Today, we continue our journey through the Scriptures, reading from 2 Kings 20, Isaiah 38 and 39, Psalm 75, and 1 Peter 2. Together, we'll open our hearts to receive from the God who is love, reflect on the nature of lasting change in our lives, the importance of craving spiritual nourishment, and lift our voices in prayer for ourselves, our families, and our world. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's draw near to God's Word as we discover his faithfulness and mercy afresh. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Change requires work. Change of appetites, change of habits. Changing the things we turn to instead of turning from. It's going to take some work, and that's going to take some time. You might be sick and tired of your way of doing things. Maybe you're just exhausted with yourself. If so, Peter tells us right here that getting rid of the things you want to change isn't going to be enough. If we just remove it, when the troubles come, when we're stressed out, we're going to go right back to where we've been and do the things we've done before. No, simply stopping what you're doing doesn't bring about the change that you want. It's not just stopping, no. It will also require starting to crave something new. The answer is never just to get rid of the old, to sweep the cupboards of all the junk food. No. You've got to change your diet and begin craving something altogether different: the pure spiritual milk of God's Word. It requires a total change of diet. We must replace it and not just remove it. We need to assume a childlike heart and crave the pure spiritual milk of the Word. The Word is Christ. To draw from Christ our nourishment, our comfort, our life. Peter says become like a baby in that regard—totally dependent upon him. Peter says if we do that, we will begin to experience change, real change, from the inside out. So let's do that. Let's continue to show up here each and every day to train our souls, to partake of God's food, his milk, his bread, to be dependent upon him for our very breath. It's not just about getting rid of things—it's about him, finding our life in him, learning something new altogether as we come to him, the source of our true nourishment and life. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... We'll reflect on finding strength amid trials and discover encouragement from Peter's letter, reminding us that even in challenging seasons, joy and the unshakable love of God await all who trust in Him. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There are trials ahead, but there is strength for the trials, and joy beyond it. reflects on the certainty that we all face hard times—none are exempt, as life brings us troubles, losses, even seasons when God's presence feels distant or absent. In these moments, the natural response is to despair, to feel the weight of circumstances pressing in. The soul, like the walls around Jerusalem, can feel as though it's crumbling. But the stories in today's readings remind us: when trials come, we are not left without hope. Hezekiah, faced with threats and overwhelming odds, did not turn to alliances or manipulations, or give in to fear. Instead, he turned to God—laying before him the great burdens, the threats, and the uncertainties. He waited, and trusted, even as the temptation to abandon hope was real and strong. The word through Isaiah came: the victory would come, but it would take time. It would be a process. The first year would be lean, on the edge of survival; the second, a bit easier, and then, in the third year, flourishing would come—roots would go down deep, and those who endured would see the fruitfulness and restoration of God. This is a pattern for us as well—trials are for a season, even when that season feels long. If we trust God in the waiting, letting Him carry our burdens, turning our hearts to Him instead of away, we find the strength we need for today—and the joy that is promised for tomorrow. points out that it's easy for despair to have the loudest voice in the face of hardship. Yet the invitation from God is to let our roots grow down in the soil of His faithfulness—a reminder that even in seasons of suffering or confusion, God's love and presence are not removed from us. Like David addressed his own soul in the Psalms—Why so downcast, O my soul? Have faith in God—we are invited to speak truth to our own hearts, to keep showing up, opening ourselves again to God's promises. Living in this way forms and shapes us. It makes us resilient, able to flourish in whatever season comes, anchored in God's steadfast love and faithfulness. This is the prayer for today: that our souls would receive strength for today's trial, and have hope for the joy to come. That even in our emptiness, surrender, and weakness, we are being filled, strengthened, and united with Christ, where our true joy is found. That's a prayer has for his soul, for his family, and for you. May it be so. