Can a four-game series define a season? The Brooklyn Dodgers' “Boys Of Summer' are no longer boys. The defending World Series champions find themselves in a three-way brawl for the 1956 National League pennant with the young upstart Milwaukee Braves and the heavy-hitting Cincinnati Redlegs. Every head-to-head matchup carried the weight of a play-off game, and pressures both on- and off-field impacted the season. The middle of June brings Milwaukee to Brooklyn in what would prove to be a critical four-game series. The Dodgers won the first two games, putting them three up over the Braves. In response, the Braves decided the best option ahead of the doubleheader to close out the series was to fire their manager, Charlie Grimm. Coach Fred Haney is stepping into the Sunday doubleheader as The Man.His first game went the way of the Braves, thanks to Joe Adcock's legendary 550-foot home run onto the roof of the Ebbets Field grandstand. Now he's hoping that his style of discipline during at-bats and base running can split the series and propel the Braves towards their first World Series appearance as a Milwaukee-based team.Ewan Spence and the Classic Baseball Radio team bring you this recreated radio broadcast from June 17, 1956. Gemeinsam mit ANNIKA hat er gerade "How I Need It" veröffentlicht.Chiara Siracusa trat drei mal für Malta beim Song Contest an: 1998 mit "The One That I Love" und landete erst beim letzten Ländervoting vom 1. Platz auf den 3. Platz. RTÉ announced that Ireland would not participate in next year's Eurovision Song Contest over Israel's participation. We hear from former winner Johnny Logan; Julian Vignoles, former head of the Irish delegation; and Dean Vuletic, Eurovision historian.
As we approach the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, it's fun to take a look at how the ESC was viewed just 10 years ago - some songs remain as classic as ever, while some songs aren't nearly as beloved as they once were (cough_Believe_cough). But Graham Norton and Petra Mede give us a rollicking 90 minutes of ESC hits, and we ain't complaining. Jeremy finally counts himself as a denizen of the Forest, Dimitry has strong feelings about one particular winner's return, and Oscar rediscovers an early 21st century gem from France.Watch Eurovision's Greatest Hits here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ceireJeEwwVisit the archived website for the show here: https://web.archive.org/web/20150406071646/http://60th.eurovision.tv/Watch Electro Velvet's pre-show performance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iCwAUVTVdMThis week's companion playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6bSicY5EAEgPCQ3NhnB96x The Eurovangelists are Jeremy Bent, Oscar Montoya and Dimitry Pompée.The theme was arranged and recorded by Cody McCorry and Faye Fadem, and the logo was designed by Tom Deja.Production support for this show was provided by the Maximum Fun network. The show is edited by Jeremy Bent with audio mixing help was courtesy of Shane O'Connell.Find Eurovangelists on social media as @eurovangelists on Instagram and @eurovangelists.com on Bluesky, or send us an email at eurovangelists@gmail.com. At the SNUG Members' Day, a workshop featured Dr. Keith Mercer discussing his practice's migration to the Vision IT system, in an interview with National Facilitator Manager Dawn Ellis. Preparation The team used checklists, spreadsheets, and searches to prepare for the move from EMIS. Keith and the Practice Manager dedicated around 10–12 hours to data mapping, alongside routine work. Staff completed short e-Learning modules on the Vision training system and benefited from early adopter on-site training. Migration & Go-Live During migration, the practice offered urgent appointments only and kept patients informed. EMIS was still used for appointments and prescriptions, while clinical notes went into DACS before transferring to Vision. On go-live day, staff relied on trainer support. Controlled drug prescriptions were quickly added to Vision, and others were scanned into Docman. Post-Migration & Outcomes The first few weeks were challenging, with staff adapting to Vision and experiencing mental fatigue. Issues included printing prescriptions and Med3s, learning Vision Tasks, and setting up Mail Manager. However, the practice now appreciates Vision's efficient search, recalls, and modular layout. Keith advises that practices allocate plenty of time for training and preparation and not to underestimate the effort involved in the transition but concludes Vision does have some good functionality, such as better prescription and record-searching capabilities, and stresses the importance of adequate staffing and additional support during early migration stages. The history of Eurovision certainly can’t be told without discussing its first two-time winner, Johnny Logan. In this episode, we’re taking a look at Johnny’s winning songs and legacy, Ireland’s […]
The time has come to dive deep on the most iconic ESC artist of all time, the first two time winner of Eurovision, both as a performer and a songwriter: Johnny Logan. We're joined by Frank, the president of OGAE Ireland, to add the Irish perspective on Ireland's favorite son, at least when it comes to Eurovision. Jeremy's thinking about becoming electric, Dimitry's dreaming of Angelina, Frank suggests having a manager for every member of the entourage, and Oscar's just staring into those teary blue eyes. We highly recommend watching Johnny (and Linda's) performances on our YouTube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ9ZVEBuvgI&list=PLd2EbKTi9fyUKPTQlVb07QTI8evcQw_dX&index=1This week's companion playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/49K6osdnTd6EBYqRMt8b09?si=68d1a34154dc4522 The Eurovangelists are Jeremy Bent, Oscar Montoya and Dimitry Pompee. The theme was arranged and recorded by Cody McCorry and Faye Fadem, and the logo was designed by Tom Deja.Production support for this show was provided by the Maximum Fun network.Audio mixing help was courtesy of Shane O'Connell.Find Eurovangelists on social media as @eurovangelists on Twitter and Instagram, or send us an email at eurovangelists@gmail.com.

