Although annual events such as the All-Star Game were cancelled this year, MLB still observed Jackie Robinson Day. Everybody wore 42 in honor of the American legend. Amed Rosario hit a walkoff home run for the Mets... at Yankee Stadium. The Angels traded Tommy La Stella to the A's in exchange for Franklin Barreto, a younger player with upside. All this (and more) on today's episode.
Episode 115 -- The Oakland Athletics decided to play on Wednesday and beat the Rangers 3-1, somehow. Franklin Barreto got his first start of the season and struck out three times and his misplay on a steal attempt led to the lone Texas run. Could Barreto become a trade piece in the coming week? In the second segment, Jason talks about what happened in the sports world on Wednesday. The NBA could be on the verge of cancelling their playoffs, the A's are going to discuss whether or not they'll play on Wednesday, and six MLB teams decided to strike on yesterday. The second half of the show is dedicated to shining a light on lesser-known athletes who have a ton of upside and can be had for next to nothing (32:57). Kevin Cash's unpredictability could lead to Jose Alvarado (42:09) becoming Tampa Bay's closer and Franklin Barreto (47:15) may be ready to break out. Paul Sporer of Rotographs joins the show to discuss which players you should be watching in dynasty leagues. One of the big questions on people's minds is which clubs are the mystery teams linked to Bryce Harper (2:33), is Jo Adell (21:48) currently being undervalued in dynasty formats, and is Kyle Tucker (29:25) the next best fantasy prospect to hold on to after Vladimir Guerrero Jr.? Shohei Ohtani (37:01) has a chance to get back on the mound in 2020, Freddy Peralta's (48:53) stellar fastball is a huge boon to his value, and it would be a mistake to forget about Franklin Barreto's (1:06:08) potential.

Jays Journal Podcast - July 5. "Start spreading the news."In what could best be described as perhaps the most surreal game of the year, the Toronto Blue Jays stormed out of New York with their first series win since the middle of June. Jesse sits down with host Ari Shapiro to discuss a variety of intriguing subjects including:The Lansing Lugnuts and what fans should really know about their Single-A affiliate (3:30); if team ownership is doing enough to support their athletes and proving grounds (5:41), why Vlad Guerrero jr. and Bo Bichette could own this entire city in a few short years (6:46); does elite level talent in the system influence front office decisions with this 2017 team (10:05); his take on the current edition of the Jays and how this management group should be measured (11:31); on the great Anthopoulos minor league trade purge and player talent exodus (14:45); thoughts on Franklin Barreto and Josh Donaldson, intertwined (16:41); the baseball thesaurus and the awesome power behind the universal language of America's favourite pastime (18:09).Be sure to check out @AroundNest, @LansingLugnuts, and www.jessegoldbergstrassler.com
