We're diving into Matthew chapter 10 today, drawing wisdom from Jesus, Solomon (from Proverbs), and David (from the Psalms) to understand the fear of the Lord. We'll see how this powerful concept can actually free us from all our other fears.Key Points:Jesus' Bizarre Halftime Speech (Matthew 10):Jesus sends out His disciples with a message of the Kingdom, healing, and deliverance. But then the message takes a dark turn: "I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves."He warns of persecution, betrayal, and hatred, yet astonishingly commands, "Do not fear those who kill the body... Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell."This isn't a typical pep talk, but a profound invitation to a greater fear that delivers from lesser ones. The Fear of the Lord: The Beginning of Wisdom:Proverbs 1:7 famously states, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."This "fear" isn't a cowering dread but a reverent awe that leads to friendship with God (Psalm 25:14) and is described as "clean" and "enduring forever" (Psalm 19:9).It's a treasure that brings stability, strength, and life (Isaiah 33:6, Proverbs 10:27, 14:27).Fear's Grip: Lessons from David (1 Samuel 21 & Psalm 34):Even heroes like King David succumbed to fear, running, hiding, lying, pretending madness, and forgetting God's faithfulness.Fear often leads us to strongholds – places we seek for safety that become captivity. It makes us huddle with those just like us.Psalm 34 is David's testimony and sermon after God delivered him from his fears.Fear is a faith revealer: It exposes what we boast in, what we magnify. To be free, we must boast in and magnify God (Psalm 34:1-3).A Greater Fear Delivers from Lesser Fears:Just as the fear of rejection might make you jump off a bridge, or the fear of losing a child makes you brave the ocean, a greater fear can trump lesser fears. The fear of the Lord is not a fear of Him, but a fear of going without Him—a reverent submission that keeps us in step with Him.This fear leads to refuge in God (Psalm 31:19-20), obedience, and faithfulness. It frees us from the compromise that worldly fears demand. Conclusion:The idea that "the only thing to fear is fear itself" is a lie. The one thing we should fear is the Lord. And in this divine exchange, when we fear Him most, He delivers us from all other lesser fears, leading us to abundant life and wisdom.Call to Action:As we come to the table, let's ask God to expose the fears that reveal what we've put our faith in. Let's boast in Christ's sacrifice, knowing He's made a way for us to live free from fear's influence. Receive His broken body, and ask for a healthy fear of the Lord – one that is pure, clean, endures forever, and leads to fullness of life. Come to the table, and if you need prayer, a team is ready to minister to you. Support the show*Summaries and transcripts are generated using AI. Please notify us if you find any errors.
God is the source of all wisdom and knowledge, so we must approach Him with reverence if we want to live wisely.
At the beginning, when two paths diverge, the distance between them isn't that great. But the longer you travel the more they separate and the distance between they grows and grows until they end in completely different places. The Book of Proverbs describes the two paths as the path of Wisdom and the dark path. Find out why is this episode of Gospel Wabi Sabi.
