W/C 27th April 2026It will become obvious when you listen to my week why I have picked this particular song as the title track. As you will hear I had considered A Legacy by Marillion, or In A Lifetime by Clannad, both of which would have captured the spirit of what I was talking about. But instead I went for the Jason Isbell one, because to me it talks more to the journey from the initial concept to where it eventually ended up.Stay safe.Jason Isbell - If It Takes A LifetimeDon't WordleJune Emerson Wind MusicTherapy For Me (or TFM as I now refer to it) is a bit of an audio curiosity. It started out as a mechanism for me to clear my head, with the hope that by saying stuff out loud it would act as a little bit of self-help. It's remains loose in style, fluid in terms of content and raw - it's a one take, press record and see what happens, affair. If you want to keep in touch with TFM and the other stuff I do then please follow me on Facebook, Insta, Twitter or Patreon. Thanks for getting this far.

And Then There Were Three …".

Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall.*Inniu an t-ochtú lá déag de mhí Aibreáin. Is mise Liam Ó Brádaigh.Tá deireadh tagtha le tréimhse 16 bliana de Viktor Orbán i gcumhacht le bua mór Peter Magyar i dtoghchán parlaiminte na hUngáire. Bhí slua níos mó ná mar a bhí riamh ann ag vótáil ar thodhchaí na tíre. In ainneoin tacaíocht láidir ó Trump agus Putin araon, theip ar Orbán tubaiste toghcháin a sheachaint. Tá sé fógartha ag Magyar go bhfuil sé i gceist aige beartais intíre neamhchoitianta Orbán a chur ar ceal agus caidrimh dhomhanda na hUngáire a athshocrú, go háirithe leis an Aontas Eorpach.Tá cáineadh déanta ag an Pápa Leo ar cheannairí a chaitheann billiúin ar chogaí agus dúirt sé go raibh an domhan “á scriosadh ag dornán tíoránach” i ráiteas thar a bheith láidir le linn cuairte ar Chamarún an tseachtain seo. Le roinnt laethanta anuas, tá an Pápa Leo XIV faoi ionsaí ag an Uachtarán Trump agus a chomhghuaillithe as diúltú tacú leis an gcogadh san Iaráin. Tá rialtas Trump ag iarraidh a chogadh san Iaráin a léiriú mar “chogadh cóir” atá tacaithe ag diagacht Chríostaí. Tá easaontas láidir déanta ag an bPápa Leo, áfach, ag rá roimhe seo nach n-éisteann Íosa “le paidreacha na ndaoine a théann i mbun cogaidh”.Tá ómós á thabhairt do réalta cheol na hÉireann, Máire Ní Bhraonáin, nó Moya Brennan, cumadóir amhrán, cláirseoir agus príomhamhránaí Clannad, a fuair bás ag 73 bliana d'aois. Ba bhall bunaidh den bhanna ceoil tíre Éireannach í, le beirt dá cuid deartháireacha agus beirt dá cuid uncailí, agus bhí cáil uirthi as a fuaim shainiúil. Bhain an banna rath mór idirnáisiúnta amach le linn a ngairme 40 bliain agus tháinig siad chun cinn i 1982 lena gceol ceannródaíoch don tsraith teilifíse, Harry's Game. Máire Ní Bhraonáin first achieved fame as the lead singer and harpist with the group Clannad from Dobhar in Gaoth Dobhair. Bhain Máire Ní Bhraonáin cáil amach ar an chéad dul síos mar phríomhamhránaí agus mar chláirseoir leis an ghrúpa Clannad as Dobhar i nGaoth Dobhair. Máire was the eldest of nine children – Clannad – who took music seriously since 1970. Ba í Máire an duine ba shine de naonúr clainne – Clannad – a chuaigh leis an cheol go dáiríre ó 1970. She, her sister Eithne (Enya) and her brothers captivated millions with their modern versions of Irish music before taking to the international stage and singing English songs. Chuir sí féin, a deirfiúr Eithne (Enya) agus a deartháireacha na milliúin faoi gheasa lena leaganacha nua-aimseartha ar cheoltaí Gaeilge sular thug siad faoin stáitse idirnáisiúnta agus faoi amhráin Bhéarla. It was their own Irish language song they recorded for the television series Harry’s Game in 1982 that introduced them to the wider world outside of Ireland. Ba é a n-amhrán Gaeilge féin a thaifead siad faoi choinne na sraithe teilifíse Harry’s