Josh, Dustin, and Raul react to Duke's blowout road win of the Miami Hurricanes. They dissect what might have been Duke's most complete performance of the season, a 84-55 domination that saw five players score in double figures. They talk about Duke's stifling switching defense, impressive dunks from Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski, and how Roach's senior campaign stacks up against Duke legend Quinn Cook. Then they look at the ACC Standings and talk about whether Duke can still win the league. Lastly, they give their predictions for Saturday's big matchup at Wake Forest. AHHH WELCOME BACK for our inaugural interview on Do I Know You? featuring my queen and older sister bestie, Gia Cook! You may know her brother, Quinn Cook, who's a 2-time NBA champion and incredible basketball player and person. But we're here to highlight Gia's story who self identifies as a “retired pop princess”...how fabulous. Not too many ways to describe her besides: THEE MOMENT! We're talking about her music career, meeting Beyonce (twice…I know), dodging Twitter trolls, rejecting strangers who ask us to “Call Lebron” (deep eye roll), and most importantly her key to living unapologetically as her truest self! I told you Thursdays would be your favorite day of the week - cheers to you! :) ***If you want to WATCH the talk show, head over to Youtube to see the video format!! XO***
Kameron Taylor was playing on the Freshman team his first year at Dematha, before joining the varsity in his junior season. He went under the radar during his time their playing behind guys like Quinn Cook, Victor Oladipo, Jerian Grant, and many other future professionals! He winded up at a small division 2 school called Seton Hill, and from there Kameron blossomed into a player that today, many ask how so many people let fly under the radar? In this episode, we touch on Kam's decision to stay at Dematha instead of transferring out, his decision to attend Seton Hill, and how he has been able to climb the ranks of Europe coming from a small school. We unpack his rise through Germany, and eventually, making it to the pinnacle of overseas basketball playing in the Euroleague with Maccabi Tel Aviv, and what that accomplishment meant to him. We then get to him earning an opportunity to play NBA Summer League with the Phoenix Suns, running into Steve Nash, and getting his first start Vs. The Lakers in primetime! Next Kam broke down his decision to come play in Spain for Girona, alongside future Hall of Famer Marc Gasol. Kam shares some amazing insight to playing with Marc in the late stages of his career, and what it's been like to pick his brain. Lastly, we bring it home to the DMV to discuss some Dematha hoops, and as always, discuss European fashion trends and London Fashion Week! The vibes are not as strong as the last episode because Kings got a bit of a reality check against the Suns. Coming into Wednesday's game, the Suns rested basically their entire 1st and 2nd unit, leaving only their 3rd and 4th units to face the Kings. In what is a very familiar sight, these scrappy Suns smacked the Kings in the mouth to start and outplayed them for much of the 1st half. While the Kings ultimately fought back and got things in order for them to pull out the win, it's very concerning that the ghost of Kangz past still haunts this team. The hope will be that these kinds of game happen less often this season because the Kings will need to win every game they can if they're serious about making the playoffs. In other Kings news, the Kings waived Quinn Cook and Kent Bazemore this morning, and then signed Wes Iwundu and Jordan Ford. Andy Hoops also posted a really good video on the history of Keegan Murray from high school all the way to now. And of course, we go over this week's episode of House of the Dragon in what was another wonderful episode that's built up major anticipation for the next episode.