DOWNLOAD KEYNOTE SLIDES Sermon Summary: "Live in the House of Wisdom" by Dr. Bryan Hudson Pastor Bryan Hudson delivers a powerful and practical message rooted in the wisdom literature of Scripture, particularly the book of Proverbs. The central theme of the sermon is an invitation not merely to admire or visit wisdom, but to live in the house of wisdom—to make it our dwelling place and guiding principle. Purpose of Proverbs (Proverbs 1:1–3) Proverbs is given to teach wisdom and discipline, to understand wise insights, and to help people do what is right, just, and fair. Discipline is emphasized—it's not what others do for you, but what you choose for yourself. Discipline leads to order, consistency, and purposeful living. The Structure of Wisdom (Proverbs 24:3–4) Wisdom builds the house Understanding establishes it Knowledge furnishes it with pleasant and precious things This creates a metaphorical structure: Wisdom = the house, Understanding = the foundation, Knowledge = the furniture. This priority counters worldly assumptions—knowledge is not enough; it must be applied through wisdom and guided by understanding. Illustration of Wisdom with Cooking Knowledge is like having the recipe and ingredients. Understanding is knowing how to use them. Wisdom is putting it all together effectively and appropriately. Path Principle and Decision-Making Proverbs teaches to ponder the path of your feet (Proverbs 4:26). Life is about the paths we walk, not merely our intentions. Just as walking on a moving walkway takes you in a fixed direction, so do life choices—you arrive where the path leads, regardless of your good intentions. Living in God's Wisdom vs. Worldly Lack There is both abundance and lack in the world—not only materially but spiritually. There's a famine of hearing the Word of the Lord (Amos 8:11), despite abundance all around. True abundance is not material wealth, but spiritual richness, rooted in wisdom and relationship with God. Warnings and Encouragement Covetousness is a danger—desiring something just because someone else has it. Jesus was not poor, but He lived simply. True wealth is in wisdom and purpose, not possessions. Don't lower yourself or dilute your wisdom to fit in—let others rise to the level of truth and light. Mind of Christ God's ways and thoughts are higher (Isaiah 55:8–9), but they are not unattainable—we must rise to them. Believers have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), giving access to divine wisdom. Final Call: Choose Wisdom Daily God's wisdom is a path, not just an idea. Living wisely leads to stability, fulfillment, and God-directed success. Don't just visit the house of wisdom—live there. Closing Prayer Dr. Hudson ends with a prayer of thanksgiving, asking God to help believers live in the house of wisdom and guide others into the same. Summary Phrase: "Let's not just visit the house of wisdom—let's live in it." This message is both instructional and deeply spiritual, calling believers to a lifestyle rooted in God's wisdom, discernment, and understanding.

Wisdom is a Person, and His name is Jesus.
"Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her beasts; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. She has sent out her young women to call from the highest places in the town, 'Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!' To him who lacks sense she says, 'Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight.'” Proverbs 9:1–6
Have you ever met anyone that's had a near death experience? During this week's episode, Fr. Joseph told me (Matt) about the experience one of the Diocese's own pastors. He died, experienced purgatory and judgement, but was given a second chance by Our Lord. This week, we discussed the Four Last Things; Death, Judgement, Hell, (Purgatory) and Heaven. We discussed not only near death experiences, but what Scripture, Tradition and the Mystics tell us of these experiences and places. St. Faustina's description of Hell is… terrifying. Truly “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). Simultaneously, as we seek to understand Heaven, it's… exciting! Perhaps, most importantly, we discuss the proper way to hope in Our Lord's mercy. "If you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God." Proverbs 2:4
Everyone loves the idea of wisdom, but few of us pour energy into seeking wisdom because, if we are honest with ourselves, we see ourselves as relatively wise. But wisdom is not found in comparing ourselves with others. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. From there, we realize how much we need to grow.

Thanks for tuning into the United Voice of Zion Kingdom Living Podcast. Today we introduce Solomon, Son of King David. Join us to see the Wise Words of Solomon that we can grasp and apply to our daily lives.
Proverbs 12:15-23 centers on the pursuit of wisdom, drawing clear distinctions between the attitudes and behaviors of the wise and the foolish. These verses highlight that true wisdom is marked by humility, patience, and careful speech, while folly is characterized by arrogance, impulsiveness, and deceit. The wise person listens to counsel, controls their temper, and speaks truthfully, bringing peace and healing. In contrast, the fool quickly shows frustration and often spreads harm through careless or dishonest words. This passage challenges us to actively pursue wisdom in our thoughts, actions, and conversations, allowing God's truth to shape our responses and reflect His character.
Why do fools despise wisdom? What is the meaning of Proverbs 1:7? Why would anyone despise wisdom?
Walking in the way of wisdom is a life-long endeavor. There are many ways we can stray from the path, some are by decision, and some are by distraction or neglect. Proverbs 4 gives us clear exhortations to walk in wisdom's way into light and life. As a congregation, let's help each be wise. Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God's grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.

Beyond the Sunday Sermon | Choose Wisdom | Proverbs 1: 1-19 | With Jerry Ornelas and Craig Luekens
The wisdom of Proverbs comes with many blessings. How gracious God is to guide us in his ways. We must remember that there is a posture of mind and heart that is necessary for obtaining wisdom. This is the fear of the Lord. To fear the Lord is to be aware of his character and ways, to respect and worship him, and to humbly listen to him and submit to his word. The fear of the Lord is the relational context in which receive the grace of wisdom and understanding.

