Ellen Adair and Eric Gilde discuss the 1992 Babe Ruth biopic, "The Babe." They introduce the film (1:36), with an overview of the script, the cast, and filmmakers, and review the 20-80 baseball scouting grades for rating the film (4:05). Amount of Baseball (10:01) is surprisingly baffling for a relatively objective tool, but our scouts try to parse the true amount given the unsatisfying, nothing-but-dingers nature of the gameplay. There is a sad player comp. Baseball Accuracy (15:00) dives in on this film's Babe Ruth pitcher erasure, including striking out Ty Cobb, and inaccuracies with Ruth's first career game and his performance in the 1916 World Series. His time with the Orioles and Jack Dunn also elided, with some unfortunate consequences including the creation of his nickname. Some examination of very young George as a rapscallion, his home life, and his time at St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, plus Brother Matthias accuracy. Did Babe Ruth ever come late to a game drunk? There are many, many timeline problems, particularly with Claire and Helen. Ellen plays a game of What Year Is It. Discussion of Joe Dugan, Dorothy, Ruth punching an umpire, Ernie Shore's "combined" no-hitter, Eddie Bennett, Harry Frazee's sale of Ruth, the Called Shot, the Johnny Sylvester story, the feud with Lou Gehrig, and Ruth's "milk." Ruth's relationship with Miller Huggins, and his desire to become a manager himself, including anecdotes with Frank Navin and Connie Mack, are examined. WTF is up with the depiction of Ruth's athleticism, (including his purported use of a courtesy runner)? The final game has as many problems as the rest of the film. Storytelling (1:04:02) highlights this film's main problems: the classic biopic problem of trying to tell the entire life story, timeline jumbles, and the depiction of Ruth as a dumb man-child. Yankee Stadium propaganda. Ellen has a list of Unanswerable Questions. Score (1:20:10) envisions the scenario in which consummate professional Elmer Bernstein was asked to compose the music for this film. Acting (1:23:13) discusses this disappointing John Goodman performance, backed by a whole lot of It's Fine. Ellen uplifts one Trini Alvarado moment. Delightfulness of Catcher (1:29:00) had so many good catcher names and Ruth's own catcher feats as possible fodder, but nothing is made of them. Delightfulness of Announcer (1:30:31) considers the culpability of the announcers for the inaccuracies. Lack of Misogyny (1:33:40) has much to contend with given Ruth's biographical philandering, but somehow this movie makes it so, so much worse. No spoilers on the following segments: Yes or No (1:40:39), Six Degrees of Baseball (1:44:42), Favorite Moment (1:45:22) Least Favorite Moment (1:46:45), Scene We Would Have Liked to See (1:47:47), Dreamiest Player (1:49:50), Favorite Performance (1:50:28) and Next Time (1:51:36). One of the most awe-inspiring superstars of all time, Jimmie Foxx didn't start out that way, joining Connie Mack's Athletics at the age of 16. Foxx spent three years mostly ridiing the bench while he matured, during which, 100 years ago this week, he collected his first hit. Mike and Bill look back on The Beast's incredible career and sad end and find a lovable good-natured man who turned into a monster with a bat in his hands. Plus, happy birthday to Chris Carpenter and Nip Winters! And farewell to Jim Breazeale and Art Shallock.

Infinite Inning 324: The Way We Live Now (Again) In a largely improvised episode we reexperience current events through the lens of Joe DiMaggio's 1941 hitting streak, counting the days while the war stays away, while once again a government effort requires us to rally ‘round Jackie Robinson—and Abraham Lincoln too, and we do so while checking in on the better brand of shortstops offered by the Negro Leagues' Newark Eagles and Philadelphia Stars (and shame Connie Mack one more time). The Infinite Inning is not only about baseball but a state of mind. Steven Goldman discusses the game's present, past, and future with forays outside the foul lines to the culture at large. Expect stats, anecdotes, digressions, explorations of writing and fandom, and more Casey Stengel quotations than you thought possible. Along the way, they'll try to solve the puzzle that is the Infinite Inning: How do you find the joy in life when you can't get anybody out?

Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTHThe movie kicks off with a bad guy stealing some diamonds and then breaking a window. They steal some more jewelry and break another window. They find another box of goodies and break yet another window. Finally, they leave. While that's happening, we see that Hannah is baking a pie! She finds out that Connie Mack wants to come and film in her bakery! CONNIE MACK! She's a legend. And it gets better—they want Hannah to help! Obviously, Norman is around because he's in love with her, and he doesn't even know who Connie Mack is, but he's still impressed. Chad comes by to pick up some muffins for the crew and to see Hannah's face.Chad is a busy bee working on this burglary case. He's convinced he has the right guy but needs more evidence that the same person is involved in 13 break-ins.It's time for filming—Connie shows up and she's a bit of a diva. Hannah immediately catches on to the fact that Connie doesn't really know how to cook. Hannah tries to correct her at one point, which Connie doesn't appreciate, and pours a pie on her head. The producer apologizes to her afterward and confirms that Connie doesn't know how to cook. He asks her to go along with it for one more day. The next day, Hannah finds the producer, Hunt, dead. We see on his computer he was reading an article about the burglar—Chassley—that Chad was investigating.Obviously, Hannah begins to investigate herself. She catches Connie on the street, and it seems like she has a jaw problem she didn't have before. And no one can get in touch with Hunt's wife. Suspicious. She finds out that Hunt moved the booking to their town after finding out about the court case of Chassley, and that's what he was looking at on his computer. Sure is odd.As she's updating Chad on what she's found, a car comes speeding toward them and he has to pull her out of the way. What gives?!They decide they're going to set a trap by announcing very loudly that Hannah's mom is going out of town and is leaving all her expensive jewelry behind! It works. They catch the bad guy. Turns out it's Connie's assistant, who is Chassley's dad. She was going to stage a break-in that looked exactly like Chassley's to keep him from being convicted of all 13 break-ins. She killed Hunt because Hunt knew about what she was planning. Luckily, Chad calls her, figures out that she's in trouble, and comes to save the day.

The Rick Flynn Presents podcast is proud to announce that author TIM MANNERS joins us for this special show about a very special and talented legend, WAITE HOYT. Waite “Schoolboy” Hoyt's improbable baseball journey began when the 1915 New York Giants signed him as a high school junior, for no pay and a five-dollar bonus. After nearly having both his hands amputated and cavorting with men twice his age in the hardscrabble Minor Leagues, he somehow ended up the best pitcher for the New York Yankees in the 1920s. Based on a trove of Hoyt's writings and interview transcripts, Tim Manners has reanimated the baseball legend's untold story, entirely in Hoyt's own words. Schoolboy dives straight into early twentieth-century America and the birth of modern-day baseball, as well as Hoyt's defining conflict: Should he have pursued something more respectable than being the best pitcher on the 1927 New York Yankees, arguably the greatest baseball team of all time?Over his twenty-three-year professional baseball career, Hoyt won 237 big league games across 3,845 ⅔ innings—and one locker room brawl with Babe Ruth. He also became a vaudeville star who swapped dirty jokes with Mae West and drank champagne with Al Capone, a philosophizer who bonded with Lou Gehrig over the meaning of life, and a funeral director who left a body chilling in his trunk while pitching an afternoon game at Yankee Stadium.Hoyt shares his thoughts on famous moments in the golden age of baseball history; assesses baseball legends, including Ty Cobb, Stan Musial, and Pete Rose; and describes the strategies of baseball managers John McGraw, Miller Huggins, and Connie Mack. He writes at length about the art of pitching and how the game and its players changed—and didn't—over his lifetime. After retiring from baseball at thirty-eight and coming to terms with his alcoholism, Hoyt found some happiness as a family man and a beloved, pioneering Cincinnati