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The ominous question Hezekiah hears from King Sennacherib was, why should you be any different? In other words, why should you expect any other outcome than the one everyone else gets? Sennacherib had a track record, and if you're looking for a track record to prove your own impending doom, you'll have no trouble finding it. Your own Sennacherib will surely show up to tell you that you're no different either. But King Sennacherib had a problem because King Hezekiah was different. In 2 Kings 18:5, we see that Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after his time. The difference was that God had anointed him. God's presence was with him. Instead of rolling over and defeated, as some might, Hezekiah rolled with his anointing and into the presence of the Lord. Second Kings 19:14 says, after Hezekiah received the letter from the messenger and read it, he went up to the Lord's temple and spread it out before the Lord, and Hezekiah prayed. He asked his God, the only God, the God of Israel, to listen, to bend down, to deliver. He asked God to show Sennacherib and Israel that God's people are not like everyone else, and that he is a God like no other. In verse 19, it says, "Now, O Lord our God, rescue us from his power. Then all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you alone are God." God did that very thing. He proved to Hezekiah and King Sennacherib and all the kings of the earth that he alone is God. He answered the question that was crashing in on Hezekiah's heart. The question was, what makes you think you are any different? The difference was God. Our God is the difference maker, and he's come to make a difference in your life. He's come to live and abide in us as we live in him. It makes all the difference in the world. We are able to face those accusations of our own personal Sennacherib and all those that come to terrify us. We can roll with our anointing and into the presence of God, drawing close to the one who is the difference maker, the one who gives us victory. So draw near to the one who makes the difference. Find your strength in him. When you hear the words, "what makes you any different?" respond like Hezekiah and roll into the presence of the Lord. Place those accusations at his feet. Ask him to show you what the difference is once again so that you might stand up, stand strong and see the victory that he alone can bring. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Today, Heather invites us to join in community with people around the world as we journey through the Scriptures, seeking to encounter Jesus, the true source of life. Our readings cover 2 Chronicles 29–31, where King Hezekiah leads a powerful restoration of worship, cleanses the temple, and calls the people back to God with humility and renewed devotion. We conclude with James 4, reflecting on humility, overcoming inner conflicts, and drawing near to God. As we listen, Heather encourages us to clear out the "junk" from our own hearts and to come before God with honesty and humility, trusting in His grace and guidance for this new day. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He humbled himself before the Lord. In Hezekiah, we see a king unlike so many before him—one who earnestly seeks God, choosing humility and obedience over pride and neglect. When Hezekiah takes the throne, his first act isn't to pursue power or personal gain, but to reopen the temple and call people back to worship. He sees that the altar, meant for the presence of God, has become cluttered—full of junk, forgotten things, and memories of unfaithfulness. It took sixteen days for the Levites to clear it out, to purify the space, to make it ready once again for true worship. And so it is for us. Humility before God isn't something that just happens; it requires intention, effort, and honesty about the things in our lives that have piled up over time. Disappointments, resentments, fears—these are the things that gather in the corners of our hearts and keep us from an open and honest relationship with God. We might be tempted to ignore them, to let the clutter gather, but God gently calls us to begin the work of clearing it out. James tells us, "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor." We don't have to be stuck in the patterns of the past. God invites us each day to come close, to bring him the mess, to let him help us clear away what divides us from him. This isn't just about feeling better; it's about being renewed, restored, and able to receive the encouragement, peace, and presence of Christ. The same God who restored the temple through Hezekiah is able to restore us as we humble ourselves and seek him. Let this day—this moment in Scripture—be a turning point, an act of humility where we invite God to do a new work in us. May we choose to bow our hearts, clear out the junk, and receive God's mercy and grace. As we come boldly before his throne, let us trust that he will help us, heal us, and use us for his purposes. That is my prayer for myself, for my family, and for you. May it be so. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! On this July 19th episode, Hunter leads us through another step in our year-long journey through scripture. Today, we'll read from 2 Kings 17, 2 Chronicles 28, Psalm 46, and James 3, exploring stories of Israel's exile, Judah's struggles under King Ahaz, the hope and refuge found in God, and the wisdom and peace offered through Christ. Hunter reflects on how God's love transforms our hearts, the challenges of taming our words, and the invitation to live as peacemakers, filled with the Spirit. Stay with us for scripture, reflection, and prayer as we seek to be shaped by the living Word of God. TODAY'S DEVOTION: When he tames our heart with his love, our lives are changed. It's as if we've been reborn. We begin to live a different kind of life. James is contrasting two different kinds of life here. There is the Spirit-filled life, evidenced by a heart that's being tamed by his love. And there is the heart of the flesh. James points to something as simple and mundane as the tongue and our words. And he shows us that this little tongue of ours simply cannot be tamed. It can't be controlled. It often controls us. It creates circumstances in our lives that are simply beyond or out of our control. It's a flame of fire, he says, and that fire finds its source in hell itself. He tells us that if we could control the tongue, we'd be perfect. But alas, we can't even control this tiny little tongue of ours. And we