Game i 1982 a chuir in aithne iad don saol mór taobh amuigh d’Éirinn. “The east and the west, which have always come, the moon and the sun will go… “Imeoidh soir is siar, a dtáinig ariamh, an ghealach is an ghrian … ” – part of the significance of those lyrics and Máire’s magical voice together. ” – cuid suntais na liricí sin agus guth draíochtúil Mháire in éineacht. From a young age, Máire was involved in music at home with her mother Máire Ní Dhúgáin, later in dance halls and in her father’s pub, Leo Brennan, and in local gigs in Gaoth Dobhair. Ó bhí Mháire ina girseach bheag bhí sí ag gabháil cheoil sa bhaile lena máthair Máire Ní Dhúgáin, níos moille i hallaí damhsa agus i dteach tábhairne a hathar, Leo Brennan, agus i ngeamaireachtaí áitiúla I nGaoth Dobhair. Much later, she recorded music with some of the greatest performers of her time, such as Bono and Shane MacGowan. I bhfad ina dhiaidh sin, thaifead sí ceol i gcuideachta roinnt de mhóroirfidigh a linne, leithéidí Bono agus Shane MacGowan. She recorded a total of 25 albums – with Clannad and on her own – and sold 20 million of them. 25 albam san iomlán a thaifead sí – le Clannad agus ina haonar – agus díoladh 20 milliún acu. In the Year of the Millennium, she sang her song Perfect Time on World Youth Day in Rome in front of Pope John Paul II and two million pilgrims. I mBliain na Mílaoise, cheol sí a hamhrán Perfect Time ar Lá Domhanda na hÓige sa Róimh os comhair an Phápa Eoin Pól II agus dhá mhilliún oilithreach. Her voice can also be heard on major films such as Titanic, King Arthur and To End All Wars. Tá a guth le cluinstin fosta ar scannáin mhóra mar Titanic, King Arthur agus To End All Wars. Since 2007, Moya has performed in the female group T with the Maggies with Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Maighread and Tríona NÍ Dhomhnaill. Ó 2007, sheinn Moya sa ghrúpa ban T with the Maggies le Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh agus Maighread agus Tríona NÍ Dhomhnaill. Since 2013 she has returned to harp music with a new traditional group. Moya often donated her musical talents free of charge to causes and charities close to her heart, including the families of the Creeslough disaster in her own county. Ba mhinic a bhronn Moya a bua féin ceoil in aisce ar lucht cúise agus ar chumainn charthanachta a bhí gar dá croí, teaghlaigh thubaiste an Chraoslaigh ina contae féin ina measc. In 2023, Máire was awarded the Donegal Personality of the Year Award and the following year Donegal County Council awarded her and Clannad the freedom of the county for their contributions to music and the Irish language. In 2023, bronnadh Gradam Phearsa Dhún na nGall ar Mháire agus an bhliain dar gcionn bhronn Comhairle Contae Dhún na nGall saoirse an chontae uirthi féin agus ar Chlannad as a raibh déanta acu ar son an cheoil agus na Gaeilge. June is an upcoming Irish singer/songwriter from Laois. Her songs span between alternative folk, pop and dance music with Irish traditional singing influences. The Laois native has performed 10 original songs at the Panache music festival in Hoylake, Liverpool and also performed at a “Beatles Day” in Albert Dock, Liverpool, covering a number of songs by The Beatles. She is inspired by an eclectic range of artists including Clannad, Sia and David Guetta. Driven by raw emotion and understated intensity, her new track “Nothing" blends moody production with an intimate, stripped-back approach that puts feeling front and center. Built around atmospheric textures, subtle dynamics, and a reflective melodic core, the song captures a sense of quiet tension and vulnerability that lingers long after it ends. Its minimalist arrangement allows every sonic detail to breathe, creating a cinematic, late-night feel that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable - truly capturing the feeling of emptiness.