Reds radio sportscaster with a Websterian vocabulary spiked with a Brooklyn accent. When Hoyt died in 1984 his foremost legacy may have been as a raconteur who punctuated his life story with awe-inspiring and jaw-dropping anecdotes. In Schoolboy he never flinches from an unsparing account of his remarkable and paradoxical eighty-four-year odyssey. About the author: Tim Manners is a writer, communications consultant and baseball fan. A magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University with a BA in history, he is a former FM-radio disc jockey, publicist and magazine publisher. Currently an essay specialist with The Manners Group, he is co-author of "Schoolboy: The Untold Journey of a Yankees Hero" (2024) with baseball great Waite Hoyt (University of Nebraska Press) and "Relevance: Making Stuff That Matters" (2008), published by Penguin/Portfolio. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rick-flynn/support

The Knicks and Rangers playoff runs made MSG a billion dollars. NFL teams make so much money and Boomer wants that to go to the players. Juan Soto crushed three home runs last night and the Yankees beat the White Sox. What teams will make $500 million offers to Soto? Malik Nabers has no doubt he will be ready for week 1. In the final segment of the hour, a listener sent Boomer a Precious Achiuwa rookie card and Gio replays a great point from BT about where Robert Saleh should be when it comes to Aaron Rodgers. Hour 2 Al's question to Aaron Rodgers about the Malaysian Air conspiracy has gone viral in the conspiracy community. This could be Al's crowning achievement. Jerry returns for an update but first we get a conspiracy update from Tom Izzo. Jerry begins with BT and Sal delivering another double entendre. Juan Soto hit three home runs but the White Sox walked him so he couldn't get number four. Jazz Chisholm Jr. has a UCL injury and Boomer reminds us diving into any base is dangerous. Paul Blackburn struggled in his Citi Field debut. Gio says he would fight that voice but everyone else is not sure. Austin Adams mocked the Mets “OMG” celebration after escaping a jam. Jeff Francoeur told a great story about getting out of a spring training game to golf with Tiger Woods. What kind of dog would Daniel Jones be? Dan Marino made a bad financial decision when being compensated for Ace Ventura. Sam Rosen is retiring after this season. In the final segment of the hour, we continue to compare Daniel Jones to a dog and discuss how the Giants need more toughness. Boomer wants to see what Daniel Jones can do with more opportunity.  Hour 3 The Mets wake up from their nap. The Yankees have all the pieces needed to win but have to hope Jazz Chisholm's injury isn't serious. An overnight caller known for pushing buttons tries to get under Boomer's skin. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Juan Soto's big night in the Windy City. The Mets had another embarrassing loss, this one at home against the A's. Austin Adams had fun at their expense. Gio can't wait to see Malik Nabers in game action. How common is it for legends to be around their former teams? Sam Rosen will retire after his 40th season in the booth. We look at numbers 31-100 on the Top 100 Giants list. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer and Gio agree that Robert Saleh sounded different yesterday and that's a good thing. Gio believes the adversity the Jets faced last year will help prepare them for this season. Hour 4 The whole show will be together for four days next week and Boomer is realizing how many days of his life he is getting back now that he won't be on The NFL Today. A caller is upset the Mets didn't sell at the trade deadline since they are now coming back to earth but Boomer and Gio agree that was not really an option. SNY's Kidcaster calls in with his dad. They want to know what he should wear when he calls an inning next week. Jerry is here for his final update of the day and begins with the positive, meaning the Yankees and Juan Soto. How does a cement truck overturn? That will lead to brutal traffic for Boomer and Gio on their drives home. Gio got stuck in the “Peter Schwartz-field” at Jets camp yesterday. The Moment of The Day involves a suggestion Brandon Tierney has for Robert Saleh and Aaron Rodgers. In the final segment of the show, there's never too much golf.