are not perfect. We can't even affect the change we want in something as simple as the use of our words. It's as futile as trying to draw fresh water from a salty spring, James says. But in Christ, our heart is tamed by his love, and we begin to participate with that love. And we begin to learn to draw from the refreshing springs of Christ, his presence with us and in us daily. We experience something completely different in Christ. We can learn to have wisdom that is pure and peace loving. We can learn to be gentle. We can learn to yield to others, to show mercy, to be sincere, to not show favoritism. We can learn to be peacemakers. A life tamed by his love in the end will yield a harvest of righteous living. James is describing in such beautiful detail here what the Spirit-filled life looks like. And that life is possible if we want it. It's not possible on our own effort, but it is possible when we are captivated, tamed by the love of God. So let us look into the face of Christ and see the One who is love itself. Let us behold the manner of love that has been poured out on us. Unqualified, unconditional, fully received, fully embraced. Let us live in this love of his and let us participate with the Spirit's work by offering that love to others, even today. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. Join us for Scripture, spiritual encouragement, and prayer, and be reminded that you are deeply loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Let your faith move from your head to your hands and feet. James tells us that faith, by itself, isn't enough unless it produces good deeds—it is dead and useless. But what exactly does that mean for those of us trying to walk with Christ day by day? When I think about good deeds, as James talked about in this passage, I think of obedience—of stepping out, not simply doing good for goodness' sake, but truly responding in trust to what God is laying before us 16:43. Simply doing good deeds isn't what God is after. He is after a real relationship with us, our real participation with him in what he is doing 16:57. Our acts of faith are not mere requirements to check off or ways to earn favor with God, but are invitations to participate in the very life that we have in Jesus 17:16. Our faith meets its fullness and completion not in our thoughts, not in our words, but in those moments when we choose to walk in step with His Spirit, moving our trust from our heads out into our hands and feet 17:43. Transformation comes in participation; Christ is witnessed to in this world in our obedience. Let us begin to do the next thing God has given us. Let us do it trusting his care 17:49. Let our faith become practical, tangible, lived out in acts of love and service for others 17:49. That is my prayer for my own heart, for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that is my prayer for you, too 18:15. May it be so. TODAY'S DEVOTION: What is the word planted in your heart? James invites us to humbly accept the word that God has planted deep within. It's a question worth pondering – what is that word? Not merely religious phrases or repeated rituals, but a living, powerful word. James tells us this word has the power to save your soul—not just for some distant day, but right here and now. This word isn't our own effort, it's not our performance, but it's the person of Jesus—the living Word. Jesus alone has the power to save, transform, and renew. It is his life that we are invited to receive. When we accept this word—accept him—our souls are changed. His life doesn't just bring us safely to heaven; it is transforming us even as we walk through today. This gospel has that kind of power. When we look into the perfect law that sets us free, we see not just our own reflection, but the very origin of our design. We see Him—the one in whose image we were made—and we remember who we truly are in the light of what he has done. If we live and act from that reality, that vantage of who we truly are in Christ, there we find power. Power to overcome our weaknesses, power to experience a new creation life, and power for self-control—even to tame the tongue as James urges. It is Christ in us that makes the impossible possible: genuine love for the least, selfless acts, forgiveness. It's not striving, but abiding that transforms us. That's the word that's been planted in your heart, the word that saves, the word that changes everything—Jesus, the living Word. See him when you look in the mirror of God's law. Remember what he has done and who you have become. That's my prayer for my own soul, for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son—and that's my prayer for you. May it be so. It was a fire that restored hope, not left them judged and hopeless. This is the work God does—removing all that stands between Him and the beloved, so that nothing hinders the fullness of His presence in our lives. Let us open ourselves to this holy fire. Let us welcome the transforming presence of Christ within. May His relentless love burn away all that is not of Him, and make us into people marked by hope, restored by grace, and filled with the unshakable joy of His presence. That's the prayer Hunter makes for his own soul, for his family—his wife, daughters, and son—and that's the prayer he has for you. May it be so. That is the testimony from beginning to end. There's no hidden path, no secret knowledge, nothing complicated about it. It is as simple as trusting that there is a God, and now, in Christ, knowing that God has shown up in person to mend this broken world. This is the "something better" that God had in mind. He is not distant; he is here with us. He has entered into our life, and he is actively doing something about the hardships and wounds we carry. We