1 My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you, 2 so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; 3 yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding; 4 if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God.* 6 For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. 7 He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, 8 that he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints. 9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path. 10 For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. 11 Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you, 12 to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things, 13 who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness, 14 who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil, 15 who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths, 16 to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words, 17 who forsakes the friend of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God; 18 for her house leads down to death, her paths to the departed spirits. 19 None who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life. 20 Therefore walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. 21 For the upright will dwell in the land. The perfect will remain in it. 22 But the wicked will be cut off from the land. The treacherous will be rooted out of it. Listen Donate Subscribe: Proverbs Daily Podcast Psalms Daily Podcast

Numbers 5 tells of regulations for dealing with diseased and ceremonially unclean people. It also tells of the rules for these “unclean” people to re-enter the Holy Camp, where the LORD dwelt. The chapter finishes with a test for when a jealous husband suspects his wife has committed adultery. The underlying reason for the offerings that accompanied the restoration of the “unclean” person and the wife who was now clear from the suspicion of her jealous husband was that faithfulness was not accidental, but was an essential part of being the Yahweh's covenant people. It placed upon the Israelites the responsibility of holiness. Hence for the restoration of the ceremonially unclean and the vindicated wife the offering associated with restored fellowship was the guilt offering. Whilst outside the camp the ceremonially guilty parties had not been able to give their reasonable service. For the wife of the jealous husband the acquittal from guilt, or the proving of guilt, was a process that was divinely made. Hence the use of dust from the Tabernacle's floor.

Proverbs 2 is an “if, then” chapter. The Lord calls us to pursue wisdom, and if we do he promises to give it. With wisdom comes many life-protecting and life-giving benefits, the chief being the knowledge of God himself. This proverb is meant to entice us to pursue wisdom, and it provides the necessary steps for receiving it. Let's turn our eyes to Christ who is wise and tune our ears to his word in faith. Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God's grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.

Associate Pastor Kenny Dyches continues our brief Winter Wisdom series, preaching on the contrast between worldly wisdom and godly wisdom, using a compelling story about a man who built a successful business but struggled with spiritual emptiness. The man's journey, shaped by a vivid dream and an encounter with a preacher resembling Jesus, highlighted the challenge of surrendering earthly pursuits for true fulfillment in God. Drawing from Proverbs, Pastor Kenny emphasizes that wisdom is not just intellectual knowledge but a lived experience of God, requiring a heart posture of surrender and obedience. He outlines practical steps for obtaining wisdom: receiving, treasuring, inclining one's ear, calling out, and seeking diligently. He stresses that wisdom is cultivated not in isolation but through relationships, community, and submission to God. Using relatable examples and personal anecdotes, Pastor Kenny encouraged the congregation to pursue godly wisdom, trust in God's guidance, and live out their faith in all aspects of life.

Pharoah finally releases Israel from Egypt, but not before the Lord devastates the people of Egypt with a final plague that kills the firstborn of every family. The lord distinguishes between Israel and Egypt once again by giving them a new to be passed down from generation to generation as a testament to the power of God. By covering their doorways with the blood of a prescribed sacrifice, the people of Israel indicate that they are covered by the blood of another and the Lord passes over them. Throughout the history of Israel through both prose and poetry, God's people remind each other of the Lord's power and deliverance by observing the Passover. Later, Christ becomes the ultimate fulfillment, for he is both the sacrificial lamb that covers us and the firstborn who dies for the sins of the rebellious.Exodus 11 – 1:11 . Exodus 12 – 3:07 . Exodus 13 – 12:18 . Exodus 14 – 16:37 . Exodus 15 – 22:51 . Proverbs 2 – 27:57 .  :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by Bobby Brown, Katelyn Pridgen, Eric Williamson & the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

This revised and extended English edition of Bernd U. Schipper's 2012 German study of Proverbs incorporates the results of his continued research and writings on Proverbs. For nearly a century, many biblical scholars have argued that the main theological traditions, such as the divine law, God's torah, do not appear in the book of Proverbs. In The Hermeneutics of Torah: Proverbs 2, Deuteronomy, and the Composition of Proverbs 1–9 (SBL Press, 2021), however, Schipper demonstrates that Proverbs interacts in a sophisticated way with the concept of the torah. A detailed analysis of Proverbs 2 and other passages from the first part of the book of Proverbs shows that Proverbs engages in a postexilic discourse around "wisdom and torah" concerning the abilities of humans to fulfill the will of YHWH exemplified in the divine torah.
