In our last episode, King Saul's jealousy and hatred for David began to grow as David successfully conquered the Philistines in battle time after time. Saul began plotting David's demise, but his plans to see him killed were all foiled. Today, Saul's rage becomes clear to everyone. Saul instructs his son Jonathan and all of his men to kill David. Jonathan and David are close companions, however, and Jonathan helps David escape from the king. As he runs away unarmed and unprepared, he visits Ahimelech at Nob and loads up on supplies including the consecrated bread of the presence and the sword of Goliath, which had been kept there until that time. 1 Samuel 19 - 1:02 .  1 Samuel 20 - 5:54 .  1 Samuel 21 - 14:58 .  Psalm 89 - 18:23 .  :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by the Christian Standard Bible.facebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

Behind proclamations of the Gospel, behind the rigorous apologetic defenses for the Christian faith, behind many of God's chosen servants, and behind those who fiercely opposes Christianity, are many who, despite all outward appearances to the contrary, are struggling with various degrees of depression, anxiety, OCD, and despair. On this special one-part episode with professor of literature at Oklahoma Baptist University and author Dr. Alan Noble, we discuss navigating through seasons of depression and despair. Alan shares with us wisdom, practical experience, and candid honest reflections about wrestling with difficult mental health struggles as a professor, father, husband, and Christian. We talk about his short but very candid and encouraging little book On Getting Out of Bed - The Burden & Gift of Living. One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on the Daily Radio Bible, a daily Bible‑in‑a‑year podcast with 20‑minute Scripture readings, Christ‑centered devotion, and guided prayer. This daily Bible reading and devotional invites you to live as a citizen of Jesus' kingdom, reconciled, renewed, and deeply loved. TODAY'S EPISODE: Introduction Welcome to Daily Radio Bible, where we journey together through the scriptures each day. On this April 3rd episode, join your host, Hunter, as we dive into Judges 17 and 18, exploring the story of Micah, his carved images, and the days when "everyone did what was right in their own eyes" 00:23. We'll next reflect on Psalm 89, singing of God's enduring love and faithfulness to David, even in moments of disappointment and challenge 07:01. Finally, we turn to 2 Corinthians 3, discovering the liberating power of God's Spirit written on our hearts and the gift of new life found in Christ 12:48. Throughout, we'll pause for prayer, gratitude, and encouragement to live confidently, knowing we are loved, free, and God's own. Let's enter this day together with thankful hearts and anticipation for what God will reveal in His Word. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He writes a new letter on your heart. Paul compares our life to a letter—one not written with ink or etched in stone, but written by the Spirit of God on human hearts 15:06. This new letter is a message of freedom and love; it's the identity that God establishes for his children. The old letter, the law, was glorious but always meant to be temporary. It was waiting for the arrival of something greater. With the coming of Christ, God now writes a new story in us, not shaped by our own hands or our own striving, but shaped by his Spirit 15:23. And this letter reads: You are loved. You are free. You are his 15:49. Your identity is not anchored in the idols we shape for ourselves or the relics we construct—like Micah, who made his own ephod and household gods, seeking satisfaction in something crafted by his own hands 16:05. When we try to write our own story, to make our own letter, we find ourselves exhausted, lost, and dissatisfied. These self-written stories, these idols and images we pursue, always leave us empty. They never truly set us free 16:51. Real freedom comes only when God's Spirit writes his letter on our hearts. It is a letter filled with confidence before God, an assurance that you stand forgiven and loved 17:07. This is the heart confidence we long for, and it is a gift—receive it today. God has set you free. Live today with the confidence that comes from the new thing he has written in you 17:27: You are loved, you are free, you are his. That is my prayer for my own soul, for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son—and for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL
