Why is the Jerusalem Council so significant? What is required for salvation? In this episode, Emma Dotter discusses Acts 15:1-35 and the influence of the Jerusalem Council. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey through the pages of Scripture together. Today is June 25th, day 177 of our reading, and your host Hunter will be guiding us through the book of Joel, chapters one through three, and into 2 Timothy chapter 1. In this episode, we witness vivid images of devastation and restoration in Joel, the outpouring of God's spirit, and a powerful reminder from Paul to fan into flame the gift of faith. Alongside scripture reading, Hunter offers prayer, reflection, and encouragement to tend to the fire of God's presence in our lives each day. So, open your heart and let's receive together the words of life from the living Word. TODAY'S DEVOTION: If you want to cook, you're going to need some fire. If you're going to eat, you're going to need some heat. Every day you must fan into flame that gift, that fire that God has ignited in your life. That's what Paul is telling Timothy here. He says, this is why I remind you. Apparently, he's told him this before. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. The fire of God's abiding presence in us illuminates our path. It gives us power to live out our purpose. Paul tells Timothy to let it burn. Let it light the path. Fan that into flame. Do all that is necessary to tend to that fire within you, then see what God will do. The same is true for us. God has given us a gift. It's his abiding presence in us. There's a specific purpose that he has uniquely gifted each of us for. And it's the Spirit's fire that will illuminate that path for us and empower us to participate with God and live out our purpose even in this day. As you abide in him and walk with him and trust him, the fire of God's presence—his Spirit abiding in you—will show you what's required of you. Ask him to make you diligent to tend to that fire of life, his life in you. May you fulfill all of his purposes for you. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the June 24th episode of the Daily Radio Bible! Join Hunter, your Bible reading coach, as we journey together through the pages of scripture on day 176 of our year-long adventure. Today, we'll explore gripping stories from 2 Kings 11–12, 2 Chronicles 24, and 1 Timothy 6—witnessing the dramatic rise of young King Joash, the hidden works of God behind seemingly unchanging evil, and the call to live out true godliness and contentment. Along the way, Hunter encourages us to shed transactional views of God and embrace the unwavering truth that we are loved, full stop. Grab your Bible, prepare your heart, and let's warm ourselves by the fires of God's love together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God is at work, even when evil wears the crown. Seven years. That's how long Athaliah, the evil queen, reigned—a time marked by violence, heartbreak, and darkness. She took the throne through bloodshed, even murdering her own grandchildren. Her story reminds us of how deeply entrenched evil can seem, wearing the crown and calling the shots for years on end. She was a daughter of Ahab and Jezebel, a legacy of darkness, and for seven years, all must have seemed lost. But as we read in the story of Joash, we discover that things are not always as they seem and they will not always remain as they are. Hidden away, out of sight, within the quiet places of the temple, was hope—a child, a son, preserved by God's providence. God's kingdom was advancing even when no one could see it, even when hopelessness filled the air. At just the right time, Joash was revealed and crowned, the entrenched evil uprooted, and hope restored to the people. This is a picture—a compelling, even if incomplete, foreshadowing—of what God is doing not just in the pages of ancient scripture, but in our own stories. Behind the scenes, beneath the surface, God is always at work. Sometimes it feels as if evil is too strong, too established, and nothing will ever change. But the true King—God's own Son, Jesus—is waiting for the perfect moment to be revealed in power and glory. Unlike Joash, Jesus does not falter. He does not fail. He is accomplishing all that the Father has given him to do, and he will reign forever. Take hope: there is a real King alive, reigning, and even now, God's spirit is preparing hearts, overturning evil's claims, and bringing in his eternal kingdom. Hold on—don't despair when the world's headlines or your life's hardships make it seem otherwise. Trust: your king is coming. That's the good news for us. Behind the tangled mess of our circumstances, behind every "crown" that evil seems to put on, God is present. He is faithful, bringing light in the darkness and hope in the silence. Let us live with that hope. Let us wait on the Lord, trusting that at just the right time, he reveals his salvation. May today you sense—beyond what you see or feel—the steady, unstoppable advance of God's kingdom in and through you. That is my prayer for my soul today, for my family, and for you. May we hold fast to this hope, and may it change how we wait, how we watch, and how we worship. Amen. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for June 23rd. On today's episode, we journey through powerful and turbulent moments in Israel's history, reading from 2 Kings 10, 2 Chronicles 22 and 23, and 1 Timothy 5. We'll witness the violent zeal of Jehu as he wipes out Baal worship, the rise of young King Joash in Judah through courage and faith, and receive practical teachings from Paul on caring for widows and elders in the early church. Together, we'll reflect on the shortcomings of human zeal compared to the peace, righteousness, and new beginnings offered through God's radical love in Christ. As we move through scripture and prayer, may you be encouraged to rest in the results of God's zeal, open your heart to his presence, and walk in his joy today. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jehu's devotion was radical and uncompromising—a devotion that expressed itself in violence and zeal. He set out to rid Israel of BAAL worship, and the results were undeniable: temples destroyed, idols shattered, and those loyal to BAAL swept away. Yet that same zeal left the streets soaked in blood and families in ruins. This kind of zealous effort certainly gets results, but it's not the result God ultimately wants for us. It's not peace. It's not the true rightness that our hearts are hungry for. The story reminds us that even the most determined human effort—no matter how passionate or sincere—can only go so far. Human zeal might shake up kingdoms, but it can't bring about the peace our souls crave. Violence, holy war, radical striving—none of these will yield what we truly need. Our greatest need is not for more striving but for deep, lasting peace with God, for joy and for standing right before him. Those are gifts only one can give. There is only One whose zeal brings what humanity needs. And the results are not the shedding of others' blood, but in his own—God himself, through Jesus, giving his life in co-suffering, self-giving love for this broken world, for us. Jehu is a flawed mirror—a shadow pointing forward to a greater zeal, a purer power. In Christ, we see the true answer to the question of what brings redemption. Isaiah told us: "For a child is born, a son is given… and the government will rest on his shoulders… the zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this." It's God's zeal—not ours, not Jehu's, not anyone else's—that wins the right results in our lives and this world. God's passion in Christ has given us a new beginning, true freedom, and real joy. Everything that needs to be accomplished for us has already been done by Jesus. No one else will do. No other zeal is enough. Let us rest in the results of his zeal. Let us put down the burden of striving to be enough or do enough. Instead, may we abide in what Christ has finished for us—the peace, the standing, the welcome, and new life his love has won. That's the prayer I'm praying today for my own heart, for my family, and for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible on this 22nd day of June. I'm Heather, and today we continue our journey through the Scriptures on day 173, gathering with listeners from around the world to seek Jesus—the source of our life—through God's Word. In this episode, we'll read from 2 Kings 8-9, 2 Chronicles 21, and 1 Timothy 4, asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate the text and reorient our hearts and minds toward God's love and truth. Join us as we dive into the stories of Elisha, the rise and fall of kings, and Paul's instructions to Timothy on focusing our lives and ministry on Christ. As always, we'll close with prayer and reflection, drawing strength for the day ahead and remembering that you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Good work requires good focus. It's so easy for us to focus on the wrong things, especially in these troubled times we live in. We can strain and fuss, argue, and fight over things that don't really matter. But the good work of a servant requires focusing on the right things—and working hard at them. That's what Paul tells Timothy. He gives clear direction: focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, on encouraging the believers, and teaching them. Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress. Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right, for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we gather each day to warm our hearts by the fires of God's love and journey together through the pages of Scripture. On this 21st day of June, Hunter, your Bible Reading Coach, guides us through powerful passages in 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles, and 1 Timothy. In today's episode, we'll witness miraculous moments from the stories of Elisha, see the faith and prayers of King Jehoshaphat lead to God's deliverance, and hear the New Testament call to faithful leadership and mystery in Christ. Join Hunter as he helps us see how faith opens our eyes to the unseen goodness of God, welcomes both those near and far, and challenges us to live lives marked by love, peace, and gratitude. Let's turn our hearts together to today's reading, prayer, and reflection. