His example provides strength during trials. God disciplines His children to shape their character and lead them into holiness. Although painful at the moment, His discipline produces peace and righteousness. The chapter urges believers to strengthen those who are weary, pursue peace, and live in holiness. They are cautioned not to be like Esau, who gave up his birthright for temporary gain. A contrast is drawn between Mount Sinai, marked by fear, and Mount Zion, where believers come to a joyful gathering with angels, the redeemed, and God. Since they are receiving an unshakable kingdom, they must worship God with reverence, for He is a consuming fire. We are running a race that requires endurance, and we are not alone. Others have gone before us, and Jesus leads the way. He faced the cross, suffered with purpose, and is now seated in glory. When we go through hardship, it is not punishment but loving discipline from God. He is shaping us, teaching us, and helping us grow. His discipline may be difficult, but it brings peace and righteousness in the end. We must encourage those who are weak, pursue peace with everyone, and live holy lives. We are not standing in fear like those at Mount Sinai. We have come to something greater, a heavenly kingdom. Let us worship God with reverence, for He is holy and present. Holy Father, thank You for Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. He endured the cross, faced shame, and now sits at Your right hand in glory. We will fix our eyes on Him when we grow tired or discouraged. Teach us to see Your discipline as love, shaping us into who You have called us to be. Strengthen us to walk in peace and holiness. May we never exchange Your promises for temporary comfort. Remind us that we belong to a kingdom that cannot be shaken, preserved by the blood of the new covenant in Jesus' name.  Thought Questions: What does it mean for you to have your eyes fixed on Jesus? How does He help you see that discipline is a part of honoring the Father? Is it important for Christians to feel cared for and supported? How do you regularly go about strengthening the weak among God's people? You have come to Mount Zion. What do you see, by faith, upon that mountain? And how does this view motivate reverence for God?

Through faith, God approved the lives of many who trusted Him without seeing the outcome. The world was created by the word of God and understood through faith. This chapter recounts people like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Moses, and others who courageously followed God. They obeyed even when the path was unclear, knowing that God rewards those who seek Him and looking forward to promises that had not yet been fulfilled. Some conquered kingdoms, while others endured suffering and death; yet all were honored for their unwavering faith. They did not receive the final promise, for God planned something better. Together with believers in Jesus, they will be made complete in what God has prepared. We are called to live by faith, trusting in what we cannot yet see. Faith gives us confidence in God's promises and anchors our hope. Those who came before us lived this way. They obeyed God, even when the path was uncertain. We must follow the example of faithful men and women, walking courageously through trials with our sights set on heaven. We will not be perfect, but God will reward our consistent deference to His glory. Some of us will experience great victories, while others will endure tragic loss in this life. What unites us is a deep trust in God. He has reserved an eternal home for His people, where all will be made to live free from suffering.  Mighty God, we thank You for the men and women who lived by faith and trusted You completely. They followed Your will, believed Your promises, and endured many trials with unwavering courage. Help us develop hearts like theirs, ready to obey even when the outcome is unclear. Teach us to walk by faith, knowing You will reward those who seek You. We commit to standing strong in the face of trials, opposition, and all challenges accompanying this life. May our faith grow deeper, as we calibrate our lives to long for the great resurrection and eternity in heaven with You.   Thought Questions: How do you define the word “faith”? How is it different from works, and why is faith necessary for works of obedience to matter?  Which example of faith in this chapter stands out as the most inspirational for you? How can you emulate that person in your faith?  How can there be comfort and joy when Christians die unexpectedly, especially in great anguish as the result of religious persecution?