fWotD Episode 2637: 1912 suspension of Ty Cobb Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Wednesday, 24 July 2024 is 1912 suspension of Ty Cobb.During the 1912 baseball season, center fielder Ty Cobb of the Detroit Tigers was suspended for ten days. Cobb was at the time probably the biggest star in the major leagues. American League president Ban Johnson suspended and fined him $50 ($1,600 in 2023) for going into the stands at New York's Hilltop Park and beating Claude Lucker, a fan who had been heckling him.Cobb had been Lucker's verbal target throughout the four-game series between the Tigers and New York Yankees. By the fourth inning of the fourth game, on May 15, 1912, with the stream of insults continuing and questioning Cobb's racial ancestry, he lost his temper. He raced into the stands, punching and kicking Lucker, who due to an industrial accident had lost eight fingers and could not defend himself. Cobb was ejected from the game. These events were witnessed by Johnson, who suspended Cobb indefinitely. Since there were at the time few protections for ballplayers from the insults and hurled objects of fans, many took Cobb's side, including his teammates. After beating the Philadelphia Athletics on May 17, the Detroit players telegraphed Johnson that they would not play again until Cobb was reinstated. Johnson refused to do so. Seeking to avoid a $5,000 fine ($114,000 in 2023) if Detroit did not field a team, owner Frank Navin instructed manager Hughie Jennings to recruit a team. Aided by Connie Mack, the Philadelphia owner/manager, he did so. Facing baseball's World Champions, the replacement team lost 24–2. After the game, Johnson came to Philadelphia to negotiate with the players. Cobb urged them to go back to work, and they did. The striking players were fined, as was Cobb when his suspension was lifted on May 25, but all penalties were paid by Navin. Baseball's first major league strike, it had little effect, but teams put additional security into stadium seating areas. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:31 UTC on Wednesday, 24 July 2024.For the full current version of the article, see 1912 suspension of Ty Cobb on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm generative Matthew.

First-time sports historians Tom Delise and Jay Seaborg ("Foxy Ned Hanlon: The Baseball Life of a Hall of Fame Manager") join the podcast for a biographical look at one of baseball's most innovative managerial minds - and who just may be related to your humble host! "Foxy" Ned Hanlon was one of the major leagues' earliest tactical visionaries, who recognized the value of speed and strategy in generating runs long before the term “small ball” became popular.  Starting as a fine outfielder, Hanlon played 13 professional seasons with the Cleveland Blues, Detroit Wolverines, the Federal League's one-year Pittsburgh Burghers, Pittsburgh Pirates (neé Alleghenys), and (original American Association-then-National League) Baltimore Orioles - stealing 329 bases after stolen bases were first recorded in 1886.  Despite a modest .260 batting average, Hanlon was renowned for his speed and daring on the bases, as well as his defensive prowess, leading the National League in putouts in 1882 and 1884. Hanlon's managerial career began after participating in A.G. Spalding's “Around The World Baseball Tour” in the winter of 1888.  He became the player-manager of the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 1889 and supported the short-lived Players' League in 1890, where he posted a .383 on-base percentage.  Returning to the Alleghenys, Hanlon inadvertently contributed to the team's name change to Pirates due to his aggressive player acquisition tactics. In 1892, Hanlon took over the Baltimore Orioles and revolutionized the game with his “Inside Baseball” philosophy.  He emphasized teamwork, speed, and innovative plays like the hit-and-run, sacrifice bunt, and double steal. Hanlon also introduced the "Baltimore Chop" and was among the first to use a platoon system based on pitcher handedness.  Under his leadership, the Orioles transformed from cellar dwellers to dominant forces, capturing five NL pennants from 1894 to 1900. Hanlon's strategic genius earned him accolades from peers and successors. Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack regarded Hanlon as the greatest leader in baseball history, and in 1937, The Sporting News dubbed him “The Father of Modern Baseball.”  Ned Hanlon passed away on April 14, 1937, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1996, cementing his legacy as a pioneer of the sport. + + +   SUPPORT THE SHOW: "Good Seats" Show & Defunct Team Merch:  http://tee.pub/lic/RdiDZzQeHSY Buy Us a Coffee: https://ko-fi.com/goodseatsstillavailable     SPONSOR THANKS: Old School Shirts.com (promo code: GOODSEATS) https://oldschoolshirts.com/goodseats Royal Retros (promo code: SEATS): https://www.503-sports.com?aff=2   BUY/READ EARLY & OFTEN: Foxy Ned Hanlon: The Baseball Life of a Hall of Fame Manager (2024): https://amzn.to/3Vyge6v   FIND & FOLLOW: Website: https://goodseatsstillavailable.com/ X/Twitter: https://twitter.com/GoodSeatsStill Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goodseatsstillavailable/ Threads: https://www.threads.net/@goodseatsstillavailable Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GoodSeatsStillAvailable/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@goodseatsstillavailable

