TBNS) for 15% off and take a step towards better heart health and overall well-being!
Michael Mansfield started smoking cigarettes at age thirteen. Cigarettes led to one drug after another until he was on the streets of Washington caught in the "revolving door" of drugs, gambling, lust, and crime. After nearly two decades of this cycle, Michael picked up a Book of Mormon in prison, read about the redemption of Alma the Younger, and completely changed his life. This interview was conducted in May 2024 Michael was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 6, 2019 Alma 36: 18-19, 21, 23, 27
Send us a textIn this deeply moving interview, Jeanette shares one of the most powerful transformation stories I've ever witnessed - how healing her own childhood wounds completely freed her 7-year-old daughter's spirit in just three months. As a Mexican expatriate mom living in the Netherlands with no support system, Jeanette was trapped in an overwhelming cycle. Her daughter had begun hearing "voices" that told her not to trust her mom, to fight her brother, and that she was "silly" - the exact same critical voices Jeanette had heard as a child growing up as the third of four children with little attention and no emotional support. The little girl had become the classic "good girl" - quiet, compliant, always focusing on what was wrong instead of finding joy. She was unconsciously repeating the same wounded patterns her mother had learned.Despite trying psychologists, parenting courses, and religious guidance, nothing created lasting change until Jeanette discovered the connection between her childhood wounds and her daughter's suffering. In this raw, honest conversation, Jeanette reveals:How growing up as the third of four children with no emotional support created patterns she was unconsciously repeatingThe specific brain exercises that helped her regain control of her emotions in just one weekHow her transformation affected not just her parenting, but her work relationships and life decisionsThe moment she realized her "good girl" daughter was repeating generational patternsHer brave decision to pursue divorce and create a healthier future for her childrenWhat makes this episode particularly powerful is witnessing Jeanette's courage - someone who usually "sits in the back" stepping forward to share her story publicly for the first time.If you're feeling trapped by your circumstances, overwhelmed by your emotions, or wondering if real change is possible - Jeanette's story proves that healing can happen faster than you think, and that courage can emerge from the most difficult situations.Support the showPrefer watching this podcast on video? It's May, but Joyhdae and Ryan are dressed like it's January—and blaming Trump (kind of). This week, the Virgo Season Show delivers another hilarious and chaotic episode where nothing stays on track, and everything is fair game. We're talking unexpected weather shifts, concert outfit emergencies, and why Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour has fans rethinking their entire wardrobe strategy. Joyhdae comes through with Virgo-level preparation, while Ryan makes a bold style move that might break the internet. Or at least his own Instagram.Ryan also introduces a brand new game that flips the script—literally. It has Joyhdae shook and you're going to want to join in on this one. From there, it gets even wilder. Joe Biden's health makes headlines and sparks a much-needed conversation. Chris Brown finds himself in hot water overseas. And let's just say some inmates in Louisiana had a very productive week—with results no one saw coming. We're also breaking down a new bill that just passed the House, and while it's being branded as “big and beautiful,” the details have us side-eyeing everything. And yes, we touch on an apology that missed the mark—and might've made things worse. Spoiler: it's giving “you should've said nothing.”Oh, and the dad jokes? Still corny. Still hilarious. Still happening.Like, comment, and subscribe to catch the full ride—from jokes to jaw-drops. Building a legacy of faith requires intentional spiritual discipleship, distinguishing between heritage (what you receive) and legacy (what you leave behind). Scripture emphasizes our responsibility to pass faith to future generations, treating discipleship as a race to be run with purpose and discipline. Practical ways to build this legacy include living authentically, teaching biblical disciplines, developing a biblical worldview, establishing spiritual rhythms, modeling grace and forgiveness, speaking identity over others, and encouraging ministry participation. The goal is ensuring each generation builds upon the faith foundation of those who came before.