Year after year, offerings were made, but they could not remove sin. Instead, they served as a reminder of sin. Christ came to do what the law could not. He offered Himself once for all, making perfect those who are sanctified. Through His sacrifice, God promises to remember sins no more. With full access to God through Christ, believers are encouraged to draw near with sincere hearts, hold firmly to hope, and encourage one another in love and good deeds. A warning is given against deliberate sin after receiving the truth, and a call is made to endure with faith, knowing that God rewards those who do His will. We have been given something far greater than a system of repeated sacrifices. Jesus offered Himself once as sufficient to cover all our sins. Because of Him, we can come before God with complete confidence, knowing our hearts have been made clean. We are called to live with that boldness, not falling back into fear or guilt. Our hope is secure, and we must hold to it no matter what we face. We are also called to look out for one another, encouraging each other in love and faithfulness. Together, we flee willful sin and honor Jesus' sacrifice, trusting that God sees our efforts and endurance and rewards those who remain faithful to His will. Let us not grow weary. Merciful Lord, we praise You for opening the way into Your presence through the blood of Jesus. Thank You for removing the weight of sin and giving us confidence to draw near to You. Fill our hearts with awe at the gift of His sacrifice. Teach us to walk in holiness with eternal gratitude. Remind us that we are Your people, set apart to love, serve, and endure together. When trials come and the temptation to choose sin arises, help us to stand firm in honor of Christ's sacrifice. May we set our hopes on the better possession to come.  Thought Questions: What has the blood of Jesus accomplished in your life that no other sacrifice or offering could ever do? How do you express your gratitude? Why is it important for God's people to gather together for prayer, conversation, worship, and sharing? Is that a priority for you? What happens if Christians choose to sin willfully? How do the promises of God through Jesus help you resist the temptation to sin?

Only the high priest could enter the inner room, and that was only once a year, bringing animal blood for the sins of the people and himself. These rituals symbolized that full access to God was not yet open. But Christ changed everything. He entered a greater, heavenly sanctuary and offered His own blood, not the blood of animals. His sacrifice brings eternal redemption and cleanses the believer's conscience. A covenant requires death, and His death established a new and better covenant. After ascending into the holy place of heaven, He will come again, having already dealt with sin, bringing final salvation to those eagerly waiting for Him. We see the beauty and seriousness of God's design through the Old Covenant. It taught us the weight of sin and the need for sacrifice. But now, through Jesus, we have something even greater. He entered a more perfect place, not made by human hands, and offered His own blood to secure eternal redemption. His sacrifice not only cleanses the outside; it reaches our hearts and clears our conscience. We are invited to serve God with full assurance, not because of our efforts but because of His mercy. Let us honor both the foundation that was laid and the fulfillment we now have. Let us live with gratitude, cleansed by Jesus' blood and anticipating the triumphant return of Jesus. Benevolent Father, thank You for sending Jesus as our perfect sacrifice and eternal high priest. He did not offer the blood of animals but gave His own life to secure our redemption. Through Him, we now have access to Your presence and the promise of eternal life. Cleanse our hearts and renew our minds so that we may serve You with sincerity and devotion. Help us to live in gratitude for the mercy we have received. May we never take lightly the cost of our salvation. Please accept our faith as we wait with hope for the return of our Savior. Thought Questions: How is Christ's high priesthood and sacrifice greater than the regulations of divine worship and the earthly sanctuary in the Old Law? What did the blood of Jesus Christ accomplish? How should it represent not only forgiveness but also a new and binding covenant? What is guaranteed to happen after your death? Earthly priests served in a copy and shadow of what exists in heaven, following patterns given to Moses. However, Jesus has received a superior ministry based on a better covenant established on better promises. The old covenant was not without faults, and God promised a new one. This new covenant is not written on stone but on hearts. God declared that He would be their God and they would be His people. Everyone would know Him, and He would remember their sins no more. With this new covenant, the old one becomes obsolete and is ready to vanish, replaced by something far greater. We are part of something greater than any system built by human hands. Jesus is not a distant figure in a temple made of stone. He is our high priest, seated with God, always interceding for us. We are not bound by the rules of the Old Law written on tablets. Instead, God has inscribed His truth on our hearts. We know Him personally, and He knows us completely. His promises are superior, and His mercy is genuine and life-changing. We are invited into a relationship founded on grace, where our sins are no longer remembered. Let us walk daily in His assurances, trusting that Christ is near us, and embracing the freedom of the new covenant with Jesus. Holy God, thank You for Your faithfulness through every covenant. We are grateful for the ways You have revealed Yourself, first through the law and now through Christ. You have written Your truth on our hearts and invited us into a closer relationship with You. Thank You for Jesus, our high priest who intercedes for us and makes the way to You clear and sure. Help us live with gratitude, not forgetting what came before but embracing the new, better, more excellent covenant in Christ. By Your abiding grace and the power of the blood, please remember our sins no more. Thought Questions: What makes Jesus the exalted, perfected, and most wonderful high priest of all time? How is He using this role for your benefit even today? In what ways is the new covenant in Christ superior to the Old Law and any law separate from Him? List a few incredible promises. What does it mean to say that the new covenant law “will be written on their hearts”? How do you know Christ's law is written on your heart?