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The life of faith is a mystery. Sometimes, all we can see is what's right before us—the armies that surround us, the troubles that besiege us, the hopelessness that presses in. But faith is not limited by our circumstances or by what our eyes can see. In 2 Kings 6, Elisha and his servant are faced with a terrifying sight: they are completely surrounded by a great army. The servant can only see defeat and death. Yet Elisha moves within a deeper mystery—a mystery that faith reveals. Elisha prays that his servant's eyes might be opened, and the Lord answers. Suddenly, the servant sees the hills filled with horses and chariots of fire. What was invisible becomes visible. God was present and fighting for them all along. That is the mystery of faith: there is always more going on than we know. God is at work in the hidden places, in the things we cannot yet see. And the story grows even more mysterious: God does not destroy the enemy army. Instead, those who came in blindness and hostility are led into the very heart of their enemy's city—not to be destroyed, but to be given a feast. A table is set for them, and they are sent away in peace. Those once far off, now are brought near; those blind are given sight. This is the mystery we see fully revealed in Jesus. In Christ, God opens our eyes—those who are near and far, friend and enemy—to see his love, his peace, his welcoming banquet. In Jesus, the perfect human life is lived before us. He loves God with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength, and he loves his neighbor, even when the neighbor is an enemy. For the first time, we see this love embodied in its fullness. God's grace is for all. He opens blind eyes, he welcomes the stranger, he prepares a banquet for those who don't deserve it. The mystery of our faith is that God is so good, so loving, so gracious—to you, to me, and to the world. May our own eyes be opened to this mystery today. May we see God's hand at work beyond our circumstances, and may we learn to love as he loves—near and far, friend and enemy. That's a prayer I have for myself, for my family, and for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for June 20th. On today's episode, the conversation focused on our continued journey through the Scriptures, reading from 2 Kings 4-5, Psalm 83, and 1 Timothy 2. Several points were raised, including the miraculous stories of Elisha—from the widow's jar of oil to the resurrection of the Shunammite's son and the healing of Naaman's leprosy—revealing God's compassion and power. The discussion explored the deeper meaning of these miracles as signs pointing to the ultimate mediator, Christ Jesus, who reconciles God and humanity. A key theme that emerged was the invitation to trust in God's provision and redemption, pray for all people, and embrace a life marked by gratitude and faith. The episode concludes with prayers for peace, guidance, and a reminder of God's unending love. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There's only one man who can make things right. The woman of Shunam knew this in her deepest places. She knew she needed God's man—Gehazi or anyone else simply would not do. She believed that somehow this one man could bring her boy back to life, could make things right in the face of loss and despair. Elisha goes to the boy, and in a strange, intimate act, lies upon him—face to face, hand to hand, eye to eye. It's as if the man of God is absorbing the boy's death into himself, pouring life back where there was none. In this moment, we catch a foreshadowing of another Man who would one day absorb death itself—not just for one boy, but for the whole world. This Man, Christ Jesus, would take on sin, death, and the grave, and through his own sacrifice, defeat death and pull us close to himself—face to face, hand to hand, eye to eye. God has come in the flesh. He has come to rescue us from death and draw us into life eternal. Jesus—the prophet of prophets, the Lamb of God, the Savior of the world—he alone can make things right in us, for us, and through us. Paul put it plainly: "For there is one God and one mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone." Death has been defeated. Through Christ, true life is offered. In him, we stand face to face with the one who brings us out of death and into resurrection life, even now. May God open our eyes today to see it—to see him, to trust him, and to live in the power and joy of his resurrected presence. That's a prayer for my own soul. That's a prayer for my family, for my wife and my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for June 19th. Join your Bible reading coach, Hunter, as we journey through 2 Kings 1–3, Psalm 82, and 1 Timothy 1. Today's episode brings us dramatic accounts of prophets, kings, and the power of God's word—from Elijah's fiery confrontations to Elisha's miracles and Paul's letter encouraging faith and love over legalism. As we listen, reflect, and pray together, we're reminded not to miss the heart of the gospel: a life transformed by love, a clean conscience, and genuine faith. Settle in for a time of scripture, reflection, and gratitude as we allow God's living word to direct our hearts. TODAY'S DE TODAY'S DEVOTION: Don't Miss the Point We are so prone to miss the point when we misapply the law. We think that being right with God will come from getting all the rules just so, or being an expert in Scripture, but that can lead us down a path of pride and arrogance—or to self-loathing and despair. When we try to justify ourselves by the law, we find ourselves engaged in a colossal exercise in missing the point. Paul put it clearly to Timothy: "Some people have missed the whole point. They have turned away from these things and spend their time in meaningless discussions." The simple, profound gospel received by faith is what fills our hearts with love, cleanses our conscience of guilt, and makes us new. Paul reminds Timothy of this central truth: the purpose of this whole instruction—the point—is that believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. This is the real deal. This is the work that God longs to do in us as His Spirit abides in His people: a new heart, a clean conscience, a new life. That's a gift. It's not something to be achieved by mastering the law; the change comes from the Master who abides in us. Through His Spirit, God is reclaiming what was lost. Be certain of this: the power and beauty of the gospel isn't about us mastering the law, but letting the Master master us. When we surrender our hearts, when we let God be God within us, living in the reality of "Christ in you," we are far less likely to miss the love, generosity, and peace that we long for. That life will be yours—and when it is, you'll have something beautiful to offer the world. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. VOTION: TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for June 18th. Join Hunter as we continue our journey through the scriptures on day 170, exploring 1 Kings 22, 2 Chronicles 18 and 19, and Colossians 4. Today, we'll witness the steadfast light of prophets like Micaiah standing for truth in dark times, reflect on our calling to shine God's light in the world, and lift our hearts together in prayer. Whether you're starting your day or seeking some encouragement, come along as we let the Bible point us to the living Word who brings us life. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Micaiah, the truth-speaking prophet, is a light. In the face of deceit and dark kingdoms and dark prophets, he is a light. God always has his lights. Those who speak the truth. Micaiah is one of them. God always has his lights because he is the Father of lights. That's what James tells us. He has men and women who are faithful to shine their light in the darkness and to speak the truth for the Lord, regardless of the results. Paul was one of these lights too. Paul desired to shine the truth of the Gospel of Christ into the darkness. Paul knew how hard it could be. In fact, he wrote Colossians while he was in chains, and it only got worse from there. Yet he is still determined to shine the light. But he asked his friends for prayer. He says, pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should. He knows it's going to be hard, but he also knows that he is a child of the light and he's called to shine in the darkness. God, the Father of lights, is not just the Father of prophets and apostles like Paul and Micaiah. He's also the Father of ordinary people like you and me. And like those mentioned at the end of today's reading—these are names of people that rarely get a second thought. But they too are born into the light of our Father. And they are being faithful to carry out the ministry that their Father God has given to them. To Archippus, Paul says, be sure to carry out the ministry the Lord has given you. There were other people's names like Demas, Epaphras, Archippus, Tycheus, Nympha, Onesimus, and people like you and me with names like Craig, Rebecca, Tom, Mary Ellen, Luz. All are lights born of the Father. All of us have a ministry to shine his bright light in this dark world. Paul asked for prayer: Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should. He also exhorts others to carry out the ministry that God has given them. And the Father has shone the light of Christ into you. You have been given the light of the world. Allow him to bear light in your heart. Do what God has called you to do in his strength, reflecting back to him the glory that is only his. And let us all together learn what it is to shine our lights. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible. On this 17th day of June, Hunter guides us through our ongoing journey in scripture, reading from 1 Kings 20-21, 2 Chronicles 17, and Colossians 3. In today's episode, witness the dramatic confrontations between kings, the consequences of choices, and the hope found in God's steadfast love. Hunter reflects on the astounding truth that God shows no favoritism—reminding us that all are loved and included in Christ. Join us for wisdom, prayer, and a renewed understanding that you are cherished by God, no strings attached. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God has no favorites. I have three daughters, and every once in a while, someone will ask me, "Hunter, who's your favorite?" And I have to chuckle, because my mind doesn't even go there. I don't think in terms of one daughter being favored over another—they're all my kids, all my girls, and I love them dearly. I have no favorites. And we're told that God, too, has no favorites. We are all his children. It doesn't matter whether we're Abigail, Magdalene, Eden, Hunter, Heather—or you—it doesn't matter. Whether we are Jew or Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave or free, it doesn't matter. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. He is the favored one, and our lives are hidden in his. That's what Paul says. Our real life is hidden with God in Christ, the favored one. He has no favorites because we are all favored. We are all loved. We have been included. God has reconciled the whole world to himself, Paul says. He has no favorites because we are all loved by him. And that, my friend, is such good news. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will see who I am in Christ: favored and loved. That's a prayer I have for my family, too, for my daughters, for my wife, and for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. How does Jesus fulfill God's promise to David? Why does Paul highlight this? In this episode, Emma Dotter unpacks Paul's sermon in Acts 13:13-52, addressing how Jesus fulfilled God's promises to King David. Together, draw connections between this passage and 2 Samuel 7 to see how Jesus was the ultimate fulfillment of the Davidic covenant—the true promised Messiah and King—and why it was so important for Paul to draw this conclusion for his audience at the synagogue in Antioch. // ADDITIONAL VERSES MENTIONED: 2 Samuel 7: 16 // RELATED JOIN THE JOURNEY EPISODES:  S4:268 Acts 12-14 (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s4-268-acts-12-14/id1600151923?i=1000735847137)  // WHAT IS JOIN THE JOURNEY? Join The Journey is a realistic daily Bible reading plan that helps followers of Jesus at Watermark Community Church and beyond enjoy abiding in Jesus together. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible on this 16th day of June, Day 167 in our journey through the Scriptures. I'm Hunter, your Bible reading coach, and today we open our hearts together as we read through First Kings chapters 17 to 19 and Colossians chapter 2. As we witness Elijah's dramatic confrontation on Mount Carmel and Paul's stirring reminder to hold fast to Christ, we'll reflect on what it means to listen for God's voice in a noisy world. Join us as we learn to be still, to receive, and to know that the God who answers is with us—calling us to trust, to abide, and to walk in His peace. Let's begin today's journey with open ears and expectant hearts. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God answers, but are we listening? The contest was to see which God would answer with fire. And today's reading shows us the results. Amidst all the rattle and hum and the fits and fury, they just couldn't conjure up the results that our hearts are calling for—the hope, the light, the peace, the victory that we were frankly made for. The writers made it clear: some gods do not answer, but there is a God who does. On top of Mount Carmel today, there is a monastery in the Carmelite order. One of the unique things about some of the communities of the Carmelite order is that they take a vow of silence. And maybe it's a fitting thought that there, on the top of Mount Carmel today, there are people who are in prayer and who are being silent. They're being silent not because there's nothing to hear or listen to. They're being silent for that very reason—because there is something to hear. There is a God. And our God speaks. He has an answer for our souls, an answer for the questions of our heart, an answer to our burden and our brokenness. There is a God who answers, and he doesn't require our fits and our fury. He doesn't need us to conjure up anything. Ours is to be still and know, to be still and listen to the God who's present, the one who's with us, the one who is victorious—the God who answers. The prayer of my own soul today is that I will learn to listen, that I'll learn to quiet my heart and trust. That I'll learn that he is here with me even now. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family. That's the prayer that I have for you. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for June 15th. I'm Heather, and today marks day 166 in our journey through the Scriptures. Together, we'll explore First Kings 16, 2 Chronicles 15 and 16, and Colossians chapter 1—reminding ourselves that the Scriptures point us to Jesus, the source of our life. We'll seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to open our hearts, warm ourselves around the fire of God's love, and discover anew how Christ's victory makes us blameless and reconciled before God. Settle in as we read, reflect, and pray—joining believers from around the world in drawing closer to Christ and finding strength in His joy. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God has finally found what He's looking for. The Scriptures tell us, "The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him." We witness this searching again and again in the stories of the kings of Israel and Judah, kings like Asa, Baasha, and Omri. But even amongst all these leaders, God does not find what His heart desires. It isn't you. It isn't me. It isn't any of the kings or prophets. There is only one in whom the eyes of the Father rest—His Son. When the Father sees the Son, He says, "This is my Son, whom I love. With him I am well pleased." God finds in Jesus the fullness of what He's sought from the beginning. Here is the miracle and the message of the gospel: by God's grace, you are now found in the Son, and God finds in you what He is looking for. Through Christ's reconciling work on the cross, you now stand before God without fault—holy and blameless. Not by your own striving or record, but by the finished work and victorious life of Christ. The cross has accomplished more than we can even imagine. Paul tells us that Christ has reconciled all things; that God, in Christ, has brought you into His own presence. The life, the forgiveness, the joy, and the assurance you need—they are yours because your true life is now hidden with God in Christ. This is the secret: Christ lives in you. This is your assurance, your glory, your hope. So abide in Him today. Let this good news warm your heart, cast away your doubt, and fill you with the joy and peace He has won for you. God has found what He's looking for—in His Son, and by grace, in you. May you know this, rest in it, and let the life of Christ flourish in you, this day and always.

TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for June 14th! On this 166th day of our journey through the Scriptures, Hunter invites us to spend some time together in God's Word, letting it guide our hearts to the living Word—Jesus. Today's readings take us through the dramatic reigns of kings in 1 Kings 15, 2 Chronicles 13 and 14, and the encouraging words of Philippians 4. We'll witness the stories of Abijah and Asa, kings who faced overwhelming odds yet found victory by trusting in God, and we'll receive a timely reminder from Philippians to pray instead of worry, fixing our minds on what is true and lovely. As we begin this day, may we remember that God is always with us—helping the powerless against the mighty—and that his peace will guard our hearts no matter our circumstances. Let's get started! TODAY'S DEVOTION: God helps the powerless against the mighty. In today's readings, we meet King Asa crying out to the Lord his God, knowing the odds were stacked high against him. Asa had learned something valuable from his father, Abijah. When Asa was just a boy, his father had faced the army of Israel with his forces outnumbered two to one. Eight hundred thousand troops from Israel stood against Abijah's four hundred thousand. But Abijah did not shrink back—he called on the name of the Lord, and God gave him victory. Now the story comes full circle. Asa, facing overwhelming odds—this time against a million-man Ethiopian army—remembers what his father knew. Asa does what his father did: he cries out to God. And once again, God hears and answers, delivering his people and defeating their enemies 15:13. The lesson is unmistakable. God faithfully helps the powerless against the mighty. Regardless of how dire the circumstances, even when you are outnumbered, when everything appears stacked against you, you are not called to fear, nor are you called to surrender. Instead, you are invited into trust. As we are reminded today in Philippians, we are not to worry about anything, but instead to pray about everything with thanksgiving and let God's peace guard our hearts and minds 16:18. This persistence in trust, this posture of prayer, and this experience of peace are the gifts of our God who fights for us. Let us remember well the lesson that Asa learned from his father and that the Scriptures impress upon us today: God is for us. He is with us. He is the God who helps the powerless against the mighty, who wins our victories and brings overwhelming triumph. That's my prayer for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. Is it on yourself, your virtues and the good things you've done that you think ought to impress God? It was for Paul—he talks about it in our reading today. Or is your focus on the past, trying to outrun or compensate for things done or left undone? It's easy to let our eyes rest on the wrong things and miss what God is doing for us right now: the peace, the strength, the joy we have in Him, right now. Paul calls us to something different. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible. It's June 12th, day 164 of our journey through the Scriptures. I'm Hunter, your Bible reading coach, here to walk with you through another day in God's word. Today's passages take us through the dramatic division of the kingdom in 1 Kings 12 and 2 Chronicles 10-11, where contrasting counsel leads to national upheaval and new beginnings. We'll also reflect on the powerful call to unity and humility found in Philippians 2—reminding us to hold firmly to the word of life and to let go of anything that brings despair or fear. After our reading, we'll be invited to prayer, gratitude, and reflection on God's love and promises, with reminders that we are forgiven, we are loved, and we belong to Him. So settle in, open your heart, and let's let the Scriptures point us to the living Word who brings life in abundance. TODAY'S DEVOTION: What words are you holding on to? Are they bringing you life today? Do they inspire hope and love, or do they stir up despair, anxiety, and self-protection? God invites you to hold firmly to the word of life—but for that to happen, you may need to let go of other words. Some words keep us captive and afraid, words spoken over us perhaps by someone we love, words that define or limit us. Maybe it's time you let go of those words—those words that have trapped you—because God has far better words for you. He wants you to reach out and receive words like "forgiven," "loved," "daughter," "son." The gospel—the good news of Christ—is the word we are to hold firmly to. We are invited to cling with all our might to his good word, which assures us that even though we are broken and bruised, and even though we have broken and bruised others, our champion, Jesus, has come to give us his word and his life. He speaks it over us to transform, heal, and restore us right here and right now. So what words are you holding on to? Hold firmly to the words of life. You are forgiven. You are loved. You are his daughter. You are his son. Let the other words go, and today, reach out to him—the only one who has the words of life. Hear, receive, and hold firmly to the gospel—the good news. Hold firmly to him. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. That's a prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible for June 11th! Join Hunter as we journey through day 163 of our Bible reading plan, exploring the poetic depths of Song of Solomon chapters 5 through 8 and the heartfelt encouragements of Philippians chapter 1. Today's episode invites you into scripture, prayer, and reflection on God's faithfulness in the midst of life's struggles. Be reminded of Christ's transforming love, the strength found in joy, and the power of community—because no matter what you're facing, you are loved. Grab your Bible, settle in, and let's encounter God's Word together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God meets us in the midst of our struggle. Life, as Paul writes, is filled with hardship, disappointments, and suffering. But the good news, the hope, is that God chooses to meet us exactly there—in the midst of it. Paul reminds us, "We are in this struggle together" 13:26. He doesn't gloss over his own trials or pretend that following Christ makes everything easy. Instead, he speaks of a God who faithfully continues his work in us, no matter our circumstances. You and I are not alone. God is with us, working within our lives, shaping our hearts, even when we can't see it or feel it. This presence, this assurance—God meeting us, encouraging us, loving us—transforms our lives. It enables us to live as citizens of heaven, right in the middle of our everyday challenges 14:13. Paul's confidence is rooted in this truth: "God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns" 14:22. In other words, the work is not up to us alone. God is both the author and the finisher. He started this journey in you, and he won't abandon it. It is his delight to complete what he began, no matter what life throws your way 14:44. This reality produces joy, even for Paul as he sits in prison. Joy rooted not in circumstances, but in Christ's presence within. "May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation, the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ" 15:11. Even now, God transforms us, produces his life in us, and fills us with a joy that cannot be taken away. So let God's Spirit meet you today, right where you are—amid struggle, disappointment, or hope. Let God's abiding presence in you be your joy and your strength. You are loved, in the midst of it. Christ is in you 15:46. That's my prayer—for my own soul, for my family, and for you. May we see and welcome this love, knowing God is actively at work in the midst of our lives.

What does it mean to be “sent”? How was the Holy Spirit the one who sent Saul and Barnabas? In this episode, Emma Dotter unpacks what it means to be sent by the Holy Spirit and how we see this in the example of Saul and Barnabas as they embark on their first missionary journey in Acts 13:1-12. Then, Emma draws a connection between the passage and how we see the Holy Spirit send missionaries today, sharing about a missionary family from Watermark. // RELATED JOIN THE JOURNEY EPISODES:  S4:268 Acts 12-14 (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s4-268-acts-12-14/id1600151923?i=1000735847137)  // WHAT IS JOIN THE JOURNEY? Join The Journey is a realistic daily Bible reading plan that helps followers of Jesus at Watermark Community Church and beyond enjoy abiding in Jesus together. TODAY'S EPISODE: The conversation focused on guiding listeners through daily Bible readings, beginning with Song of Solomon chapters 1 through 4 and concluding with Ephesians chapter 6. A key theme that emerged was the enduring love and strength that comes from God, as reflected both in the poetic expressions of the Song of Solomon and in Paul's admonitions to the Ephesians. The discussion explored the spiritual armor provided by God and the call to prayer, love, and faithful living. Several points were raised, including encouragement to "be strong" by remembering one's identity as beloved by God, and an invitation to join in prayers for peace, mercy, and readiness to serve. The episode wrapped up with reminders of God's constant presence and love, encouraging listeners to carry this truth into their daily lives. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Be strong. Be loved. The strength that you need to resist the enemy's fiery attacks comes from God. It's not something you muster up on your own. All the armor—the helmet, the shield, the shoes, the sword, the breastplate—these are gifts, lovingly given by God himself. Each piece is handed to you not as a burden but as a grace, a protection, an act of love from the one who knows your battles and has already made provision for your victory. So put on that loving armor and be strong, not in your own might, but in the strength of God. Paul urges us to be strong, yet his final words remind us that it is only in being loved that we find that strength. Peace, love, and faithfulness flow from the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ to all who belong to him. So again, be strong—but understand that your strength comes by being beloved. How do we walk in this strength? By letting ourselves rest in the embrace of the eternal grace that is already ours. By wearing the armor he has given, not as a heavy weight, but as a daily reminder that you are shielded, protected, and cherished. The helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel, the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit—all these are reminders of his unwavering love for you. You can be strong because you are loved. Let that truth sink deep—this is where your strength is rooted. Draw it up from the depths of God's abiding love, and let it sustain you in every challenge, every temptation, every moment of doubt. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. It's a prayer for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And it is my prayer for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity.
