The USA was on fire in 1969 with Vietnam War protests and such. Everyone had a voice and wanted to be heard. But they also wanted to be SEEN. It was a flashy year of afros, flower power, bouncy boob-curtains and bush. The last year of the sixties was an eccentric one - and it was largely soundtracked by the four average Americans of Creedence Clearwater Revival. CCR dropped three in 1969 and Green River gets the gold star on it's forehead. Roots rock classic for your face.
The boys predictably back out of rock retirement, make a run to the border to avoid draft orders, and use the scientific method to conduct an autopsy on the corpse of Creedence Clearwater Revival's escapist hit, “Up Around the Bend.” News items and digressions include childhood bowl cuts and swampy nether regions.

In 1969, Creedence Clearwater Revival were unstoppable — and ‘Green River' proved why. Hot off the success of ‘Bayou Country', CCR delivered a masterclass in American rock, blending swampy grooves, bluesy riffs, and excellent storytelling. Tracks like “Bad Moon Rising” and “Green River” became instant classics, while the poignant “Lodi” showed a more reflective side of the band. Despite its short, punchy songs and straightforward style, ‘Green River' left an enormous impact — shaping roots rock and cementing CCR's place among the legends of that era.Episode Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6CzynKICOTJryzSDUxROtv?si=898d6d84d0fe4759* Follow Long Live Rock 'N' Roll online: https://linktr.ee/longlivernrpod* Get in touch and/or leave us a review: longliverocknrollpodcast@gmail.com* Listen & Review us on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/long-live-rock-n-roll/id1581139831* Listen & Review us on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2wZW1BYAw9wJ6Z5blo2uGj#CreedenceClearwaterRevival #CCR #GreenRiver #JohnFogerty #ClassicRock #SwampRock #RootsRock #60sRock #RockLegends #BadMoonRising #Lodi #RockHistory #AlbumReview #MusicPodcast #RocknRoll #IconicAlbums

In this episode of Dem Vinyl Boyz, we dive into one of the most essential greatest hits compilations of all time—Chronicle, Vol. 1 by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Released in 1976, this collection of timeless classics showcases the raw energy, storytelling, and swamp rock sound that made CCR one of the defining bands of the late 60s and early 70s. With unforgettable tracks like "Bad Moon Rising," "Proud Mary," "Fortunate Son," and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?," Chronicle, Vol. 1 is packed with hit after hit. These songs became anthems of the Vietnam War era, resonating with themes of working-class struggle, rebellion, and the American experience. John Fogerty’s gritty vocals and driving guitar riffs gave CCR a distinct sound that blended rock, blues, and country influences. In this episode, we’ll explore the impact of CCR’s music, the stories behind these legendary tracks, and how Chronicle, Vol. 1 remains a must-have album for rock fans. TALK ABOUT THE DIPS, NOT JUST THE TRIPSImportance of authenticity:Sharing genuine stories and vulnerabilities is key to building trust, while inauthentic attempts at emotional storytelling can be easily detected by audiences and may even backfire. DON”T BE VANILLA. HAVE A STYLE. TAKE RISKS The great Oscar Wilde quote goes "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken" Authentic voice: Speak in a way that feels natural to you, reflecting your personality. Wear what makes you comfortable. NOT EVERYTHING IS A HIT Not everything you do is going to be awesome or even resonate. That's ok. Not everything needs to be a No. 1. In fact, it's rare to have a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 because only about 3.7% of songs on the chart have reached that position. Some of the most popular artists who have never achieved a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 include: Bruce Springsteen, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Backstreet Boys, One Direction, Missy Elliott, Jimi Hendrix, and Tom Petty;Connect with us to get more Turned Onwww.turnedon.comFollow on IG @angelikenorrie and @davidnorrie.turnedonOfficial FB Community Page https://www.facebook.com/TurnedOnCommunity

Beave visits the home studios in Woodridge, IL for a jam-packed recap episode, eats 3,029 Hershey Kisses in the process, explains Mr. Pibb's pulling sponsorship because of his "Shawshank Redemption" review, and then slips into a diabetic coma under the holiday tree. The Bears and Browns are both forgettable, but we still talk NFL and the charmed Chiefs. Who can challenge them for NFL supremacy? Plus NBA, college hoops (Northwestern beats Illinois in Evanston), college football playoffs, "I Recommend", CCR's "Willy & The Poorboys", unknown Top 40 hits, and Beave and Len forget to rank the characters in "The Bear".

David Peña fell hard for New Haven style apizza, so after a deep research trip - where he spent time in some famous kitchens like Frank Pepe's - he returned to Texas with new vigor and the idea to replicate the traditional apizza (ah-BEETS) in the Lone Star state, about 30 minutes outside Dallas at Fortunate Son (yes, named for the Creedence Clearwater Revival song). --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pizzacity/support

I Put a Spell On You”.

BAD MOON RISING Spooky season is upon us! That means it's time for the annual Halloween special of That Song From That Movie. This year we are tackling John Landis' cult classic An American Werewolf in London. We have not 1, not 2 but 3 different versions of "Blue Moon" by Bobby Vinton, Sam Cooke, and The Marcels respectively. Plus "Bad Moon Rising" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. (Are you spotting a theme?) Alex is from the future, Ben is the only person responding and Dietrich gets confused with Teen Wolf. Creedence Clearwater Revival, known as CCR to many fans is one of the biggest bands ever. John Fogerty, Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and Tom Fogerty all founded the band. I had the pleasure to bassist Stu Cook about his ride to the top in the music industry and advice he has for the next generation. Stu discusses what auditioning for The Rolling Stones was like during my interview with him.

OPEN LINES THIS DAY IN ROCK HISTORY In 1972, Creedence Clearwater Revival officially disbanded, months after the release of their seventh and final studio album, Mardi Gras, and a year after the departure of founding member, Tom Fogerty. In 1976, Stevie Wonder‘s Songs In The Key Of Life went to No.1 on the US album chart. The seminal title, which features such songs as “Isn't She Lovely,” “I Wish,” and “Sir Duke,” became the artist's best-selling album and won Album of the Year at the 1977 Grammys. In 1982, Culture Club made a buzzworthy TV appearance on the UK's Top of the Pops, performing “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.” After the performance, frontman Boy George became a fixture on magazine covers, while the song quickly rose up the pop charts. In 2006, the legendary New York venue CBGBs closed its doors after 33 years. While the club was first intended to be a hub for country, bluegrass, and blues artists, it eventually became synonymous with the underground punk and new wave scene and served as a platform for such seminal artists as Blondie, Television, and The Ramones.