He received a tenth from Abraham, showing that his role was greater than fleshly descendants who would come later. Since the old system could not bring lasting perfection, a new kind of priest was needed—one not based on ancestry but on the power of a life that cannot end. Jesus fills this role perfectly. His priesthood never changes, and He brings a better hope, opening the way to God. He is not limited by death like the others. He is able to save completely, always living to intercede for those who draw near to God through Him. His priesthood is perfect, permanent, and full of power. We have a priest in Jesus who will never step down, never be replaced, and never stop caring for us. He is not limited by time or weakness. He lives forever, so we are never alone. We do not have to depend on broken systems or our efforts to reach God. Jesus is our way. He intercedes for us constantly, even when we fail. That gives us hope and confidence. We can come to God boldly, knowing Jesus understands and stands with us. We are called to trust Him fully, not only in moments of strength but also in times of struggle. His priesthood gives us lasting peace because He is always present, always willing, and always able to save. Kind Lord, thank You for giving us Jesus, our eternal high priest. He never changes, never leaves, and never stops interceding for us. When we feel unworthy or distant, He stands in the gap and draws us near. His life is perfect, His power is unending, and His love is sure. We come to You with confidence, not because we are strong, but because He is faithful. Help us to trust in His priesthood and lean on His constant presence. Teach us to rest in the hope He brings and to walk with assurance, knowing we are held in His grace. Thought Questions: What is the significance of Melchizedek and Abraham in this chapter? If Abraham honored him, how much more so should you honor Jesus? What does it mean to say that Jesus is your high priest? TODAY'S DEVOTION: Let God be your navigator. Paul stands before a fearful crew, battered by storm and waves, and says, "I told you so." He points out that their journey would have been spared this damage and loss if they had only waited and listened to God's direction. It's best to let God chart the course, to trust in His wisdom rather than our own. But the message here is not just about regret–it's about hope. Even if we've gone our own way, even if we've navigated into a storm of our own making, God doesn't leave us stranded. It's never too late to let Him take the helm and correct our course. There may be consequences, there may be damage, but God will see us through and make us wiser for the journey. Paul urges courage: "None of you will lose your lives even though the ship will go down." When fear threatens to overwhelm, when hope feels lost, God's Word can steady us. Paul calls the men away from panic and despair, reminding them of the promises and presence of God—even in the eye of a storm. In the darkest moments, God feeds and strengthens us. Paul encourages the crew to eat, to receive nourishment, and sets an example by giving thanks and breaking bread. In this storm, God is present. He invites us to let Him meet us, to let Him be our sustenance, right in the middle of our troubles. Are you in a storm? Have you made choices that led you into darkness or uncertainty? God is waiting to be your navigator, even now, even in the eleventh hour. Let Him meet you where you are, let Him feed and strengthen you, let Him steer you safely home. No matter the storm, no matter how lost you feel, you can trust God to take the helm and guide you. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife and daughters and son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. Daily Prayer – October 27th, 2025 Almighty and ever loving God, you have brought us to the light of a new morning. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may walk this day in peace. Guard our steps from temptation, shield us from the weight of fear and shame, and lead us deeper into the joy of your presence through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. O Christ, light of the nations, shine in every place where shadows dwell. Call the scattered home, heal the wounds of division and gather all people into the communion of your grace. May the knowledge of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Amen. **And our Lord, make my hands ready for mercy. Make my eyes quick to see the hurting, Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. In today's episode, “October 25th, 2025,” your host and Bible Reading Coach, Hunter, guides us through a heartfelt journey in Scripture, exploring Job 16 and Acts 21-23. Together with listeners from around the world, we dive into the depths of discouragement found in Job's suffering and Paul's dangerous mission to Jerusalem. Hunter illuminates the resilience and faith shown by these biblical figures and encourages us to find comfort and hope in God's abiding love—especially