00:01 – Correction as Wisdom Proverbs 12:1: Why correction feels like attack but leads to growth—spiritually, relationally, financially. 02:10 – Correction = Love & Belonging Hebrews 12:5–6; Proverbs 3:11–12; Revelation 3:19: Discipline shows love; reproof affirms sonship. 05:05 – Punishment vs Discipline Punishment looks back; discipline looks forward. John 15:2: Pruning reveals potential. 07:12 – Resistance to Reproof Pride, pain, and threat response. Hebrews 12:11: “Later” fruit comes from being “trained.” 08:28 – R-E-S-T Framework 11:30 – Biblical Models of Correction David/Nathan (2 Sam 12), Apollos (Acts 18), Peter/Paul (Gal 2): All rooted in love and truth. 12:55 – Signs of Maturity Invite feedback, thank correctors, self-correct. “Immaturity hears condemnation; maturity hears calibration.” 13:54 – Nightly Rhythm Confess, Consider, Commit, Cover. Anchored in Proverbs 9:9. 15:36 – Discernment: 5 Tests 22:35 – Quick Filter Is it Word-aligned, freeing, Christlike, from loving voices, Spirit-confirmed? 23:43 – Growth Posture: 6 Practices 24:14 Humility (Prov 11:2) 26:13 Identity ≠ performance (Isa 6; Prov 12:1) 29:34 Learner's ear + 24hr pause (James 1:19) 30:18 Build correcting circle (Prov 27:6) 32:29 Thank God + apply fast (Prov 3:11–12; James 1:22) 34:25 – Cost of Ignoring Correction 39:30 – Weekly Challenge Name one resisted area, ask for grace, act fast (Prov 15:32). 40:28 – Next Episode Teaser Diligence vs haste (Prov 21:5): Planning as wisdom. 42:12 – Share It Forward Subscribe, share, and help others avoid unnecessary frustration. — — — — — — — — — — Highlights From The Episode Correction is covenant love, not cancellation. God's discipline is proof you belong to Him. Pruning is for fruitful branches. If you're being trimmed, it's because there's more in you. R-E-S-T reframes reproof. A short, repeatable response prevents defensiveness from driving the moment. Calibration over condemnation. Mature hearts convert hard feedback into precise adjustments. Discernment matters. Use fruit, tone, Scripture, proximity and the Spirit's witness to sift truth from manipulation. Delay dulls the edge. Quick obedience compounds; wisdom grows where humility lives. Ignoring correction is costly—spiritually, financially, relationally and generationally. — — — — — — — — — — Practical Steps You Can Take Adopt the R-E-S-T response the next time feedback lands. Use: “Thanks for sharing—give me a moment to hear you properly.” Mine for the 5–10% truth even if delivery was clumsy; write that truth down and plan one next step. Run it through the 5 tests (fruit, tone, Scripture, proximity, Spirit). Keep Galatians 6:1 and James 3:17 nearby. Create gentle accountability: text one safe person your one change for tomorrow and ask them to check in at night. Nightly rhythm (3–5 minutes): Confess, Consider, Commit, Cover (message a safe person). Identity reset: When corrected, say aloud, “My worth is secure in Christ; this is calibration, not condemnation.” 24-hour pause rule: No defending or decisions for a day after tough feedback—pray, search Scripture, then act. Act fast, act small: One micro-obedience within 24 hours (apology, budget tweak, calendar block, restitution). Invite feedback on purpose: Ask two trusted people, “What's one blind spot you see in me this month?” Connect with RTB For podcast updates, exclusive daily devotional emails and more, join the RTB community! This message will speak directly to the array of things that are challenging many of us. If these words were powerful and effective for the original audience (who were not experiencing the indwelling of the Holy Spirit), how much more powerful for us who have Him amplfying from inside?
God designed us for community, and the relationships we cultivate have a profound impact on our character and faith. Proverbs reminds us that true friendship is more than just companionship - it's about sharpening one another, walking through life's highs and lows together, and ultimately reflecting God's love. We'll look at what it means to be a faithful friend, how to build lasting relationships, and why friendships rooted in Christ are life-giving. The greatest example of true friendship comes from Jesus Himself. In John 15:13, He tells us, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." Jesus didn't just teach about friendship; He demonstrated it through His sacrificial love. We'll explore what it means to love, challenge, and support one another in ways that honor God. We'll also talk about how we can overcome the challenges of friendship - betrayal, conflict, and forgiveness. Biblical wisdom helps us navigate the roadblocks. I encourage you to come ready to reflect on your own friendships. Do you have people in your life who sharpen you in your faith? Are you the kind of friend who encourages and strengthens others? Let's be intentional about building the kind of friendships that bring us closer to Christ. I look forward to learning with you this Sunday as we grow together in God's wisdom!