Solomon observes that much of our toil is driven not by purpose but by envy—striving to outdo others. This, he declares, is vanity and a chasing after the wind. Whether overworking from rivalry or folding one's hands in idleness, neither extreme satisfies.Pastor Balla unpacks a better way: the peace of “a handful of quietness”—work done in contentment, not comparison. In Christ, our worth is not found in achievements but in grace. Freed from envy, we labor not to prove ourselves but to serve in joyful vocation.Drawing from Ecclesiastes and Philippians, this devotion calls us to faithful work rooted in identity, not rivalry. Let Christ's cross silence comparison and awaken contentment.Subscribe and share to spread God's Word.#Ecclesiastes #DailyDevotion #PastorBalla #Contentment #ChristianWork #LutheranDevotion #GraceOverEnvy #QuietnessInChrist

In a world where entitlement is increasingly common, parents must focus on building character rather than comfort in their children. The three main pitfalls of irresponsible parenting include allowing apathy, enabling blame-shifting, and fostering a care-for-me mentality. Parents can combat these issues by modeling financial responsibility, emotional control, mental discipline, and personal accountability. By demonstrating these qualities consistently, parents help their children develop the strong character needed for a purposeful life.
AP correspondent Ed Donahue reports on graduation day for a student who was in ICE custody.
At just 20 years old, Lindsey Graves' life changed forever when she experienced the sudden loss of her college roommate and sorority sister. She developed paralyzing anxiety, panic disorder, and dissociation symptoms (DPDR). Like so many women, she turned to her doctor for answers and was quickly prescribed multiple medications, without truly understanding what her body was going through. After five years of being on benzodiazepines and SSRIs (and still struggling daily) Lindsey had a pivotal realization: "God didn't create you to suffer every day." That moment sparked her journey into holistic approaches, nervous system regulation, mindset rewiring, dietary changes, and gut health work, and ultimately led to her full recovery. In today's episode, Lindsey shares her story of how trauma can instantly change your brain and body, the emotional pain of feeling isolated and misunderstood, and why medication alone didn't heal her anxiety or panic. We explore the truth about nervous system dysregulation, the often misunderstood reality of depersonalization and derealization (DPDR), and the critical role that gut health, diet, and brain rewiring played in her healing journey. Lindsey is living proof that even after the deepest anxiety, panic, and dissociation, full recovery is possible. She now shares her journey and practical techniques with thousands through her Instagram community @amazing.anxiety, offering hope, empowerment, and real solutions to women all over the world. Send us a textThe weight of witnessing trauma daily doesn't just disappear when the uniform comes off. For our first responders—those who run toward danger while others flee—the psychological impact accumulates silently, often with devastating consequences.Beth Salmo, licensed professional counselor and owner of Thin Line Counseling, joins us to unveil the realities of mental health in emergency services. Drawing from her specialized experience working with police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and military personnel, Beth shares how the profession's culture of stoicism creates barriers to necessary care. Her journey into this work—sparked by the alcohol-related death of a former partner who was an ATF agent—reveals how even those trained to help others often struggle to seek help themselves. We dive deep into the misconceptions that keep first responders from therapy doors. "They can't take my gun" and "my department will find out" top the list of fears Beth dispels with clarity and compassion. She explains the iron-clad confidentiality that protects client-therapist relationships and how specialized clinicians understand the unique culture and challenges of emergency service work. The Missouri First Responder Provider Network emerges as a model program, connecting those in need with culturally competent therapists within days rather than the weeks or months typical of standard mental health services. This network of vetted professionals not only understands first responder culture but also provides financial assistance to ensure access regardless of economic barriers.Through authentic conversation peppered with unfiltered language that mirrors real first responder culture, Beth emphasizes that true strength lies in acknowledging human vulnerability. For those running toward danger every day, mental well-being isn't optional—it's essential maintenance that ensures they can continue serving when others need them most. You can connect with Beth through Thin Line Counseling by visiting www.tlc-help.com Follow her on Facebook www.facebook.com/thinlinecounselingservices and Instagram @tlc_help. The Poco a Poco Podcast with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal
Episode 263 - Freed by the Cross How can the wounds of Jesus at the cross set us free? Could the cross be more than a symbol—could it be an exorcism, a place of real freedom and healing? His open heart invites us to lay down our disordered loves and be delivered from the false attachments that enslave us. Could the cross be where we find freedom, not just from sin, but from the Egypt still within us? This is the freedom Jesus offers: deep, lasting, and born from love. Join us as we explore how the heart of Christ transforms and frees us at the deepest level. Send us a textThe journey from outward success to inner collapse—and the path back to authentic living—takes center stage in this compelling conversation with Nick Jonsson, international bestselling author and executive coach.Nick's story begins with transformation through adversity when a motorcycle accident in his twenties forced him from construction work to academia, eventually propelling him up the corporate ladder in Southeast Asia. Yet reaching the executive summit—complete with five-story house, drivers, and staff—marked not fulfillment but the beginning of his fall. "That was when I was the most ungrateful and sort of unhappy ever in my life," Nick reveals with striking candor. What followed was a three-year spiral into alcoholism, isolation, and despair as Nick traded his gym membership for a bar stool and healthy habits for fast food. His powerful description of addiction as "slow, gradual suicide" highlights how corporate culture often enables destructive behaviors while simultaneously isolating those suffering. As Nick explains, executives—particularly expatriates—face unique challenges navigating cultural differences while maintaining authentic connections. The conversation takes a powerful turn when Nick shares how vulnerability became his salvation. Opening up to his now-second wife began his recovery journey, while losing a friend to suicide in 2019 inspired his book "Executive Loneliness." Today, seven years sober, Nick leads support groups for men and senior executives, creating safe spaces where vulnerability becomes strength rather than weakness. Most compelling is Nick's transformation from success-driven executive to authentic human being. Now pursuing therapy credentials to specialize in addiction recovery, he shares how sports replaced alcohol as his connection medium—allowing this self-described introvert to build genuine relationships through side-by-side activities rather than face-to-face confrontation.Whether you're navigating leadership challenges, questioning conventional success metrics, or supporting someone through addiction, this episode offers profound insights into the power of authentic connection and the courage to show up as your true self.To reach Nick, go to his website: http://www.nickjonsson.com You can also find all his links at http://podfol.io/profile/nick-jonssonHis book "Executive Loneliness" can be purchased at http://www.nickjonsson.com/executive-loneliness-book Freed.ai: We'll Do Your SOAP Notes!Freed AI converts conversations into SOAP note.Use code Steve50 for $50 off the 1st month!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. In this week's episode, the Lautners are joined by Chad Franke for a conversation about growing up on YouTube as part of the massively followed family channel 8 Passengers, created by his mom, Ruby Franke. Chad opens up about the early days of vlogging, when the channel began to take off, and what it was like having his childhood shared with millions. He reflects on how personal struggles were often turned into content, and how the shift from casually being on camera to having moments staged for engagement began to affect him. Chad talks about the #FreeChad movement, sparked by concerns over his living situation, and what it was like watching the Hulu docuseries Devil in the Family for the first time. He also shares about the last time he spoke to his mom, the letters she's sent, his relationship with religion and God, and the gradual realization that what was happening wasn't okay. Chad discusses his close bond with his siblings and dad, his current relationship with social media, and why he's committed to keeping his future children offline. He also emphasizes the need for stricter regulations around monetizing minors and gives a look at what's next for him.Be sure to follow Chad https://www.instagram.com/chadwfranke/!To email us your questions or share your story, you can reach out to lautner.thesqueezepodcast@gmail.comBe sure to rate, review, and follow the podcast so you don't miss an episode! In this episode, Scott Becker pauses the business talk to honor Naomi Freed Becker, his extraordinary mother and family matriarch on her birthday.
This might be the most important episode we've ever released. Dr. Richard Freed, psychologist and author of Better Than Real Life, pulls back the curtain on persuasive design—the hidden psychological science used by tech companies to keep kids glued to their screens. These technologies aren't just entertaining—they're engineered by neuroscientists to exploit children's deepest instincts and hijack their brains. Most parents have never heard of this, yet it's quietly reshaping childhood as we know it. We talk about the ethics of manipulating kids, why screen time guidelines have mysteriously disappeared, and how AI is supercharging the problem. From children who won't get off devices to teens forming relationships with AI bots, Dr. Freed explains how we got here—and what we must do to reclaim real life for our kids. If you've felt like you're losing your child to a screen, this episode will help you understand why. ** Get your copy of Better Than Real Life here Learn more about Dr. Richard Freed here Learn more about your ad choices.
