In today's episode, host Hunter invites us to journey through day 135 of our year-long Bible reading adventure. We'll be exploring 1 Chronicles chapters 25 to 27, discovering the organization of temple musicians, gatekeepers, and King David's army officers. Then, we'll dive into 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, where Paul encourages believers to live holy, loving, and hope-filled lives—all centered on the profound promise of resurrection and Christ's glorious return. Hunter reflects on the Greek word “apantēsis” used by Paul, painting a powerful picture of believers joyfully meeting Jesus, much like welcoming an honored guest into a celebration. Through prayer and thoughtful meditation, this episode is designed to inspire your heart, reassure your faith, and remind you that you are dearly loved. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's spend some meaningful time together in God's Word. TODAY'S DEVOTION: A sure and solid hope. Paul, in his letter to the Thessalonians, wants to fill the believers with hope—a hope anchored in the resurrection of Jesus. The central message of today's passage isn't about predicting timelines or worrying about being left behind. Instead, it's about comfort, encouragement, and the surety of belonging with Christ, both now and forevermore. Paul uses the word “apantēsis”—a term that paints a picture richer than mere meeting. It's the image of a people who go out to greet someone they've been longing for, and then, together, process with him into his place of honor, into the celebration, into the heart of the community. This isn't about escape, but about joyful welcome. Just as villagers would run out to greet guests, as Hunter shares from his own experiences in India, so there will come a day when the faithful who have died and those still living will join together in greeting Christ. There is no reversal, no turning away, only forward movement—together, with our King. Paul's words pastorally reassure the anxious hearts of his day—and ours. Grief isn't the last word. Neither confusion nor uncertainty nor death itself can swallow up the hope Christ has given us. The resurrection is God's great declaration that there are no forgotten ones. No one is left behind in his kingdom plan. Those that have gone before, and we who remain, will all share in the joy of Christ's return and his reign—on earth as it is in heaven. This hope is sure and solid. As Christ was raised, so too are we raised to new life in him—not only in the age to come, but even now, as we walk as his people. We have a King who leads us home, a King who makes us his own, a King whose coming fills all our waiting with joy. So today, let's encourage one another with these words. Let's rest in this deep, resurrection hope. Let's live as people who know they belong to Christ—and will process into his presence with gladness when that day comes. That's a prayer I have for my soul, for my family, for the whole church, and for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In today's episode, “May 11th, 2025 Heather,” Heather guides us through day 131 of our journey through the scriptures, inviting listeners from around the world to gather around the warmth of God's love. Together, we read from 2 Samuel 19-20, Psalm 55, and conclude with Matthew 28, reflecting on King David's tumultuous return to power, a psalmist's cry for help, and the earth-shaking hope of Jesus' resurrection. With Mother's Day as a backdrop, Heather shares personal reflections on grief, hope, and the mystery of resurrection, drawing inspiration from her own family's recent loss. She beautifully connects the promise of transformation found in scripture with the journey of saying goodbye to loved ones, and invites us to rest in the hope of restoration and new life. The episode closes with powerful prayers for peace, guidance, and unity, as well as the encouragement to carry God's love into the world. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's discover together the sustaining love and hope found in God's story—and remember: you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Resurrection and the Mystery of Transformation I don't think I have ever considered the resurrection of Jesus and Mother's Day at the same time. But as we celebrate Mother's Day today, there are many of us whose mothers are no longer with us. Hunter and I, along with many of our family, gathered around my mother's grave site this last weekend as we laid her ashes to rest alongside my dad's, his brothers, and their parents. My mom has been enveloped into the great mystery, the true home that we will only discover when we finally shed this earthly husk and are transformed. But transformed into what? Even Paul struggled to understand or know it. In his attempts to describe it, he used the example of the everyday seed, a tiny dry brown microcosm of life, which only blooms in full beauty when it has been nestled into the dark soil. There, through water, sun, and light, it finally emerges into a new life-giving plant, looking nothing like the thing it started as. And in its transformation, it takes its unique place in an ongoing participation of life. We are part of this great mystery, which those who have gone before us are discovering, connected through the sustaining life of our loving creator. For now, we experience the heat of the sun, the droughts, the weeds that seem to threaten, even as we learn to cast off our dry husk, yearning to be fully fruitful, fully alive. Ours is to trust in the process of change, resting in the hope of transformation and restoration. We are the small dry seed, the life of the creator deep within us, only fully transformed as we settle into the earthy soil, trusting in the great hope that resurrection will come. Buried in brokenness, raised in glory; buried in weakness, raised in strength. That's a hope and a mystery I hold for my own soul, for my family, and for all who hear these words today. May we live in the light of resurrection, trusting the God who brings life from the dust, and in His promise that we, too, will be made new. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In today's episode, host Hunter invites us to journey together through some of Scripture's most challenging and hope-filled passages. We begin in 2 Samuel 13-14, witnessing the heartbreaking story of David's family—Tamar's suffering, Amnon's crime, and Absalom's revenge—unfolding themes of brokenness, consequence, and the longing for restoration. The reading continues in Matthew 24, where Jesus speaks openly about the future: persecution, deception, and the enduring hope for those who remain faithful, reminding us that no one knows the hour of His return. As we reflect on wisdom from the woman of Tekoa—“our lives are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again”—Hunter encourages us to see how, through Jesus, God makes a way to gather and restore even what seems lost. The episode wraps in prayer, drawing us into the renewing hope of the gospel and practical rhythms of daily faith. So, grab your Bible, settle in, and let's step into God's word together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Our lives are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. These are the wise words of the woman from Tekoa—a poignant reminder that time, opportunity, and past decisions can't be reclaimed. Brokenness, regret, mistakes—these things often feel wasted, much like spilled water. Yet, there is hope, because the story doesn't end with what we have lost. But God does not just sweep life away. Instead, he devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from him. What a beautiful, powerful truth. God specializes in restoration. Where we see only what's gone, wasted, too far out of reach, God sees the possibility for renewal. He has made a way, through a king greater than David, through his own Son, Jesus. What we could not recover, Jesus gathers up into himself. Our spilled, bitter water—our failures, shame, and isolation—he meets with his living water. He exchanges our regrets for his life-giving presence. He joins us to himself, making us new, uniting us to his love, never to be separated again. So today, drink deep of these waters of life. Remember, you have a Savior who restores what has been lost. Look to him, trust in him, and let his grace draw you near. There is no past too wasted for Christ to redeem, no distance too far for him to gather you up in love. He alone can transform what was once spilled and gone, making all things new. That's a prayer I hold for my own heart: to trust his gathering grace, to let his love renew what feels wasted, and to rest in the newness he offers each day. It's a prayer I hold for my family, and for you. May you know the abundance of his living water, and may you find yourself gathered up in the fullness of Christ's love. In today's episode, host Hunter guides us through the events of a pivotal day in our yearlong journey through scripture. We dive into 2 Samuel 11–12, where we witness King David's fall into sin with Bathsheba and the tragic consequences that follow, as well as his heartfelt repentance captured in Psalm 51. Hunter reflects on the power of story—drawing a powerful connection between the story Nathan the prophet shares with David, and our own need for honest self-reflection and restoration with God. In the New Testament reading, Matthew 23, Jesus offers fierce words to the religious leaders of his day, challenging all of us to pursue true humility, justice, and mercy. Throughout the episode, Hunter provides thoughtful commentary on the importance of recognizing our union with God even when we fall short, and invites listeners into a time of prayer for renewal, peace, and compassion. As always, the podcast closes with warm encouragement to keep showing up—both for yourself and for those you love—reminding us that God's love and restoration are always available. In today's episode, host Hunter guides us through day 125 of our journey through the Bible, reading from 2 Samuel 10, 1 Chronicles 20, Psalm 20, and Matthew 22. We'll witness King David's encounters with loyalty and betrayal, victory in battle, and the rich prayers of Psalm 20. Then, we turn to Jesus' parables and his challenging conversations with the Pharisees about the greatest commandments and the true meaning of knowing God's power. Hunter's reflection reminds us that real understanding of Scripture comes from seeing it through Jesus—knowing not only the words, but the transforming power of his resurrection life and love for everyone. You'll hear prayers for peace, purpose, and gratitude, and be reassured with the simple but powerful truth: you are loved. Settle in for a thoughtful and encouraging time in God's Word together! TODAY'S DEVOTION: They set a trap, but the trap they set sprung on them. They came to trap Jesus with their questions, but their questions merely revealed that they didn't understand the scriptures or the power of God. That's what Jesus told them. "Your mistake is that you don't know the Scriptures, and you don't know the power of God." They were badly mistaken, because to know the Scriptures and to know the power of God is to know Jesus and the power of his resurrection. It's possible to learn all about the Bible—even to have the whole thing memorized—but if you aren't looking at the Scriptures through the person of Jesus, you will be badly mistaken too. You can be very religious, very pious, and still not have the power to love God or to love others. That power is found only in Jesus. God offers us these two things: knowledge and insight into the Scriptures, and power to live a new quality of life. We don't need to pose or pretend any longer, because now we have new life. When we look at the Bible through the lens of Jesus, we realize we aren't coming to God to interrogate him, to try and outsmart him. Instead, we discover that God has already caught us up into his life and his love. Even before we knew it, we were loved by God; while we were still sinners, he gave himself for us. The parable in today's reading states this plainly: good and bad alike are welcomed into the banquet of God. That is the nature of God's invitation—open, generous, and radically inclusive. When we view the Scriptures through Jesus, we see what God has done for the whole world, and that we are all included. And so, that's why we remind ourselves of this every day on this podcast: you are loved. No ifs, ands, or buts. That's just the way it is—because that's who God is. That's a prayer I have for my own heart today—that I will know this well, know God, know his Scriptures, and know his power. That's my prayer for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer I have for you. In today's episode, host Hunter invites listeners on Day 125 of our journey through scripture, exploring passages from 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, and Matthew. Together, we'll witness King David's military victories and his profound act of kindness to Mephibosheth, hear the story of Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, and learn from his teachings and parables about faith, humility, and true authority. As always, Hunter encourages us to warm our hearts by the fire of God's love, reminding us that our greatest victories come through the humble, conquering King—Jesus—who offers rest and peace to all who are weary and burdened. Whether you're in Sweden, Ukraine, or anywhere else in the world, you are part of this global, grace-filled community. So, grab your Bible, settle in, and let's discover the treasures of God's Word together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Someone greater than King David is coming. All throughout today's reading, we see David—the greatest king in Israel's memory—defeating his enemies, subduing kingdoms, and bringing treasures of gold, silver, and bronze into Jerusalem. The nations fall before him; his name grows famous. But the spoils of his conquest are fleeting, material things, trophies of war. Yet the Bible points us forward. There is another King coming—one greater than David. And this King, Jesus, does not conquer by the shed blood of others, but by shedding his own blood for the sake of the world. His triumph isn't measured in riches or territory, but in lives redeemed, in sinners welcomed home, in foreigners and outcasts called sons and daughters. He comes not riding a war horse, but humble and lowly, on a borrowed donkey. He enters not to take, but to give; not to demand, but to serve. The treasures he wins are not silver and gold, but people—the weary, the burdened, those defeated by life, the ones ready to wave that white flag of surrender. You and I are invited again today to see this King, to see his humility, his gentleness, his generous victory. "Come to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens," he says, "and I will give you rest." He offers his own victorious life for those broken, discouraged, or worn down by their own wars—whether in relationships, finances, health, or hope itself. His victory is for sinners, tax collectors, prostitutes, fishermen, and anyone who will come to him in humility. It is for all who will lay down their burdens and take up his yoke—light, gentle, and full of grace. In his kingdom, defeat becomes victory, sorrow turns to joy, burdens lift as we walk with him. Let us look, then, for our King, humble and riding on a donkey, offering rest for our souls. Let his life fill us, his joy be our strength, and his victory be our song. May we rejoice in his gentle rule today, surrendering all that weighs us down, and finding life—true life—in the One who gave himself for us. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. On this May 3rd episode, Hunter invites us to journey together through day 124 of our Bible reading plan. Today's passages include 2 Samuel 7, 1 Chronicles 17, Psalm 2, and Matthew 20. We'll reflect on God's promises to David, the unique place of Israel in God's story, and the profound parable of the vineyard workers. Hunter guides us through both the scriptures and heartfelt prayers, reminding us of God's unfailing kindness, compassion, and love—especially in our lowest moments. Whether you feel like you're in your own “Jericho,” searching for hope and vision, or simply seeking encouragement for today, this episode centers on how God sees, stops, and restores us. Settle in for an uplifting blend of scripture, meditation, and prayer as we take another step on our daily walk through God's word. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He sees us, and he stops for us. Jericho—known as the lowest city on earth—becomes in the Bible a kind of symbol for us, a place where blind eyes are opened and where people at their lowest are noticed and restored by Jesus. Earlier, there was blind Bartimaeus in Jericho, and today we hear of two unnamed blind men, sitting by the roadside, unable to see and overlooked by the crowd. Yet when they call out, “Son of David, have mercy on us,” Jesus hears, he stops, and he asks them, “What do you want me to do for you?” They ask for mercy. They want to see. Life has a way of bringing us to our own private Jericho. We find ourselves blinded, brought low, uncertain which way to turn. And in those moments, as in this story, we are reminded that we can cry out to God, even when it seems others want to quiet us or think we're unworthy of attention. When we tell God honestly our need—to see, to be restored, to find mercy—he stops for us. He listens. He cares. And he is able to give us what we truly need. What a comfort to know that when we are at our lowest, God is not indifferent, nor too busy to stop. He sees us. He touches our eyes so that we might see again—see his love, see our purpose, see the next step. It's when we know we are truly seen and loved by God that we find the strength and the will to follow Jesus, just as these two men did. Love enables us to get up and go after him, to make our way even from our lowest place, right into the light of his presence. And so, the prayer of my heart today is like theirs: Lord, have mercy. Help me to see. And having seen your love, may I follow you wherever you lead. That's my prayer for my own soul, for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son—and that is my prayer for you. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. On today's episode, host Hunter invites us into day 122 of our journey through Scripture, focusing on First Chronicles 16, Psalm 106, and Matthew 19. Together, we reflect on God's enduring faithfulness, the story of Israel's wanderings, and Jesus' teachings about marriage, hard-heartedness, and what it truly means to follow him. As we listen, Hunter guides us to see how all of Scripture points to Christ, the bridegroom, as God's answer for our hearts. Alongside our Bible readings, we'll spend time in prayer—seeking God's purpose, asking to become instruments of his peace, and remembering that we are deeply loved. So, grab your Bible and join us as we warm ourselves by the fire of God's love and continue to grow together, day by day. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jesus is the answer for our hard hearts. In today's reading from Matthew 19, Jesus says something remarkable about the law: it is a concession to our hardheartedness. The laws given, even about divorce, are an acknowledgment of our rebellion, our tendency to live life apart from God. God gives the law not as his ultimate desire for us, but as a way to deal with our brokenness and stubbornness. But that is not where the story ends. The answer is not the law. The answer is Jesus himself. Throughout scripture, we see marriage as a significant signpost. It was at a wedding in Cana that Jesus performed his first miracle, turning water into wine. And at the end of time, there is the promise of a great marriage feast—the marriage supper of the Lamb. All of scripture is pointing to this bridegroom, our Lord Jesus, who longs to transform our hearts and give us new life. He is God's answer to our heart's deepest need, far surpassing anything the law can do. The religious leaders came to Jesus trying to corner him with the law, but Jesus was not distracted by their traps. Instead, he offered freedom—the kind of healing only he can bring to hearts that are hardened by sin, disappointment, and pride. Jesus is the one who comes near with compassion, who makes all things new, who invites us to leave behind our old ways and follow him into abundant life. This is the answer for us today. Not more rules or burdens, but the loving, transforming presence of Jesus. The one who turns water into wine, the one who welcomes the little children, the one who calls rich and poor alike to lay down what stands in the way and receive the treasure of his kingdom. And that's the prayer of my heart today: that I will let him. That's what I long for my own soul, for my family, and for you. That we would open our hearts to the bridegroom, to the only one who can truly make us new and set us free. It's May 1st, day 122 of our journey through the Scriptures, and Hunter—your faithful host, brother, and Bible reading coach—is here to guide you. In this episode, we take a heartfelt stroll through 1 Chronicles 14-15, Psalm 132, and Matthew 18. Together, we witness David's rise as king, the joyful return of the Ark to Jerusalem, and hear Jesus' challenging words about humility, forgiveness, and mercy. Hunter doesn't just read the passages; he unpacks their meaning, especially Jesus' parable of the unforgiving debtor, reminding us of the generous mercy the King has shown us—and our call to extend that mercy to others. The episode wraps with prayers for peace, unity, and a deeper embrace of God's love, paired with gratitude for the community that makes this podcast possible. Settle in and join the soul work, as we seek to live generously, forgive freely, and remember—no matter what—you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The king is merciful, but the debtor is not. His debt has been paid in full. Mercy has been shown to him, but this man will not show mercy to others. Why is he behaving this way? Why is his heart not changed by the mercy of the king? Why is he so desperate to collect from others now that he's debt free? Maybe it's because he resents the king. The heart of the flesh never wants to admit its debt. When the debt is pointed out, and even when it is forgiven, the heart doesn't receive it as such. The heart of the flesh is still trying to pay back and earn, to rid itself of the shame by extracting it from others. The debtor wants to free himself of the shame. He's desperate never to be in that position again. But the heart that is ready to receive mercy is evidenced by the desire to offer mercy. It realizes the debt was too great, and there's no way to ever repay it. The king has absorbed the loss because of his generous heart. And this is true for you and me too. King Jesus has absorbed the loss, the debt. He took on the insurmountable debt on Calvary's Mountain, and he said, forgiven. We can never collect enough from others to pay back what we owe. We must simply receive from the generous heart of the king. That's it. And when we do, we're changed by his loving, forgiving, and merciful heart. And we can and we must offer the same heart of generosity to others, forgiving the debts of others as we ourselves have been forgiven. Today, let's live with the generosity of heart, for we have been forgiven. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. It's April 30th and we've reached day 121 in our journey through the Scriptures—a milestone marking the close of another month together in 2025. Today's episode takes us through powerful passages in 2 Samuel 6, 1 Chronicles 13, Psalm 68, and Matthew 17. Hunter, our host, invites us to pause from the rush of life and soak in God's Word, letting it speak deeply into our hearts. This episode delves into the dramatic story of moving the Ark of God, David's uninhibited worship, and the consequences of disregarding God's holiness. We reflect on the blessing that follows reverence and obedience, and the ways God's presence transforms lives and communities. In the New Testament, we ascend the mountain with Jesus, Peter, James, and John for the Transfiguration—a breathtaking vision of God's glory and the Father's resounding call to “listen to Him.” Hunter shares moving insights on how Jesus is the final and living Word, the One who remains when all other voices fade away, and how God is drawing all humanity to Himself for true transformation. We'll close, as always, with prayer—asking God to make us instruments of His peace, to renew our minds and hearts, and to carry us forward in the strength of His joy. So grab your Bible, settle in, and join us as we listen, reflect, and pray together on today's Daily Radio Bible. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The pathway to real transformation is seen here on this mountain. This story is about far more than Jesus' clothes being transformed, made dazzling white, whiter than snow. It's about you and me. It's about the world and all things being transformed. In this story, we are offered a vision and a voice. The first thing we see is that Jesus—he's the final word. He's the one we're told to listen to over and above all else. Not Elijah. Not Moses. Not the writings. Not the Torah. Not Peter. Not me. Not you. Peter witnesses this amazing moment—there he is. Suddenly, Elijah and Moses are speaking with Jesus on the mountain, and Peter, out of fear or pride or probably both, shouts out, “Lord, it's good for us to be here. If you wish, I'll make three tabernacles here. One for you, one for Moses, one for Elijah.” Peter thinks somehow he's going to have some final say here. And so we hear him say those words: “I will make a tabernacle.” Other translations render it, “let us build.” But “let us build” is not the final word. No. Those words are often born out of fear and pride, but they will never be the final word. Individuals and kingdoms and churches are always offering this as the final word—let us build. But fear, which makes us cower, and pride, which puffs us up, will all be subsumed in the end by God's voice, by God himself, the living word. And we see that here. Suddenly, a cloud envelops them, and a voice comes from the cloud. The voice they hear is the Father, saying: “This is my son that I love. Listen to him.” At the sound of his voice, they're terrified. They fall face down to the ground. It's at this point that Jesus comes and touches them, says, “Get up. Don't be afraid.” When they look up, nobody is there but Jesus. Moses, Elijah, gone. Only Jesus remains. No more voices. No more conversations. Only Jesus. The one who is the final word. He's the one that remains, and he—the living word—will envelop all of our fearful pride. His voice will break through all things, and he will make all things new. So let's hear the father's voice on this mountain today. He's pointing us to his son. And not just on this mountain, but on a different mountain. This whole episode is pointing us to Calvary's mountain. And not just Peter, James, and John are being drawn to Calvary's mountain—no, he's drawing all of humanity there to himself. When the Son of Man is lifted up, he will draw all humanity to himself, that he might transform all things—including you and me. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I'll hear the Father well. That I'll see what Peter, James, and John saw. That Jesus is the final word. He is the living word. And through him, he's making all things new. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. On this April 29th, 2025 episode, we journey through day 120 of our Bible reading plan, diving into passages from 2 Samuel 4–5, Psalm 139, and Matthew 16. Hunter encourages us with the importance of simply showing up, reminding us that tending to our souls impacts not just ourselves, but those we love and our wider community. Today's readings explore the dramatic times of David as he becomes king over Israel, David's deep reflections in Psalm 139 about God's intimate knowledge of each of us, and Jesus' challenging words to his disciples in Matthew 16 about seeing life from God's perspective—rather than just our own. Hunter calls listeners to consider what it means to live in the light of the cross and to allow God's love and purpose to shape our lives. The episode concludes with heartfelt prayers for guidance, peace, and a reminder that love “showed up” for us all. So join in, take a walk if you can, and be encouraged to keep showing up for yourself and those around you—because you are loved, no doubt about it. TODAY'S DEVOTION: It's a dangerous trap. That's what Jesus calls it—to see things only from your own point of view, from your own perspective. It's a dangerous trap. And Jesus rebukes Peter and says, “Get away from me, Satan. You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's.” It's dangerous to hold on to your life and your agenda apart from God. Later on in this passage, Jesus says, “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you'll save it.” If you demand to hold on to your own way, to make this life a project all about you—your ego, your comfort, your ambition, position, reputation, or pleasure—then you've fallen into a trap, and you will ultimately lose your life. “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” asks Jesus. But Jesus gives us a way out. Jesus himself frees us from this trap. He tells us that we must live in light of the cross. We must live in the reality of what has become of us through the cross. You have been restored. You have been forgiven. You have been made new there on the cross with Christ. The way to be free from this dangerous trap is through the victory of the cross. The cross declares what God has done. The cross proclaims what you've become. Wonderful. It is here in Christ that your soul is made new. To pursue your life apart from Christ is to forfeit your soul. It's a failure to see what God has done and what you have now become. You are a child of God, my friend. May God help you to see it so that you can begin to live it, to discover your true self, to discover him. On the cross, we see what it is to love, to give of oneself, to radically forgive others, and to suffer alongside others. When we do that, we become fully alive. So don't fall into the trap. Don't live only from your point of view. Live from the perspective of the cross. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In today's episode, host Hunter guides us through Day 118 of our journey through the Scriptures. We dive into the dramatic events of 2 Samuel 3, where the tension between Saul's dynasty and David's rise to power reaches a boiling point, and loyalties are tested in the midst of political intrigue and family drama. From there, we explore 1 Chronicles 12 and witness the gathering of mighty warriors and tribes rallying to support David as their new king, painting a vivid picture of unity and devotion in ancient Israel. We then turn to Matthew 15, where Jesus challenges the Pharisees on the true meaning of purity and righteousness, and a humble Gentile woman's persistence and faith lead to a miracle of healing. Hunter draws thought-provoking contrasts between the pride of the Pharisees and the humility of the outsider, reminding us how faith, humility, and a heart open to God's love truly make the difference. Join us as we seek deeper insight, pause for prayer, and reflect on God's faithfulness—because you are loved, no doubt about it. TODAY'S DEVOTION: A group of Pharisees and a solitary Gentile woman come to Jesus, and Jesus seems to offend them both, or so it seems at first. The Pharisees are offended for sure. Peter says to Jesus, don't you realize you offended the Pharisees by what you just said? Jesus has criticized their traditions. He's called them hypocrites, blind guides, and they're offended. And as for the Gentile woman, on the face of things, it seems that she would be offended too. But though the Pharisees take offense, the woman does not. The Pharisees come to Jesus in unbelief, in their own righteousness. They don't come with any sense of need other than their need to justify themselves. They come to him, in fact, to point out that he is somehow in the wrong. He's not insisting on the tradition of handwashing, on their standards of holiness, and on their interpretation of the scriptures. In contrast, the gentile woman seemingly has plenty to take offense at. He has just compared her with a dog. Any comparison with a woman and a dog doesn't seem like it's gonna go well. Yet, Jesus also calls her dear woman, and I don't think he's being snide here. I read this as sincere. She is dear to him. And by the time this story is told, we'll see just how dear she proves to be. Jesus is teaching here. He's contrasting the Pharisees and this dear woman. The woman doesn't come in her righteousness like the Pharisees. She doesn't come trying to justify herself. No. She comes in humility, in desperate need, in faith, for the love of her daughter. She comes ready to worship him. In fact, even though she's a Gentile, she calls him lord and master and son of David. Unlike the Pharisees, this Gentile outsider sees what the religious insiders failed to see. The Pharisees, they left the way they came, still thinking Jesus wasn't living up to their standard of holiness, still not saying and doing the right things, still not washing his hands the way their tradition and their reading of the Bible said was the only way. They left offended. They left blind and empty. The gentile woman, she leaves knowing that she is dear to God. She wasn't adhering to any of the so-called right ways of living that the Pharisees had, and yet she leaves with a heart that is full and a daughter that is delivered. This woman had faith. Jesus commends her for it. Out of her faith in God's love comes healing, deliverance, and life. Today, let's join this dear woman in faith, trusting that we too are dear to God. We're loved by him, and from his love will come the healing, the deliverance, and the life that are yours in Christ. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. In today's episode, our Sunday host Heather guides us through day 117 of our journey through the scriptures. Together, we dive into the stories of David's rise as king from 2 Samuel 2 and 1 Chronicles 11, reflect on David's heartfelt cry in Psalm 142, and witness the miraculous compassion of Jesus in Matthew 14—including the feeding of the five thousand and Peter's unforgettable walk on water. Heather reminds us that not all storms in life are as they seem. Sometimes, it's in the midst of chaos and exhaustion that we're most open to God's teaching and presence. Through scripture and thoughtful reflection, she encourages us to keep our eyes on Jesus, especially when the waves feel overwhelming. Gather with listeners from around the world as we warm ourselves by the fire of God's love, praying together for strength, peace, and courage to walk with Jesus—even in the hardest moments. Get ready for insight, encouragement, and a reminder that in every challenge, you are deeply loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Not all troubles are as they seem. Not all storms are as they appear. Sometimes tests aren't just pass or fail. There are lessons to be learned, things God wants to instruct us in the midst of the test, and sometimes he will use some pretty interesting teaching assistants—like the wind and the waves. In the story of Jesus and the disciples out on the water, it seems like the very elements—the storm, the wind, the fatigue—are working together with Jesus, the teacher, to grow his students. It turns out the most optimal time for learning isn't when things are calm and conditions are good. It's not when you're well rested, drinking coffee with blue skies above, that your faith comes alive. It's in the middle of the night, when the storm is raging, when you're tired and afraid. That's when Jesus invites Peter to get out of the boat and walk on water. It's not safe or controlled, it's chaotic and uncertain—yet that's the moment when Peter, keeping his eyes fixed on Jesus, is most fully alive. Sometimes we have to come to the end of ourselves before we can begin. That's the lesson of letting God be God in us. When we keep our eyes on him in the storm, his power is revealed in us in ways that felt unimaginable before. But there's a choice to be made—we can focus on the waves and wind and begin to sink, or we can look to him in trust. It's a reminder that not all storms are what they seem. This isn't just a pass/fail test. God wants to teach us that his strength is made perfect in our weakness. He delights to show himself strong when we're most tired, most spent, most unable. He invites us to step out onto the water with him—to find, right there in the deep, that we are more fully alive than we ever imagined. If it were calm and still, we might never notice him standing there, inviting us closer. But in the storm, in the exhaustion, he's inviting us to trust him, to learn from him, and to discover his power working in and through us. When the wind and waves are raging, Jesus is teaching us, calling us to walk toward him, and promising that he is right there beside us through it all. That's a prayer I want to hold onto for my own life in times of storm, for my family and my loved ones, and for you. May we step into these deep waters with him, trusting that in our weakness, he is strong—and that with Jesus, we truly can do the unimaginable. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. In today's episode, host Hunter guides us through day 116 of our journey through the Scriptures. We begin in 2 Samuel 1 with the aftermath of Saul and Jonathan's deaths and David's lament over the fallen heroes of Israel. Next, we seek God's protection in the heartfelt words of Psalm 140. Finally, we dive into Matthew 13, where Jesus shares the parables of the sower, the weeds, the mustard seed, and more—revealing truths about the kingdom of heaven and the miracle of new life. As Hunter reflects on these passages, he invites us to consider the miracle of life that takes root even in the messiest soil. Through prayer, he encourages us to see God's loving intervention in our everyday lives and to remember that, no matter our circumstances, we are deeply loved. Settle in as we read, reflect, and pray together—discovering hope, purpose, and the wonders of God's love for each one of us. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jesus is telling stories about seeds and soil and the miracle and mystery of new life. Seeds are being thrown out on every imaginable kind of soil, not to waste the seed, but because the miracle of life can take place in any kind of soil. Life is a miracle. And yet there are so many things that come against life. The fact that there's any life at all is simply a miracle. When you consider all that we're up against, that's true in agriculture as well as in our own lives. The worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth, the desire for things, and the thief that comes to plant weeds in the field, and on and on it goes. One thing after another. So much standing in the way of life. So much is coming against that seed. On its own, it doesn't stand a chance. And that's the point of the gospel: that God, seeing that we don't stand a chance at life apart from him, apart from a miracle, has done that very thing. God has intervened. God has provided the miracle that we need. His intervention wasn't by appearing in some otherworldly apparition or vision, sitting high and lofty above all in his brilliant and impenetrable light. That's not how he came. That could have been the miracle, but it wasn't anything like that. God's miraculous intervention was far more humble than that. God became a human being. The creator assumed the life of the creature. He put on flesh and bones and lived among us. He came and sat with us. In this messy soil. He came to give us his life in the midst of this messy world, in the midst of your messy world. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will see what God has done in Christ, that I'll see the miracle of the incarnation of God with us, that I'll see the miracle of the seed that died for all so that all might live, that I'll see the heart of God who saw our need of a miracle, and he came, humbled himself, and gave himself on behalf of all, that I'll worship him today and that I'll have his joy. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In today's episode, host Hunter takes us on a meaningful journey through the scriptures as we read from 1 Samuel 30 and 31, 1 Chronicles 10, and Matthew 12. We witness David's perseverance in the face of loss, the fall of King Saul, and powerful lessons from Jesus about mercy and the true purpose of the Sabbath. Hunter reflects on how Jesus invites us to look beyond religious and political kingdoms to embrace the justice, healing, and hope found in God's kingdom. As we spend this time together, we're encouraged to open our hearts in prayer, be instruments of peace, and remember that no matter where we are in our journey, we are deeply loved. So settle in as we listen, pray, and draw closer to the heart of God. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Are you hungry? Do you need some heads of grain? Is your hand or your heart shriveled? Have you fallen into a well or a ditch and you need to be lifted out? Well, good news. God has you covered. He's come for people just like that. Jesus quotes Isaiah and says, look at my servant whom I have chosen. He is my beloved who pleases me. I will put my spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout or raise his voice. He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will cause justice to be victorious, and he will be called the hope of the world. Religious and political kingdoms like to shout and raise their voice, and they often like to crush the weakest reed. To snuff out the weak by marginalizing or exploiting them. But not with this King, not with our Jesus. No. Our Jesus has come to bring true righteousness, real justice, and if we are willing to put aside our kingdoms, we just might catch a glimpse of what he's doing. And in that glimpse, we might be changed. It happened for the people of Nineveh. At the preaching of Jonah, they forsook their kingdom and clung to God's kingdom and were forgiven. It happened to the queen of Sheba. She put aside her kingdom long enough to see the true wisdom of God. And now it can happen for us if we are willing to put aside our kingdom, to behold the one who is greater than Jonah and far wiser than Solomon, the beloved Son of God, then we will truly be satisfied, and we will hunger no more. He heals hands, and he heals hearts. He pulls us out of the ditch, and he invites us to be his brother, sister and mother, and to do the will of his Father. So let's look to him, the Chosen One, the one that truly pleases the Father, and let us with him become what we are, children of God, who offer the bread of life to all who are hungry and rescue those who have fallen and are dying to get up. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul, and that's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. In today's episode, your host Hunter invites you to join him on Day 115 of our year-long journey through the Bible. We begin in 1 Samuel 28 and 29, where King Saul is desperate for guidance in the face of looming conflict with the Philistines. Next, we reflect on the heartfelt cries of David in Psalm 109. Finally, we turn to Matthew 11, where John the Baptist—struggling with doubt in prison—sends his disciples to ask Jesus if he is truly the Messiah. Jesus' response carries powerful reassurance for anyone wrestling with discouragement. Hunter offers encouragement and prayer, reminding us that even when God seems inattentive to our circumstances, He is still at work, His eye is upon us, and we are deeply loved. Join in as we read, reflect, and pray together—finding hope and renewed vision in God's enduring promises. TODAY'S DEVOTION: See Beyond the Walls. What do you do when it feels like God isn't paying attention to what you're going through? Are you tempted to lose faith, to shut down, or to try and go it alone? If so, you're not alone—John the Baptist felt that too. In our reading today, we find John in prison. His circumstances are dire and his future uncertain. He was the forerunner, the one sent to prepare the way for the Messiah, but now, awaiting execution, everything he thought he knew is called into question. From his cell, John sends his disciples to ask Jesus, “Are you the Messiah, or should we keep looking?” John's vision has shrunk to the walls of his prison, clouded by uncertainty and disappointment. God's apparent inactivity has left him confused and maybe even hurt. And Jesus—notice how he responds. Jesus doesn't send a promise of rescue or a word of immediate deliverance. He doesn't assure John that everything will soon be alright. Instead, he tells John's friends, “Go report what you see and hear: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” Jesus invites John—and invites us—to see beyond our circumstances, to recognize what God is doing beyond the present moment. God is at work, even if we cannot perceive how in our pain or our disappointment. When the walls start to close in and it feels like your faith is being swallowed by uncertainty, Jesus points us outward—to signs of hope, to evidence of his ongoing work in the world. Let this be a word for you today. Don't let your faith hinge on your current struggles, or on what you think God has or hasn't done for you lately. When your vision matches the dimensions of your troubles, remember Jesus' response. Remember that God is not inattentive or neglectful. He sees you. He is working all things out for your good and his glory, even when you can't see it. Jesus had not forgotten John. He has not forgotten you. He is with you, closer than you know. So let's pray for renewed vision—a vision of the God who always works and always sees us. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey through the pages of Scripture together every single day. In today's episode, Hunter—your host and Bible reading coach—guides us through pivotal passages from 1 Samuel 27, Psalm 141, 1 Chronicles 9, and Matthew 10. We'll witness David's escape to Philistine territory, hear the heartfelt prayers of the psalmist, trace the returning exiles in Israel's genealogies, and listen as Jesus sends out his disciples with challenging words on mission, authority, and compassion. Along the way, Hunter offers encouragement for our own walk with Christ—reminding us that, like the disciples, we are sent into the world with both Jesus' credentials and his compassion. Through prayer and reflection, today's episode is an invitation to renewal, perseverance, and joy—even in the midst of life's challenges. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's discover what God has in store on this day in our journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He sends us out with his credentials and his compassion. In today's reading from Matthew 10, we see Jesus sending out his twelve disciples. He isn't sending them out on their own or with their own limited resources—he's sending them with his authority, his message, and his compassion. The disciples are given the power to heal, to cast out evil spirits, to announce the kingdom of heaven. They go out in his name, equipped to do his work, to be his presence in the world. But Jesus also tells them, and us, to be prepared for misunderstanding and rejection. It's all a part of following him. If he was misunderstood and persecuted, it shouldn't surprise us if we are treated in the same way. Even when we offer Jesus' message of love and grace, we may face resistance—maybe even from those closest to us, in our families or our communities. But we are not to lose heart. He is clear: What happened to him will happen to those who walk in his way, but he still sends us out empowered by his Spirit. And he sends us not as distant messengers, but as his apprentices. Christ in us—his presence moves through our actions, our words, our lives. He asks us to see the world as he sees it: through the eyes of the Father, with a heart determined to restore, heal, and make new. We are to take that compassion, that vision, and move out into the world with it. That is our calling—to show up, to represent his credentials, and to live out his compassion. This journey will not always be easy. It may involve suffering, rejection, or leaving things behind. But Jesus promises that life—true and abiding life—is found when we give ourselves to him and his mission. If we lose our life for his sake, we will find it. Let's respond to his sending. Let's go into the world, our neighborhoods, our workplaces, our homes, with his credentials and compassion. Let's seek to see as he sees, to love as he loves, and to bring his message of hope and healing. He is with us. Christ is in you. Go with great joy in the power of the Spirit. That is a prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that is a prayer I have for you. May it be so. EVOTION: TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In today's episode, host Hunter invites us on day 113 of our yearlong journey through the Bible. Together, we'll explore the dramatic story of David, Nabal, and Abigail in 1 Samuel 25-26, reflect on David's heartfelt prayer in Psalm 63, and witness powerful moments of healing, compassion, and forgiveness in Matthew chapter 9. As we read, Hunter encourages us to open our hearts to God's mercy, reminding us that Jesus responds to both our physical and spiritual needs—not with demands for sacrifice, but with an invitation to show mercy and receive his love. Stay tuned as we pray together, find strength for the day ahead, and remember that love showed up for you—because you are loved, no doubt about it. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There are needs everywhere. Jesus acknowledges these physical needs without excluding our spiritual needs, the needs of our soul and heart. He sees our need for forgiveness, healing from shame, and regrets. There, he has compassion. There, he reaches out. There, he heals, and there, he forgives. He says to the paralytic, "Be encouraged, my child. Your sins are forgiven." The same is true in our lives. He sees our physical needs, and he sees and responds to our spiritual need—our need for forgiveness, our need for wholeness and healing. He has come to show mercy. In Matthew 9:13, he says, "Now go and learn the meaning of this scripture: I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices. For I have come not to call those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners." He wants us to think about it, to consider the meaning of this scripture. Because so often, our thoughts automatically turn toward what we must do to earn favor with God. We ask ourselves, What must I sacrifice? How might I perform in order to be made right with him? But when our thinking goes there, we miss the point. Jesus tells us to think again— to go and learn the meaning of the scripture: "I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices." Your demonstration of mercy, your heart for others, is evidence that you understand the heart of God— that he has come to sacrifice himself on our behalf, to heal us. He's not looking for our religious sacrifices; he did what we could not. He brought healing, forgiveness, and hope. He came for the unrighteous, not for those who think they are righteous by the things that they do. God wants me to raise my eyes and see what he sees: the blind, the sick, the bleeding— all people needing his compassion and his life. When we see the way God sees, when we look with his eyes in his spirit, the same response wells up within our own hearts. We have compassion, and we go out and work in the fields alongside him. We participate with him. We are empowered by him. That is what God is up to here. He wants us to see what he sees, and he invites us to join him in the fields, working alongside him with his power, his strength, his joy. And that's a prayer that I have for my own soul. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. That's the aching question at the heart of Matthew 8 and, if we're honest, the question many of us quietly carry. The leper wonders, “Is God willing?” The Roman officer, seeking help for his servant, quietly asks the same. The crowds gathered at Peter's house come, each with the desperate hope that God's compassion and power are not reserved for someone else—but will reach even them. Deep down, all of us want to know: Will God cross the distance? Is He willing to touch us at our lowest, at our most unclean and unworthy? So much in our world, and even our religion, tries to sell us the lie of separation—that God is far off, distant, too holy to come near our mess. We get the message that God will keep his distance until we make ourselves acceptable, that we are always just out of reach. But that is not the gospel. The gospel is the declaration that God is not removed. In Christ, He draws near—He steps across every boundary, he sits with us in our worst, he touches what others would call untouchable, and he makes us clean. In answer to every fearful, doubting heart, Jesus says, “I am willing.” He unmasks the lie of separation with the reality of his compassion and presence. God, in Christ, is not far off from you. He is willing, he is present, and he has set his heart to set you free. Where you are right now is not too far. Your struggle, your shame, your uncleanness—none of it keeps him away. The good news is not only that God can restore and heal, but that God desires to do so, and he is already with you, closer than your breath. My prayer today is that I might be rooted more deeply in this union with Christ, that the lie of separation would lose its grip on my heart and mind. That's my prayer for my family—for my wife, my daughters, my son. And it's my prayer for you: that you would know, in the depths of your being, that God is willing, God is near, and you truly are loved. May it be so. Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In today's episode for April 21st, 2025, your host Hunter guides us through day 111 of our journey through the scriptures. Together, we'll explore First Samuel 24, Psalms 57 and 58, First Chronicles 8, and Matthew 8. This episode dives deep into dramatic moments—David spares Saul's life in the cave, the heartfelt songs and pleas of David in the Psalms, rich genealogies tracing the descendants of Benjamin, and several of Jesus's remarkable miracles: healing the leper, the Roman officer's servant, and calming a raging storm. Hunter not only reads and reflects on these passages, but also shares an encouraging message about the willingness and compassion of God. He confronts the lie of separation, reminding us that God is not distant, but present and loving—no matter where we find ourselves. Wrapping up, he leads us in heartfelt prayers and urges us to root ourselves in the good news of Jesus. So grab your Bible, settle in, and join us as we lean into the joy and assurance that we are deeply loved by God. In today's special Easter Sunday episode, Heather guides us through day 110 of our journey in the scriptures, reminding us of the hope and joy found in the resurrection—He is risen indeed! Together with listeners from around the world, we dive into First Samuel 23, Psalm 31, Psalm 54, and Matthew 7, seeking to see Jesus as the true source of life. Heather offers thoughtful reflection on what it means to live out the gospel, emphasizing that Christ's transforming love is a gift we receive, not something we earn. As we pray and meditate on God's word, we're encouraged to trust our good Father, live with love and courage, and let the joy of the Lord be our strength. Join us as we meditate, pray, and celebrate the risen life of Christ together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught, yet only a few seem to find it. Only one truly lived that way. He is the door through which we must pass in order for that kind of life to be possible for us. But the gateway to life is very narrow, and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. Unless we die to our own efforts and come to Jesus for that life, we will miss the kingdom entirely. The road is difficult because it requires us to die to our own selfish way of life. That is why few ever find it. He is the gate into kingdom life. Living a life where we are doing unto others what we would like them to do to us is the gospel working itself out in us. The spirit of Christ transforms our very character, and that is a gift from our good father. It's not something earned, strived for, or sweated out to obtain. No. It's a gift from God. It's a gift accomplished for humanity on the cross. His resurrection life in and for us is what we are celebrating this Easter day. As children, we are to trust our good father. He won't give us a snake if we ask for a fish. He knows how to give good gifts that get to the essence of our very life and come after our heart. He is a good father who gives his children good gifts. This is the good news, the gospel. Ours is to wake up to the reality that he is the good thing, our true life that alone can transform us from the inside out. Ours is to welcome the gospel that transforms us, making us people that love our neighbor as ourselves. We are to seek, knock, find, and pursue him with all our heart, mind, strength, and soul by the power of his Spirit. Then we will begin to experience the heart of our good Father, and he will produce in us the good fruit of good trees. He empowers us to live the way we were always intended to live. Allow God, through his spirit, to transform you. His life in you is what makes you a good tree that produces good fruit. Live with the awareness that your father is good. May that be our prayer and our pursuit today. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In today's episode, your host Hunter invites you to join him on day 109 of our journey through the Bible. Together, we'll explore the dramatic story of David and Jonathan's friendship and loyalty in 1 Samuel 20–21, reflect on David's psalm of praise and trust in Psalm 34, and listen to the timeless and challenging words of Jesus in Matthew 5 as he delivers the Sermon on the Mount. Hunter draws powerful connections between the Old and New Testaments, showing how Jesus fulfills the law with a message rooted in love. We'll close with heartfelt prayers for peace, guidance, and the grace to live out God's love each day. Whether you're opening your Bible for the first time or continuing a lifelong journey, this episode promises encouragement, reflection, and practical inspiration for your walk with God. Let's dive in! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jesus, the fulfillment of the law, shows us the heart of God. As we open up the scriptures today and listen to Jesus on the mountainside, delivering his most well-known sermon, the Sermon on the Mount, we encounter a powerful truth. Matthew helps us see a profound contrast—Moses went up Mount Sinai and brought the law, the Ten Commandments, to the people. Now, Jesus ascends a mountain, but he comes with a better message: a message not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it, to bring it to its true purpose. So many of us find ourselves thinking that if we can just keep the law, we'll be alright with God—as if our life is conditioned on our performance. But Jesus turns this understanding upside down. He fulfills the purpose of the law, showing us that it was always meant to lead us to love. Love is the heart of the matter. Jesus, the far better Moses, draws us right to what matters most—loving God and loving others. Everything else flows from that. We hear Jesus calling us to a life that goes beyond mere rules. “Love your enemies. Pray for those who persecute you. Be salt, be light, pursue justice and mercy. Let your good deeds shine so that all may praise your Heavenly Father.” This is not a burdensome call, but an invitation to the very life of God. It's the way of love, and by the power of Christ in us, we can walk in it. Our entry into this way of life isn't based on our ability to keep the law, but on our willingness to experience the love of God for ourselves. When we receive his love, it transforms us from the inside out. That's what enables us to live the life Jesus describes—a life shaped and fueled by the love of God. May God help us to experience him deeply, for God is love. That's the prayer I have for my own soul, for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son—and for you, dear ones. May we be people who walk in the way of love, the way of Jesus, and may it be so among us. Amen. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. In today's episode, host Hunter invites us on day 108 of our journey through the Bible, drawing our attention to the living Word—Jesus. We begin with the drama of 1 Samuel 19, where David's life is under threat from Saul, and witness Jonathan's loyalty and God's surprising interventions. Our reading continues through detailed genealogies and stories of faithfulness in 1 Chronicles 7, and then we pause with Psalm 59—a song David penned while fleeing danger, crying out for God's protection and celebrating his unfailing love. The episode concludes with Jesus' wilderness temptation in Matthew 4, showing his unwavering dependence on the Father and his victory over evil, inviting us all into union with God's love. Hunter wraps up with thoughtful reflections, prayer, and encouragement for purposeful soul work, reminding us that transformation happens as we walk together in faith. So, settle in and let today's Word point your heart to the One who loves you—no doubt about it. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Jesus is out in the desert being tempted by Satan. In the desert, he's demonstrating his union and dependence on his Father and the Spirit. On the outside, it seems that he's alone. And after forty days of no food, on the outside, it might seem that he's becoming weak. And this is the point of Satan's attack. When it appears that he is alone and weak, he challenges Jesus to break with his Father and the Spirit, to save himself, to get what he came for, to abandon the community of love that he shares with his Father and the Spirit, to take the throne of solitary and sovereign power. This, of course, is where Adam failed. He abandoned the community of love for solitary and sovereign control. And this is where you and I fail. But where we fail, Jesus will not. Seeing our need, he comes and does what we cannot. And because he overcomes, he wins for us our place back into the community of love. Jesus would not be deterred. He would overcome the temptation by demonstrating his union and utter dependence upon his Father and the Spirit. He would win these battles, and he would win the war. And because he won the war on the cross, all of humanity has been invited into God's community of love. And now he invites us to participate with him, with the Father and the Spirit, victorious with him over the evil one, ready to live a life of dependence upon God, living in the reality of our union with God in Christ. Union and communion. Victory and joy are ours. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Hunter reflects on the powerful declarations of God's love for humanity through Jesus, reminding us that we are loved and belong to God. He guides us in a moment of prayer, inviting us to seek mindfulness and divine presence in our lives. We conclude with gratitude for the partners who make this podcast possible. Join us as we continue our journey, setting intentions to live a mindful and prayerful life. Let's dive in! TODAY'S DEVOTION: This is my dearly loved son who brings me great joy. These are the first words we hear the father speak over the son. And through Christ, they are words that have been spoken over all people all over the Earth. God has declared his love for all humanity. He's declared his love for you. So here in this declaration, the heart of the father for all people everywhere, broken, lost, sinner people like you and me, Jesus comes to do all that is needed so that every man, woman, and child can be embraced into the triune love of father, son, and holy spirit. So all humanity can experience the love that is shared in the godhead. So we can be one as they are one. Hear the declaration of what is. Hear the proclamation that you are loved by god. This is not a proposition. God's love and your position as daughter, as son, is not a great opportunity for you if you believe enough or you get your act together enough. It is a declaration of what is. You are loved. You are his. And that is great news. Let's hear this declaration well today and move out into the world, learning, discovering how to live out who we have become. May God give us wisdom, and may God give us joy as we live out this gospel in him. