Supply chain risk is about more than software and compliance checklists; it's about making informed decisions that strengthen security and support mission success. This week on Feds At the Edge, Ryan Lewis of the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology joins us to unpack the practical realities of managing supply-side risk in the public sector. Rather than getting bogged down in software bills of materials or endless certifications right out of the gate, Lewis advocates for a broader view of risk assessment, one that starts with developing vendor risk profiles and building genuine personal relationships with vendor representatives. He shares his strategy for balancing tight budget constraints with strict security requirements, urging organizations to evaluate the actual value of their data before deciding how to protect it and to thoroughly examine their existing tools before wasting resources on yet another solution. Tune in on your favorite podcasting platform today as Lewis highlights that securing the supply chain isn't just about compliance and technology. It's also about fostering an organizational culture of collaboration, integrity, and openness.

This week's Mixtape Rewind takes us back to season 2 where we started off looking at second albums from artists. We pull from a wide spectrum—Bowie and Springsteen, Weezer and George Strait, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Kacey Musgraves, Childish Gambino and AJR, Vampire Weekend, All-American Rejects, Foo Fighters, and Kanye—to map the patterns behind sophomore success. The result is a guided, story-rich playlist that shows how voice, risk, and timing can turn “album two” into the real breakthrough. We start with liftoff—David Bowie's Space Oddity—then punch into the live-wire storytelling of Springsteen's Rosalita. From there, the conversation pivots to reinvention: Weezer's Pinkerton, once dismissed, now revered for its raw edge; George Strait's grounded homesickness that proves classic country doesn't need novelty to resonate; and Macklemore's Thrift Shop, which became a phenomenon by celebrating thrift finds instead of luxury culture. You'll hear how Kacey Musgraves' Biscuits distills social wisdom into wry, singable lines, and how Childish Gambino's 3005 pairs melodic pull with a search for purpose that gives the hook real weight. We dig into narrative and craft, too. AJR's Netflix Trip turns The Office into a memory map for growing up, while Vampire Weekend's Horchata blends intricate arrangements with playful rhyme in a way that feels both brainy and breezy. Rock anchors the back half: All-American Rejects deliver a straight-shot hook with Dirty Little Secret, and Foo Fighters' Everlong crystallizes the band's identity as they evolve from a one-man debut to a full-force collective. We close on Kanye's Gone, a late-album standout from Late Registration that proves the deepest cuts often hold the longest fuse. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/78UWWKd8DuntJfsrnJRWEn?si=Jw_1rDNCQkGJFe1PONg-6ASpace Oddity by David BowieRosalita by Bruce SpringsteenThe Good Life by WeezerI Can't See Texas From Here by George StraitThrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan LewisBiscuits by Kacey Musgraves3005 by Childish GambinoNetflix Trip by AJRHorchata by Vampire WeekendDirty Little Secret by The All-American RejectsEverlong by Foo FighteresGone by Kanye West Support the showVisit us at https://www.superawesomemix.com to learn more about our app, our merchandise, our cards, and more!

Singer Wanz shares his extraordinary journey from near-retirement to international fame on The Neil Haley Show, recounting how one June evening phone call in 2012 changed his life forever. After decades of grinding in Seattle's music scene alongside friends who became members of Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam, Wanz had resigned himself to life as a software test engineer, believing there was no such thing as an old pop star. When he met Ben Haggerty (Macklemore) and Ryan Lewis for the first time, they were looking for a singer who sounded like the legendary West Coast hook singer Nate Dogg, and within 45 minutes, Wanz recorded what would become one of the most recognizable hooks in modern music. By August 29, 2012, when the "Thrift Shop" video dropped, Wanz watched in amazement as the numbers skyrocketed, leading him to quit his secure job with no savings or safety net after a sold-out show at San Francisco's Fillmore brought him to tears. At 53 years old, Wanz experienced the fulfillment of every dream he'd ever had as "Thrift Shop" topped charts worldwide and earned him two Grammy awards. He describes the electric moment of walking on stage as the crowd elevated to another level when he began singing, with thousands of voices joining his. After the "Thrift Shop" phenomenon peaked and touring with Macklemore ended, Wanz returned to his passion for creating original music, releasing a five-song EP called "Wander" about his journey through depression and back to hope. His tribute song "To Nate Dogg," featuring Warren G and earning the blessing of Nate Dogg's son, represents both homage to his inspiration and the beginning of his post-"Thrift Shop" career. Wanz's message to aspiring artists reflects his own improbable success story: never stop doing what makes you and others happy, because at any age and any moment, you never know where your passion might take you.

Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 13ú lá de mí Feabhra, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 2005 bhí bagairt ag Mary McAleese ó aontachtaí roimh a raibh sí chun taisteal chuig Sráid Seanchill I mBéal Feirste. Bhí na bagairt ann faoi cad a dúirt sí faoi Phrotastúnachas agus an tslí a raibh na bpáistí á foghlaim. I 2013 d'fhostaigh DCU bailitheoir fiach chun aimsiú mic léinn nár íoc a táillí ollscoile, rinne UL agus UCD an rud céanna. I 2005 bhí staidéar féidearthachta déanta don druileáil a dhéanamh do thobar mór d'ola agus gás ag cósta Baile an Mhuilinn. I 2013 rinne bean ó Mhaigh Eo achainí tar éis a chaill sí a fáinne gealltanais sa chontae. Dúirt sí go bhfuair sí amach gur chaill sí an fáinne chomh maith le cúpla fáinne eile nuair a bhí sí ag siúil ón Óstán Temple Gate chuig Óstán Old Ground. Sin Macklemore agus Ryan Lewis le Thrift shop – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 2013. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1996 tháinig an nuacht amach nach mbeadh Take That le chéile a thuilleadh. Tháinig an nuacht amach ag preasráiteas sa Hilton I Manchain. I 2012 bhuaigh Adele sé ghradam sa Grammy Awards. Bhí sí ainmnithe d'amhrán den bhliain do Rolling In The Deep agus fuair sí Grammy don amhrán Someone Like You. Chomh maith leis sin fuair sí gradam d'albam den bhliain do 21 agus fís den bhliain. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh Katie Hopkins sa Bhreatain I 1975 agus rugadh amhránaí Robbie Williams ar an lá seo sa Bhreatain I 1974 agus seo chuid de a amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo.

Zoe Rain is one of those photographers in the rare group of artists that was born to do what she does. Some people can learn to become amazing artists, while others, people like Zoe, seem to have a natural gift for seeing the world through a lens. At the young age of 20, Zoe was already touring with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and that work brought a bit of notoriety, to say the least. Since then, her work has graced the cover of Rolling Stone, appeared on subway car ads, and been plastered on billboards across the world. Working with some of the biggest names in music, including Chance The Rapper, Ed Sheeran, Christina Aguilera, Ke$ha and Vic Mensa, has brought Zoe into the world of successful commercial photographer - a leap many people in music photography dream of. From multiple opportunities as an Apple keynote speaker, to being on industry panels hosted by agencies including Soho, Havas, & Leo Burnette, Zoe is now a sought after artist, and speaker for some of the largest brands in the industry. Zoe's love of travel has led to her photojournalistic projects, involving intimate collaborations with nonprofits such as the 30-30 project & Construction for Change. This work includes Rain's portraiture series “Woman of Togo”, which has been featured in galleries across the US. After over a decade of success, Zoe is at the top of her game. Join commercial photographer and filmmaker Zoe Rain and me as we discuss everything from her life on the road with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, to her wonderful portrait work, and as we examine her portrait of Ed Sheeran, on this Behind the Shot. The rapper Macklemore and his collaborator Ryan Lewis had their first two singles go straight to number one (Thrift Shop and Can't Hold Us). Even more amazing, they did it without being signed to a major label. Macklemore joined Guy in 2023 to discuss why they stayed independent, his battle with addiction, why he feels indebted to the originators of hip-hop, and how to make music that means something.Macklemore's new album BEN came out March 3rd and can be ordered here.Links from the show:Video for "Otherside"Video for "Thrift Shop"Video for "Can't Hold Us"Video for "Glorious"Short Doc from tour with Imagine DragonsVideo for "Maniac"Video for "Faithful"See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
In this new episode Steven sits down with the American rapper and songwriter Macklemore. Ben Haggerty adopted the stage name of Macklemore when he began rapping at the age of 14, at the same time he was beginning his struggle with substance abuse. Ben released his debut album, ‘The Language of My World', in 2005. However, his struggles with addiction threaten to halt his musical career and he entered rehab in 2008. He started collaborating with the producer Ryan Lewis in 2009 and the pair released their album, ‘The Heist', in 2012. This album went on to win 4 Grammy Awards and become platinum certified. Since 2017, Ben has focused on his solo career, releasing the album ‘Gemini' and launching his golf-inspired clothing brand Bogey Boys in 2021. He has just released his third solo album, ‘Ben'. In this conversation Ben and Steven discuss topics, such as: Ben's struggle with addiction and relapsing How to be there for someone struggling with the disease of addiction Knowing the difference between what you want in the moment vs in the long term Removing your ego and being present during the creative process The double edged sword of social media You can listen to Macklemore's new album, ‘Ben', here: https://bit.ly/3oJlgPH Ben: Instagram: https://bit.ly/3LbbcGx Twitter: https://bit.ly/3HgwHoa Watch the episodes on Youtube - https://g2ul0.app.link/3kxINCANKsb Follow: Instagram: http://bit.ly/3nIkGAZ Twitter: http://bit.ly/3ztHuHm Linkedin: https://bit.ly/41Fl95Q Telegram: http://bit.ly/3nJYxST Sponsors: Bluejeans: https://g2ul0.app.link/NCgpGjVNKsb Huel: https://g2ul0.app.link/G4RjcdKNKsb
