Put us in, Coach! "Naked Lunch" is thrilled to welcome the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Famer John Fogerty -- who this week received the prestigious Johnny Mercer Award, the Songwriters Hall of Fame's highest honor -- along with our mutual buddy Brad Paisley for a great conversation, including a few questions sent from Phil. Brad and David have recently been collaborating on a new liner notes essay for the upcoming "Hall Of Fame" edition of John's classic "Centerfield" solo album. They discuss the impact of John's music with Creedence Clearwater Revival and beyond, baseball, and how "Centerfield" was one of the greatest comebacks of all-time, and started an ongoing revival in John's life and musical legacy. John Fogerty has had a few remakes and tributes to the original CCR material over the years. However, now with more creative freedom in part due to the Creedence Clearwater Revival's publishing rights back in Fogerty's hands, this time he records a true modern day studio tribute to the original material. Which songs are the best ones revisited on this album, you be the judge, in the meantime here I give my take. #ccr #creedenceclearwaterrevival #johnfogerty #legacy #ddclassicrock #rockon #podcast-Spotify Playlist Link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7EEjyb6VrPT6Yg4EQwGeI1?si=AQ1OpLyLQbOzU6kSY0kWSg

If you go looking for songs about the moon, they'll start falling out of the sky. Moon-themed songs are some of the oldest in recorded history as well as some of the most recent to hit the charts. They can be found connected to everything from organized religion to witchcraft, they come from all parts of the planet, and they show up in every genre of music. In honor of the 2026 blue moon, the hosts of "How We Heard It" embarked on a quest to find songs about the moon, and they were overwhelmed - not just by the sheer number of songs they found, but also by the extensive breadth of the songs. Earth's closest companion inspires all manner of emotions. And when you project your feelings on the moon, it reflects and enhances your mood. Are you feeling amorous? Lonely? Anxious? Content? Mysterious? Grounded? Gaze upon the moon and your feelings will intensify. In song, the moon can be blue, red, pink, silver and orange. It can be full, new, half ... or just a sliver. The phases of the moon can reflect the phases of life. Or the moon can just be an old goose. As the podcast's hosts discovered, the moon can be whatever you want it to be. And it seems like most artists have performed at least one song about the moon - from Frank Sinatra to Audrey Hepburn, from Elvis Presley to Creedence Clearwater Revival, from Van Morrison to Neil Young, and from Bjork to Bruno Mars. Just be careful with how hard you dig into moon-themed songs ... or you may end up seeing stars.
1) Fortunate son- Creedence Clearwater Revival. 2) The air that i breathe-The Hollies. 3) . House of the rising sun-The animals 4) California dreamin-The Mamas and the papas. 5) Happy together-The Turtles.

We don't need politicians and other nefarious actors telling us what our favorite songs mean. We have brains and ears and we also have the artists themselves to tell us the true meaning of the art they put into the world. Hosted on Acast. Berkshire Concert Choir, a 100+ voice community chorus based in Pittsfield MA, will perform 'Questions and Answers: American Echoes,' which addresses the American experience through the lens of a diverse program of music that asks and answers questions on May 9th and 10th.On the surface "Q & A" music has the fun of a puzzle, but the program digs deeper into the essential American freedom to question and to hold diverse perspectives, through choral classics, pop and rock from Marvin Gaye, Dolly Parton, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, to Civil Rights era classics from Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger.

In 1969, Creedence Clearwater Revival accomplished the unthinkable: releasing three career-defining albums in a single year. At the heart of this creative explosion was "Green River," a track that reached #2 on the charts and perfectly encapsulated the band's "swamp rock" aesthetic. Let's dive deep into the mastermind of John Fogerty, revealing how he his Rickenbacker and a solid-state Kustom amp to create the raw guitar tone that created an indelible riff. We also look at the locked-in rhythm section of Stu Cook and Doug Clifford and the driving force that Fogerty famously dubbed "chooglin'." Beyond the music, this episode uncovers the nostalgic and sociopolitical layers of the lyrics. While the song evokes the bayous of Louisiana, its true origins lie in Fogerty's childhood memories of Putah Creek in California… and a lime-flavored soda pop. We'll look at how the smoldering world of 1969—marked by the Vietnam War and recent political assassinations—crept into Fogerty's writing, transforming a childhood reminiscence into a plea for a simpler time. Whether you are a recording nerd interested in the studio minutia, or a casual fan of great rock, this episode offers a comprehensive look at a timeless American masterpiece. Face the Music: An Electric Light Orchestra Song-By-Song Podcast
After five albums within the span of two and a half years, Creedence Clearwater Revival was starting to have some issues. John Fogerty was the songwriter, lead guitarist, lead singer and producer for all of their material, and by Pendulum, their second album for 1970, that was wearing him down. Combine that with the rest of the band getting jealous of his frontman status and the cracks began to show. Y estos son los temas que hemos escuchado: "Have you ever seen the rain" "Run through the jungle" "Fortunate son" "Bad moon rising"
This week we conclude Jarvis' three-part interview of Cirith Ungol founder / drummer Robert Garven going back through the mists of time to the early days of that legendary band. Rob explains how vocalist Tim Baker came into the fold and talks about the previous singer, Neil Beattie. He goes on to tell the remarkable story of how the Frost and Fire debut album came to be. It was a completely DIY affair, from financing to recording to artwork to pressing to distribution, which was unheard of in those days. Rob also explains how he obtained the legal right to use the Cirith Ungol name from the Lord of the Rings books. It's a fascinating dive into a bygone era, at the very dawn of heavy metal in America. Hidy, friends and neighbors. Good to be partnering up with Claude on another podcasting project! This episode is about a song whose title vaguely sounds like the result of a chemical spill, but which is actually a classic piece of rockabilly. John Fogerty and his brother Tom were natives of Northern California, and their family vacations often were to a cabin in Yolo County, just west of Sacramento. That cabin was next to both a lake and a creek, and the Fogerty boys would play in and around that creek during vacations. And yes, you’ve guessed it, the water there did have a greenish tint because of algae and other natural phenomena. Coincidentally, Green River was John’s favorite flavor of soda pop as well (though I’m not sure I would drink anything with that name these days). Fast forward a few years to the mid 1960s, and John and Tom, along with their buddies Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, are in a local band called the Golliwogs. They picked a new name in January 1968, shortly after they got their record contract, and were thereafter known as Creedence Clearwater Revival. They followed the natural route of local gigs, then national tours, and then record releases. The song titles are familiar: Susie Q, Bad Moon Rising, Born on the Bayou, Proud Mary (which Claude covered on an episode of How Good It Is a while back, and then the song that hearkened back to John’s salad days at that creek in Yolo County. Give it a listen to see how Roy Orbison rubbed off on the boys from El Cerrito, and how the song fits into the overall CCR legacy. Click here for a transcript of this episode.

This is Play That Rock n' Roll's interview with STU COOK, legendary bassist of Creedence Clearwater Revival! Stu visited the show to promote an album he recorded (called "JACKDAWG") along with John McFee and Keith Knudson from The Doobie Brothers. In this conversation, we talk about how JACKDAWG got started, their songwriting process, why the album took so long to get a proper release, and how they came up with the name. Stu also tells the stories behind a few of the tracks, and shares his memories of drummer Keith Knudson. We also discuss two major aspects of Stu's career.