fWotD Episode 2505: Philadelphia Athletics 18, Cleveland Indians 17 (1932) Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Thursday, 14 March 2024 is Philadelphia Athletics 18, Cleveland Indians 17 (1932).On July 10, 1932, the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the Cleveland Indians 18–17 in eighteen innings, in a Major League Baseball game played at League Park in Cleveland. Several records were set during the game; Johnny Burnett of the Indians became the only player to hit safely nine (or even eight) times in a major league game. Cleveland's 33 hits and the combined number of hits by the two teams (58) are also major league records for a single game. Pitcher Eddie Rommel secured the win for the Athletics, pitching an American League record seventeen innings in relief after Philadelphia's Lew Krausse gave up three runs in the first inning. The 29 hits Rommel allowed are a major league record; the fourteen runs against him are also a major league record for the most allowed by a winning pitcher.Coming into the game, the Athletics, who were the three-time defending American League champions, trailed the New York Yankees in the standings by 71⁄2 games. Sunday baseball was still illegal in Philadelphia, forcing the Athletics to make one-game road trips on some Sundays, including July 10. With his pitching staff exhausted by six games in the previous three days, the owner and manager of the Athletics, Connie Mack, took only two pitchers on the train trip to Cleveland, giving the rest of the staff the day off. With no chance of being relieved except by a position player, Rommel pitched with mixed effectiveness, giving up six runs in the seventh inning but only two runs in the final nine innings of the game. He aided his own cause by getting three hits in seven at bats. Cleveland's Wes Ferrell took the loss after Jimmie Foxx got his sixth hit of the game and then scored. Foxx had already batted in eight runs, having hit three home runs and accumulated sixteen total bases, tying a record that has since been broken. The victory brought the Athletics to within six games of the Yankees, but they came no closer. Philadelphia finished the season in second place, and the Athletics did not win the pennant again for forty years. Neither Krausse nor Rommel pitched in the major leagues after 1932. The July 10 game was the 171st victory of Rommel's MLB career; he never won another major league game. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:52 UTC on Thursday, 14 March 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Philadelphia Athletics 18, Cleveland Indians 17 (1932) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Kimberly Standard.

2023 World Series Game 5 Rangers (90-72) @ Diamondbacks (84-78) TEX leads 3-1 The Texas Rangers stand just one win away from their first ever World Series Championship after taking games three and four in convincing fashion. To seal the deal, they turn to one of the best postseason pitchers of this era, Nathan Eovaldi. The Texas-born righty has been electric this postseason and looks to become the first pitcher to ever win 5 starts* in a single postseason, and to have his team go 6-0 in those starts. Corey Seager continues to mash, adding two run homers in consecutive games to his stellar postseason résumé. If Texas secures victory in this game, he will likely become just the second position player to win multiple WS MVPS. The other, Mr. October, Reggie Jackson, of course, whom Seager just passed in all-time postseason HRs. The Rangers have benefited from production all throughout the lineup, including from youngsters Evan Carter and Josh Jung, as well as veterans Mitch Garver and Jonah Helm. They will be without ALCS MVP and game one hero Adolis García, who left game 3 with an oblique injury, but picking up some of the slack has been Marcus Semien, who appears to be righting the ship after an abysmal start to these playoffs. The Rangers are 10-0 on the road this postseason, and if they make it 11, it will put manager Bruce Bochy in exclusive company with 4 WS rings, which just 5 other managers* have accomplished. If they get it done tonight, that would also make it 4 WS clinched on the road for Boch. On the other side, Arizona will call upon ace Zac Gallen, who will need to be a lot sharper than he's been in the playoffs so far. Facing elimination, there will be no margin for error. Torey Lovullo's squad fought back hard to make game four interesting, but the story of this series has been Arizona's inability to get out to an early lead, save for game two. They've faced early deficits in 3 of the 4 games, and the comeback magic they relied upon so often this season has been absent as of late. These Dbacks have been counted out before, but we will see if the pressure of the World Series is too much for these underdogs. Can the Snakes stay alive, or will the Rangers be crowned as champions? Marco Polo, a nonprofit formed by a one-time aide to former President Trump to enable a team to take a deep dive into the laptop that the crack-addled Biden left at a Delaware repair store, claims the report is a road map for local, state, or federal prosecutors to pursue charges. The group also sent its report to each member of