are invited to walk with him through every difficulty, not by our own determination but by keeping our eyes on him. Faith is less about having it all work out the way we want, and more about the certainty that it will work out in the end because God is with us, weaving even the hardest things for good for those who love him. Because of this hope, we can begin to experience true peace, a taste of real love, the possibility of deep change. God is with us step by step, empowering us for this journey of faith. So what more needs to be said? Each day, we—weak, battered, sometimes shattered but always blessed—follow the God who has something better in mind. The goodness of what he has planned is beyond what we can imagine. Today, let's set our focus there, fixing our eyes on the horizon of his promises, taking each step with him. That is the prayer of my own heart: to walk with him, to keep my focus on Christ and his better hope. It is the prayer I have for my family and for you, as we share in this journey of faith together. May it be so. What Heather shares with us in the reading from Hebrews 10 is a truth so powerful it has the potential to change everything about the way we live and relate to God. The old way—the continual sacrifices, the endless reminders of our shortcomings, our shame—it's over. God does not want your weekly offerings of regret over your past. That is not the life he's inviting you into. Instead, by the sacrifice of Jesus, once for all time, you have been made clean. Not because of your own efforts, not because of relentless self-examination, not even because of the depth of your regret or your repentance. No, you are forgiven, washed, and clean because of what Christ has done for you—fully, finally, before you ever did a thing. So where does that leave you? Walk in the liberty and joy of a clean conscience. You don't have to keep coming before God with hands full of regret and shame. Repentance is a response—an agreement with what God has already accomplished in Christ for you. Just as Paul urges us to forget what is behind and press on toward what lies ahead, so too we can leave regret behind and live as people set free. Let us live out of this place of freedom. Let us remember that we are being made holy, that his Spirit dwells in us, that his law is written on our hearts and minds, and that God is the one who says, "I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds." Hold tightly to this hope. Encourage one another. Motivate each other toward love and good deeds. Don't let shame or regret hold you back from the abundant, joyful life God is offering you in Christ. That's a prayer I hold for myself, for my family, and for you. May you know the deep freedom and rest of a conscience made clean by the sacrifice of Jesus. May it be so. Stay tuned for prayer, encouragement, and community as we continue this daily walk in faith together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There is a second room, and in it are symbols of a second chance. That's what the writer of Hebrews wants us to see. In the old tabernacle, there was the holy place, the first room, but then behind the curtain stood the second room—the place set apart, mysterious, seemingly out of reach. In that room was a box, and inside that box were signs of God's presence: manna, the symbol of his loving provision; Aaron's staff, a sign of his rule and wisdom; and the stone tablets, his law, his righteousness. These were the tokens of the kingdom, sealed up, kept at a distance with only one person allowed in once a year to bring a sacrifice. Year after year, the high priest offered the blood of calves and goats, seeking access—seeking a way to unlock those treasures, to bring the kingdom closer. But the key to this box, the release of all its promise and power, required a greater sacrifice than any animal could provide. Only one could open it. Only God's own high priest, Christ himself, could unlock the way. Jesus offered his own blood—not just for a year, not just for one person, but once for all, for everyone. He entered the real holy place and laid down his life. Now the gifts of God's kingdom—the knowledge of his love, the wisdom of his rule, the grace to live a new life—are opened up to us all. No longer scraps, no longer tokens kept behind a veil, but the fullness of life in God's kingdom, given to you, offered today. So the question is: will we live as if we're still on the outside, surviving on distant memories and far-off hopes, or will we embrace all that Christ has opened up for us? He went in for you and for me, and now his life, his joy, his very presence, are ours. May we see what he's done, rest in his completed work, and know his joy. That's the prayer I have for my soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. Hunter points us to this reality at the heart of Hebrews 8: we have a high priest, one who stands not just before God for us, but with us, including us in his very life and fellowship with the Father and the Spirit. All the laws, the covenants, the rituals written on stone or parchment, they're shadows of a greater reality. Jesus has written God's law on our hearts, invited us to participate in his kingdom, not as distant outsiders, but as beloved children. He has freed us from guilt and shame, broken the rod of our oppression, and delivered us from the power of death and the grave. Where Moses led from bondage, where other priests mediated at altars made with hands, Jesus is our advocate in heaven itself. The invitation is now—not to receive a list of commandments carved in stone, but the very life of Christ written within. Wherever you are today, let yourself hear that: Jesus is the main point. The gospel isn't about what you can do, but what he has done, what he is doing, and what he will continue to do. He is the Wonderful Counselor, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. All the stories, the struggles, the prayers, the hopes—they're pointing us to him. Let us then live as people whose lives have been written not with ink or chisels, but by the Spirit of the Living God. Let us find our joy—not in the weight of self-made righteousness, but in the freedom and forgiveness that have come in Christ. In him, by his life in us, we are set free to walk in the light and love of our King. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The remedy for hearing loss—love in action. Yesterday's reading was about our hearing and how to avoid dullness of hearing by savoring the milk and the meat of God's Word. This was the remedy for hearing loss and dullness. Today we expand upon this thought. Love too is a remedy for hearing loss, particularly love for other Christians. The writer here says, "For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers as you still do." Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. If we put God's Word into loving action for God's people, then we will not become indifferent and dull of hearing. The remedy for dullness of hearing and hearing loss is to savor the milk and the meat of God's Word and to put the Word into loving action for God's people and for this world. When we do that, we realize that our souls are anchored in Christ and we experience the with-God life. As it says, "Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary and Jesus has already gone in there for us." Our hope in God leads us into the sanctuary where Jesus has already gone. This with-God life is a life in the presence of God, anchored to Him. It is a life where we experience our utmost joy and his ultimate glory. Hear him today. Be anchored in his love and know the joy of the life that you have in Him. It's a life that is available to all of us even today. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. That's the question Hunter raises as he reflects on today's scripture readings. Are you dull of hearing? Have you found yourself making the same mistakes, lacking discernment, feeling stuck? Maybe you're not hearing the right things—or maybe you've become spiritually dull, as the writer of Hebrews warns at 11:17. There's so much more God wants to share with us, but sometimes, we just don't listen. But there's good news: there's a remedy for this hearing problem, and it's all about desire—for the milk and the meat of the Word. Just as babies crave spiritual milk, we're called to cry out for the nourishment of God's Word, to desire it deeply. The trouble isn't with the milk—it's with our lack of desire. When we lose our appetite for what is good, our spiritual hearing suffers, and we find ourselves unable to make wise decisions. We can fill our lives with so much noise, so many wrong things, that we dull our senses to what matters most. Yet hope remains: by coming back to God's Word with longing—savoring it, learning through the Spirit to see the mercy and love of Christ—we find our hearing restored. Over time, this desire for the spiritual milk grows and becomes hunger for the meat, for deeper truths, for maturity. Real maturity isn't about managing sin better or keeping up your religious checklist. It's found in a living desire for God—in a life shaped by dependence, joy, and day-by-day listening for His voice. As Hunter says, a meaty life is one led moment by moment by the wisdom and discernment of God, a dynamic relationship where our character is shaped and we hear Him well. Jesus says, "My sheep hear my voice, and they follow me." And so we return to the Word each day, letting it grow our desire, shaping us to crave the Living Word. Let the savored Word, over time, nurture and strengthen you. Let it lead you to a mature faith, rich in wisdom, marked by righteous and wise living—a life alive in Christ. This is the desire Hunter holds for his own soul, for his family, and for you: that God will give you a hunger for His Word, that your hearing will be healed, and that you will walk each day in the joy and wisdom of His presence. May it be so. Gather with us for scripture, prayer, and a reminder that you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: To rest or not to rest. That is the question. Our world experiences so much pain and judgment, all because we refuse to rest. We refuse to trust and rely on God, and instead we insist on relying on our own efforts. We refuse to humble ourselves. We refuse to accept the proclamation that this is the day of salvation, the day to enter his rest. It's such a simple word, rest. It's such a simple call upon our lives to enter into God's rest. And yet none of the prophets succeeded in bringing God's people into God's rest. Call and cry as they would, the people hardened their hearts and refused to enter into the sublime simplicity of rest in God. Christ was the sacrifice that would make a way for us to enter into God's rest. And now, because of what Christ has done, the Holy Spirit empowers us to enter in and cease from our incessant and fearful work of trying to justify ourselves through our own piety—so much of which is motivated by our fear of the God of law and judgment, failing to see and to receive the invitation to come to the God who is Father, Redeemer, the One who forgives, the One who lifts our head. So we must stop our never-ending rebellion and running away from this God, demanding that life be lived only on our terms. Instead, we are invited to exchange all of that for his rest. This is the simple call of faith. Come. Come to God. Come to the One who is your life. Hear the simple, sublime call of faith in Christ. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...
