Today's episode is a dive into the rich and transformative pages of Scripture on this 14th day of January. I'm your host, Hunter, and together, we'll read through the Bible in a year, experiencing the life-changing love of Jesus. We'll start our day's journey in Genesis 34-36, where we'll explore the intense stories of Jacob, his daughter Dinah, and the unfolding of his family's complex dynamics. Then, we'll move into the New Testament with Luke 14, reflecting on Jesus' powerful teachings about humility, discipleship, and the Kingdom of God. In addition, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your prayers during my family's recent trials and share our gratitude for the healing we've experienced. Join me in prayer and reflection as we seek to understand and embody God's word in our lives. Let's journey together, finding strength in God's joy and remembering that we are deeply loved. Tune in, and let's embrace the transformative power of Scripture. You don't want to miss this compelling episode! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Our arrogance and pride will inevitably put us at the head of the table, and putting ourselves at the head of the table will inevitably lead to our humiliation and our ruin. That's what this Pharisee and these teachings in Luke 14 point out. And inevitably, when we make this life about us, we miss out altogether on the party that God has prepared. That's what it seems to tell us here in this parable of the banquet. There's nothing wrong with having land or oxen, having a wife. There's nothing bad about these things. These are blessings. These are and can be very good. But when they become ultimate things, they blind us to the gift that God is offering us because they become idols, and idols inevitably blind us. They fool us into thinking that we are the main character in this movie, that this life is my project. It's my story. We imagine that we sit at the head of the table in our own movie. Our spouse, our parents, our children, they are the supporting cast. We can begin to think that maybe it's all about us, and this posture in life will lead to a rude awakening someday. That's why Jesus says that we have to hate all of it in comparison to our love for God. Because in the end, it will rob us of life. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will see the richness and the reward, the party that has been prepared for those who receive and participate, who repent and believe that every good and perfect gift comes down from God the Father of lights, that he is the source, and that every human being, no matter how humble they might be, have been invited into his very life. The prayer of my soul is that I will sit there at the foot of the table with great joy at the life that I have in him. That I will learn the ways of self-giving love and follow him. That's a prayer that I have for my family too, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible with your host, Hunter. On today's episode, we close out the second week of our spiritual journey through scriptures and prayer, focusing on growth, healing, and the importance of community. We delve into the compelling story of Jacob and Laban's covenant at Mispah, Jacob's dramatic encounters with God, and his reconciliation with Esau. We'll also explore teachings from Jesus about repentance, salvation, and the transformative power of faith, using rich parables and profound metaphors. Hunter, our Bible reading coach, guides us through this spiritual passage, aiming to complete the entire Bible in a year. Join us in this season of Epiphany, as we seek deeper revelations of God's love and presence together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He leads us towards reconciliation and transformation. As we read through Genesis chapters 31-33 and Luke chapter 13, we are invited to reflect on the profound and transformative power of reconciliation and divine intervention. The journey we witness in Jacob's life shows us the paths of struggle, fear, exodus, and finally, reunification. We see Jacob carefully following God's instructions to return to his homeland, even amidst the hostility he faces from Laban's sons and the change in Laban's attitude. Witness how God reassures Jacob of His divine presence throughout his journey, guiding him toward reconciliation and peace. When Jacob confronts Laban, their escalating conflict ultimately resolves in a covenant of peace marked by a monument of stones, a powerful symbol of their pledged boundary and mutual respect under God's witness. This story mirrors our own journeys. It reveals how, even in times of tension and adversity, God's guidance can lead to reconciliation and peace. As Jacob proceeds to meet his estranged brother Esau, we see him wrestling with fear and anxious hope for reconciliation. His night-long struggle with a divine figure, resulting in his renaming to "Israel" and his receipt of God's blessing, symbolizes the profound transformation that emerges from our deepest struggles. Consider also how Jacob's tentative, divided approach to meeting Esau reflects our own fears in facing conflict. His prayer for protection and his offering of gifts are acts of humility and a plea for grace —steps toward reconciliation. Remarkably, when Jacob and Esau finally meet, their encounter culminates not in violence, but in a heartfelt embrace and reconciliation. In Luke 13, Jesus challenges us to reflect on the nature of repentance and the unexpected ways God's kingdom unfolds among us. He speaks of Galileans and the tragedy of the tower of Siloam, pointing not to divine punishment, but to the universal need for repentance to avoid perishing. The parable of the fig tree granted another year embodies the patience and second chances God offers us. Jesus' healing of the crippled woman on the Sabbath defies the indignation of the religious leaders but illustrates the transformative and liberating power of God's kingdom. Moreover, the metaphors of the mustard seed and yeast capture the expansive and permeating influence of faith, which starts small but transforms everything it touches. We also see Jesus cautioning about the difficulty of entering God's kingdom, stressing the importance of being known by God. His unwavering commitment in the face of Herod's threat exemplifies his dedication to God's mission. Much like Jacob's wrestling with God, our faith journey often involves deep struggle and self-emptying. In these moments of struggle, we are invited to enter into God's transformative work, which reconciles and renews. As citizens of God's kingdom, we are called to experience and extend the love, peace, and transformation that only He can provide. We're invited into this divine wrestling match, to struggle with our fears, face our conflicts head-on, and ultimately, to be transformed and reconciled both with God and others. Let us embrace this message of reconciliation and transformation. Let us live out our faith with the assurance that God's presence is with us, guiding every step. As we walk this journey together, may we be lights of this kingdom, bringing God's love and peace into every corner of our lives. That's my prayer for each of us today. May we walk in the transformative power of reconciliation and embrace our identity as citizens of His kingdom. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Today is January 12th, and I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach. Whether you're a longtime follower or new to our podcast, we're thrilled to have you join us. Every day, we gather to read through the Scriptures, wrapping up the entire Bible in a year—Old Testament once, New Testament twice. Today's readings take us through Genesis chapters 29 and 30, and Luke chapter 12, as we explore themes of faith, God's provision, and the transformative power of having a rich relationship with God. Join us not just to read the Word, but to let it open our eyes and transform our hearts through the love of the God who is always with us. So let's dive in, seek the blessings of God's presence, and find strength in His peace and joy. Remember, you are loved. Let's start today's journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Whose blessing will you see and receive? God's or yours? Will you force things and be a fool, demand things and be deceived, or will you trust and rest, receive, and believe? Blessing doesn't come from our own hands. The rich fool learned that the hard way. Blessing comes from God, in his time and in his way. And if we don't receive our blessing from God, we are destined to demand it from ourselves and others. They cannot give it to us, and we cannot give ourselves all that we need. It's just like the rich ruler who built barn after barn thinking that this was getting him somewhere, but in the end, he died and left those riches to some unknown person. And Jesus says that he was a fool. We see the same thing with God's people. In today's scripture, Rebecca, Rachel, and Jacob, amidst their struggle and demanding, they finally found the blessing, but it didn't come through their striving and struggling or their manipulation. The blessing and the gift they desired came from the hand of God and God alone. He is the one who opened the womb and gave them their inheritance. He alone is the one who offers the blessing that we desire and need in this life. And Jesus says his blessing looks like a rich relationship with God. That's right from verse 21. God's