Congress. The timing of the report’s release, coming two weeks before the midterm elections, has a certain symmetry to the laptop’s initial introduction to the public. In 2020, days before the election, the New York Post published news of the laptop’s existence, as well as bombshells from it, but social media suppressed the story after the FBI had warned companies of so-called misinformation. This time around, the timing is similar, but other factors are reversed. Legacy outlets have acknowledged that the laptop’s files are authentic, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey admitted that censoring the laptop was a mistake, and the social media platform is being sold to free-speech advocate Elon Musk. The report, which reviewed the laptop’s emails, videos, calendar items, photographs, phone records, financial documents and more, but also provided context and explanation, serves as a “Rosetta Stone of white- and blue-collar crime under the patina of ‘the Delaware Way,’” the report says. “We were able to illuminate previously convoluted network webs of the people leading the charge for global governance,” cutting through shell companies and middlemen.” Crimes Hunter Biden allegedly committed include serving as an agent for foreign entities without disclosing it, tax fraud, and falsifying business documents. The alleged crimes also include prostitution, non-consensual pornography, and distribution of narcotics. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/washington-secrets/voters-agree-gop-to-take-house-senate Voters agree: GOP to take House and Senate Weeks of reporting that the Republicans are poised to take control of the House, and maybe the Senate, have sunk with voters who now mostly agree that the November elections should show Democrats the door. In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, just shared with Secrets, likely voters expect the Republicans to win control of the House. And it’s not even close, with 67% agreeing to 17% who don’t. Even 56% of Democrats expect their party to lose control of the House. As for the Senate, it's closer, with 58% of likely voters believing it’s likely the Republicans will edge out the Democrats. Just 25% don’t agree. Among Democrats, the split is even, 42% agree and 42% don’t. Much of the media have recently raised expectations that the House will turn red by 10-40 seats. There has been some reporting of tightening Senate races that could give the Republicans a 1-2 seat edge after the elections are over on Nov. 8. The survey also quizzed likely voters on if they plan to cast ballots early or on Election Day. Most, by a 53%-44% margin, chose Election Day, though that was mostly a GOP preference as with past elections. https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/matt-margolis/2022/10/20/former-fbi-official-will-testify-about-white-house-pressure-to-inflate-domestic-extremism-numbers-n1638595 Former FBI Official Will Testify About White House Pressure to Inflate Domestic Extremism Numbers Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee announced on Thursday that they would be calling a former top FBI official to testify before Congress to address claims that the Biden administration pressured agents to label cases as domestic extremism or a white supremacist threat even if they did not meet that criteria in order to match Joe Biden’s rhetoric. Last month, current and former FBI agents came forward claiming the Biden administration has been deliberately exaggerating the danger posed by white supremacists. According to the whistleblowers, high-ranking FBI officials were pressuring field agents to fabricate domestic terrorism cases and label people as white supremacists in order to “meet internal metrics.” “The demand for white supremacy” coming from FBI brass “vastly outstrips the supply of white supremacy,” one agent told the Washington Times. “We have more people assigned to investigate white supremacists than we can actually find.” On December 2, members of the House Judiciary Committee will interview Jill Sanborn, a former assistant director of the FBI Counterterrorism Division and executive assistant director of its National Security Branch, who has been accused of pressuring agents to reclassify cases per the White House’s requests. The FBI claims it only investigates those “who commit or intend to commit violence and criminal activity that constitutes a federal crime or poses a threat to national security” and that it does not target individuals or organizations based on their political beliefs. Last year, the administration previously came under fire for using the resources of the Department of Justice to target angry parents at school board meetings and treat them like domestic terrorists. Merrick Garland authorized the FBI to investigate parents who protested school board meetings alleging a “disturbing trend” of teachers being threatened or harassed. However, PJ Media’s Megan Fox looked into those allegations and concluded that they’re mostly bunk. https://thepoliticalinsider.com/arizona-refuses-to-comply-with-biden-demand-to-remove-makeshift-border-wall/ Arizona Refuses to Comply With Biden Demand to Remove Makeshift Border Wall Arizona’s Department of Emergency and Military Affairs is refusing a demand by the Biden administration to remove the shipping containers they are using to close gaps in the wall at the southern border. A letter written to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and signed by Allen Clark, Director of Arizona’s DEMA, states “the containers will remain in place until specific details regarding construction are provided.” Clark goes on to argue that the residents of Arizona “cannot rely on the federal government to ensure its security.” “The myriad of federal agencies that claim jurisdiction on the southern border but do nothing to prevent the public nuisance caused by illegal immigration and criminal activity that exploits the open border is quite frustrating to those that live, work and recreate on that border and in our state,” he added. The letter comes in response to a demand by the Biden administration to remove the shipping containers that are predominantly being used to seal up gaps in the border wall near Yuma. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation penned its own letter last week claiming Arizona’s shipping containers are trespassing on its lands and those of the Cocopah Indian Tribe’s West Reservation. The Bureau indicates contracts have been awarded to close the gaps in question and they ‘anticipate’ awarding more. As such, they insisted the containers be removed so the project can continue “without unnecessary delay.” Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order to seal up gaps in the border wall in August. Meaning the White House had no less than 18 months to get those contracts awarded and pushed out to start construction. The shipping containers stand 22 feet high, are welded together, and feature an additional four feet of razor wiring added to the top. Ducey’s reasoning behind installing the containers includes the Biden administration’s “lack of urgency on border security,” which he labeled a “dereliction of duty.” Armored Republic The Mission of Armored Republic is to Honor Christ by equipping Free Men with Tools of Liberty necessary to preserve God-given rights. Harvick got out of the gas and let Larson and Wallace race for the position. As they continued into turn four, Larson got loose and began to chase his car up the track inching ever close to Wallace. However, he never made contact with Wallace. Coming off the turn, Wallace slammed into the outside wall hard, bounced off it and down into Larson. Larson dove to the inside of the track to avoid Wallace. Wallace believing Larson had wronged him by chasing his car up the track chased him down the track and ran into his right rear quarter panel sending both cars spinning up the track. Larson would make contact with Christopher Bell before making contact with the wall. Wallace would smash nose first into the outside wall. NASCAR.com reports Wallace violated “Sections 4.3A and 4.4 C & E of the NASCAR Member Code of Conduct laid out in the NASCAR Rule Book. Rule 4.4.C lists “intentionally wrecking or spinning another vehicle, whether or not that vehicle is removed from Competition as a result’ as one of five member actions that could result in a penalty.” As noted above, NASCAR chose to suspend Wallace one race. NASCAR’s Chief Operating Officer Steve O’Donnell appeared on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio to explain the decision. https://twitter.com/i/status/1582488669625077762 - Play Video - 0:00-1:38 https://www.boundingintosports.com/2022/10/nhl-embraces-anti-white-racism-says-they-have-too-many-white-employees-aims-to-change-that/ NHL Embraces Anti-White Racism, Says They Have Too Many White Employees, Aims To Change That The National Hockey League (NHL) released a workforce demographic study as part of a report on “Accelerating Diversity & Inclusion” that claims the organization’s teams are too white and the league plans to make changes to reduce the percentage of white people that work for them. Introducing the report, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman made clear the organization’s goals saying, “Our belief is stronger than ever that hockey has a powerful platform to build character, teach life skills, and support our society and our communities.” As part of one of their initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion, the report notes, “The NHL developed a new, best-in-class Workforce Demographic Study to understand the diversity of full-time League and Club employees and accelerate inclusive hiring.” This Workforce Demographic Study was also highlighted as one of the NHL’s 7 Dimensions, specifically under their Employment section. This section specifically notes the NHL is engaging in racist activities, “Data from the survey will help guide future decision-making about our workforce. In late 2021, the NHL hired a full-time Director of Recruiting who is focused on attracting diverse talent to the organization. Additionally, the League engaged Jopwell with the intent of creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace by expanding our talent pool through Jopwell’s network of Black, Latinx, and Native American professionals.” The report further notes they will be excluding white people from a mentorship program, “Clubs are also taking action: 22 Clubs have launched or are about to launch a mentorship/fellowship/hiring program to develop BIPOC and female talent to work in the organization’s Hockey Operations or front office roles.”