when life gets hard. Through prayer, reflection, and the reminder of Christ's ever-present encouragement, this episode invites you to warm your heart by the fire of God's love and to carry that strength forward into your day. Let's gather, reflect, and be reminded: we are never alone. You are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jesus appears to Paul and tells him to be encouraged. Paul, you're going to be my witness here and in Rome. Paul had every reason to be discouraged. Many of his Jewish brothers who had come to Christ were looking with suspicion on him. They didn't quite understand his teaching regarding grace. Those who had rejected the way looked to kill him. He had been beaten and locked up. Once again, he was no doubt discouraged. And then there were those who warned and begged him all along the way not to go to Jerusalem. And all those ominous signs that were spoken to him were now coming to pass. It seemed to be playing out just as they said it would. It was at this lowest point, in the midst of all this discouragement, that Jesus appeared to Paul. Notice that Luke doesn't say that Paul saw Jesus in a vision. Jesus didn't send a holy hologram. Jesus shows up himself, inside the prison cell. And he told Paul to be encouraged. What an incredible moment that must have been for Paul. Imagine Jesus in the cell with you, talking to you, encouraging you. No doubt that moment sustained him for a long time. It encouraged him for many more days to come. Hard days. He had met with Jesus. So he knew that Jesus was somehow directing and overseeing all of this messed-up life that he was in the middle of. Some of you have experienced something like this. Maybe Jesus didn't physically show up with you in a prison cell, but at your lowest, when you were most discouraged, at that moment you experienced God's presence like none other. In the sweetest, most intimate of ways. You experienced an overwhelming sense that God was with you. The Holy Spirit has been given to us and he is called elsewhere in the Bible a counselor, a comforter and an encourager. He is someone who can encourage us when we are in the midst of our hardest moments. The Holy Spirit will shine the light on Jesus and shine the light of Jesus into your life. And when Jesus encourages us, we can hold on, we can keep going on, we can find strength. Jesus is in the room with us even now. Live encouraged. Be strengthened today by the abiding presence of Christ with you. That's the prayer that I have for my own heart. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. They are warned about the danger of falling away after receiving the truth. Those who abandon it are pictured as crucifying again the Son of God and are likened to worthless ground that drinks in the rain but produces only thorns and is cursed. Still, there is confidence of better things for those who continue in faithfulness. God is just and will not forget the work done in His name. Diligence and endurance are encouraged, imitating those who through faith and patience inherit what was promised. God's promises are certain, confirmed with an oath, giving believers strong encouragement. This hope is a secure and steady anchor for the soul, reaching beyond this life where the Savior has gone. We are encouraged to move forward in spiritual maturity, rather than remain in the early stages of faith. God calls us to a deepening commitment, characterized by perseverance, exploration, and love in action. We must take seriously the warning against falling away and instead be intentional and passionate about anchoring our hope in God. He sees our service and remembers our work, and His patience is just in assuring that our labor is not in vain. Our hope is not uncertain; it is rooted in the unchanging nature of God and the certainty of His promises. As we imitate those who patiently trusted God and received the promises, we live confidently and faithfully, fueled by enduring hope through Jesus Christ. Faithful Father, we thank You for challenging us to grow beyond the foundational principles of Christianity. We accept that challenge and ask for Your assistance. Please strengthen us so that we refuse to drift or become complacent. When trials tempt us to retreat, anchor our hearts in the hope founded in Jesus. Remind us that You are just and never forget the acts of love we perform in Your name. Guard us from unbelief; nourish our lives so they may yield the fruit of righteousness, not thorns. Keep us steadfast in Your unchanging oath and promise until our Savior returns.  