blessing always looks like a rich relationship with God. When we trust and rest in Him, we receive more than we could ask for. We will find our truest riches and the blessing we desire in relationship with Him. The blessing comes from His hand, from His very being. If we don't receive our blessing from God, we will demand it from some other place, some other person, and that'll leave us barren in the end, wanting in the end, a fool when all is said and done. The blessing of His presence comes when we rest in Him, when we are awakened to who we are in Him, and we trust it. We believe in Him and what He's done for us, who He has made us, being included into His very life. When we see this, our eyes are opened, and we see even in the simple things like witnessing a bird feasting without care, the life of a sparrow, a raven, an eagle in flight. We see that God cares for the ravens, for the sparrows, for the lilies of the field. And oh, how much more He cares for you. So whose hand are you seeking that blessing from? Your own, some other person's, or is it God's? Will you seek your blessing from Him, trusting in Him, believing the good news that He's come to proclaim, that He has embraced you, He has forgiven you, that you are His, and that you are loved. When we begin to live in this reality, that blessing will begin to look like a rich relationship with God. Let's seek His blessing by faith. Let's rest in the deep, deep love of Jesus, who has always loved us so well. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. I'm Hunter, your Bible reading coach, and today is January 11th, 2025. Our mission here is to journey through the entire Bible in a year, focusing on experiencing the boundless love and presence of Jesus. In today's session, we dive into some profound scriptures: Genesis chapters 27 and 28, Psalm 4, and Luke chapter 11. We'll explore the story of Jacob's deception, his journey and dream of the stairway to heaven, and Jesus' teachings on prayer, persistence, and the nature of God's love. We'll also reflect on Jesus' critique of the religious leaders of his time, emphasizing that God is not distant but is deeply loving and generous. Throughout our reading, we'll uncover the layers of these texts to see how they all point towards Jesus, the living word of God. So grab your Bible or simply listen along as we read and reflect together. Let's open our hearts to the presence of Jesus and start this day with a renewed sense of peace and purpose. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God's Transforming Presence Throughout today's readings, a powerful message emerges: God is actively transforming the hearts and lives of those who seek Him. We see it in Genesis with Jacob's transformative dream, a moment that marks a pivotal change in his journey and understanding of God. We witness it in Psalm 4, where David pours out his heart, seeking God's mercy and finding peace in His presence. And we see it most fully in the teachings of Jesus in Luke 11, where He calls us into a deeper relationship with God through prayer and steadfast faith. Jesus shows us that God's presence is not distant or indifferent. Rather, He is intimately involved in our lives, ready to bring about transformation. Jesus criticizes the religious leaders of His time for presenting a distorted image of God as a stern, unapproachable figure. Instead, He reveals a loving Father who desires to give good gifts to His children, including the Holy Spirit. This is a God who meets us in our brokenness, who invites us into His divine presence, and who transforms our lives from the inside out. God's transformative power is not just an abstract concept; it is a reality that we can experience daily. Jacob's dream in Genesis 28, with the stairway reaching to heaven and the Lord's promises, is a vivid reminder that God is with us, guiding us, and blessing us. Jacob responds by vowing to worship God, marking the holy place as Bethel, "House of God." Similarly, Jesus teaches us that through persistent, heartfelt prayer, we are drawn into closer communion with God, a relationship that continually shapes and renews us. He warns against hypocrisy and empty religious practice, urging us instead to cultivate inner righteousness and genuine faith. Jesus' power and his teachings remind us that God's kingdom is not a distant future reality, but a present and active force in our lives—a kingdom of peace, love, and hope. As citizens of this kingdom, let us internalize this transformative message and allow God's love to change us. Let us be filled with the Holy Spirit, who guides us in living out the very life of Christ. By walking in the light and truth of Jesus' teachings, we are set free from the burdens of our past, our regrets, and our failures. We are called into a new identity as beloved children of God, embraced by His grace and love. My prayer for you is that you open your heart to this transforming presence. Embrace the journey of being made new in Christ. Believe in the profound truth that God is with you, guiding you, blessing you. Just as Jacob set a stone to mark the place where he encountered God, may we mark our lives with moments of divine encounter and transformation, continually growing in faith and love. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Today is January 10th, and we continue our enriching journey through the scriptures, diving into Genesis 25-26, Psalm 6, and Luke 10. I'm Hunter, your bible reading coach, here to accompany you on this daily adventure of reading and listening to God's word, whether you're a long-time follower or joining us for the first time. Together, we explore not just the text but the deep and transformative presence of God's love in our lives. In today's episode, we'll witness the rich tapestry of our biblical heritage through stories of Isaac, Rebekah, and their twin sons, Esau and Jacob. We'll delve into the blessings and challenges Isaac faces, the powerful emotions expressed in Psalm 6, and Jesus' profound teachings in Luke 10, including the parable of the Good Samaritan. Amidst our readings, I want to thank you all for your heartfelt condolences and prayers for Heather and our family as we grieve the loss of her mom, Jean. Your support means the world to us. Stay tuned as we uncover timeless truths and the secret of living in the name, power, and presence of Jesus. Let's open our hearts and minds to the transformative journey ahead. Let's begin. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jesus is telling a secret, and he's thrilled at the thought of it. This is what he says in Luke 10, verse 21: "Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, 'Oh, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.'" This secret filled the Father and fills the Son with great joy. So what's the secret? The secret is him. Jesus is the way to God, the way to life. What every heart is looking for, he is the King, and he is proclaiming the kingdom. Jesus is the secret to it all. It's not the law. It's not traditions or piety. No. The secret is living in the name, in the power, in the presence of God—the God who's with us, who's for us. 72 people are sent out 2 by 2 in Jesus' name, and notice what he tells them not to take with them. No bag, no money, no staff, no nothing. The only thing they are equipped with is his name—the name of Jesus. The with-God life is not going to be found through our resources, our money, our staff, our provisions. No. It's only going to be found in him. So he has them take nothing except his name, his message, his blessing, his presence to the world. This is the with-God life—a life of utter reliance on God, being available to his presence and his agenda. When we do that, we end up fulfilling the law. We will be the people of mercy that we read about later on in this story with the Good Samaritan. We will be fulfilling the law. We will be participating with Christ himself. It'll be Christ, his power, the power of his name. It will be him working in and through us. We won't be the hero. It'll be Christ in us, and that's the secret. His presence in you, which Paul says is your hope and your glory. So let's live in the reality of the secret of Christ in you. Let's awaken to the wonder of what it is to step out into the day simply in his name, not striving, not pushing, sweating, fretting over what you think you need to do. Your real life is hidden with God in Christ. Your truest self, the self that is learning more and more of what it is to love God, to love your neighbor, to love yourself. Today, we can walk with him, eyes and ears wide open to his presence in you. So let's let him lead us and fill us with his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you.

TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the "Daily Radio Bible" podcast, where we journey through the entire Bible in a year, experiencing the profound love and presence of Jesus. I'm your host, Hunter, and today, on January 9th, 2025, we're diving into scripture readings from Genesis chapters 23 and 24, as well as Luke chapter 9. In Genesis, we witness the poignant story of Sarah's death and Abraham's careful arrangements for her burial. We also follow Abraham's servant on a divine mission to find a wife for Isaac, leading to the providential meeting with Rebekah. In Luke, Jesus empowers his disciples, performs miracles, and teaches profound lessons on identity, humility, and the cost of discipleship. Join us as we explore these powerful narratives and reflect on their significance in our journey of faith. Remember, you are loved and cherished. Let's find strength in joy together. I'll be back with you tomorrow, but until then, take care and bye bye! Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe to help others join us on this spiritual adventure. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He makes us citizens of his kingdom. What do you think the prevailing message of Jesus is? You would think that'd be a pretty easy question to answer, but I'm guessing that in a room full of people, there'd be many different kinds of answers to that question. But in Luke 9 as well as throughout the gospels and in the book of Acts, we're told many times very plainly what that message is. The central prevailing message of the Bible and of Jesus is the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is here, and the king is Jesus. And this king has come to reconcile the world to God. His rule and authority are being made known wherever he goes. He uses that in the feeding of the multitudes, the healing of the demon possessed, the opening up of the eyes of the blind, the healing of the lame, those who can't speak and hear. He is the king, and wherever he goes, the kingdom is showing up. Citizenship in this kingdom is being made available to ordinary people. His life is being offered and extended to the whole world, to us, to broken folks. And the good news of that kingdom is that God has made a way through Christ to reconcile us, to make us new, to make us citizens, and bring us under his rule and reign to make us his. By his death on the cross, he has reconciled us to himself. And now by the spirit of God, he has empowered us to manifest his kingdom life, to live it out, the very life of his son. As Jesus walks with us through our life, the kingdom shows up. The result of his kingdom life in us is freedom, joy, love, the fruit of the spirit. And when we do that, we are set free. We're set free from our past, our regrets, our shame, and we live in the joy of forgiveness and our adoption and inclusion in the very life and love of God. The one sitting on the throne said, Lord, I'm making everything new. Everything. And we see it wherever Jesus goes. There is power in the King, and there's power in his abiding life with us. And this King has made you his own. You are a citizen, and he is your King. Let us live as citizens of the kingdom of God. Let us embrace this message of the abiding and saving life, the reconciling life of Christ. Let us be ambassadors of this message of our great king. Let's tell people that they have been reconciled in Christ. See it. Believe it. Repent. Change your mind, and step into the life that is yours. I'm Hunter, your host for today's journey through scripture. In this episode titled "January 8th, 2025," we're diving into powerful stories of faith and obedience from Genesis chapters 20 to 22 and Luke chapter 8. We'll explore the dramatic account of Abraham nearly sacrificing his son Isaac, only to be stopped by an angel and discovering God's provision through a ram. We'll also travel with Jesus as He teaches through parables, performs miracles like calming storms, casting out demons, and healing the sick. We'll reflect on the deep faith of Abraham and how it shapes our understanding of God's character as a provider, emphasizing the profound lesson that God brings life rather than demanding sacrifice. Along the way, we'll also engage in heartfelt prayer and discuss how these ancient stories apply to our lives today. Join us as we read, reflect, and are transformed by God's word. Stay tuned, and let's embark on this spiritual journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Unthinkable. Something unthinkable is being asked of Abraham. He's being asked to offer his one and only son that he loves as a sacrifice on this mountain. It's some kind of test of obedience, and it's unthinkable. But then again, maybe it wasn't altogether unthinkable. Maybe it was entirely conceivable. This culture and many cultures throughout that time and through all time actually have had the practice of offering the blood of a human to pacify or appease or to court the favor of an angry or capricious god. Abraham knows this. He knows that this is what the gods of the culture in his world so often require. But Abraham also knows this, that God, the God he serves, the God who called him to follow, the God who promised him a son, The god who made good on that promise even at the age of a 100 years old. The god who takes him by the hand and says, let's go outside and look at the stars. The blessing that's in store for you is beyond the number of stars in the sky. The god who meets him at his lowest, at his darkest, in that deepest point of of barrenness. This god, he had learned to walk with and trust, and was not like any other god in the world. Abraham knew that this is not a bloodthirsty god. This is a god of life. This god is not distant. No. He comes to Abraham. And this god is not capricious. And he's not angry and ready to pounce. This is what other people believe about God, but not Abraham. He believed that God is good. The God who's named on this mountain, Jehovah Jireh, he is the one who meets us in our need, in our shame, in our barren places. He's not like other gods. He does not require that you provide for or spill out or atone for or pacify with your own blood or the blood of those that you love. No. God has another way. And this god doesn't kill his son. He's not like the other gods. The son instead offers himself. And he's killed by humanity, not his father. And through this offering of his life, he overtakes the evil one. He wins the victory for you and me, and for the sins of the whole world. He defeats the powers of sin and darkness once and for all. Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, god was able to bring him back to life again, because this god is good. And Abraham believed it. Abraham was asked to do the unthinkable because he knew something that we all should know. The character of God. That God is good. That we can trust him with our lives, that he comes to us in our darkest and most bare places, and he raises us up there into new life. Right there, he meets us. He has achieved this for us on Mount Moriah on the cross. There, he laid down his life for us, and there, he wins for us victory. The victory that our souls were made for. And the prayer of my heart today is that my eyes will be opened up to see what Abraham sees. The character of our God. I will learn to walk with him the way Abraham has, by walking with the son, who has revealed to me the face of his father. That I will know the embrace of the father and the son and the holy spirit. This life that my soul longs for has been provided for me on the mountain of the lord. Jehovah Jireh. The prayer of my own heart is that I will know this well. That I'll know the freedom of it, the life of it, the joy of it. And that's a prayer that I have for my family too, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. I'm your host, Hunter, and today we continue our journey to read through the entire Bible in a year, diving deep into the transforming love of Jesus. In this episode, we'll explore Genesis 18 and 19, Psalm 3, and Luke 7. We'll witness the Lord's visit to Abraham and the divine promise of a son to Sarah, Abraham's bold intercession for Sodom, and the ensuing dramatic rescue of Lot from the city's impending destruction. In Luke 7, we'll see Jesus' interactions in Capernaum, highlighting the powerful faith of a Roman officer and the miraculous raising of a widow's son. We'll reflect on the poignant devotion shown by a woman to Jesus, contrasted with a Pharisee's lack of hospitality, and delve into John the Baptist's moments of doubt while imprisoned. Join me as we meditate on the hope and truth of God's unwavering love, explore prayers for peace and understanding, and celebrate the incredible impact of Jesus' forgiveness and compassion. Plus, I'll share heartfelt thanks for your support and ways to stay connected with our community. Let's step into today's readings with hearts open to transformation! TODAY'S DEVOTION: John is sitting in prison waiting to die. Maybe he's feeling forgotten and overlooked. He's been ob He's done everything God's asked him to do. He's held up his end of the bargain, and now he wants to know what the plan is. Maybe he's hearing stories of Jesus healing a gentile soldier raising people from the dead. And if that's true, maybe he wants to know why he's sitting there in a dungeon. Why isn't God doing something? Why isn't he bailing him out? Why isn't God showing up? What's the plan? Are you the plan, Jesus? That's what he wants to know. So he sends some friends to ask the question, and Jesus' answer comes back with a resounding yes. John's friends report back to him, The blind see. Lepers are healed. The deaf hear. The dead are raised to life. The good news is being preached to the poor. In other words, Jesus is saying, yes. I've got a plan. I am the plan. This is what the plan looks like. God blesses those who don't turn away from me, turning their back in disbelief, those who turn away from from the truth and insist on believing the lie about god, That he is not for us. That he is somehow vindictive or petty towards us. That he is unconcerned about us. That he's holding back from us. See, that's the lie. We're called to hold on to the truth once we've seen it. And the truth about God is seen completely in the face of Jesus. He has revealed to us what God is like. God is not vindictive. He's not against us or unconcerned. He's not withholding from us. No. He is with us. He is abiding and forgiving and giving and loving us deeply. He's liberating us. He's he's opening eyes of the blind. He's cleansing the leper. He's opening the ears of the deaf. He is raising people to new life. That's the truth. When God reveals himself to us, we must see the truth of who he is and who we are because of him and not turn away from him. He is the plan for mending this broken world. He is the plan for mending your broken world, your broken heart. Don't let your circumstance dissuade you from believing in him. This woman barges into the tax collector's house isn't letting her circumstances divert her from the plan of god. That plan is Jesus. She's not letting her ego or her pride stand in the way of seeing him because of what he has done for her. Her eyes have been fixed on him because her eyes were opened to who she really is. She sees that she is forgiven, that she is known, that she is loved, that she is embraced. And so she won't let anything stand in the way of holding to this truth, living in the joy of this truth, being set free by this one who is true. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will have eyes like hers, That I'll fix my eyes on God's plan. His name is Jesus. That I will see in him all that there is to see of God and all that there is to know about who I really am, that I'll be set free, and that I'll know his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. And now let us pray. That's the prayer that I have for my soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. And now let us pray. Today, it's January 6th, and it's day six of our journey through the Bible. I'm Hunter, your host and Bible reading coach. For over a decade, we've been gathering from all corners of the world, united in our desire to be transformed by the God who is love. In today's episode, we'll delve into Genesis chapters 15 through 17, and wrap up with a reading from Luke chapter 6. We'll explore God's immense promises to Abraham, the profound lessons in the stories of Sarai and Hagar, and the powerful teachings of Jesus. Stay tuned as we dig deep into the scriptures to have our hearts pointed toward Jesus, the true point and purpose of it all. Let's begin this journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He is so much better than we think. God comes to Abraham, and he tells them that he's going to make him the father of many nations. That all the people of the world will be blessed through him. That he was going to give him the land of Canaan. And all of this, so it seemed to Abraham, was just too good to be true. Abraham couldn't get his head around a god who could actually do all this. So Abraham and Sarai conceived of something much more possible, something within reason, a surrogate son, something they together could try and make possible with their own efforts. We often do that. We struggle to think of God as big enough and good enough to do what our hearts long for or what he says he will do. So we often will interject with a scaled down version of what we think is possible. And we try to push these scaled down versions of goodness and love down the road because, well, that's the best we can hope for or even imagine. But God is so much better than we dare to think. Jesus is proof of that. He is so much better than many theologians and pastors have dared to preach. Luke describes a sermon that Jesus is preaching. And in this sermon, Jesus is commanding his followers to be much better than they've ever dared to be. Love your enemies, he says. Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. Do to others as you would have them do to you. Do this, he says, and you will truly be acting as children of God. Do this, and you will be acting the way God acts. In fact, Jesus ends this part of his message by saying, God is kind even to those who are unthankful and wicked. God the father is compassionate. Did you catch that? God is kind to the unthankful and the wicked. He is compassionate. That is who he is. And yet so often we scale that version of God down with an endless host of qualifications. He's good if you do this. He's good if you behave this way. He's good only to these people. But Jesus today, in his sermon, is inviting us to imagine God as better than anything we have dared to believe. Far too often, we have painted the face of God with a brush of our own anxieties and fears, and that picture of God is so much smaller, so less kind and loving than anything that Jesus has revealed to us. What Jesus shows us of the father is so much better. So let us hear how good God is today. Let's dare to begin to imagine, here at the beginning of 2022, that he is indeed better than we thought. When we begin to do that, we will begin to behave in ways that are far better than we ever thought we could. We will love our enemies. We will do unto others as we would have them do unto us. And that's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear listeners, to the January 5th, 2025 episode of the Daily Radio Bible. I'm your host, Hunter, and I'm thrilled to have you join us today on our journey through the Bible. Together, we'll read Genesis chapters 12 through 14, exploring the story of Abram's call and his adventures in Canaan and Egypt. We'll then turn to Luke chapter 5, witnessing Jesus' miraculous catch of fish, his healing of a man with leprosy, and his powerful teaching that challenged religious expectations. Our goal is not just to read these scriptures, but to see Jesus, to be transformed by His love, and to walk in His ways as beloved children of God. Let's dive in and embrace this journey together, welcoming the new life and abundant joy that comes from walking with our Bridegroom, Jesus. Join me as we explore, reflect, and pray through these timeless passages. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The religious leaders are upset. They're disturbed by Jesus and his disciples. They're always eating and drinking, they said to Jesus. And Jesus' response leads us to a question, especially if you've been at this Christian experience for any length of time. The question that rose up in my own heart was this, is the bridegroom with us or not? Jesus says if the bridegroom is not with us, it calls for fasting. Then he says there's gonna be a time, a time, when that happens. But if he is with us, here right It's time to eat and drink. It's time to go out into our day and live it in the reality of the bridegroom's presence with us. They were being critical of Jesus and his followers because they weren't showing the requisite religious, I don't know, gloom that was required or expected of holy people. They were eating and drinking. They were learning to live and exude that unselfconscious, childlike abundant life in the presence of the bridegroom. New life in a new way, probably much to the surprise of the disciples themselves. Luke seems to be saying that when you are walking with the bridegroom, you will walk in this new life in a new way because the one who renews us is with us, and he will one day renew all things. Now there is a time to mourn. There is a time to weep. There is a time to fast. For everything, there is a season. But in all things and in all seasons, we now do them in the presence and the company of the bridegroom. He is our comforter in times of trouble. He is our strength and our shield. He is our wisdom and our light. He walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death, and he prepares a banquet for us in the presence of our enemies. He is our bright and morning star. He is our joy and our life. So that means in the wake of loss and strife and hardships and even death, he is with us. This is his new wine abiding in you, and it is a new thing. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will live awake to the bridegroom's presence with me today, that I will grow in that unselfconscious, childlike, abundant life, and maybe even surprise myself today by living free of the requisite religious gloom that my old religious self would require and instead live as the child of God that I am. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you.

TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear ones, to the "Daily Radio Bible," where we journey through the scriptures together every day. I'm your host and Bible reading coach, Hunter. Today is January 4th, and we're diving into Genesis chapters 9 through 11 and Luke chapter 4. This episode explores God's covenant with Noah, the origins and spread of humanity, and the compelling story of Jesus' temptation and early ministry. We are reminded of God's boundless love and the call to extend His grace beyond our imagined borders. As always, we'll wrap up with heartfelt prayers, grounding us in the day's reflections. Let's immerse ourselves in God's word and discover His abundant life together. Tune in and be blessed! TODAY'S DEVOTION: He's outside the bounds and borders of where we expect him to be. He is present with those that we think are disqualified from his care, his healing, and his love. They're from places like Zarephath and Sidon or from the land of Syria, Gentile lands, border lands, among people that are our enemies, people that we think are enemies of God, people we think are headed for destruction. And yet, here's Jesus preaching his first sermon in a church service and proclaiming that God is with them too. That God's favor, his healing, his mercy, his grace is with those people too. This made no sense to his listeners. It offended their religious sensibilities to the core, so much so that Luke tells us that they tried to kill him afterwards. But Jesus will not be stopped. He will not be silenced, and his message will continue to be proclaimed. Jesus comes to show us that God is not a tribal deity. No. He is the God of all tribes. He's the god of all the earth. And his love for the world and its people is reaching into places that our religious minds and our offended minds say are outside the bounds of god's grace. So let's beware of drawing borders around God's love and his grace. Let's look carefully at how Jesus begins his ministry here in his very first sermon, And let us understand well what the Spirit of God is saying to his people. The good news is for the poor. Captives are released. The blind are seeing. The oppressed are set free. And the time of the Lord's favor has come. And Jesus says that that favor has come to everyone, inside and outside of whatever borders we have constructed. And that is good news for all of us. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will participate with him in seeing and proclaiming and experiencing the favor and love of God in my own life and in the lives of all people. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear listeners, to the Daily Radio Bible on this 3rd day of January. I'm Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother, here to guide you through another transformative journey in the pages of Scripture. Today, we dive into Genesis chapters 6 through 8, chronicling Noah's obedience amidst the great flood, and finish with Luke chapter 3, where we encounter John the Baptist's call to repentance and the baptism of Jesus. Together, we'll reflect on the profound themes of judgment, renewal, and the unmistakable proof of life found in Jesus Christ. Join me as we embark on this spiritual voyage, allowing God's words to shape our lives and hearts. Let's get started. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Noah sends out a dove 3 times for proof of life. God has sent judgment on the earth, and Noah sends out a dove to see if there's still life amidst the remains of his judgment. 3 times he releases this dove. The first time the dove returns, having found nothing to rest upon. It found no life, only water and only judgment. But 7 days later, he sends it out again. And this time, it comes back with proof of life, a fresh olive branch in its beak. It was fresh. It was miraculous. That branch had grown, matured, and was fresh within 7 days. It was a picture of God's re creation. Just as God created the heavens and the earth in 7 days, here we see a picture of God making all things new in 7 days. Noah releases the dove again a third time. This time, the dove doesn't come back. The 3rd time he releases the dove for more proof of life, and it doesn't come back. The next time we see this dove, it will be many cen In the flowing rivers of the Jordan River, the dove reappears, descending upon the one who is life itself. No more proof needed. The one who is the life has come to be with us, to rescue us from sin, death, and the grave. He is greater than Abraham. He is greater than Moses. He is greater than all the names listed today in our reading. He is the one that the father declares to be his son. He is the one that John says will take away the sins of the world. He is the proof of life we've all been waiting for, and the prayer of my own heart today is that I will begin to participate more and more with his life. That I would declare his message of life faithfully to this world that is dying to hear, dying to know, dying to drink deeply from the waters of life. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, and that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Feel free to read along with these prayers in the show notes of today's podcast, and meditate on these words that are being spoken over you, your family, and our world. And now, let us pray. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear ones, to the second day of January and day number 2 of our journey through the Bible. I'm Hunter, your host, bible reading coach, and brother in faith. Here at the Daily Radio Bible, we keep it simple: we read through the scriptures — the Old Testament once, and the New Testament twice every year — with the hope of being transformed by the God who is love. Today's readings are from Genesis chapters 3 through 5 and Luke chapter 2. We'll explore the fall of humanity, the story of Cain and Abel, and the birth of Jesus. Join us as we delve into these powerful passages and seek to be transformed by God's word and love. Let's embark on this journey together. Welcome! TODAY'S DEVOTION: You know, sometimes we think we have to get ourselves straightened out at least a little bit before we can expect God to come near to us or do anything for us. But that's not the gospel at all. We are the ones that run and hide from him. He's not the one who hides from us. No. He comes to us. In today's scripture, we see that Adam and Eve are banished from the garden. And oftentimes we read these passages, or at least they exist in our mind, in such a way that we think that they are banished because God is so holy that he can't stand to be in the presence of us or our sin, that somehow his holiness would be violated by being anywhere near us. But that's not what the scripture is saying, and that is not what God is doing. No. He is banishing Adam and Eve, but they are banished so that in their state of blindness and delusion that came over them when they agreed with the serpent and disobeyed God's instructions so that in that state, they would not do something that could not be undone. No. God is not so holy that he must separate himself from you. God has come to you just as you are. In your delusion, in your darkness, he comes. He comes to restore us, to cover us, to open our eyes. Just as we are, God comes to us, and that's the gospel. The holiness of God is a holy love, and that love is a consuming fire that purges all things that are not of love. And that holy love sent Jesus to the cross so that he would break the power of sin, so that our eyes could be opened, so that we might see who we are in him, what he's created us to be. We are his children, and he is a God who is with us. And that my friend is good news. And we can now live with him, participating with him in his great work of restoration of all things. And the news is so so good. It's better than we've ever thought. God has not banished us because he despises us. No. He has banished us so that he might find a way to restore us, and that is exactly what he's done. And God is not so holy that he despises you and cannot be in your presence. No. He loves you, and he has come to you just as you are. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will understand these things and that I will experience the truth of it, and live in the joy of it. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son, and that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. I'm your host, Hunter, and today is January 1st, 2025. As we kick off this new year, we're embarking on a transformative journey through the Bible, reading the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. Together, we'll immerse ourselves in scripture, reflect, and pray, as we draw closer to Jesus and His boundless love. In today's episode, we dive into the foundational chapters of Genesis, exploring the creation story, and begin the Gospel of Luke, witnessing the miraculous announcements of John the Baptist and Jesus' births. We'll discuss living a shame-free life through Christ and encourage you to say "yes" to His presence and forgiveness. Join us for a time of prayer and reflection, and let's start this year by focusing our hearts on the one who offers us true, abundant life. Remember, dear ones, you are loved. Let's get started! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Shame free living. That's how the story begins. God created man and woman, and they were without shame. But in the chapters ahead, we are going to see that they have been robbed of a life without shame. We'll soon read all about it. We'll also read about the devastation that ensues. But as we read through the whole story of God, we're going to find that it doesn't end there. No. That would be bad news. But this is good news. And the good news is that God has sent his one and only son, the second Adam. And he's going to do everything necessary for us to get back to a life without shame. A life lived with God. That's the whole point of this amazing story of the Bible. That this has been given to us. God has come to us at our lowest, the most shame filled places of our lives. Christ has come to meet us there, and he offers us there a real abundant shame free life. Some of you went through this last year carrying a lot of shame, but this year can be different. This year, you can come to him, not just pages in a book, but to Christ himself who is present with you and in you. And you can begin to open up your heart to him so that he might set you free from all the ways that shame has crippled your life. The prayer that I have for my own soul today is that you and I would have the same spirit and heart that Mary had when she heard the good news. She said yes to it. She said yes. May it be unto me as you have just said. Maybe she didn't understand all of it. No doubt she didn't. But she was ready to say yes to God. And maybe that's something that you can do today. Even though you don't understand all things, you can say yes to him who does. You can say yes If you've heard like I heard today in the reading that God intends for us to live without shame, then say yes to that. If you have heard as I have heard today that Jesus has come to take that shame away, To take away any barrier that would keep us from a life with him? Then maybe you and I can both say yes to that. Let me encourage you to say it, even in your unbelief. Go ahead and say it now. Yes, God. I believe. Help me in my unbelief. I say yes to your presence in my life. I say yes to your forgiveness. I say yes to the hope that I can live without shame and in your strength. Maybe you just need to whisper it to yourself. Maybe you need to shout it out loud. It's important that we begin wherever we can. And maybe today, that beginning is simply a whisper of faint hope that maybe it's true. That maybe we can be free. Maybe God really is with us. Maybe Christ really doesn't live in you. Maybe you really are loved by God. Maybe there's a way to live without shame. And to that, I say, yes. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear ones, to the final day of the year and the concluding episode of 2024 on the Daily Radio Bible. I'm your host, Hunter, and today we reach the end of our year-long journey through the scriptures. We'll be diving into Revelation chapters 19 through 22, discovering the grand visions of the new heaven, new earth, and the holy city, New Jerusalem. As we reflect back on the year, celebrating the scriptures we've read, the lessons we've learned, and the transformations we've experienced, let's also look forward with hope and anticipation for what 2025 has in store. Thank you for being part of this journey, and as always, may God's joy be our strength as we move forward. Let's embark together – 2025, here we come! TODAY'S DEVOTION: It's only just begun. Even as we conclude this story, we see that a new story is just beginning. A new creation is coming. A new heaven and a new earth, a new city, a new Jerusalem with new citizens composed of all the nations, and these nations will walk in the light of God. They are enveloped in his light. They are his children of light. Today, as we consider these great mysteries, let's be sure of this. This story that we're living right now has an endpoint. There is a conclusion that God is bringing it to, but it just doesn't end with a conclusion. No. Now we see that there is still more to come. In fact, the best is yet to come. And that can be a great reminder and a great comfort to our souls. As we see certain chapters of our own lives come to their conclusion, we can rest assured that God is not done. There's still more to come. Because with Him we have life. We have life abundant and He promises to be with us through all of the seasons and the chapters of our lives, even as He has been this year and all that it brought, all its challenges, its misfortunes, its victories, and its joys. And he will continue to be with us as we walk into this next chapter. All that will unfold, we do not know, but we do know this, that God is with us, that he is good, and that we are loved. The prayer of my own soul today is that I will live in the light, that I will respond to the one who is the light of the world, the one who has come to give himself, that I might know him, that I might be free, that I might experience his peace and his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.

Today is December 30th, 2024, and we're on day 365 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to guide you through these powerful passages. As we approach the end of the year, we're diving deep into Revelation chapters 15 through 18. We'll explore the profound imagery and warnings within, underscoring that despite the frightening visions of God's wrath, the ultimate message is one of hope: God's final word is Jesus. Join me as we reflect on the end-of-times visions and find solace in the promise of Christ's return. Let's encounter the transforming power of God's word together. Stay tuned, and let's prepare our hearts and minds for today's reading and prayer. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God's final word is Jesus. John tells us in the first chapter of revelation that we are to read all the words of this prophecy to the church, all of it, and that there's a blessing for us when we do this. Every drop of this book must be read. Every word, including these words concerning god's wrath. The only way that we can bear to hear the terrifying and nightmarish words of revelation is for us to read them in the light of Jesus who is god's revelation. The only way to utter these words is to know that it is not God's final word. No. God's final word is Jesus, his son. Jesus is God's final answer to the world's great evil. Evil hides and thrives in darkness and deceit. But here in these chapters we see the veil is pulled back. The spell is gone and we can see clearly a glimpse of the horrors of evil in this world. Jesus has come to bring an end to the cruelty and the hidden and horrific ways of this evil world, and we see it here in these chapters. Babylon is fallen, we're told. It'll be no more. It will be thrown into the sea, never to rise again because something new is on the way. God's final word is on the way. The living word, Jesus himself is on the way. He's not done yet. The ravages of evil run deep and are often unseen, but God's final word is not wrath. His final word is Jesus. And Paul makes it very clear that Jesus has come to disarm and to defeat the evil powers of this world. Jesus wins that victory on the cross, and we are the spoils of that victory. In His great mercy, He has come after us. He has broken the spell that the evil one has placed on us, and he enables us to see his love, his hope, and his light. There's more to come, my friend. This is not the last word that god has for us. I know we only have one more day left, but rest assure, this is not the final word. Let us make sure that every time we come to the word of God, we are coming to see him. And may the love of this vision of him change and transform us from the inside out. Let it transfigure the work of our hands, the paths our feet take, the words our mouth speak. Let Christ live in and through you. Your life will honor him, and he will accomplish all that he has prepared for you when we say yes to that, when we let him do it. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will let him do it. That's a prayer that I have for my family too, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Today is December 29th, and we're on day 364 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Heather, and I'm thrilled to be with you this Sunday as we dive deep into the Word, not just to read it, but to encounter Jesus—the true source of life. We're joined by fellow believers from around the globe, seeking the Holy Spirit's illumination in our exploration of Revelation chapters 10 through 14. We'll hear of the mighty angel and the scroll, the two witnesses, the cosmic battle in heaven, and the visions of beasts and divine judgment. As we unfold the mysteries and symbolic visions, we'll reflect on the profound call to "eat the book"—to fully internalize God's living Word and let it guide our lives. Let's come together, warm our hearts around the fire of God's love, and find strength and direction in His timeless truth. Plus, stay tuned for prayers and announcements as we near the end of another year. So grab your Bible, and let's dive in! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Eat this scroll. It will be sweet like honey, and it will be bitter in your stomach. This whole fantastical episode of visions begins with John being told to eat the book. It's only after he eats the scroll, which is both sweet and bitter, that he is given access to the behind the scenes visions and machinations and happenings in the spiritual world. There are deep mysteries here that are yet unlocked. Many people spend their lifetime trying to decipher dates, times, and meanings of these words and visions. Yet their ultimate deciphering can only happen for those who eat the book. Eating the book is a precursor to understanding God's vision. And that's true for our own life. It's only as we abide in him and his word, as we eat the book, as we accept within ourselves the living word of God, that we are given a vision and direction for what God has for our life. God reveals to us what we need to know, when we need to know it. Ours is to take the next vision that God has placed before us. Ours is to take the book, not words on a page, but the living word of God, and eat it. Ours is to stand back in awe and worship. This story that we read about and find ourselves in is going somewhere. It's not an endless cycle of the same thing over and over. No. God is culminating things. The angel says Things are coming to a rapid conclusion. We can be sure that God is on the move, and we are to be on the move with Him, taking each step, His Spirit within us, according to his word each and every day. It is in living in communion with him, taking within you the living word, the food for your soul, that you will have what you need to walk out the vision that God has for your life. Eat his word. Receive from him visions, direction, courage, and hope to take that next step with him, living life in him. And now let's pray together TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we embark on a journey through the scriptures every day. Today is December 28th, and it's day 363 of our quest to read through the entire Bible in a year. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and bible reading coach. In today's episode, we'll be diving into the powerful and transformative chapters of Revelation 5 through 9. As we navigate these profound passages, we'll encounter visions of scrolls and seals, mighty angels, and vivid imagery that speaks to the ultimate victory of the Lamb. Our focus today remains on experiencing the transformation that comes from the God who is love, fully revealed to us in the face of Jesus. Join us in this spiritual journey as we seek to understand the deeper meaning of these scriptures and the hope they bring. Let's begin with prayer and open our hearts to the message of God's word. TODAY'S DEVOTION: If this scroll isn't opened, then how are we gonna make sense of this story? The story of human history demands that this scroll be opened. This story of life demands that justice and righteousness prevail. Some sense must be drawn from all the senseless evil in this world. John falls into despair at the thought that somehow there'll be no judgment and no true reconciling of all things, a restoration of all things. When God is all and in all, He wonders whether perhaps it's all meaningless. He wonders whether there will be a response from God in the end. John cries out at the thought. He cries out for someone to make sense of the wreckage. And in this final moment, when it appears that all's lost, an elder insists that John stop weeping. He insists that there's one who is worthy and who is able. It is the one sitting on the throne. He can open the scroll because he has stepped in into the darkness, into the despair, into the loss, into death, into the grave. He is the lamb of God who has taken the sins of the world. He has offered himself on the cross. And in that offering, he defeats death by death in order that he might rescue those that have been taken captive by sin, death, and the grave. He's come to rescue lost Adam and draw us all into his saving life. In his body, he accomplished this victory. You might be like John today, weeping because you think there's no way to make sense out of what's happened in your life. Well, the elder and John and me, we all want to remind you to look. The lamb. He's worthy. Look at him. See what he has done. He has won a victory for you, for us, for the world. That will transform our weeping into absolute worship and adoration. Let's look and ask the spirit to help us to see the lamb who opens the scroll. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. I'm Hunter, your host, Bible reading coach, and fellow traveler on this journey through the scriptures. Today, we find ourselves on December 27th, nearing the end of our year-long quest through God's Word. In this episode, we'll delve into the powerful and enigmatic book of Revelation, exploring chapters 1 through 4. Together, we'll uncover the awe-inspiring vision given to John and the profound messages to the seven churches. We'll meditate on the majesty of the One seated on the throne and reflect on how seeing Christ at the center transforms our understanding of everything. Join me as we immerse ourselves in scripture, lift our hearts in prayer, and embrace the timeless truth that you are deeply loved. Plus, we'll offer some insights on how you can support this ministry as we continue to share this transformative message with the world. So, grab your Bible, open your heart, and let's embark on this spiritual journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There's someone sitting on the throne. The one on the throne is described as brilliant. The description is far more elaborate than that, but it's clear that it's not me and it's not you sitting there. Here in this last book of the bible, John pulls back the curtain for us so that we can see the one who has been at work since the very beginning. All the plot lines are converging on him. John wants us to see that the plot and the point of the whole thing is this one who is sitting on the throne. The world is seen in its proper alignment when Christ is at the center and on his throne. This is how the whole story and universe was always intended to be. Romans 11:36 says, everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever and ever. And in acts 1728, it says, for in him, we live and move and have our very being. It all makes sense when the curtain's pulled back and we realize that he is the center of it all. With him at the center, things are in their proper alignment. Today, we're called to surrender our usurped place at the center of our life and to see Him for who He is and to worship Him. He is the one who's made a way for all of us to find a way to life. And He came into this world to offer Himself as a sacrifice for us. He came for all of us, whether we recognize it or not. He's come at His Father's bidding, in the anointing of the spirit, to gather us into the embrace of love that is shared between the father and the son and the spirit. So today, let us see him, the one whose eyes are like flames of fire, whose hair is white like wool, with a gold sash across his chest, his feet like burnished bronze, and whose voice thunders like mighty ocean waves. Let's see him, the one who humbled himself with such contrition that he came to us as a little baby, that we might know him, walk with him, love him, worship him, and know his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul today. Today, we're called to surrender our usurped place at the center of our life and to see Him for who He is and to worship Him. It's December 26th, 2024, and this is day 361 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to spend some quality time with you in the pages of the scriptures. Our goal goes beyond just reading; we seek to experience the transforming life, presence, and love of Jesus. Today, we'll be delving into Psalm 117 and 119, followed by 2nd and 3rd John. These readings highlight the beauty and power of God's word, His unfailing love, and the fulfillment of His promises. Together, we'll reflect on the treasures of God's word, its ability to revive, encourage, and guide us. We'll end our time with heartfelt prayers and a call to carry God's love and peace into the world. So, join me as we warm our hearts by the fires of His love and deepen our understanding of His word. Let's get started! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Psalm 19 is an amazing declaration of the beauty of God's word. Verses 11 through 13 says, I have hidden your word in my heart that I may not sin against you. I praise you, oh, lord. Teach me your decrees. I have recited aloud all the regulations you've given us, and that's what we've been doing here at this podcast. All this last year and for the last 7 plus years, we've been reciting aloud the wonderful works of God, and we have hidden his word in our hearts because it helps us not to sin. But that's not the only thing that the word of God does. Psalm 119 gives us an amazing litany of the treasures of God's word and all that it does for us. The word of God revives and encourages our heart. It keeps us from lying to ourselves. It's where our happiness is found. It rids us of shame. It renews our lives with goodness and gives us hope. It comforts us in times of trouble. It's an anchor. It keeps evil far from us. It teaches us judgment and knowledge. It sustains us with joy and gives us life. It makes us wise. It guides our steps. It is joy in times of stress. It is a great treasure. All of these things I found to be true. Just as the psalmist says, his word is more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. His promises are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. By god's grace, we will continue to hold tightly to the word of truth. Through good times and bad, through the storm or in calm seas, we will hold to him. He honors us as we honor his word. He blesses us when we seek him with all our hearts. The treasure, friends, is right here. The treasure is him. His word points us to him, reveals him, and he is the treasure our hearts are longing for. So let's open our hearts to his word and let it do its good work within us and guide us into his presence so that we might walk by his side and have his joy. And that's the prayer that I have for my family, and that's the prayer that I have for you. On this 25th day of December, join your Bible reading coach, Hunter, on the Daily Radio Bible podcast for a special Christmas episode. Today marks the 360th day of our journey through the scriptures, and together, we delve into the transformative love and life of Jesus, the true light of the world. In this episode, Hunter reads from 1st John, chapters 1 through 5, reminding us of the humble arrival of Jesus and His profound impact on our lives. Alongside scripture, we engage in heartfelt prayers for peace, understanding, and divine guidance. So, take a pause from the