Recorded at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019. This is a panel discussion featuring the P-51 Mustang and WWII Triple Ace Bud Anderson. It is fascinating to hear Col. Anderson describe several of his 16 1/4 kills shooting down Nazi aircraft, including how you get a 1/4 kill. Hear stories directly from an American hero and legendary fighter pilot! In this episode, Kevin comes to you from Oshkosh 2019 and is talking with Gary Velasco of FightingColors.com who for over the last 20 plus years has taken his gift of painting and his love for aviation and turned it into a career that focuses on restoring history. Gary is a key part in restoring a warbird that once had nose art and he is the one that is able to bring it to life and recreate the colors and the piece of art work to scale and with even more detail than you could ever imagine. Gary is your one stop shop for anything that you needed replicated from our military's past when it comes to painting nose art or pin-up's. If you love Pin-ups and don't have an airplane to put one on that is ok as Gary has many designs you can choose from and he will create a small piece from history for your hangar or man cave as big or as small as you desire. In this episode you will learn about Gary and how Fightingcolors.com was founded and he will talk all about different art that he has done on many of the warbirds your use to seeing at your local airshow. This episode is a great one and I really enjoyed talking to Gary and I hope you enjoy listening just as much as I enjoyed doing the interview. EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) Topic of the show: RH and AG discuss the EAA AirVenture NOTAM; specifically, arrival procedures. We want everyone flying to EAA AirVenture to thoroughly read the NOTAM and be familiar with the details. According to the EAA “The free 32-page booklet is an absolute must if you're flying an aircraft to Oshkosh. It outlines all arrival/departure procedures, radio frequencies, Wittman Regional Airport details, and much more. Although many of the procedures are similar to previous years, there are updates in nearly every area to enhance safety, efficiency, and convenience for the thousands of airplanes expected at The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration. The EAA AirVenture NOTAM is required reading and should be part of a pilot's pre-flight preparation.” Fly safely and we will see you at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh! A special thank you to Mike from The Flying and Life Podcast. Mike sat down with RH to give some commentary on the details of the AirVenture NOTAM since he has done the arrival procedures himself. RH and Mike discuss NTSB Major Fly-In Tips. Another special thanks to Hillel for his great audio feedback! Links mentioned in his audio: SkyVector.com www.usairnet.com https://www.aopa.org/wx/ For more information on the NOTAM changes in 2019, click here. Have a great week and thanks for listening!
