Have you ever met anyone that's had a near death experience? During this week's episode, Fr. Joseph told me (Matt) about the experience one of the Diocese's own pastors. He died, experienced purgatory and judgement, but was given a second chance by Our Lord. This week, we discussed the Four Last Things; Death, Judgement, Hell, (Purgatory) and Heaven. We discussed not only near death experiences, but what Scripture, Tradition and the Mystics tell us of these experiences and places. St. Faustina's description of Hell is… terrifying. Truly “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). Simultaneously, as we seek to understand Heaven, it's… exciting! Perhaps, most importantly, we discuss the proper way to hope in Our Lord's mercy. "If you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God." Proverbs 2:4
Everyone loves the idea of wisdom, but few of us pour energy into seeking wisdom because, if we are honest with ourselves, we see ourselves as relatively wise. But wisdom is not found in comparing ourselves with others. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. From there, we realize how much we need to grow.

Thanks for tuning into the United Voice of Zion Kingdom Living Podcast. Today we introduce Solomon, Son of King David. Join us to see the Wise Words of Solomon that we can grasp and apply to our daily lives.
Proverbs 12:15-23 centers on the pursuit of wisdom, drawing clear distinctions between the attitudes and behaviors of the wise and the foolish. These verses highlight that true wisdom is marked by humility, patience, and careful speech, while folly is characterized by arrogance, impulsiveness, and deceit. The wise person listens to counsel, controls their temper, and speaks truthfully, bringing peace and healing. In contrast, the fool quickly shows frustration and often spreads harm through careless or dishonest words. This passage challenges us to actively pursue wisdom in our thoughts, actions, and conversations, allowing God's truth to shape our responses and reflect His character.
Why do fools despise wisdom? What is the meaning of Proverbs 1:7? Why would anyone despise wisdom?
Walking in the way of wisdom is a life-long endeavor. There are many ways we can stray from the path, some are by decision, and some are by distraction or neglect. Proverbs 4 gives us clear exhortations to walk in wisdom's way into light and life. As a congregation, let's help each be wise. Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God's grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.

Beyond the Sunday Sermon | Choose Wisdom | Proverbs 1: 1-19 | With Jerry Ornelas and Craig Luekens
The wisdom of Proverbs comes with many blessings. How gracious God is to guide us in his ways. We must remember that there is a posture of mind and heart that is necessary for obtaining wisdom. This is the fear of the Lord. To fear the Lord is to be aware of his character and ways, to respect and worship him, and to humbly listen to him and submit to his word. The fear of the Lord is the relational context in which receive the grace of wisdom and understanding.

Mark 2:1-12 The text is a story of four friends who went the extra mile to get their friend to Jesus. His situation was hopeless. There was no medicine, treatment, or cure. He needed something supernatural. Note: The four didn't try to ‘fix' their friend but took him to Jesus, someone who could ‘fix' him. The Bible doesn't name these four, but they loved their friend enough to get him to Jesus. It is amazing what can happen when we don't care who gets the credit! How long has it been since you have done something radical to reveal Jesus? What ‘roof' needs to be torn off your life so someone can see Jesus? Mark 2:5 ‘Jesus saw their faith'-faith that made them do something radical. The paralyzed man was brought for forgiveness but for healing. Jesus wants to address the sins of our lives before the needs of our physical life. When we do radical things to get our friends to Jesus, things can get messy! Why Does God Give Breakthroughs? For His glory (Revelation 4:11, Isaiah 43:7). To manifest His works (John 9:3). For His name's sake—we belong to His kingdom. 5 things about Wisdom in the Bible: 1. Earthly Wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:5-6) – Focused on human reasoning, limited. 2. Demonic Wisdom – Deceptive and self-serving. 3. Godly Wisdom (James 3:17) – Pure, peaceable, and full of mercy. 4. Jesus as Wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:24) – The embodiment of divine wisdom. 5. Wisdom as a Spirit (Isaiah 11:2, Deuteronomy 34:9) – Can be imparted for divine insight and leadership. How Does Breakthrough Come? Through Wisdom (Proverbs 24:3-4). By Seeking God's Wisdom (Proverbs 2:6, James 1:5). By Overcoming Worldly Wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:5-6). By Walking in Godly Wisdom (James 3:17). Conclusion Breakthrough comes through faith, obedience, and seeking divine wisdom. Recognizing the enemy's tactics (fear, lies, intimidation) is crucial to overcoming struggles. Biblical examples affirm that God desires to bring supernatural intervention to His people. By walking in wisdom and trusting in God, we can experience the victory He has planned for us. +++++++ You can find our service times on our website: https://www.anctally.com/ You can find sermon highlights on Twitter here: https://x.com/allnationstally
Associate Pastor Kenny Dyches continues our brief Winter Wisdom series, preaching on the contrast between worldly wisdom and godly wisdom, using a compelling story about a man who built a successful business but struggled with spiritual emptiness. The man's journey, shaped by a vivid dream and an encounter with a preacher resembling Jesus, highlighted the challenge of surrendering earthly pursuits for true fulfillment in God. Drawing from Proverbs, Pastor Kenny emphasizes that wisdom is not just intellectual knowledge but a lived experience of God, requiring a heart posture of surrender and obedience. He outlines practical steps for obtaining wisdom: receiving, treasuring, inclining one's ear, calling out, and seeking diligently. He stresses that wisdom is cultivated not in isolation but through relationships, community, and submission to God. Using relatable examples and personal anecdotes, Pastor Kenny encouraged the congregation to pursue godly wisdom, trust in God's guidance, and live out their faith in all aspects of life.
Senior Pastor Damein Schitter begins a new mini-series, Winter Wisdom, preaching from Proverbs 3:5-8. He explores what it means to be truly wise, emphasizing that wisdom is not just about intelligence or self-sufficiency but about trusting in the Lord wholeheartedly. Pastor Damein argues that in a world obsessed with knowledge for self-reliance, biblical wisdom calls for deep dependence on God. He contrasts wisdom with folly, illustrating how self-sufficiency, as exemplified in biblical figures like Jacob, leads to struggles, while true wisdom involves trusting God with all aspects of life.Pastor Damein also emphasizes that wisdom is both a journey and a skill developed over time, much like becoming proficient in chess or cooking. It involves not just knowing the right things but living in relationship with God and aligning one's life with His guidance. The ultimate wise one, Jesus Christ, embodies wisdom, and trusting in Him leads to true flourishing. He closes with a call for believers to wholeheartedly trust in God's wisdom rather than leaning on their own understanding, urging mature Christians to be pacesetters in demonstrating God's faithfulness.
The Heart of Wisdom (Proverbs 3:1-10) (TRUST) The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. But what is its heart and core? The heart and core of wisdom is trust not in your own name, in your own ways, in your own wealth, in your own thinking or understanding. No, the heart of wisdom is not those things. The heartbeat of wisdom is trusting in the Lord. In this sermon, we'll explore the reasons why so many other things and people are unworthy of our trust. At the same time, we'll see why and how God is truly worthy of all our trust.

