It's Tuesday, June 17th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Adam McManus North Korean Christian, arrested in 2007, has disappeared International Christian Concern remembers another persecuted saint today among those who have disappeared into the hands of a tyrannical state.  Kim Sung-sik of North Korea, who was arrested at the age of 49 in 2007 at his home, was remembered for distributing Bibles and for handing out gifts to needy folks. A North Korean defector described this man of God as having “character like steel.” He never bowed to anyone, and would even confront public officers for accepting bribes. His grandfather was a Presbyterian minister who had been persecuted and imprisoned by the Communist regime. Sung-Sik's wife and children, who were also arrested, have also disappeared. According to Open Doors, North Korea is the most dangerous place worldwide to live  as a Christian. Chinese Communists want churches to sing worship songs praising communism The Chinese Communist Party, China's ruling political class, released a plan on May 7 mandating that Protestant churches include songs in their worship praising communism. Sadly, reports of Protestants representing the official Three-Self Patriotic church indicate they are complying with the new regulations. Nigerian Muslims massacred 200 villagers, mostly Catholic This just in from Truth Nigeria. Fulani Muslim jihadists massacred 200 villagers from the farming community in Guma County located in Benue State. Most of the residents are Catholics. Witnesses report that  40 gunmen stormed the village shouting “Allahu Akbar.” The terrorists opened fire on civilians while setting homes on fire, and killing indiscriminately. Over 10,000 survivors who escaped are now needing clean water, medical aid, and facilities to house them. Equipping the Persecuted ministry is collecting resources to provide for immediate needs.   Over the last two years, 10,217  Nigerians have been killed in Muslim-inspired massacres, and about 6,900 of those killings have occurred in Benue State. Israel bombed 80 more Iranian targets In its ongoing war with Iran, Israel bombed 80 more targets on Sunday. At least 200 Iranians have died thus far in the attacks. The International Atomic Energy Agency's director Rafael Grossi has stated that Iran's underground nuclear development has not been compromised at this point. Global military spending up 37% Sabers are rattling. Louder than ever. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute's Yearbook, published on Monday, world military spending rose by 37 percent in the past decade, and by 9.4 percent last year alone, to $2.7 trillion.  That's the largest bump since the early 1990s. China and India are installing nuclear bombs on warheads. That's a change in policy for these countries.   China is up to 600 nukes, and North Korea has enough fissile materials for 90 total warheads. Proverbs 21:31 says, “The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.” South Korea's largest homosexual pride parade South Korea is touting its largest homosexual pride parade ever this year.  The organizers claim 170,000 participants. South Korea has absorbed western immorality faster than other eastern countries. The proportion of South Koreans holding that homosexuality is never justified decreased from 67% in the 1990s to 24% in the most recent survey. That's even lower than Taiwan -- the most pro-homosexual country in Asia. The Christian faith is falling off by generations in South Korea. At this point, 29% of their elderly people adhere to the Protestant faith, but only 13% of the 18 to  29-year-old age group call themselves Protestant Christians. Psalm 78:9 warns of “The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. They did not keep the covenant of God; They refused to walk in His law, and forgot His works and His wonders that He had shown them.” The rise of apostacy in America and China Christian apostasy continues to rise across the world. The recent Pew Research report on worldwide religious affiliation found that 35 nations have seen an increase between 2010 and 2020 in atheism or a non-affiliation with a church. And 40 nations have seen a substantial decrease in people aligning themselves with the Christian faith.   Of all nations in the world, the United States has the second largest number of atheists or people unaffiliated with a church -- at 100 million people. China has the largest number of atheists or unaffiliated at 1.3 billion.   Christians are still in the majority in 60% of the world's nations, while Muslims are in the majority in 26% of the countries. U.S. unemployment 4.2%, but higher for recent college grads Unemployment in the United States is running at 4.2%. But for recent college grads  -- ages 22 through 27 -- the rate stands at 5.8% — the highest since 202, according to the US Labor Department. Minnesota political assassin captured Sunday night The gunman, Vance Boelter, wanted in the slaying of a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband, as well as in the shooting of a state senator and his wife, was found Sunday night armed and crawling in a field in a sparsely populated stretch of Minnesota, reports NBC News. Police Chief Mark Bruley of the Brooklyn Park Police Department said it was without a doubt the biggest manhunt in the state's history. Authorities allege Boelter, age 57, who posed as a policeman, tried to kill state Senator John Hoffman, a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, at their home in Champlin at roughly 2 a.m. Saturday before fatally shooting state Rep. Melissa Hortman, a 55-year-old Democrat, and her husband, Mark, in nearby Brooklyn Park. Boelter was arrested without incident.   