Thought Questions: How do you continue to grow faith? We hear Paul in Acts 20 saying farewell to a church that was dear to him, to people he had spent years with, nurturing, living among, pouring out his life for. He tells them this is his final message, entrusting them not to rules or traditions or a complicated system of religious effort, but to the message of God's grace—grace that builds us up and gives us what we need. “And now I entrust you to God and the message of his grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those who have been set apart for himself.” This isn't just any message. It's the only message Paul gives. It's the good news that what we need most—life, forgiveness, inheritance, a way forward—comes to us through Christ alone. We so easily twist this message, turning our attention away from Jesus and onto ourselves—our striving, our trying, our religious observance—as if we could earn or construct what has already been given. But grace is not about trying harder, hoping we measure up or wondering if we've done enough. Grace is about resting, trusting, and participating in the life of Christ, knowing that he is enough to make us new, equip us for all of life, and bring us into the fullness of God's love. Paul's final charge is simple: build your life on this message. Trust that the work is done, that Christ is enough. Step into his grace, the only ground safe enough and strong enough for our joy, our hope, and our peace. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. That's a prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Almighty and ever loving God, you have brought us to the light of a new morning. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit that we may walk this day in peace. Guard our steps from temptation. God selected Jesus to fulfill this role on behalf of Christians. Although He is the Son, He learned obedience through suffering and became the perfect source of eternal salvation for those who follow Him. His priesthood is unique, connected to a higher order that reflects God's eternal plan. However, many who follow Him remain immature in their faith, still needing basic teachings rather than growing into a deeper understanding. Spiritual maturity does not occur accidentally; it comes through training, effort, and a heart that seeks wisdom. God desires His people to grow strong in faith, capable of discerning right from wrong and living in faithful obedience. Jesus profoundly understands our experiences in this life. He was chosen by God to be our high priest. He is neither distant nor distracted, but someone who truly comprehends our struggles. He felt pain, cried out in prayer, and learned obedience through true suffering. This makes Him the perfect one to bring us to God and guide us to salvation. We are not meant to remain stagnant in the basics of faith; we must grow, even when it is hard. We need to lean into God's word, allow it to shape us, and learn to discern right from wrong. Jesus walked this path first, and now He helps us in walking it too as we learn and teach the truth. Majestic God, thank You for giving us Jesus, our perfect high priest who understands our weakness. He did not run from suffering but faced it with obedience, showing us how to trust You even when it hurts. Help us to follow His example with humble hearts. Grow us in faith so that we do not remain in the same place but continue moving toward maturity. Teach us through Your word and train our hearts to discern what is right. We need Your strength and wisdom to become teachers of truth. Thank You for being patient with us as we grow.  Thought Questions: What makes Jesus a wonderful high priest? TODAY'S DEVOTION: Aquila and Priscilla and the Invitation to Rest Aquila and Priscilla went to help Apollos. And they want to help us too. They want to point us to our baptism into Christ. Apollos, we're told, only knew about the baptism of John, but Priscilla and Aquila point us beyond that—to our baptism into Christ, an even greater hope and assurance. This is the amazing, liberating news: that God has reconciled us to himself and drawn us into his life. Our identity is not wrapped up in our striving, our performance, or our attempts at holiness. Our identity is in Christ—deeply rooted in what He has done, not what we can do. Baptism, Priscilla and Aquila would remind us, signifies this new reality. Ours is not to strive after some unattainable perfection, but to rest in who Jesus says we are—trusting in His perfection, His holiness, and His love. In Christ, God assumed all of humanity into Himself, so that we might participate in the loving life that Jesus shares with the Father and the Spirit. This is what Priscilla and Aquila invited Apollos to discover: not just a message about repentance, but the ongoing, participatory life in Christ, where we rest, and our joy and strength is found. And that is the invitation laid before us today—to rest in what Jesus has done, to find our strength and joy there. Let us not be anxious or strive in our own strength, but remember that Jesus has included us, adopted us, and called us His own. That's a prayer I hold for my own soul. That's a prayer I have for my family—for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer I have for you: may we rest in our true identity in Christ, and live each day from that grace-filled place. May it be so. Israel had great assurances of rest but lost them due to a lack of faith, which led to disobedience and punishment from God. Their example remains powerful for believers, as a promised rest continues for the people of God. Disciples must diligently enter that rest by paying consistent attention to God's word. The word is living and active, penetrating the heart and revealing what does not belong. God sees all, even the depths of the heart. Fortunately, Jesus is a constant source of help on the path to rest, serving as a sympathetic high priest, so that the faithful can confidently approach the throne of grace for assistance in times of need.  