Un brindis por sus 35 años de carrera en el que Mikel ha querido compartir canciones de todo su repertorio —en solitario y con Duncan Dhu— con una veintena de amigos músicos que le acompañan a dúo o a trío. Con motivo de la muerte de la muerte de Rafael Berrio, Quique González le propuso a Erentxun hacer una de las canciones que Berrio y él habían escrito junto a modo de homenaje. Nos ponemos sentimentales. No vamos a México con “Esqueletos muertos” de Los Mundos, tema perteneciente a su séptimo álbum “La fortaleza de Sonido. Luis Angel Martínez y Alejandro Elizondo capitanean este proyecto que explora los distintos rostros de la psicodelia desde su natal Monterrey, Nuevo León. Baterías que emergen del subsuelo, guitarras que atraviesan distintos planos dimensionales, teclados que conectan con civilizaciones antiguas y voces que emanan lujuria. “Bobby Malone Moves Home” de Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, fue un grupo comandado por el músico estadounidense Owen Ashworth . Que componía su música utilizando simples teclados a pila Casio y otros instrumentos electrónicos , una canción que de alguna manera parece emparentada con la serie que vamos a comentar hoy. El Lo-FI llega más el corazón como los viejos discos de Gardel. "The Holding Hand", es una nueva canción de la banda de punk danesa Iceage , formada en el 2008 en la ciudad de Copenhague con una fuerte influencia heredada del punk rock de los años 70's, caracterizados por sus sonidos veloces y experimentales. Ha incursionado también en géneros como el hardcore punk, art punk y indie rock, siendo comparados con Fugazi. La canción es un lento avance hacia un feroz exorcismo. Esta serie documental es uno de los experimentos más divertidos y creativos que ha parido la televisión este año, pero no se parece a nada que hayas visto antes. Es una lección de vida en la que un hombre utiliza Nueva York como paleta para hablar de los andamios, la memoria o los prepucios. Todo ello bañado con una capa de nostalgia y ternura inesperada en una producción con la que reírse a carcajadas.

Advance Base is Owen Ashworth, a Chicago-based musician formerly known as Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. Owen has been active since 1997 and was fixture of the Tomlab label until he started his own Orindal Records. Owen and I sat down in the basement of Silent Barn this past February and discussed getting started, losing hearing, literary influences and all the companions Owen has gathered over the years.