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome back to the Daily Radio Bible podcast, where we journey together through the scriptures every day. I'm Hunter, your host, brother, and Bible reading coach, here to guide you as we dive into the wild, wonderful, and sometimes strange world of the Bible. Today, we're starting our exploration in 1 Samuel 17, where the legendary tale of David and Goliath unfolds, showcasing God's love for transforming situations and overturning odds with faith and courage. Then, we turn to Psalm 9, a heartfelt song of praise from David himself, celebrating God's justice and protection. Finally, we wrap up in Matthew 2, with the story of the wise men visiting the newborn king, and how God orchestrates events for the preservation of His son amid dangerous times. Join us as we uncover the affirmations of God's power in overcoming giants, and how these timeless lessons resonate with us today. Let's get into God's word and let it speak life into our hearts. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God seems to really enjoy reversals where the weapons of an enemy are used against the enemy himself. God has a way of reversing the supposed strength of giants to achieve his victory. Goliath stood defiantly over the people of God. This giant was not just a huge human being. He also had weapons of war. But a young man named David, God's anointed man, had nothing other than a few smooth stones, a sling, and faith in a God who delights in reversing the strengths of the enemy into weakness. He believed in the God of reversals. So with only a few stones and a sling, God defeated this well-armed giant. The psalmist David says this over and over again. They have dug a pit in my path, but they themselves have fallen into it. The greatest of all reversals is seen in the cross, a weapon used by the giant enemy of our souls to crucify our Lord. And yet the cross was the very instrument that won our victory from sin, death, and the grave. The cross is the greatest reversal of all. God's in the business of reversing things, and today is a good day to remember this and rejoice in it. As on Saturday, the day before Easter, this was a dark and silent day when it looked like the giant had won. In fact, the taunts of the giant were the loudest that had ever been heard. But on Sunday, if we look carefully, we can see God's appointed shepherd. Not a boy, but a man. And this man was far better than David. He was the rock that made men stumble, the stone that made giants fall. And he has won the victory. And because of this greatest of all reversals, people from all around the world, like you and me, broken people from every tribe and nation and tongue, can experience the power to overcome one giant after another. God brings about that great reversal for you and me on the cross. Whatever giant you're facing can be faced today, not with swords or spears or javelins, but in the name of the Lord of heaven's armies. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. That's the prayer that I have for you. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast, where today we celebrate over one hundred days of journeying through the scriptures together. Join Hunter, your Bible reading coach, as he reflects on the transformative power of this habit, emphasizing that while the Bible itself doesn't save us, it points us to Jesus, the true source of salvation and the healer of our souls. Dive into today's readings from First Samuel, First Chronicles, and the beginning of Matthew's gospel, exploring stories of kings, prophets, and the lineage of the Messiah. Hunter shares insights on how God's anointing oil, unlike the world's oil, brings true peace, hope, and love. As we journey through scripture, let us continue to grow in understanding and devotion, keeping our hearts open to the work of the Spirit in our lives. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The world's oil is not what we truly crave. In our world today, oil is a symbol of power and influence. It establishes kingdoms and directs economies. People wage wars over it, lives are shaped and shattered by its value. But in reality, the world's oil cannot provide what we desperately need. It cannot bring us peace, offer us hope, or fill us with love. It does not have the power to transform the human heart. Yet God's oil is entirely different. It comes from a humble olive, representing His presence. This oil signifies the peace, hope, and love that only He can provide, transforming every heart it touches. In today's reading, the moment Samuel anointed David with oil, it was more than a physical act; it was a representation of God's divine presence and approval. David stands as a symbol of the anointed one, pointing us to Jesus – the ultimate expression of God's loving presence. Jesus, the true anointed one, was sent to offer the world an overflowing abundance of peace, hope, and love. According to the scriptures, He was born of a virgin, lived among us, was crucified, died, buried, and then rose from the dead. Now, He offers the oil of His spirit – His presence – to all of us. This anointing transforms us into lights in this dark world, filling us with His peace, hope, and love. Let us embrace the spirit's presence within us as we glow with His light and share His love with the world. Hallelujah. That's a prayer I hold close for my own soul, for my family, and for you too. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to another episode of the Daily Radio Bible, where we're journeying through the scriptures together, illuminating the path to Jesus – the true source of our life. I'm Heather, your guide this Sunday, joining your hearts with listeners from around the world as we dive into the Word and seek to draw closer to Christ. Today, we reflect on the stories woven through 1 Samuel 14, 1 Chronicles 4, and 2 Corinthians 13. From Jonathan's brave acts that bring about divine interventions and spark courage among warriors, to the genealogical heritage that connects us to our past, and finally, to Paul's earnest exhortation to the Corinthians to live in joy, maturity, and harmony. As we warm ourselves around the fire of God's love, our prayer remains that we embody the life of Christ in all we do and experience His transformative power in our lives. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's explore these timeless truths together. Remember, no matter where you are or what you're facing, you are loved and supported. Let's get started! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Let us embrace the call to examine ourselves. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Corinthians, beckons us to a profound spiritual practice—self-examination. We are invited to reflect on our lives and test the authenticity of our faith. This is not just a passive glance but an introspective journey into the core of our being. What do we find when we pause and truly look at our faith? Are we seeing the life of Christ at work within us? Are we participating in His saving and abiding presence in our lives and the world around us? Paul's exhortation to the Corinthians is just as relevant to us today. He asks us to recognize that Christ resides within us, to see the evidence of His power and authority at work. This recognition is not meant to be burdensome, but instead serves as an invitation to celebrate the wondrous reality that our lives can be expressions of His divine love and power. We are called to be joyful, mature, and encouraging, living in harmony and peace—a reflection of the transformative presence of Christ within us. As we take inventory of our spiritual journey, let us remember that the examination of our faith is a growing process—a journey that involves being vulnerable, honest, and willing to change. It is an invitation to align ourselves more closely with Jesus, opening our hearts to His work and allowing His love to permeate every aspect of our lives. Embrace these words of guidance and let them illuminate your walk with Christ. Join in His work through you and me—let His living presence in us be the message we proclaim to the world. Let your evaluation of faith not merely be a day of thought but a lifetime of joyful discovery and commitment to His calling. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my community, and that's a prayer that I have for each of you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Today, we continue our journey through the scriptures with Day 102. Hunter, will be guiding us through readings from First Samuel 13, First Chronicles 2 and 3, and Second Corinthians 12. Together, we'll explore stories of leadership and challenges faced by Saul, discover the lineage detailed in First Chronicles, and delve into Paul's reflections in Corinthians about relying on God's grace amidst his own struggles. Join us as we dive into the word, seeking wisdom, encouragement, and a deeper understanding of God's presence and love in our lives. Whether you're at home, on a walk, or commuting, we're glad you're here with us on this spiritual journey. So grab your Bible and let's get into today's readings! TODAY'S DEVOTION: What do you really want? Is it comfort, security, pleasure, recognition? Maybe it's something related to your family. Maybe you want healing for a child or a spouse for yourself. Paul wanted something too. He wanted it badly. He pleaded for it. He wanted this thing that was bothering him to stop. He called it his thorn in the flesh. And the origins of this thing came from Satan himself, we're told. We're not exactly sure what it was, but the description seems to cover all the bases. We all have needs, physical and spiritual needs, and we all end up crying out to God, asking him to deliver us, to take that thing, to correct that thing, to heal that thing, whatever that thing is, and we see that Paul was no different. He pleaded and pleaded and continued to plead. Whatever it was, Paul felt that it was holding him back. This is what Paul really wanted. He saw God delivering and providing and doing miracles that were both spiritual and physical for others. Why didn't God do the same for Paul? Why doesn't he do the same thing for you, for me? Maybe it's because there's something Paul and you and I need that's more important than what we want. Paul needed to know the power of grace in his life. God tells Paul, not once, but three times, grace is what you need. My grace is perfected in your weakness. And so Paul began to treasure even his weaknesses because they became a doorway to the grace, the presence, the love of God. Maybe there's something that we need that's more important than what we want. And the prayer of my own soul to his is that I will have the wisdom, the courage, the grace to receive it. And that's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to this episode of the Daily Radio Bible, where we're diving into day 102 of our immersive journey through the Bible with your host, Hunter. Today, we take a look behind the pages of First Samuel chapters eleven and twelve, explore the genealogies in First Chronicles chapter one, and reflect on the profound insights from Second Corinthians chapter eleven. From Saul's stirring leadership in times of crisis, to the long lineage of faith, and Paul's candid testament of strength found in weakness, each reading brings its unique perspective on our walk in faith. We'll also spend time in prayer together, seeking guidance and strength for the day ahead. So, settle in as Hunter unravels the scriptures and invites you into a deeper experience of God's word. Let's continue to open our hearts and minds to the transformative power of these ancient texts. TODAY'S DEVOTION: It's an upside-down world. Paul's being lowered in a basket through a hole in the wall outside of the city. As he's being lowered, God is lifting him up. We've been invited into an upside-down world. It's a world where those who are lowered down are being lifted up, while those who lift themselves up are being lowered from within. Paul very briefly talks about his elevated days. He reminds his readers just how elevated he was, that he was like those super apostles. But Paul wants them to know that this elevated status did nothing for his soul. In fact, he was descending from within, even while on the outside, his status was soaring high. Paul tells us that it was while he was being lowered, descending on the outside, accused and scorned and whipped and stoned and shipwrecked, hungry alone on the outside, even as he was being lowered in a basket, it was in these moments that God showed himself most present in his life. It was there that Paul knew God's strength the most. He experienced God's love most intimately when he was being lowered in that basket outside the city. It was a defining moment for Paul. God does his deepest work in our lowering, and anyone, super apostle or not, who tells us otherwise, might want to be avoided. See God in the lowering. Experience the fellowship of his suffering there. He is faithful to bring about his good purposes in all of our circumstances. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will participate with him in faith, even in the lowering. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible Podcast, hosted by Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother in this journey through the scriptures. Today is April 10th, and we're diving into day 101 of our year-long journey through the Bible. Our passages include 1 Samuel chapters 8 through 10 and 2 Corinthians chapter 10. Today, we'll hear about the Israelites' request for a king and Saul's unexpected anointing, both physically impressive yet internally conflicted. We are reminded of Paul's appeal in 2 Corinthians that true authority comes from Christ and not worldly measures. Join us as we reflect on these powerful stories, pray together, and invest in our souls. Remember, as Hunter often says, you are loved—no doubt about it. Let's go forward in God's joy, letting it be our strength. Thank you for tuning in today, and don't forget to subscribe and share this podcast with your friends. Let's continue this journey together tomorrow. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Saul was head and shoulders taller than anyone else around him. Saul had the stature of a king, but he didn't feel like it. Not on the inside. Not in his heart. Others saw his physical stature, but God was looking at his heart. The people wanted a king, but God wanted a heart. So when the spirit of God came upon Saul, the scriptures tell us that that's what God did. He changed his heart. Now, Saul's part was simply to say yes to this gift of life, to begin to see himself for who he now was. He was chosen. He was a leader. He was God's anointed king. But deep down, there were things that kept him from truly embracing who God said he was. He felt like an imposter. He hid in the baggage, fleeing from all of it. Saul couldn't see it. There was a part of him that worked against himself and who he really was. He was tortured with internal contradictions, and his life was marked by anguish. Things were always complicated for Saul. But the life that Saul had been awakened to wasn't complicated. It was simple. It didn't require him to be tortured and anguished. It simply required him to say yes to God. Thank you, God. I invite you to live your life through me today, God, whatever that life may entail. When a person does that, they begin to live like a king, and it simply requires a yes to the new thing that God has done. To the new heart, for a heart that would simply trust. A heart that would be free. God is offering all of us something very simple today. Who you really are is hidden with God in Christ. You are who he says you are. You don't need to power up. You don't need to bluster or fake your way through to live up to the expectations of others. You can simply rest in him. You can say yes and thank you. You can choose to believe. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul today. Today marks a milestone in our journey through the Bible as we reach day 100. What an incredible century of days together, immersing ourselves in God's Word! In this episode, we dive into 1 Samuel chapters 6 and 7, Psalm 72, and 2 Corinthians chapter 9. Hunter, our devoted host, guides us with heartfelt reflections and an inspiring call to live as cheerful givers, much like the generous farmers that Apostle Paul speaks of. As we reflect on God's abundant provisions and the power of generosity, we'll also join in a time of prayer and thanksgiving. Tune in as Hunter encourages us to sow generously into the lives of others, reminding us of the joy found in giving. As always, the scriptures enlighten us, and this meaningful time spent in God's presence enriches our hearts. Thanks for joining, and let's continue this journey of listening and growing in faith together! TODAY'S DEVOTION: TODAY'S DEVOTION: Good farmers. Cheerful farmers. Paul draws a picture for us — a picture of how we should be living, inspired by the life of farmers. Interestingly, farmers, while they may not live extravagantly, possess an extravagant heart. Why, you ask? Because farmers have an understanding. They understand that from the seed, which comes from God, stems their bread. It's a portrait of reliance and gratitude. For us, the lesson is that everything we have, right down to the very seed, comes from God. He is our source, both the giver and the increaser. So, how are we sowing today? If we sow sparingly, the harvest will reflect that. But if we sow generously, the bounty will overflow. Paul's intention is not just agricultural; it's a divine principle. This truth governs not only fields but hearts. Being good and cheerful farmers, knowing everything is His, leads us to sow generously into the lives of others. For those in need, for those who require encouragement, and for those in God's fields. Participating with God's generous heart is thrilling — knowing it truly is better to give than to receive. This calling to be cheerful, generous sowers is a universal prayer. A prayer for our souls, our families, and for everyone. May God help us live out this call as good and cheerful farmers. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. I'm Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to accompany you on day 98 of our transformative journey through the Bible. Today, we're diving back into the historical and spiritual depths of scripture, focusing on pivotal stories and teachings that have shaped faith throughout time. We'll explore the call of young Samuel and the divine messages he received, the fierce battles involving the Philistines and the fate of the Ark of the Covenant, and we'll reflect on the profound words from Psalm 77. We'll also uncover lessons on generosity from the early churches in Second Corinthians chapter eight. Let's get ready to immerse ourselves in these timeless lessons and gain insights that can guide our lives today. Thank you for joining me on this journey of discovery and spiritual growth. Let's dive in. TODAY'S DEVOTION: You are rich. Did you know it? Paul says that those riches were achieved because someone else became poor, and that someone is Christ. Christ became poor so that by his poverty, he could make you rich. Jesus took our poverty upon himself in order to bestow on us his riches of sonship. That makes you wealthy. That makes you blessed. That makes you his. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because you are united with Christ. These are heavenly riches, but these spiritual riches work their way into our physical lives. They free us up to live generous lives here right now. And to the extent that we truly understand this will result in generous hearted living. Paul wants us to follow through with the generosity that was born in our hearts. He doesn't want us to stall out. He wants us to finish whatever it is that God inspired you to do. Maybe it's offering a meal to someone who's sick, spending time with someone who really needs it, giving financially to someone in need, helping to advance the cause of the gospel, as was the case of this particular passage. Whatever it is, don't stall out. Finish what God has inspired you to do. Live out your generous life because you are rich, and your spiritual wealth comes from him. May this inspire you to live out the riches that are yours in Christ. Don't stall out on those things that God inspires you to do, but rather live them out in the joy and the strength and in the presence of Christ who dwells in you. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul, and that's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Today, we're delving into Day 97 of our Bible journey, where our host Hunter leads us through readings from 1 Samuel chapters 1 and 2, Psalm 66, and 2 Corinthians chapter 7. This episode brings to life the heartfelt story of Hannah's longing for a child and the profound lessons of faith and promise that unfold in our daily walk with God. Join Hunter as he explores the intricate connection between our bodies, minds, and souls, encouraging us to invest in our spiritual health by taking moments of reflection and gratitude. With profound prayers and reflections, this episode serves as a gentle reminder of God's immeasurable love and promises of abundant life for all who seek Him. So, let's dive in and do some soul work together, embracing the joy and strength that comes from knowing you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Hannah wants a child. She's a childless mother, and she longs for life. We see this story time and time again throughout the Bible, the inability to conceive and have a child. Over and over, this story gets retold. Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Samson's mother, Hannah, Micah, and Elizabeth. All these women of the Bible all wanted life. They wanted a child. They wanted life because life is what we all want. It's what we're made for. And so they cried out, and God heard their cry. And God, in his great love, made a way for them to experience the life that they wanted. And God hears our hearts, all of us, when we cry out. Jesus tells us that he has come that we might have life and have it abundant. So let us be sure to call out to him to receive from him the life that he alone can give. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son, and that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. I'm Heather, and it's Sunday, April 6th, 2025 – day 96 of our journey through the scriptures. Gather around as we delve into the word, seeking illumination from the Holy Spirit and drawing closer to Jesus, the source of our life. Today, we'll explore the beautiful and epic love story found within the book of Ruth, specifically chapters three and four. We'll also be diving into the heartfelt words of David in Psalms 64 and 65, and wrapping up with the teachings from Second Corinthians chapter six. Join us as we witness how stories that begin with tragedy can transform into tales of eternal love and redemption. Let's warm ourselves around the fire of God's love and remember, you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Our lives are a tapestry woven by God, even when we perceive tangled threads and chaos. Looking at the life of Naomi in the book of Ruth, it begins with hardship, famine, and loss. Naomi even changes her name to Mara, meaning bitter, reflecting her feelings about her life's story. Many of us can relate to Naomi's early story filled with pain and displacement, seeing our own lives as narratives lined by tragedy. Yet, when faith is our compass, we encounter transformations we never imagined, as Ruth did. Ruth's unwavering commitment to Naomi and her God amidst uncertainties opened doors to a grand narrative—a powerful love story from which the lineage of King David arose, eventually leading to Jesus, the ultimate Redeemer. When Ruth said, "Your people will be my people, and your God my God," she planted seeds of faith that bloomed into an inheritance far greater than she could have envisioned. Jesus, our ultimate kinsman redeemer, has arrived in our own stories, not leaving them desolate but filling them with hope and redemption. Our Redeemer, far greater than Boaz, turns what we see as dead ends into vibrant paths toward love and purpose. It's a call today to hold firm to faith amidst trials, knowing that our journey is being crafted into a magnificent story of divine love. Our lives are not just for us but testimony to God's work, weaving redemption and love into every fiber, ultimately pointing back to Him. May we trust that our Redeemer lives, is active in our story, and in faith, let's step into this narrative of love woven by God, the master storyteller. That's a prayer I carry for myself, for my family, and for each of you. May we embrace and share our God-written stories. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to today's episode of the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey through scripture to uncover the wonders of God's love and presence in our lives. I'm Hunter, your host and Bible reading coach, here to guide you through today's passages. Our reading includes the heartfelt story of Ruth's loyalty, captured in the first two chapters of the Book of Ruth, where we join Naomi and Ruth on their journey back to Bethlehem. We'll also ponder the reflections of King David in Psalms 53 and 61, as he calls out to God for refuge and strength. Lastly, we'll explore Paul's insights in 2 Corinthians 5, where he speaks on the transformative power and reconciliation offered through Christ. Together, we'll delve into these texts, seeking God's wisdom and love as they light our path. So, grab your Bible, and let's get started on this enriching journey. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Paul says that he believes that Christ died for everyone. This is an inclusive statement that shakes us into realizing the grandeur of God's love for the entirety of humanity. Paul emphasizes that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. This was a monumental act that took place on the cross. Beyond just an act, it was a cosmic declaration of love for all, setting right what was broken since the time of Adam. This notion was earth-shattering for Paul, reshaping his view of God and others. “We no longer evaluate people the way we used to,” he exclaims. What does he see now? He sees that everyone is enfolded in the embrace of God—even if they haven't realized it yet. As an ambassador of this message, Paul pleads with people. He implores them: “Come back to God.” It's an invitation—an invitation to see, to hear, and to grasp what God has already done. To realize that this reconciling work includes us—it includes you. Today, my prayer echoes Paul's realization. I yearn to glimpse the breadth, the height, and depth of what God has done in Christ for everyone. That's what I hope for myself, for my family, for my wife and children, and yes, for you too. May we each, in our own lives, become bearers of this truth—a truth that changes everything. May it guide our hearts to live as new creations, renewed and reconciled by Christ's ultimate act of love. It's not just a message; it's a transformation that has already been accomplished, waiting for us to live it fully. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible on this beautiful April day, as we continue day 94 of our journey through the Bible. I'm your host, Hunter, your Bible reading coach, here to gather with you from around the world to explore the scriptures and enlighten our hearts with the warmth of God's love. Today, we delve into some intense and thought-provoking passages from Judges 19 through 21, and 2 Corinthians chapter 4, where we encounter the complexities and sometimes troubling accounts of the Old Testament. We are reminded, however, that God's character is fully revealed in the face of Jesus Christ, assuring us of His unwavering love and light. Together, we'll explore these scriptures, pray, and seek understanding, connecting deeply with each other and the spirit of God. So, let's prepare our hearts and minds for a time of reflection, prayer, and divine discovery. TODAY'S DEVOTION: You are a fragrant perfume. You are a letter. You are a fragile clay jar. Paul uses all three of these metaphors to describe the quality of our Christian life. Paul says that this clay jar that is our life contains a great treasure. And this treasure that dwells within us clearly demonstrates God's power and not our own. And that treasure is Christ himself living in you. The life within these jars of clay is Jesus, and we fragile clay jars are told to fix our eyes on Jesus. Fix our eyes on him. Because when we do, we see all that there is to know about God. When we read some of these accounts in the Old Testament, it can be so troubling. We can begin to question the very character of God. Did God tell them to do these things? That's what they thought. Sometimes the things that we say about God are more a projection of ourselves and our own hearts than they are of God's. We struggle to make sense of evil. Thankfully, the Lord does not leave us alone in our confusion. The Lord did not leave us in this darkness to ourselves. No. Paul tells us in today's reading in Corinthians that God said, let there be light in the darkness. And he's made that light to shine in our hearts so that we could know the glory of God who is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. God's character need not be questioned anymore. It has been revealed completely in the face of Jesus. There is no shadowy figure behind the face of Jesus. No. What we see is what we get, and what we get is light. We receive in him the perfect expression of love and life. And we now have this life within us, so let's keep looking at him. Even in the Bible, when we read stories that are just monstrous, let's keep looking at him. He is the exact representation of the heart of God. And that, my friend, is such good news. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will learn how to keep my eyes fixed, not just when I'm reading the Bible, but as I read life, as I live this life, the fragile clay jar that I am, we are, may God in his mercy show us his way. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. In today's episode, Hunter, your Bible reading coach, guides us through Day 93 of our journey through the Bible with insights and reflections that inspire and uplift. We'll delve into the book of Judges, starting with chapters 17 and 18, where we encounter the story of Micah and his self-made religious icons during a time when "everyone did what was right in their own eyes." Hunter ties this narrative to our lives today, highlighting how we often try to write our own life letters, forgetting the freedom and identity found in the new letter God has imprinted on our hearts. Next, we'll be lifting our spirits with the enduring message of Psalm 89, a psalm that praises the Lord's unfailing love and the covenant with David. Finally, we shift to Second Corinthians chapter 3, where Paul enlightens us on the transformative power of living by the Spirit and the new covenant, which gives life and freedom. Throughout this episode, Hunter emphasizes the power of gratitude, the importance of being grateful, and the profound truth that we are loved, free, and belong to God. Join us as we pray, reflect, and find encouragement together in today's reading. Don't forget to check in with yourself and foster an attitude of gratitude as we go forward in God's joy. Let's embark on this day with open hearts, ready to embrace the blessings that surround us. TODAY'S DEVOTION: God has written a new letter on our hearts. Imagine, for a moment, that your life could be summed up in the form of a letter. What would it say? In 2 Corinthians 3, Paul speaks to this idea, suggesting that our lives are a letter written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God. And it's this new letter that transforms everything about us. The old letter, the law, though glorious in its time, was temporary. It was etched in stone and was meant to guide but not to last forever. Contrast that with the new letter written on our hearts—it is life-giving, everlasting, and penned by the very Spirit of God. This scripture gives us a profound sense of freedom. It declares to us that we are loved, we are free, and we are His. Too often, like Micah from the book of Judges, we try to craft our own letters—our own narratives—building idols out of our ambitions and desires, doing what seems right in our eyes. Yet, these pursuits only lead to blindness, exhaustion, and dissatisfaction. They never satisfy and certainly never set us free. But God's new letter does the opposite. Permanently inscribed on our hearts, it helps us stand before God with confidence. Because through this letter, we know our true identity. We are no longer defined by what we can accomplish or create ourselves, but by the love and freedom granted to us by God. This knowledge gives us the confidence and peace our hearts yearn for. Live today knowing that God has set you free through His Spirit. Embrace the truth of the letter He has written on your heart. You are loved, you are free, and you are His. Let this truth be the anthem of your life—an anthem that leads you to live boldly in the confidence and identity God has lovingly penned for you. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S EPISODE: In a land overshadowed by strife, a man named Hunter emerges with a lineage rooted in resilience and divine intervention. Born in the town of Zorah, within the tribe of Dan, his story begins with his parents, Manoah and his wife, who longed for a child amidst years of oppression by the Philistines. For a time, it seemed they would remain childless, until an angel of the Lord appeared to his mother, promising the birth of a son despite her inability to conceive. This miraculous promise came with a vow—a commitment to purity, abstaining from wine, and living a life dedicated to the path set forth by divine guidance. Hunter's existence signifies hope and renewal in a tumultuous world, a testament to faith and the unfolding of unexpected blessings. TODAY'S DEVOTION: A life giving perfume. Paul says, that's what our lives are to be. Perfume is beautiful. It's treasured. It fills the senses. It revives us. It beautifies us. This perfume Paul's talking about goes even further. It gives life. This life giving perfume never evaporates or dissipates over time. Once poured out, it grows and multiplies. It fills the room. It fills the world. Its fragrance spreads through time, and it gives life to each new generation, each new civilization. This is eternal life giving perfume. It has been poured out on us, and we are to pour it out on others. On this Good Friday, we remember that God's life giving perfume was poured out in the life of our Lord Jesus upon the whole Earth as he hung from the cross, he gave himself so that he might offer radical forgiveness for all, that he might suffer on behalf of all, that that fragrant life would beautify all. So this day, may the spirit of Christ, the fragrance of his life, emanate from our souls into this world. May others be awakened to the fragrant life, the self giving, radically forgiving, co suffering life of our lord. May we all be awakened to this life that is ours in him today. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. In today's episode, Hunter takes us on a thought-provoking journey through the Bible. As we delve into Judges chapters 11 and 12, we encounter the story of Jephthah, a great warrior facing the challenges of rejection, leadership, and a heart-wrenching vow. We also traverse into Psalm 50, where God calls His people to genuine worship and thankfulness, and Second Corinthians chapter 1, where Paul shares about finding comfort amid suffering and the power of relying on God's presence. Hunter wraps up with heartfelt prayers and encourages us to lean on God's love and joy throughout our day. Join us as we explore God's word and reflect on how it speaks to our lives today. Let's dive in! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Given the option, I'll rely on myself every time. Given the choice, I'll hold on to control with the death grip until I reach the point of death. My guess is you know that grip well. Well, God wants us to go beyond the death grip and utter self reliance and move us into something entirely new. A life of dependence and trust in his presence. It appears in two Corinthians that God allows us to go through these near death experiences in order to break our grip and open our hands to his. Paul says that he thought he would never live through the difficulties he was experiencing. He said it was so bad he expected to die. The purpose of these experiences was that he would learn to stop relying on himself, and rather to trust in God who raises the dead. In other words, we learn to rely on the power of the resurrection, the power of Christ's presence with us, in us, to release our grip and hold on to him. There's no escaping suffering in this world and I wish that I could fully explain the meaning of suffering in our life, but I can't. But what I can do in the face of suffering and its reality is to look to the one who came and suffered with us and for us that he might give us hope beyond our suffering. That we might even have joy in life in the wake of our suffering. And God is still doing that even today. He's still suffering with us. That's the nature of love, to suffer with. The word compassion literally means to suffer with. God is the self-giving, radically forgiving, co-suffering one. That's the nature of his love. And when this love meets you at the deepest level, at your deepest loss, in your deepest shame, in your deepest wounds, he begins to mend you and to heal you and not only you, but those around you who are suffering. That's what Paul described here in verse six. He said, for when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. If you're suffering today and you have a death grip on those circumstances, open up your hand to His. Experience His love today and let Him begin to heal and mend and to make you new. That's the prayer that I have for you today. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to another heart-stirring episode of the Daily Radio Bible, with your host, Hunter, guiding us through the scriptures on this final day of March. As we journey through the books of Judges, Psalms, and First Corinthians, Hunter invites us to reflect on the choices we make. From the story of Abimelech and his fateful decisions in the book of Judges, to the wisdom of entrusting our lives to God's hands, this episode encourages us to choose God's way over our own. Alongside the powerful scripture readings, Hunter offers prayers for guidance and reminds us of the immeasurable love that redeems us through Jesus Christ. Join us as we conclude the month with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit attuned to God's direction. Let's delve into the Word and allow it to shape us, reminding us of the profound truth that we are deeply loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Will it be 70 coins or 70 brothers? Will it be my way or God's way? Abimelech, son of Gideon, had a choice that day. He could choose his 70 brothers or he could choose 70 coins, coins that would be used to hire those who'd kill his brothers. He could live life on God's terms or he could be king in his own eyes with those 70 coins. It seems God is always giving us the opportunity to reaffirm our decisions: to make this life about us or to make it about Him. I can choose my way or I can choose God's way. My way always leads to blindness. God's way will lead to awakening. And I will see God, his provision, his victory, God's peace. Abimelech should have known that. He should've seen that in his father Gideon's life, but he chose not to see it. He chose to see things his own way. Abimelech would choose the 70 coins. His 70 brothers and many others would soon lose their lives because of that. And Abimelech himself would lose his life. Abraham made a choice under a tree, an oak tree in Shechem, the same place where this story has taken place, and he chose God's way. Under that tree, he reaffirmed his covenant relationship with God, and through him came the birth of many brothers from every tribe, language, nation, and people. All over the world, people like you and me have been added to the family of God because someone like Abraham chose God's way and not his own. God's way was for his son, a descendant of Abraham, to come and choose his father over and over again, all the way to the cross. He offered himself on a tree so that we might have the power to choose God's way and experience God's love and life every day. God now lives in and through us because of the choice Jesus made for his father. Jesus choosing the way of the father has made a way for us to see, to be awakened to his life, his provision, his victory, his peace, and his grace. Today, let's choose his way. Let's choose life. Let's choose the son. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. In today's episode, Heather leads us on day 89 of our journey through the scriptures. Together, we'll be diving into stories from Judges chapter eight, Psalm 42, and First Corinthians 15, seeking to see Jesus and warm our hearts around the fire of God's love. Heather reminds us that the scriptures themselves are not our source of life, but they bear witness to Jesus, who is. With listeners gathering from all corners of the world, we invite the Holy Spirit to illuminate these passages and draw us closer to Christ. As we explore themes of victory, transformation, and resurrection power, may we be inspired to live in the power of the resurrection, experiencing change in our lives today through Christ in us. Join us, and let the journey through His word bring nourishment, peace, and joy to your day. You are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The resurrection changes everything. That's the wonderful secret. God is going to transform everything through the resurrection, and that resurrection power is available to us right here, right now. Let the transformation begin. We don't have to wait for the sound of the trumpet for the transformation to start. New creation has already begun. The victory has already been won by Christ himself, the second Adam. There is coming an ultimate transformation when this whole world, all creation, will be transformed with that same power that raised Christ from the dead. But right here, right now, you can begin to experience change in your own life through the power of Christ living in you. He is renewing your mind, healing your past, rehabilitating your imagination. Let the transformation begin even now through the power of Christ in you. That resurrection power is changing everything. Live in the power of the resurrection. Look to your Christ, the second Adam, who will turn this whole world right side up again someday. But until that day, allow the spirit to do his work in you, to fulfill his purposes through you. In this way, you will know his joy, and he will be glorified in you. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family and friends. And that's the prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome back, dear listeners, to another heartwarming journey through the pages of the Bible with your host, Hunter, your dedicated Bible reading coach. It's day 88 of our exploration, and today we've got a lot to unpack. We're diving into the compelling narratives of Judges chapters six and seven, where we'll witness Gideon, the unlikely hero, as he grapples with his calling and rises to become the mighty warrior God destined him to be. We'll explore the haunting beauty of Psalm 52, a psalm of David, that speaks to the power of words and the justice of God. And finally, we journey to the New Testament, reflecting on the profound teachings of 1 Corinthians 14, where Paul guides us on the pursuit of gifts that strengthen the church. As always, we are here to warm our hearts by the fires of God's love, as Hunter encourages us to find our identity in who God says we are — mighty, loved, and called. So join us in reflection, prayer, and embrace the blessings of our time together today. Let's lean in and experience the richness of God's word and presence in our lives. You are truly loved, and we're grateful to have you with us. Let's dive in! TODAY'S DEVOTION: You are who God says you are. God called Gideon a mighty warrior. He didn't feel like a mighty warrior. He felt like he was the least of the least. That's what he told the angel of the Lord. I come from the least of the tribes of Israel, and I am the least within my own family. That's not what God called him. God didn't call him the least of the least. He called him a mighty warrior. Regardless of how you feel, you are who God says you are. You might be beaten up, exhausted, and hiding like Gideon was. But like Gideon, God will come and find you. He comes looking for people just like that. So that he might prove himself strong through us, he delights in making the least the greatest. And he ultimately will win the victory for us, just as he did for the 300 trumpet-blowing Israelites. It was God who won that victory. It was God who was showing himself strong among the least. In the end, it is God who says who we are. If he chooses to call you mighty warrior, then that, my friend, is who you are. Have you heard him call you daughter, son, friend? Well, that's who you are. You are who God says you are. So listen and receive the blessing of the name that he has given you. There's gonna be a time coming when we stand before God. In Revelation, we're told that there's a gift for those who overcome. It is a white stone, and on it will be written a name that no one understands but the one who receives it. You are who God says you are. So live in the light of that, Receive the blessing of it. And rise up into what he's calling you to do. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the latest episode of the Daily Radio Bible podcast with your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach. It's March 28th, 2025, and we're on day 88 of our journey through the Bible. Today, we dive into Judges chapters 4 and 5, exploring the leadership and faith of Deborah and Barak. We'll also reflect on the beautiful but sobering words of Psalm 39 and 41, and discover the timeless virtues of love in 1 Corinthians 13. Throughout the episode, Hunter encourages us to let love, as revealed through Jesus, animate our lives with purpose and meaning. So, open your hearts as we listen to these scriptures and let them point us to the one who is the living word of God. Let's embark on this spiritual journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: In our reading in Psalm 39 today, we hear these words, We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it. And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? Such sobering words are echoed in the verse of Shakespeare where we read this. Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day, to the last syllable of recorded time, until all our yesteryears have lighted fools, the way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle. Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. Mere moving shadows, poor players strutting themselves about the stage, days filled with sound and fury, all of it meaning nothing. Whether it is the pursuit of the arts or power, prestige, pleasures, making a name for yourself, all of it in and of itself is laden with nihilism. It all renders down to nothing apart from this, apart from love. Paul tells us here very clearly that love is what animates our days with meaning. Love imbues every gesture in life with the eternal, and love's kind was revealed to us in the flesh in the life of Jesus. And so we look to him, friends. We look to him as the model of our life in love. It is a self-giving life, a radically forgiving life, a co-suffering life, a life that is patient and kind, not jealous, not boastful, not proud, nor is it rude. It doesn't demand its own way. It's not irritable, and it keeps no record of wrongs. It doesn't rejoice about injustice, but rejoices when the truth wins out. It never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through everything. So by his grace, dear friends, let us be reminded today that love can deliver us from a meaningless life and that God himself has gifted us with his love. Welcome to another episode of the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey through the scriptures together. Today is March 27th, 2025, and I'm your host, Hunter, your brother, and Bible reading coach. As we gather to warm our hearts by the fires of God's love, we dive into the pages of the Bible, starting today with the book of Judges, chapters one through three, and wrapping up with First Corinthians, chapter 12. In Judges, we recount the ongoing journey of the Israelites from the conquests led by Judah to the leadership provided by the judges. We see the stories of victory, lessons learned, and repeated cycles of disobedience and redemption. This narrative reminds us of the importance of faithfulness and the consequences of turning away from God. Moving to First Corinthians, Paul discusses the diverse spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit, emphasizing unity within the body of Christ. Every believer has a part to play—a unique note to add to God's symphony. We are all part of God's grand masterpiece, crafted with purpose and deeply valued by Him. Join me in a time of prayer as we seek to live out our roles as part of God's divine symphony, embracing both our humanity and our participation in His divine nature. Let's immerse ourselves in the divine rhythms and discover what it means to be part of God's amazing poetic masterpiece. So, grab your Bible, settle in, and let's dive into this enlightening word together. You're not alone on this journey. You are loved, and I am glad for your company. Let's get started! TODAY'S DEVOTION: You have a part to play. You have your own note to add to God's great symphony. You get to add your sound to God's amazing symphonic masterpiece. We actually get the word personality from the Latin word persona, literally meaning your sound. God has created you to offer your own note. He wants you to offer your sound to his great song. In Ephesians 2:10, it says, "We are God's masterpiece." That word masterpiece in the Greek is "poiema," which means poem. And God has expertly crafted you to be right in the place where you are, to be who you are. In learning to play our part, we must learn to accept our own humanity. And you should do this because God has. God has accepted your humanity. He's accepted all of humanity. He became one of us. Beyond that, he knows you. He knows all your secrets. He knows how frail you are. As the prophet says, "He knows that we are but dust." But he also knows that now, in Christ, you have become a partaker in the divine nature of God himself. You are deeply valued and cherished by God. And part of our journey is learning to discover what it means to be a partaker in the divine life of God. This does not mean that you are God, but it does mean that God has embraced you into his life. You are his child. We must learn both of these things as we learn to play our part in God's symphony: our humanity and our participation in God's divinity. And that lived out will begin to look like the giving of oneself, being radically forgiving in life, and learning to suffer alongside those who are in pain. Self-giving, radically forgiving, co-suffering love. This is what it looks like to live as the masterpiece that you really are. And that's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. Today is March 26th, and you are joining us on day 86 of our journey through the Bible, guided by your host and Bible reading coach, Hunter. Together, we will delve into the rich passages of Joshua chapters 23 and 24, Psalm 44, and 1 Corinthians 11. In this episode, Hunter explores the theme of faithfulness, reflecting on Joshua's charge to the Israelites and their bold declarations to serve the Lord. However, as Hunter reminds us, it was Christ who truly fulfilled what we could not, offering us the gift of life through His finished work. As we meditate on these scriptures and join in prayer, let this time be a source of comfort and strength, reminding us of God's presence and love in our lives. So, wherever you are, settle in as we spend these moments together in God's Word and in prayer. Enjoy today's episode! TODAY'S DEVOTION: We will serve the Lord—or so we say. This was the bold proclamation of the Israelites to Joshua. They promised their unwavering allegiance to God. Yet, Joshua challenged their declaration, asserting their inability to uphold such a promise. The cry of the flesh is loud—boasting of what it will do. Even Peter, in his own resolve, stated he would never disown the Lord. But before the rooster crowed, his flesh betrayed his resolve three times. Human resolve can be a frail thing; the flesh is prone to failure. What we truly need is someone who has already accomplished what we cannot. Enter our Lord Jesus. He didn't just promise obedience—He lived it. He perfectly upheld the covenant that Adam and all his descendants couldn't. Jesus served His Father completely, from beginning to end. He did it, and with His final breath, declared, "It is finished." Therefore, as followers of Christ, let us move away from the notion of what we will do, and rest in the confidence of what has been done. Jesus has accomplished it. It is finished. His work allows us to remain in the land, in Him, in His promises, and in life. Every day, remind your heart that He has done it. This is a prayer I hold for my own soul, for my family—my wife, daughters, and son—and for you. May it be so, as we continue to live in the victory secured by Christ. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to today's episode of the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey together through the scriptures, letting God's word speak to our hearts. I'm your host, Hunter, and on this 84th day of our trek through the Bible, we're diving into the book of Joshua, chapters 21 and 22, Psalm 47, and 1 Corinthians 10. Today, we'll explore how the Israelites obeyed God's commands, dividing the land among the Levites through sacred lots. We'll also witness a tense moment among the tribes as potential conflict is resolved through understanding and faith. Then, we'll look to the New Testament for Paul's reminder of the struggles we face and the victorious life we are offered through Christ. Join me as we walk through these passages and open our hearts to the transformative love of God. Let's get started! TODAY'S DEVOTION: Paul is reminding us that we all struggle in the desert. We all experience temptation. In the Old Testament, the struggle in the desert took these people out. They failed to believe. They failed to enter into what God had done and who they now were. They were God's special possession. God had delivered them out of slavery into freedom. God had given them a land as their own, but they succumbed to the temptation of unbelief, and it resulted in their bodies being littered across the wilderness. They never realized who they were and how they were to exist, but not for us. Paul doesn't want us to get confused and think that these desert wanderings are some kind of example for us or to think that it is somehow analogous to us, to the normal Christian life to struggle and die in the wilderness, to struggle and fail with temptation, to have our bones littered about in the desert. No. The normal Christian life that Paul is pointing us to is the life of Christ living and abiding in you, the victorious life. Overwhelming victory has happened in Christ on the cross. Where Adam failed, Christ has won. First Corinthians fifteen twenty one says, for since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being. For as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ Jesus. The consequences of Christ's victory have fundamentally altered your being. You are no longer a slave. You are his special possession. You're his child. And this act of deliverance wasn't just for some obscure little tribe in North Africa. No. It was done for all humanity. You are in him. You have been drawn into the very life of God. This is the truth of your being, and it's all a gift. Will you have challenges? Will you have temptations and suffering in this life? Yes, you will. But that does not change what has happened to you. And the spirit's life in you now has made a way for you to endure through all these struggles in the grace and the peace of our Lord. Second Peter one four says, god has enabled you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires. The truth of our being is that Christ has made us partakers of his divine nature. The way of our being is now empowered by the nature of god himself, his presence in you. And here's the thing. I can go on and on talking about this. And some of you are thinking that maybe I have. But the truth is this, only god can reveal god. And so my prayer today is that god will reveal himself to you. He'll reveal the truth of your being to you that you will begin to realize what he did on that cross has changed everything. You are his. You are forgiven. You are loved. You are made new. You've been given freedom, and you've been given a new land to live in, a land that is flowing, flowing with life in him. As the revelation of Christ breaks forth in your heart, in your mind, you'll have a new power to live a new way, the way of faith and hope and love. It will be a self-giving life, a radically forgiving life, a co-suffering life. It'll be the cruciform life of Christ living his life in and through you. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. And that's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. I'm your host, Hunter, your Bible reading coach, here to guide you through our daily journey in the scriptures. Today marks day 83 of our biblical exploration, where we'll delve into the book of Joshua chapters 18 through 20 and then turn our attention to 1 Corinthians chapter 9. We'll uncover the sacred narrative of land allotment among the tribes of Israel and explore the profound teachings of the Apostle Paul. As we walk through these passages, we'll reflect on the manifold ways God's word speaks to our lives today, urging us to seize the blessings He has set before us and to live intentionally in His purpose. Join me as we embark on this spiritual journey together, allowing the Bible to be our guide and comfort. Let's dig deep into these passages and discover the rich wisdom and grace they have to offer us. Grab your Bible, settle in, and let's listen to God's voice together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The lesson of the ox. In the Bible, we have these strange obscure laws like don't muzzle an ox while it's threshing grain from Deuteronomy 25. And yet within these strange and obscure sayings, there are layered implications. God is speaking to farmers about treating their animals with care, but he's also picturing for us something more, something deeper. He's including these things for us, not just for the farmer. He wants to teach us something, about the way we should treat those who serve or care for us, who work on our behalf, who even work on behalf of our soul. So when we read through the Old Testament, it seems unrelated to our everyday experience, and it often does. I mean, how does muzzling an ox have anything to do with me? When we read these things, we shouldn't dismiss them. We need to see them for what they are. Yes. He is speaking to a farmer. And, yes, Joshua is speaking to the tribes of Israel. But God is speaking to us too. It was written not just for them, but for us. God is pointing us to a deeper reading. And sometimes, that's an allegorical reading or an analogous reading. In fact, many of the church fathers felt that a “spiritual” reading of scripture was a higher form of engagement with the text. They welcome this creative allegorical interpretation of the text. Maybe God would have you chart out what he has in front of you. Maybe he would have you sit down and write out the boundaries of his blessings and gifts for you. Maybe you would find, as the children of Israel did, that there are unoccupied lands and gifts yet to be realized in your life. Maybe God is wanting you to chart them or to go out and seize them. There's a lesson in the ox. This whole Bible that we are reading is written for us. It's not just about oxen and writing reports. It's about what God has done for us. It's a revelation of Him. It's about the God who gave us his life and learning to seize and live in the reality of it. So maybe we can all chart out what God has actually done for us. And when we do that, let's go out and occupy it. Let's seize it. Let's live in the reality of who we are in Christ. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to another episode of the Daily Radio Bible, where your host, Hunter, guides us through the scripture, making space for divine insights and personal reflections. Today, we kick off with a heartfelt message from Alex, a long-time listener from Rotenfelds, Germany. Alex shares his spiritual journey, highlighting the transformative power of God's love—a theme that resonates throughout today's readings. We dive into the book of Joshua and the New Testament, where Hunter illuminates passages about land inheritance, identity, and the profound gifts God offers to His children. Whether you're tuning in from a bustling city or a quiet town, join us as we explore these timeless truths and engage in a moment of prayerful reflection. Remember, as Hunter always reminds us, you are loved. Let's jump right in. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Like many in our world, I grew up in a family with divorce. And there were times in my childhood when I was visiting my father where I didn't really feel at home. The home, its rooms, the yard, the toys, all of it really didn't feel like it was mine. It felt like they belong to someone else, to my step siblings. I felt displaced. I was an interloper. The point of this is not to blame any particular person for this. Sometimes these insecurities are just there. So for whatever reason, I failed to see myself for what I was, for who I was as the son of my father. And through the years, I've struggled with a diminished view of myself. I failed to fully understand my identity and hear the words of embrace and permission that are really offered to me by God. Words like the ones spoken by the tribe of Manasseh in today's reading. They were growing and they needed more land, and so they ask. The answer they get from Joshua when they ask was, take it. Take all you need. I marvel at things like this. I've often thought that to have more or to ask for more, well, that's for people for whom it was meant to be. People who are more deserving, more together, smarter, less broken than me. But Joshua doesn't say anything like that. To these people, he simply says, do you need more? Take all you need. We see the same kind of boldness from the five daughters of Zelophehad. I wonder whether these ladies had been taught by their father and mother to know how worthy and valuable they were. Even when the culture at that time would have said otherwise, somehow, they knew that they were worthy of their father's inheritance, and so they were bold enough to ask. They boldly come to Joshua and say, the Lord commanded Moses to give us a grant of land along with the men of our tribe. In other words, this is ours, and we're here to take it. I marvel at this courage and the clarity to see and to know who they really were. The same can be true for us, for all of us today. Because we have a good father who is making it clear how valuable you are and that you are worthy of his inheritance, not because you've lived up to some standard or you've been a good child, but because of who you are. You're family. You're his child, and he is good. We can have clarity and boldness to see and to take what is ours in Christ. Let these five daughters of Zelophehad speak to you today, and then reach out and take what is yours. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, for my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be yours, and may it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity.