We must take God's promise of rest seriously, not with a sense of anxiety, but with a deep awareness that we might miss it if we stop trusting Him. Like Israel, we know His voice and power, but we must still choose faith every day. It is easy to drift or harden our hearts when life feels overwhelming. That is why we must stay grounded in His word, allowing it to shape us and reveal what needs to change. Nothing is hidden from God, not even our secret doubts or fears. But we are not alone: Jesus knows our weaknesses. He invites us to come near, to find mercy, to find grace, and to keep walking with Him toward true rest. Worthy Lord, we come with humble hearts, thankful for the promise of heavenly rest that You freely offer to those who trust in You. We confess that at times we get distracted and allow things into our hearts that do not belong. Please cleanse our sins and make us holy and righteous in Your sight. Help us develop the discipline to be in Your word every day, knowing it is sufficient to touch our hearts and minds and direct us in Your ways. Please continue to bless us with the protection of Jesus, and give us grace in difficult times.   Thought Questions: Is it possible for someone saved by God to turn from Him in unbelief and lose heaven? Let's open the Scriptures together and rekindle our hearts by the fires of God's love. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Let's not make it difficult. That's the heartbeat from today's reading, echoing from the council at Jerusalem and resounding in the gospel itself. James spoke those words in Acts: let's not make it difficult for people to come to God. And yet, so often, our human nature, our systems, our religions, much like those early believers who wanted to add circumcision to the requirements of faith, try to put hurdles in the way. The question was, Who is in and who is out? Is it by human effort, tradition, or ritual? Is there some check box, some work or procedure, some pedigree that makes us right with God? But if we're not careful, the simple invitation of Christ becomes a complicated checklist. The apostles—Paul, Peter, James—they recognized how quickly we can move from freedom into burdens. But the truth, straight from the heart of God, is that nothing stands in the way of experiencing His love through Christ. God's life, His gracious gift, offered to all—Jew and Gentile, man and woman, young and old—is received by faith alone, not by effort, not by merit, not by works, not by anything we can add. The letter that went out from Jerusalem is a letter for us, too. It's a call back to simplicity, to childlike trust. “He made no distinction between us and them, for He cleansed their hearts through faith. We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.” That's the message. Don't let your heart or religion complicate what Christ has made simple. Even the things we cling to as saviors—our rules, our observance—cannot save us. Lay them down. Receive the gift: the righteousness that comes by faith in the finished work of Christ. Put away the extra burdens, the additions, the anxiety of performance. Trust Him. Rest in His love. Walk in the gift that's been given to you—full acceptance, full forgiveness, full belonging—in Christ alone. Live in the sufficiency of God's life in you, today and every day. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. It's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Peter was in a tough spot—arrested, imprisoned, and kept under heavy guard. It looked hopeless, but the church didn't give up. Instead, they prayed—earnestly, together. And God answered their prayers in a stunning way, sending an angel to set Peter free. Chains fell off, gates opened by themselves, and Peter walked right out of the prison, not even sure if it was real at first! Sometimes in life, we or our friends might face problems or things that seem impossible, just like Peter did. But God invites us to come to Him in prayer. He is strong, He is willing to help, and He is always with us. Sometimes the answer will surprise us, just like it did for Peter and the praying church. Sometimes God gives us strength to endure, or He sends help in ways we can't imagine. Psalm 46:1 says, God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. You're never alone—even when things seem dark or impossible. God's love and power can reach right into your situation. He can set you free, give you peace, and surround