Today's message, Bold Wisdom, was a powerful tag-team sermon from four pastors, each bringing a unique lens on what it means to live wisely with boldness. Pastor Rodney introduced the theme by showing how bold wisdom builds, protects, and honors God, rooted in the fear of the Lord. Pastor Christian reminded us that wisdom seeks godly counsel and acts in faith, even with little, as shown through the obedient widow who trusted God with what she had. Pastor Heady emphasized that bold wisdom requires discernment—courageously evaluating what is true and right in a world full of deception. Finally, Pastor Samson closed by anchoring bold wisdom in a holy reverence for God, declaring that the fear of the Lord is both our confidence and our refuge. We're diving into Matthew chapter 10 today, drawing wisdom from Jesus, Solomon (from Proverbs), and David (from the Psalms) to understand the fear of the Lord. We'll see how this powerful concept can actually free us from all our other fears.Key Points:Jesus' Bizarre Halftime Speech (Matthew 10):Jesus sends out His disciples with a message of the Kingdom, healing, and deliverance. But then the message takes a dark turn: "I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves."He warns of persecution, betrayal, and hatred, yet astonishingly commands, "Do not fear those who kill the body... Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell."This isn't a typical pep talk, but a profound invitation to a greater fear that delivers from lesser ones. The Fear of the Lord: The Beginning of Wisdom:Proverbs 1:7 famously states, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."This "fear" isn't a cowering dread but a reverent awe that leads to friendship with God (Psalm 25:14) and is described as "clean" and "enduring forever" (Psalm 19:9).It's a treasure that brings stability, strength, and life (Isaiah 33:6, Proverbs 10:27, 14:27).Fear's Grip: Lessons from David (1 Samuel 21 & Psalm 34):Even heroes like King David succumbed to fear, running, hiding, lying, pretending madness, and forgetting God's faithfulness.Fear often leads us to strongholds – places we seek for safety that become captivity. It makes us huddle with those just like us.Psalm 34 is David's testimony and sermon after God delivered him from his fears.Fear is a faith revealer: It exposes what we boast in, what we magnify. To be free, we must boast in and magnify God (Psalm 34:1-3).A Greater Fear Delivers from Lesser Fears:Just as the fear of rejection might make you jump off a bridge, or the fear of losing a child makes you brave the ocean, a greater fear can trump lesser fears. The fear of the Lord is not a fear of Him, but a fear of going without Him—a reverent submission that keeps us in step with Him.This fear leads to refuge in God (Psalm 31:19-20), obedience, and faithfulness. It frees us from the compromise that worldly fears demand. Conclusion:The idea that "the only thing to fear is fear itself" is a lie. The one thing we should fear is the Lord. And in this divine exchange, when we fear Him most, He delivers us from all other lesser fears, leading us to abundant life and wisdom.Call to Action:As we come to the table, let's ask God to expose the fears that reveal what we've put our faith in. Let's boast in Christ's sacrifice, knowing He's made a way for us to live free from fear's influence. Receive His broken body, and ask for a healthy fear of the Lord – one that is pure, clean, endures forever, and leads to fullness of life. Come to the table, and if you need prayer, a team is ready to minister to you. Support the show*Summaries and transcripts are generated using AI. Please notify us if you find any errors.
God is the source of all wisdom and knowledge, so we must approach Him with reverence if we want to live wisely.
At the beginning, when two paths diverge, the distance between them isn't that great. But the longer you travel the more they separate and the distance between they grows and grows until they end in completely different places. The Book of Proverbs describes the two paths as the path of Wisdom and the dark path. Find out why is this episode of Gospel Wabi Sabi.

This Week at Our Perdido Key Campus Senior Pastor Kyle Valaer is pausing our series in Luke to begin a new sermon series titled “Proverbs: The Way of Wisdom.” This series will explore selected passages from the book of Proverbs, offering practical insights for daily living through God's wisdom. We hope this resource is a blessing to you. For more information about the Point Church, please visit us online at www.tothepoint.church.Take Aways: There is a right and good way to live.God wants you to experience the blessings of living that right and good life.Wisdom is knowing, treasuring, and living by God's standards. If you would be wise, grow in your fear of God.If you would be wise, seek wisdom.4 Ways to Seek Wisdom:We seek wisdom through prayer. We seek wisdom in God's Word.We seek wisdom by learning from those around us.We seek wisdom by obeying God. 7. Wisdom is a Person, and His name is Jesus.
"Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her beasts; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. She has sent out her young women to call from the highest places in the town, 'Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!' To him who lacks sense she says, 'Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight.'” Proverbs 9:1–6
Have you ever met anyone that's had a near death experience? During this week's episode, Fr. Joseph told me (Matt) about the experience one of the Diocese's own pastors. He died, experienced purgatory and judgement, but was given a second chance by Our Lord. This week, we discussed the Four Last Things; Death, Judgement, Hell, (Purgatory) and Heaven. We discussed not only near death experiences, but what Scripture, Tradition and the Mystics tell us of these experiences and places. St. Faustina's description of Hell is… terrifying. Truly “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). Simultaneously, as we seek to understand Heaven, it's… exciting! Perhaps, most importantly, we discuss the proper way to hope in Our Lord's mercy.