His motive is still unclear. NBC Chicago reports that police found a manifesto in Boelter's car with the names of 70 politicians including those in Illinois and Wisconsin. fWotD Episode 2955: 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Confederate) Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Saturday, 7 June 2025, is 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Confederate). The 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment of the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. From May 1861, the war began affecting events in the state of Missouri. In 1862, Confederate recruiting activities took place in Missouri, and a cavalry regiment was formed in Oregon County, the nucleus being former members of the Missouri State Guard. On September 2, the unit entered Confederate service, but it was reclassified as infantry ten days later. After many of the men transferred to other units, the regiment was reclassified as a battalion on October 19 and named the 7th Missouri Infantry Battalion, also known as Mitchell's Missouri Infantry. It participated in a Confederate offensive at the Battle of Prairie Grove on December 7. During the battle, the unit made several charges against the Union lines but was repeatedly repulsed by artillery fire. The regiment spent most of early 1863 encamped near Little Rock and Pine Bluff in Arkansas. On July 23, 1863, the unit was officially named the 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment. Later that year, it was part of the abortive Confederate defense of Little Rock before retiring to Camp Bragg near Camden. In March 1864, the regiment was sent south into Louisiana to help defend against the Red River campaign. It was part of a failed attack at the Battle of Pleasant Hill on April 9. After the Union troops involved in the Red River campaign retreated, the 8th Missouri Infantry was sent back to Arkansas, where it pursued the retreating Union soldiers led by Major General Frederick Steele. The regiment took part in a failed attack against Steele on April 30 at the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry. For the remainder of 1864 and the first half of 1865, the unit was stationed at several points in Louisiana and Arkansas. The Confederate Trans-Mississippi Department surrendered on June 2, 1865, and the men of the 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment were paroled on June 7, ending the regiment's military service. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 01:04 UTC on Saturday, 7 June 2025.For the full current version of the article, see 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Confederate) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Amy.

fWotD Episode 2905: Battle of Poison Spring Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Friday, 18 April 2025 is Battle of Poison Spring. The Battle of Poison Spring, also known as the Poison Spring massacre, was fought in Ouachita County, Arkansas, on April 18, 1864, as part of the Camden Expedition, during the American Civil War. A Union force commanded by Major General Frederick Steele had moved from Little Rock, Arkansas, in support of Major General Nathaniel Banks's movement along the Red River towards Shreveport, Louisiana. Steele's objective was also Shreveport, and his men occupied Camden, Arkansas. After Banks was defeated at the battles of Mansfield and Pleasant Hill, Steele was isolated in Arkansas. Short on supplies, Steele sent a detachment commanded by Colonel James M. Williams on April 17 to forage for 5,000 bushels of corn that were reported to be in the area.Confederate cavalry commanded by John S. Marmaduke and Samuel B. Maxey attacked the foraging party. Marmaduke's men formed a roadblock east along the way back to Camden, while Maxey's men attacked from south of the road. The first two Confederate attacks were unsuccessful, but the third broke the Union line. Williams's command was routed, losing its wagon train and four cannons. African-American soldiers from the 1st Kansas Colored Infantry Regiment were massacred and mutilated during and after the battle. The defeat at Poison Spring and another defeat at the Battle of Marks' Mills a week later led Steele to retreat to Little Rock. In the April 30 Battle of Jenkins' Ferry, men from the 2nd Kansas Colored Infantry Regiment murdered Confederate soldiers in revenge of the massacre at Poison Spring. Poison Spring has been referred to as the worst massacre in the history of Arkansas. Poison Springs Battleground State Park, which is part of the Camden Expedition Sites National Historic Landmark, preserves a portion of the site of the battle. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:30 UTC on Friday, 18 April 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Battle of Poison Spring on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Joey.

He has carried on its legacy with a focus on sustainability and profitability. Del is also a founding member of the Graze Master Group which provides consulting services for farms and ranches, focusing on sustainable practices, optimizing resources, and fostering long-term profitability Del's journey began in conventional farming, but his experiences led him to question traditional methods that heavily relied on chemical inputs and intensive machinery. Transitioning to regenerative practices, he eliminated silage chopping and chemical fertilization, opting instead for rotational grazing and natural herd health management. I think that's definitely worth celebrating. It was a pleasure sitting down with Kate to talk about the difference the Nutrition Program is making in Saskatoon, and why this work means so much to her. You can follow and listen to YXE Underground wherever you find your favourite podcasts including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or the YXE Underground website. There is an organization in Saskatoon that works to strengthen the economic and social conditions of our city's core neighbourhoods. It's called Quint Development Corporation and it's an organization full of amazing leaders like Kristen Thoms and Julia McCormick. Kristen is Quint's Executive Director and has been with the organization for 18 years. Julia is the Director of Operations with Quint and has called it home for 11 years. Together, they oversee a team that is helping people in the core neighbourhoods find meaningful employment, move into safe and affordable housing, and spark a sense of pride in their neighbourhoods. How are they doing this you ask?I found out when Kristen and Julia took for me a walk through neighbourhoods like Riversdale and Pleasant Hill where they showed me the different ways Quint is helping people. We ended our walk in Optimist Park where you will hear the pride Kristen and Julia have in their work and why it means so much to them. They are both kind and warm people who love helping others and are truly invested in helping people who call the core neighbourhoods home improve their lives in meaningful ways. I learned so much in this conversation and I know you will too. You can listen to YXE Underground wherever you