you with His care. So when you are in trouble, or when someone you know is facing something hard, turn to God. Ask for His help. Invite others to pray with you, too. Remember, our God is powerful and He loves you deeply. You are never out of His reach. That's a prayer I have for my own heart, for my family, and for you today: that we would remember to pray, to trust, and to lean on the God who rescues and provides. May it be so. He is compared to Moses, who was faithful in God's house; yet Jesus deserves greater honor because He is the Son over God's house, not merely a servant within it. Christians must not harden their hearts, like the Israelites who rebelled during their time in the wilderness. Due to their unbelief, they were unable to enter God's rest. The writer urges believers to encourage one another daily and to remain confident in their faith. Holding firmly to Christ until the end is evidence that they belong to Him. Faithfulness and obedience are essential for continuing in God's promises, and all who fail to hold fast to these principles will be subject to the wrath of God. Our walk with God requires constant attention and encouragement. We are not meant to follow Jesus alone. When doubt or discouragement creeps in, we need one another to speak truth and remind each other of God's faithfulness. Our hearts can easily grow hard if we stop listening to His voice. We must be careful not to let unbelief take root. Jesus is the glorious ruler over God's house, and we are His people if we stay committed and confident. Each day presents a chance to trust Him more. Let us lean into our faith, stay connected with our spiritual family, and encourage one another to remain faithful and obedient as we move toward the heavenly rest God has promised. Kind Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be our Apostle and High Priest. We acknowledge His authority, as He is worthy of all glory and honor. He is faithful as a Son over Your house, and we take great comfort in living within His dwelling. Please help us remain confident, soft-hearted, and filled with hope in all circumstances. Israel failed to trust You and missed out on Your promised rest. Learning from their mistakes, we pray for wisdom to support one another and to encourage each other to hold fast to Your assurances firmly until the end of time.  Thought Questions: What did Jesus do that makes Him worthy of more honor and glory than even Moses? How do you give Him the honor He so richly deserves? Why did Israel have to drift along in the wilderness for forty years? How do you protect your heart from the hardness and faithlessness of Israel? Do God's people need each other to help against unbelief and poor choices? All are invited, all are included, into the triune life of God. What does that look like in real life? This grace isn't earned by obedience to the law, personal piety, or virtue. It comes simply through Christ and what He has done. Jesus, God's Messiah, has offered Himself on the cross as humanity's answer—an answer to sin and death, an answer that gives us power to live this life today. The Holy Spirit fills us and empowers us. This message of grace has real, transformative power. It has the power to change your life, my life, every human life. But as powerful and good and gracious as this message is, it meets resistance. Other powers, other messages, seek to steer our lives. Often, we find ourselves colluding with those lesser powers, trying to survive in this broken world. But when we do, we survive as slaves—not as sons and daughters. True freedom comes only when we embrace grace, when we truly step into the life Christ offers. In Him, we're set free. Our eyes are opened—to see Him and to know who we are in Him. We're given power, by His Spirit, to live this life now in Him. But don't be fooled; the world resists grace. Paul and Barnabas remind the believers in Acts 14:22, “We must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.” This is a grace-resistant world. But it's only grace—the grace of Christ—that brings true life and transformation. It's only Him. Are you facing resistance? Don't be surprised. Draw courage from the fact that grace has come to you, has found you, has included you. Christ has offered His life for you. So rejoice now! Let this powerful message of Christ's grace meet you, comfort you, and confront every resistant place in your heart, so He can transform you completely, by His love. They are cautioned against drifting away from the truth and neglecting such a great salvation. God testified to this message through signs, wonders, miracles, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The chapter explains that God did not subject the world to come to angels but to Jesus, who was made for a little while lower than the angels. Through His suffering and death, He brought many to glory. Jesus became a human to defeat the power of death and to assist those who are tempted. Because He suffered, He is able to sympathize with our struggles and