In this episode of the XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar is joined by Moya Brennan — the unmistakable voice of Clannad, often hailed as the First Lady of Celtic Music. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Clannad's landmark 1985 album Macalla — a record that bridged ancient Celtic roots with modern pop and ambient textures. Produced by Steve Nye (Japan, David Sylvian) and recorded across Dublin, Surrey, and Switzerland, Macalla captured the moment when Irish music stepped confidently onto the global stage — featuring the iconic duet with Bono, In a Lifetime. In this conversation, Moya looks back on the creative and spiritual journey behind Macalla — from the evolving sound that carried Clannad from Donegal's Irish-speaking Gaeltacht region to worldwide acclaim, to the energy of recording during a golden era for Irish music, with U2 at Live Aid and the world discovering Celtic voices anew. She recalls the "lightning in a bottle" studio sessions with Bono and explores the deeper sense of faith, family, and identity that continues to echo through her work. "If Macalla helps someone feel something, even for a moment — that's what it was meant for." – Moya Brennan Moya also reflects on Clannad's role in reshaping how Irish music was seen around the world, and the blending of Gaelic language and modern production that became their signature sound. She discusses how her collaborations have taken her voice from folk stages to global dance floors — most famously with Chicane on Saltwater — and the enduring power of songs such as Closer to Your Heart, Buachaill Ón Éirne, Caisleán Óir, Almost Seems (Too Late to Turn), The Wild Cry, and Journey's End to connect generations. Listen to the full episode and join Moya Brennan as she reflects on 40 years of Macalla — the memories, the music, and the lasting echo of Clannad's legacy. For our 500th episode, we've prepared one of the biggest and best podcasts we've ever made. Following up on episode 499, where we counted down our favorite anime opening themes, our main topic today is our Top 10 Favorite Anime Ending Themes, and this one is even more exciting, with endings from shows like Dragon Ball, Haruhi Suzumiya, multiple Gundam shows, Clannad, and more tugging at our heartstrings and contributing massively to our connection with each of these great shows. Sean and Jonathan also talk about playing the Persona and Like a Dragon games the other person was playing a few months ago, recap this week's surprisingly packed Nintendo Direct, and review the final episodes of the new Doctor Who season, “The Legend of Ruby Sunday” and “Empire of Death.” There's also a very exciting surprise announcement about the future of the podcast, and our in-house composer Thomas Lack has not only helped us produce a spectacular opening song, but written a brand new anime-style end theme for The Weekly Stuff itself you'll get to see at the end of the show! Enjoy!Time Chart:Theme Song: 0:00:00 – 0:02:57 Intro: 0:02:57 – 0:12:19Stuff: 0:12:19 – 1:18:45Nintendo Direct News: 1:18:45 – 1:48:17Top 10 Anime Endings: 1:48:17 – 4:55:00Special Announcement: 4:55:00 – 5:04:14Doctor Who Finale: 5:04:14 – 5:56:59Final Thoughts: 5:56:59 – 6:46:56Ending Theme: 6:46:56 – 6:50:34Support the show at Ko-fi ☕️ https://ko-fi.com/weeklystuffRead the book 200 Reviews by Jonathan R. Part 1 of our Kyoto Vacation, ‘Crying is the Key to Happiness,' continues with 2007's Clannad, the first entry in a two-series journey adapting the legendary visual novel by Key VisualArts. And it is, immediately, a major artistic leap for Kyoto Animation, a stunningly animated, beautifully written, alternatingly hilarious and poignant portrait of high school friendship and romance. Before we even arrive at the darker, bolder narrative turns of the second season, Clannad After Story, the series' first half has us wondering if we're watching one of the greatest anime ever made. This one is the complete package, and we break it all down in detail, sharing the history behind the visual novel and the team at Kyoto Animation behind the anime, breaking down the story, characters, and animation, and generally gushing about a truly incredible work of art.  Enjoy, and come back next week as we review the second half of the Clannad saga with Clannad After Story!  Time Chart: Theme Song: 0:00:00 – 0:01:30  Intro and History: 0:01:30 – 0:50:11 Eyecatch Break: 0:50:11 – 0:50:48 Clannad Review: 0:50:48 – 3:33:36 End Theme: 3:33:36 – 3:34:38 Support the show at Ko-fi ☕️ https://ko-fi.com/weeklystuff Read the book 200 Reviews by Jonathan R. Part 1 of our Kyoto Vacation, ‘Crying is the Key to Happiness,' continues with our review of Kanon, a fascinating snapshot of two groups of storytellers finding their way: The team at Key VisualArts, for whom Kanon was their first original visual novel, and the artists at Kyoto Animation, who had already made Air the year before, and were now working with double the episode order and an even more confident sense of style. Sean and Jonathan disagree on exactly how effectively it all comes together, but there's no doubt there's a lot of artistry and passion on display, and that Kanon is – pardon the pun – a key stepping stone in the Kyoto Animation legend.  Enjoy, and come back next week as we review the first season of Clannad, one of the most beloved anime of all time!  Time Chart: Theme Song: 0:00:00 – 0:01:30 Intro and History: 0:01:30 – 0:52:13 Eyecatch Break: 0:52:13 – 0:52:47 Kanon Review: 0:52:47 – 3:14:09 End Theme: 3:14:09 – 3:15:11  Support the show at Ko-fi ☕️ https://ko-fi.com/weeklystuff Read the book 200 Reviews by Jonathan R.
