Colonel Jeff Williams draws from Job 28 and other Scripture to consider the fear of the Lord as the beginning of true wisdom. Emphasizing that human achievement cannot attain divine understanding, he underscores how wisdom is granted only by God's grace. The fear of the Lord is presented not only as the start of knowledge but also as a guiding light for all of life's vocations and decisions.Q1: Did you get a chance to witness to the Russians or others during your space flights?Q2: Did going to space change your relationship with God or affect your faith?Q3: (From the back of the room, summarized as a general question about applying wisdom in a fallen world, possibly in government or vocational settings.) Pastor Chad came with a great message last night preaching on Proverbs 23 about alcohol — not just the bottle, but the battle behind it. 5 Warnings We Can't Ignore: 1. It can cause problems – What are you lingering around? 2. It looks good… at first – It may sparkle, but it bites. 3. It poisons – Some of us know the sting too well. 4. It impairs – Convictions get blurry when you're not sober. 5. It consumes – “You don't know what you're willing to risk for the bottle.” Drunkenness is the sin, not the sip — but wisdom is knowing where the line is. If you're struggling in your relationship with alcohol don't be afraid to seek the resources you need! -Call the Alcohol Abuse Hotline: 1-800-662-4357 -Consider Re:Gen At Abundant Life -Schedule an appointment with Abundant Life's Counseling Center Missed last night's message? "Come, let us drink deeply of love till morning. Let us enjoy ourselves with love!"Such is the siren call of the adulterous older woman, intent on seducing a foolish yet lustful young man while her husband is away on business. This is a one way street from which there is no return, Solomon advises his son, It is fair to say this is one of the more colourful sections of the Bible, but it is far from gratuitous.Another woman also takes centre stage in the Book of Proverbs: Wisdom. And unlike the adulteress, she offers life instead of death.Written and produced by Chas BayfieldMusic by Michael Auld and Jon Hawkins MusicCover Art by Lisa Goff

We have a complicated, often dysfunctional relationship with our work. We can bow down to the idols of achievement and career, letting work consume our lives. Or, we can view work as something to be avoided if possible. But, the Proverbs give us a refreshingly honest and redemptive understanding of work. In this episode, Pastor Chris Kipp continues our series on Proverbs with the message "Wisdom For Your Work". Chris points us to the Biblical wisdom of working hard and working smart, and working with both diligence and excellence, while avoiding burnout and laziness. Finally, Chris lands with the grace of God that works in us in our work. Renaissance Church - Richmond, Texas https://ren-church.org #alloflifealltheearth #walkgrowlive #proverbs #bible #wisdom #work

We could all use some more widom, couldn't we? In this episode, Pastor Chris Kipp begins a new series on Proverbs and teaches a message entitled "Wisdom & The War Against Temptation". Temptation is common to all people and each one of us will face it repeatedly in our lives. Temptation seeks to entice not just into a one-time failure, but to a whole path of destruction. Wisdom, however, is God's gift to reveal to us the path of life. Wisdom is God's gift to us to help us win the war against Temptation. We've made it to the crown jewel of women's Bible studies across America — Proverbs 31. Where do we begin with such a famous passage? Well first we need to read Proverbs 31 in the context of Proverbs 1-30, as the embodiment of wisdom in the form of an idealized wife. Proverbs 1 begins with a father instructing his son to seek after wisdom with all his might. Proverbs 31 ends with another father, King Lemuel, telling his son to seek after a wise wife with the same vigor. The choice of a spouse is the most critical earthly decision any human being makes. A wise man who embodies wisdom will find a wise wife and vice versa. Yet these words from King Lemuel come as inherited wisdom from his own mother. He's giving his son grand's wisdom, which we know, is always right. So we conclude our study in Proverbs by looking at how wisdom calls out the best in both men and women so that we might fulfill our royal calling as kings and queens tasked with exercising dominion over the earth. We live in a conflict-saturated world. Nations are at war. Crime decimates our cities. The evening news features the ugly battle for the next election. While many lean into conflict, others seem to avoid most of it. How do they do that? When ancient Hebrews prepared their sons for leadership positions, they had them study the book of Proverbs to teach them how to work with people skillfully. In this study, we will learn what Proverbs teaches us about how to avoid conflict and successfully work with those different from us.
Our continuation through Proverbs
Outside of sleeping, we spend most of our lives working. Work gives us an identity and a purpose. God created us to work, but one of the ways sin influences our lives is by inducing us to be lazy instead of productive. Join us as we look at how laziness shows up in our lives and the payoff for diligence.