On this weeks Podcast Mairead pleads for a job for Eurovision next year - and Jenny is tagging along for the Swedish ride. There's chats about the Ninja Air Fryer, a Loofah Body scrub, Bomber jackets, Foxrock Fannys, stalking Cillian Murphy and spotting Johnny Logan on his holidays.
It's Eurovision week and while Ireland's Wild Youth fell at the first hurdle, this week's show looks at how our young footballers are beating the odds to compete on the European stage. Academy heads Mike Geoghegan (Waterford) and Craig Sexton (Bohs) drop by to discuss funding difficulties, staff shortages and the differences between Dublin and the rest of the country. Johnny Logan is on the menu at Rascals but our own Johnny is back in the virtual house with a viral Dan to discuss Galway rising, managerial clobber and the innocence of tunnel blocking teens. All with the usual undying support of Rascals Brewery, Collar and Cuff and Future Ticketing.
As this episode goes out Andy & Ryan are recovering from three frenetic weekends in Stockholm. After 2 Melfest specials, this is a return to our regular episode format with 7 songs in 7 different categories. First up is Portugal's sublime Saudade Saudade (a sad state of intense longing for someone or something that is absent) which is essentially group therapy in song form, for which the lead singer, MARO, is in a purple judo outfit. Then we have the irrepressible Krista Siegfrids singing the joyful and queer Marry Me back in 2013 which was in many ways ahead of its time with its drag kings, lesbian kiss and intention to represent sexual equality. Our ‘over 15 years ago' slot takes us back to 1998 and Netherlands legend Edsilia Rombley and her 4th place song Hemel & Aarde with its Mike and the Mechanics ‘bounce'. This episode's UK entry is Still in Love with You. Not exactly a favourite of Eurovision fans, but we consider it to be fun and feelgood even if the performance was a little lacking on the night. This is followed by the uber-controversial Icelandic mega-star Silvia Night - with her hotline to God - who almost everyone misunderstood back in 2006, so much so that the crowd booed her during the semi-final. We discuss how Silvia was a character rather than a real person and how she perhaps suffered more for her art because of her gender rather than what she said and did. Our Deuce award category is filled by the gravity-defying and ever-youthful Stig Rasta whose infectious pop song Interstellar (co-written with Melfest's Victor Crone) was a contender in the Estonian national final back in 2022. Finally, the Randomiser generously (?) gifts us the Swiss entry from 1980, Paola's Cinema, at a time in Eurovision history when every other song title was a place or an art form e.g. Colorado, Theatre, Amsterdam. Elsewhere in the episode, we rip into Johnny Logan and Andy has his Eurovision expert card revoked when he completely forgets about the existence of Duncan Lawrence! So… congratulations, we have arrived. We're Andy and Ryan and we're shining so bright. Eurovision nations, your dreams coming true. You've been waiting forever for a pod to save you. Wham, bam, boom! Neil Kulkarni, Simon Price and Al Needham hit the final straight on this very decent episode of The Pops. After getting our obligatory serving of the Nolans, it's the double-Harringtoned attack of The Beat, Kate Bush prepares to go Zorbing in a nudist camp, there's a GLORIOUS Number One, and then we have to listen to Johnny Logan's pain over some kaleidoscopic studio lights. And a BPT update!Video Playlist | Subscribe | Facebook | Twitter | The Chart Music Wiki | Patreon Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
All Eurovision fans know that these days singing early in the show has a detrimental effect on your final placing and in this episode we celebrate some of those ‘early doors' contestants. Cheeky Teo of Belarus kicks things off with the quirky Cheesecake, singing in the accursed second spot back in 2014. We are pleased to report that his spaghetti legs are still a marvel to behold. We concur that the next artist Birgitta Haukdal, who sang first in 2003, should have employed more gimmicks during the upbeat pop rock stylings of Open Your Heart but Andy still loves it and can't help but join in. Our third song is a Eurovision standard, Katja Ebstein's Theater, which nearly robbed Johnny Logan of his first win in 1980. While Ryan struggles with the mime artists, Andy revels in the translation of the lyrics. Next up, Javine's performance of Touch My Fire (again singing second, poor flower) is surprisingly good, but the Girls Aloud-related revelation it inspires Andy to share with Ryan makes the latter rethink their entire relationship! After enduring fake language entry Sanomi from Urban Trad, Ryan is on surer ground with Danny Saucedo who is this episode's Deuce award nominee despite only placing 7th at 2021's Melfest with Dandi Dansa. In a remarkable turn of events, closing out the show as ever, the Randomiser finally stops trolling us by choosing the super-important gay representation song Together by Ryan O'Shaughnessy who represented Ireland in 2018. And that's it. But what have we learned? Sing later in the contest if you want a higher placing and don't sing along to songs during a podcast recording session as it might just get played in! You have been warned. A message from Andy & Ryan: Please review us on Apple Podcasts and like and share our content wherever you can - it will help others find us and makes us happy. Thank you!
