GUESTS: Peter O'Brien: Most of my experiences are from a little freelance software development, a brief foray into the oil fields, and then VO2 Master. I've become a generalist in all things like corporate development, business development, marketing, promotion, sales, customer support, technical support, international shipping, accounting, grant writing, fundraising, legalities like patents, trademarks, and minute books, engineering, software/firmware development, project management, circuit board design, mechanical design, small-scale manufacturing, Human Resources, sysadmin, web hosting and Wordpress. I've first-hand learned how to start a company from nothing in your parent's basement to a scaling business that can stand on its own two feet with millions of dollars in funding both from grants and private equity, and with strong, increasing sales performance globally. One of my favourite accomplishments is in building a solid team, and somehow attracting a sizeable group of world-class people into the VO2 Master community. Personally, I swam for years in high school, got into cycling and triathlon, then rock climbing and multi-day backpacking. At two different points in my life I could ride 200+km on the bike and just barely do a one-handed chin-up. Second to athletics I love anything with an engine and have done some basic mechanical work on cars I've owned. Oh - in high school I serviced and cleaned people's bikes for a little cash that I used to build myself a mini bike shop. I started ripping apart old computers when I was 12, and started building simple circuits. I learned the very basics of coding in grade 8, self-taught. Released a PDF generating tool for Balance Point Racing when I was 17. Freelanced a little at 18-19 in C# WPF. Andrew Sellars: After 5 years as a competitive swim coach, and a Bachelor's Degree in Human Performance, I pursued a Masters Degree in Education (coaching studies) at the University of Victoria, where I was Assistant Coach to Dr. Peter Vizsolyi at the Varsity Level. I then pursued a career in Medicine, and completed specialized training in Anesthesia, where I continued to develop a deeper understanding of cardiopulmonary physiology. My passion for endurance sport, and coaching, led to the development of the Balance Point Racing Team, where the primary focus was on applying the most up to date research and testing methods to the development of individualized training plans for endurance athletes. As we continued to push the boundaries of what the testing equipment was capable of, I shared a vision with a young athlete, Peter Obrien, about what the future of physiologic testing could look like. With Peter, we went on to found VO2 Master, in order to create the first ever wireless, portable, and affordable VO2 testing equipment in the world. 10-2-2018 Passed Ball Show- John opens up the show with a brief recap of some of the sports happenings of this past weekend. Should he bet against himself? To vilify Peter O'Brien in the 2019 baseball season, Mets fans will prove their stupidity more than John can ever state on his own. O'Brien is not Chase Utley, Pete Rose, or John Rocker, nor Chipper Jones, Willie Stargell or Willie McCovey- you are booing him because he caught a ball? For doing his job? The most redundant thing in baseball is throwing the ball to third or first base on the third out on a strikeout. John takes out his frustration on this pointless act. Are the Athletics throwing in the towel against the Yankees in the Wild Card Game this Wednesday? John ranks the 32 NFL starting quarterbacks in order of worst to best.
Peter O'Brien put together another multi-hit effort for the Marlins but it wasn't enough in Game 1 vs. the Reds last night.

Who doesn't love to talk about fantasy baseball prospects? In this episode, Bobby Sylvester is joined by Mike Rosenbaum of MLB Pipeline to discuss all up and comers for the season. Starting with a few impact bats, they're looking at the fantasy value of Andrew Benintendi (2:03), Dansby Swanson (3:06), Yoan Moncada (6:13), Yulieski Gurriel (7:07), Aaron Judge (10:40), Manuel Margot (11:58), Ozzie Albies (12:18) and a couple power hitters in Dan Vogelbach (13:35) and Peter O'Brien (15:03). There are plenty more names including the likes of Franklin Barreto (15:31) and Austin Meadows (17:00) before switching over to the pitching prospects. It wouldn't be a discussion if the future aces weren't talked about - Alex Reyes (25:00), Tyler Glasnow (26:52), Jose De Leon (28:49) and Lucas Giolito (30:02). Like the hitters, there are no shortage of pitchers that are covered with Brent Honeywell leading the conversation (35:14), followed by Robert Stephenson (36:18), and Josh Hader (37:51). Be sure to listen all the way through as Bobby and Mike discuss a few names that are a ways off, but could develop into top 5 prospects down the line.