Sermon from Aaron Anderson on January 26, 2025
A useful device in case-law literature is sometimes called “citing the minimal case”. The idea is to demonstrate the application of the law in a situation of minor significance. By implication then the reader understands that this law would surely apply in principle to any situation of greater importance. The purpose of this device is to efficiently delineate the scope of a law without exhaustively listing every potential instance of application. A classic example would be Paul's exposition of the ox & his “wages” (I Tim 5:27-28). His point here: If the farmer is morally obligated to feed his working livestock then those who labor in the ministry are certainly worthy of the church's support. In the context of ‘wisdom literature' a similar device is featured in our text. In calling the student of wisdom to integrity and righteousness in the context of romantic relationships and sexual temptation, Solomon is citing “the most difficult case” to illustrate the sufficiency of wisdom. Our passage is a proclamation that godly instruction is effective to guide and guard what might otherwise be the most obstinate student facing the greatest of temptations. Sexual temptations are a significant test of wisdom. In the warnings against adultery in chapters 5 through 7 we consider situations where wisdom is often disregarded and consequences of doing so are most devastating
In this week's sermon, we draw a contrast between Proverbs chapters 2 and 3. While chapter 2 issues a warning to avoid the path of the wicked, chapter 3 takes a positive approach, teaching how to live a life of shalom—marked by peace, success, and refreshment. Solomon's fatherly counsel begins with the words "my son" and links wisdom with tangible blessings, urging us to guard our hearts against cultural ideologies, such as the popular mantra "live your truth," which opposes the biblical foundation of truth found in Jesus Christ. Solomon emphasizes the need to reject worldly loves and instead pursue the steadfast love and faithfulness of God. This provides lasting contentment within us and visible expressions of God's character through us. True Shalom arises from aligning one's life with God's wisdom rather than worldly voices or self-reliance. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds believers to trust fully in the Lord and avoid leaning on personal understanding. Trusting in God is described with imagery of throwing oneself entirely into His care. This is foundational to living a life that flourishes under His guidance. The wise man challenges his listeners to examine their worldview, urging them to live out biblical truths boldly and to take risks for God, demonstrating faith in action that defies worldly logic. Such trust, coupled with reverence and acknowledgment ofGod, leads to a life of spiritual freedom and fulfillment. Finally, our text highlights the consequences of ignoring God's wisdom. King David comes to mind. His sins caused physical and emotional torment until he confessed and received God's forgiveness. Proverbs 3:7-8 and Psalm 32 illustrate the transformative power of humility and dependence on God, which bring healing and refreshment. We are left with a simple yet profound application: fear God, turn from evil and embrace His design for your life. This response to God's wisdom leads to a life of eternal significance and the peace believers truly desire.