offer help as our merciful and faithful High Priest. Eternal salvation from God through Christ is incredible and must not be taken for granted. We have this saving truth from Jesus Himself and have seen the evidence of God's power confirming it. We cannot afford to drift or become careless in our faith. Jesus became like us, experiencing pain, fear, and death so that He could truly help us. Because He understands our struggles, we do not face them alone. We are not just saved from sin; we are brought into a family where Jesus unashamedly calls us His brothers and sisters. Having been sanctified to God through Him, let us give our allegiance to our elder brother Jesus, who is always present to comfort, strengthen, and guide us. Benevolent God, thank You for sending Your Son to share in our humanity and walk among us. You did not leave us in our weakness but provided a Savior who knows our pain and understands our struggles. Because of His suffering and death, we are set free from fear and given hope that does not fade. When we feel uncertain or weary, remind us that You and Your Son are near and care deeply. Help us listen closely to Your Word and remain faithful to Your glorious Son. We trust in Jesus Christ, our faithful high priest and brother.  Thought Questions: What makes the gospel of Jesus “so great a salvation” to you? Has it been proven, and what happens if you neglect it after so much testimony? Why did Jesus need to come to earth and suffer in the flesh for us? If He endured such to sanctify you, how should you be showing gratitude? If you are a child of God and Jesus is your brother, how does that affect your hope and confidence as you seek to live the rest of your life in faith?

TODAY'S DEVOTION: It begins with prayer and rest. When Peter was imprisoned, waiting for what looked like certain execution, the church prayed, and Peter slept. These were not the actions of people relying on their own cleverness or strength, but the actions of people whose hope rested in God alone. “Get up, get dressed, grab your coat, and follow me”—those words from the angel came to Peter in the darkest of circumstances, reminding him that the doors only God can open are the ones that truly set us free. The miracle in this story isn't just the escape, but the way it happens—through prayer, through rest, and through simple obedience. No cunning required, no frantic schemes, just God's gracious intervention. That's our invitation too: to rest in God, to pray, to make ourselves available, and to be poised to participate when the path ahead unfolds—in his time, in his way. Prayer acknowledges God's goodness. Rest is the disposition of a heart that knows God can and will do what we cannot. And when the door opens, we walk forward in faith, trusting in his purposes for us. Today, as you face your circumstances, remember: Only God is able. Yours is to pray and to rest, and when he calls, to get up and go. The miracle ahead is Christ in you—the hope of glory. That's my prayer for myself, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And it's my prayer for you. May we walk forward into God's purposes, rested, prayerful, and ready. May it be so. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In the past, God spoke through prophets, but now He has spoken through His Son, the heir of all things and the creator of the universe. Jesus reflects the glory of God and represents His exact nature. He sustains all things by His power and has made purification for sins. After doing so, He sat at the right hand of the majesty in heaven. This chapter explains that Jesus is superior to angels, receiving a greater name and position. God never addressed an angel as His Son, nor told any angel to sit at His right hand. Angels are servants of God and His people, while the Son reigns in glory over all. This establishes the divine authority and eternal kingship of Jesus Christ. Our Savior is not just a messenger or a prophet; He is the very Son of God, the exact imprint of the Father's nature. As we go through life, we find strength in knowing that the One who upholds the universe by His word is also holding us. When we feel uncertain, we remember that Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, reigning with power and love. We are not following empty tradition; we are following the risen and exalted Son. Let us listen closely to Him, trust in His authority, and live with the confidence that He is greater than any challenge and helps us through His power and the angels sent to minister to us. Almighty Lord, we come before You in awe of who Jesus is. He is more than a teacher and prophet; He is Your Son, radiant with Your glory and speaking with divine authority. Thank You for sending Him to cleanse us from sin and to sit at Your right hand in power as our protector and king. We feel humbled knowing He holds everything together yet still cares for each of us. Help us to see Him clearly, to listen when He speaks, and to walk in the confidence that He is above all.