find your favourite podcasts including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Goodpods or on the website: yxeunderground.comPlease feel free to leave a 5-star review if you like what you hear. You can follow YXE Underground on social media. Matt Adamski, General Manager of Sweetens Cove Golf Club, joins Rob Thomas on the Club + Resort Talks podcast to discuss big plans for America's Sweetheart. Sweetens Cove, a 9-hole course in South Pittsburg, Tenn. known for its cult following and distinctive approach to golf, is set to expand. While the main course will remain at nine holes, the club is adding a par-3 short course along with a range of new amenities aimed at enhancing its appeal to traveling golfers. The expansion includes stay-and-play cabins, a restaurant, a distillery, a putting green, a fishing dock, and a skeet shooting range, designed to create a comprehensive destination experience. The original architects of Sweetens Cove, Rob Collins and Tad King, will return to design the new short course. Known for their work at Landmand in Nebraska, their new design will emphasize creativity and flexibility, allowing golfers to experience the course in multiple ways. Also on this podcast, Thomas shares news out of PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club in Menlo Park, Calif.; and Contra Costa Country Club in Pleasant Hill, Calif. PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is poised for a significant ownership change, with reports indicating a potential sale to Henderson Park, a London-based private equity real estate firm, for $425 million. This price reflects approximately $1.3 million per room, positioning the resort as a high-value property in the competitive luxury golf market. The 800-acre resort has seen multiple ownership changes over the years. Its current owner, Toronto-based Brookfield Asset Management, acquired PGA National in 2018 for $218 million. Since then, Brookfield invested more than $100 million in comprehensive renovations, enhancing the hotel, spa, restaurants, lobby, and its six golf courses. Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club in Menlo Park, Calif., has reopened with a refreshed and enhanced golf experience after a $23 million renovation by Todd Eckenrode and Origins Golf Design. Approved by the club in 2019, this comprehensive redesign spanned all 18 holes and was crafted to create a more engaging layout, elevate aesthetics, and support the club's sustainability goals. The extensive renovation, which began in April 2023, revamped all tees, fairways, bunkers, and greens. The design incorporated strategic widths that add variety to each play, unveiling new layers of challenge and enjoyment for golfers. Eckenrode's vision resulted in what members now enjoy as a transformed course with a unique, engaging experience. Lastly, members of Contra Costa Country Club in Pleasant Hill, Calif. recently raised $54,000 for PLAY for P.I.N.K., a national charity funding breast cancer research, with more donations still coming in. Funds were raised through a Sept. 13 golf tournament, dinner and silent auction for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In the last two years the club has raised $99,000 for breast cancer research and awareness, and since 2012 more than $192,000.

In this raw and vulnerable episode of "The Make Room Show," I'm opening up about the reasons behind an unexpected six-week hiatus. I'm giving you insights on some personal struggles with burnout professionally, and a harrowing near-death experience that forced me to confront the unsustainable pace of my life and reevaluate my priorities. Instead of allowing myself to feel guilty for stepping back to care for myself, I gave myself a PERMISSION SLIP - to slow down, take necessary breaks, and focus on self-care. Real strength lies in recognizing one's limits and taking steps to address them before reaching a crisis point - which I had to learn the hard way. My hope is that through being vulnerable and sharing this with you, I can inspire you to make similar choices towards a healthier, more balanced life. I'm taking the next couple of weeks to really dive deep into what all these recent events mean for me and my life. I'll be keeping you updated on this journey as things unfold because you, my dear listeners, truly deserve to hear this insight. I'm not entirely sure what's going to emerge from this period of reflection, but I feel it's going to be significant, different, and hopefully, a lot easier. I'm stepping back from the constant hustle, the endless to-dos we all think we need to accomplish daily. It's become clear that this rat race isn't making us happier, and that needs to change. Do you have a checklist of essentials for a property you'd like to buy? Or you might be upgrading a home for sale, or renovating a property for future tenants, or making design choices for a development project. Whatever direction you are headed with real estate, it's a good idea to know what's trending right now in the real estate market.   The National Association of Realtors just published an interesting list of real estate trends to watch over the next year, and I thought I'd share some of the insights from this article. The NAR article also advised readers that trends can change so make sure that you're not “just” following trends, but doing something that makes sense for you and/or the future residents – something that will create “joy” is the way the author put it...   ...That's it for today. You'll find a link to that article in the show notes at newsforinvestors.com. You'll also learn more about the ever-changing real estate market by joining RealWealth. It's free to join and free to explore our website. You'll find hundreds of webinars, more than a dozen markets that have grabbed the attention of real estate investors, and pages devoted to sample properties and property teams that you can contact. Members with questions can also speak with our investment counselors who will be happy to answer any questions.    If you'd like to learn more about real estate investing, please come to our live event in Pleasant Hill, California this Saturday, January 20th. Visit growdevelopments.com, that's our syndication company, and click on the Events tab.    I also encourage you to subscribe to this podcast if you haven't already. And when you have a moment, leave us a review. It really helps us!   Thanks for listening!