Mark 2:1-12 The text is a story of four friends who went the extra mile to get their friend to Jesus. His situation was hopeless. There was no medicine, treatment, or cure. He needed something supernatural. Note: The four didn't try to ‘fix' their friend but took him to Jesus, someone who could ‘fix' him. The Bible doesn't name these four, but they loved their friend enough to get him to Jesus. It is amazing what can happen when we don't care who gets the credit! How long has it been since you have done something radical to reveal Jesus? What ‘roof' needs to be torn off your life so someone can see Jesus? Mark 2:5 ‘Jesus saw their faith'-faith that made them do something radical. The paralyzed man was brought for forgiveness but for healing. Jesus wants to address the sins of our lives before the needs of our physical life. When we do radical things to get our friends to Jesus, things can get messy! Why Does God Give Breakthroughs? For His glory (Revelation 4:11, Isaiah 43:7). To manifest His works (John 9:3). For His name's sake—we belong to His kingdom. 5 things about Wisdom in the Bible: 1. Earthly Wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:5-6) – Focused on human reasoning, limited. 2. Demonic Wisdom – Deceptive and self-serving. 3. Godly Wisdom (James 3:17) – Pure, peaceable, and full of mercy. 4. Jesus as Wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:24) – The embodiment of divine wisdom. 5. Wisdom as a Spirit (Isaiah 11:2, Deuteronomy 34:9) – Can be imparted for divine insight and leadership. How Does Breakthrough Come? Through Wisdom (Proverbs 24:3-4). By Seeking God's Wisdom (Proverbs 2:6, James 1:5). By Overcoming Worldly Wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:5-6). By Walking in Godly Wisdom (James 3:17). Conclusion Breakthrough comes through faith, obedience, and seeking divine wisdom. Recognizing the enemy's tactics (fear, lies, intimidation) is crucial to overcoming struggles. Biblical examples affirm that God desires to bring supernatural intervention to His people. By walking in wisdom and trusting in God, we can experience the victory He has planned for us. +++++++ You can find our service times on our website: https://www.anctally.com/ You can find sermon highlights on Twitter here: https://x.com/allnationstally
Associate Pastor Kenny Dyches continues our brief Winter Wisdom series, preaching on the contrast between worldly wisdom and godly wisdom, using a compelling story about a man who built a successful business but struggled with spiritual emptiness. The man's journey, shaped by a vivid dream and an encounter with a preacher resembling Jesus, highlighted the challenge of surrendering earthly pursuits for true fulfillment in God. Drawing from Proverbs, Pastor Kenny emphasizes that wisdom is not just intellectual knowledge but a lived experience of God, requiring a heart posture of surrender and obedience. He outlines practical steps for obtaining wisdom: receiving, treasuring, inclining one's ear, calling out, and seeking diligently. He stresses that wisdom is cultivated not in isolation but through relationships, community, and submission to God. Using relatable examples and personal anecdotes, Pastor Kenny encouraged the congregation to pursue godly wisdom, trust in God's guidance, and live out their faith in all aspects of life.
Senior Pastor Damein Schitter begins a new mini-series, Winter Wisdom, preaching from Proverbs 3:5-8. He explores what it means to be truly wise, emphasizing that wisdom is not just about intelligence or self-sufficiency but about trusting in the Lord wholeheartedly. Pastor Damein argues that in a world obsessed with knowledge for self-reliance, biblical wisdom calls for deep dependence on God. He contrasts wisdom with folly, illustrating how self-sufficiency, as exemplified in biblical figures like Jacob, leads to struggles, while true wisdom involves trusting God with all aspects of life.Pastor Damein also emphasizes that wisdom is both a journey and a skill developed over time, much like becoming proficient in chess or cooking. It involves not just knowing the right things but living in relationship with God and aligning one's life with His guidance. The ultimate wise one, Jesus Christ, embodies wisdom, and trusting in Him leads to true flourishing. He closes with a call for believers to wholeheartedly trust in God's wisdom rather than leaning on their own understanding, urging mature Christians to be pacesetters in demonstrating God's faithfulness.