festivities, and let the message of God's love fill your heart and home on this blessed day. Join us on this enlightening journey, and remember, you are loved. Let's get started! TODAY'S DEVOTION: John reminds us today that the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. The true light is Jesus Christ. His coming was about as unassuming as as one could imagine, a tiny baby, born to a couple of teenagers. The mother, a virgin, in a tiny town, born in a manger. Who could have imagined that God would come to us in such a lowly way? But Jesus' humble entrance brought light back into the dark world. Though, at first, only some family and friends, a few shepherds, some wise men took note of it. When we read this, we can't help but draw a line from the birth of Jesus, the light of the world, to Genesis, chapter 1, when God's light broke over the darkness, when God created the first dawn. Then God said, let there be light, and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. For the God who said, let there be light in the darkness, has made this light shine in our hearts so that we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. As we look to the birth of Jesus, consider the ways that Jesus has brought light into your dark world. Put that light on a stand and offer that light to others. And imagine a day coming when the glory of God will be all and in all. And that's a prayer that I have for my own soul. And that's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Today is December 24th, Christmas Eve, and it's also day 358 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Heather, your host on Sundays. On this special episode, we'll reflect on the profound love of Jesus Christ through readings from John chapters 19 through 21. Though it may seem unusual to focus on Jesus's death and resurrection on Christmas Eve, this juxtaposition highlights the remarkable story of salvation—from the humble birth in a manger to the ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Join us as we warm our hearts around the fire of God's love, immerse ourselves in the Word, and rekindle our spirits with the peace and purpose that Jesus offers. Let's dive right in! TODAY'S DEVOTION: He's the God of many other things. John ends his gospel with these words. Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written. Those other things aren't relegated to the past. Those other things continue on even today. He continues to transform men and women, boys and girls. He's showing up behind locked doors and locked hearts. As Reverend Doctor Munther spoke so eloquently in his message from Bethlehem yesterday, Christ is under the rubble in Gaza, suffering with humanity. He is with the grieving families of those in Gaza and also with those in Israel who are grieving loss. Christ continues to be with us in all our heartache. He is still whispering, peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. Follow me. He's calling all of us to receive God's peace, a peace that was won when he conquered death. He called Peter and he calls us all to move beyond our failure and into a new life. His purpose for us is to go and feed his sheep, laying down our life for the sheep the way Christ has laid down his life for us. He comes to speak life and peace and gives us a new way to live. Even, and maybe especially, on this Christmas Eve, may we move beyond ourselves and into his path of compassion, love, and purpose. Today is December 23rd, and we're on day 358 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to guide you as we read through the entire Bible, covering the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. But more than just reading, our deep desire is to experience the transformative love and presence of God, fully revealed in Jesus Christ. In today's episode, we'll dive into the Gospel of John, chapters 15 through 18. We'll explore Jesus' profound teachings about the vine and the branches, his relationship with the Father, and his prayers for his disciples. We'll witness the poignant moments leading up to his arrest and Peter's denial, and conclude with Jesus' trial before Pilate. Through these scriptures and our time in prayer, we seek not just understanding, but the peace and strength to walk with Him through all of life's trials. Join us as we immerse ourselves in God's Word. Let's embark on this sacred journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Here in John 16, we see Jesus trying to describe his relationship with the father. He's preparing his disciples for what's about to happen. He's trying to describe all of this to them, and they're struggling to understand. And finally, it seems like they just decide to fake it and say, well, yes, Lord. We finally understand. Finally, you're speaking plainly and not figuratively. We get it. I can't help but think that Jesus knew that they did not understand. In fact, in verse 31 and 32, he asked them somewhat incredulously, do you really believe that the time is coming, indeed it's here now, when you'll be scattered each one going his own way leaving me alone? I mean, if they really understood, would they do that? Yet Jesus says I'm not alone because the father is with me. It seems that Jesus is calling them out a bit ever so gently. I think he's saying no no no. You really don't believe. If you truly believed, you wouldn't desert me, and that's exactly what's about to happen. You're going to leave, but I won't be alone. This is all very necessary, and then he tells them what a heart looks like that truly believes in him. Verse 33 I've told you all this so that you may have peace in me here on earth. You'll have many trials and sorrows, but take heart because I have overcome the world. We are going to have troubles in this world. If anything, the last 2 years has given us is clarity on this point. That is a reality. We will have troubles in this world. Sometimes there is a pandemic. But take heart, Jesus says. Have courage, he says. I've overcome the world. I think Jesus is saying that if we truly believe, we won't run and hide. Instead, we'll recognize that he's with us, and he has the power to overcome and see us through all the troubles that we experience in this life. Life will not be void of troubles, but he will be there. So let me ask you, and I'll ask myself, do we really believe, or are we running and hiding? Have we learned to receive the word that says, take heart. I have overcome the world. You don't need to flee if you believe that I'm with you. So walk with me in and through all of your troubles. I'm with you. Have faith in that. Walk with him through that. Walking with him is what we are all called to do, and by faith, that is what we will do. That's the prayer that I have for my own heart, for my own soul. And that's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Today is December 22nd, 2024, day 357 of our incredible journey through the Bible. I'm Hunter, your host and Bible reading coach, here to guide your hearts and minds toward Jesus. While Heather is away visiting family in Colorado, we gather here to immerse ourselves in the sacred scriptures. In this episode, we journey through John chapters 12 through 14, witnessing powerful moments like the anointing of Jesus by Mary, Judas's eventual betrayal, and Jesus's profound teachings on love, service, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. As we read, we'll explore the gift that Jesus offers—peace of mind and heart—timely words as we prepare our hearts for the Christmas season. So, settle in, open your hearts, and let's dive deep into the living Word of God together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: I just went and did a little Christmas shopping right before doing this podcast. I was looking for gifts as you do when you go Christmas shopping. In today's reading, we hear that Jesus has offered us a gift. Verse 27 says, I am leaving you with a gift. Curious to know what it is? I mean, it is almost Christmas. It's peace of mind and heart. That's the gift. It's unique to him, he says. No one in this world can give you that. Nothing in this world can give you that. Peace of mind and heart. Is your mind troubled? Is your heart troubled? Jesus is offering you a gift today, a living word of God. A man who walked about the land of Galilee, who performed miracles, who raised the dead, who offered himself on behalf of all of humanity, the creator of all things. Creator of that ocean that I walked by today, looked out over. He offers me peace of mind and heart. All those anxieties that I have about my future, about my family, about finances, about health, about my mom, all those things that make my mind very unpeaceful. Jesus wants to give me peace. There in the midst of all that, he says, I have a gift for you, Hunter. Any place in my heart that is not settled or that is wounded, that is confused or injured, Jesus himself today says, I can bring peace there. I can quiet your heart even. So, if you're like me today, let us together say thank you. Let us together find some time to to sit with this generous gift. And allow the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the counselor, the one who is with us now. Help us to open that gift, and to begin to live in the light of it, in the joy of it, in the love of it, receiving all that God has for each and every one of us. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the pair that I have for you. Peace, of mind, and heart.
