A sermon from Mark 1:1-8
In week two of the Trinity series at Cherry Hills Community Church, Pastor Gary Thomas reflects on the central role of Jesus Christ in the Christian faith and what it means to truly know and follow Him. He emphasizes Jesus as the foundation of hope, faith, and spiritual life, encouraging listeners to move beyond surface-level belief into genuine trust and devotion. Through personal experiences and biblical teaching, the message highlights the power of Christ to bring peace, purpose, and transformation. The sermon reminds the congregation that faith in Jesus shapes every aspect of life, from everyday struggles to eternal destiny. Ultimately, it calls people to respond in worship and commitment, embracing Jesus as the guiding center of their lives.
Message from Pastor AJ SwansonMatthew 16:13 - 20
Dr. Mitchell will be giving us a three point outline for verses in Mat.16:13-20. Jesus asked two questions. 1st was: who do people say the Son of Man is?The 2nd is: who do you say that I am?Peter gives the answer: You are the Christ the Sonof the living God. Can you say this about Jesus as He is revealed in the Scriptures? Dr. Mitchell exhorts us to consider it a point of wisdom to settle this question in one's own heart. In verse 17, Jesus reveals to Peter this revelation as being from His Father in heaven. This divine revelation of the Messiah is the rock upon which Jesus would build His church. The N.T. apostles and prophets then built on this revealed foundation of Christ Himself. Let's join Dr. Mitchell, Mat.16:13, on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.
What you believe about Jesus Christ shapes what you believe about everything else. In this message from The Apostles' Creed series, Pastor Roger Pettay unpacks the four powerful truths embedded in one short confession: “I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.” Discover what Scripture reveals about: • Jesus — truly human, our Brother and Mediator. • Christ — the Anointed One, our Prophet, Priest, and King. • His only Son — the unique, one-of-a-kind, eternal Son. • Our Lord — the divine, sovereign YHWH made known in Jesus. This message calls every believer to move beyond admiration to confession, allegiance, and obedience—to live under the gracious rule of Jesus Christ, our Lord. We continue our study of the book of Mark with a sermon that explains who Jesus is -- the Christ, the Son of God. We will see how Jesus often wanted people to remain silent after his miracles, and we will get the answer to "WHY THE SECRET?"
1. The Pre-Eminent Question of the High Priest 2. The Passionate Declaration of the Saviour 3. The Pathetic Reaction of the Council

When Peter confesses, "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God," he is not making a definitive statement about the deity of Jesus. When Peter calls Jesus "Christ," he is affirming that Jesus, as a descendent of David, is the final fulfillment of the promise of a king to sit on David's throne. When Peter calls him "Son of God," he does not mean by that title what we mean by that title. So what does Peter mean when he says to Jesus, "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God"? And why is it fair to say that Peter is saying more than even he himself understands he is saying about the person of Jesus Christ?
We continue our series called “The Trinity.” We will look at the three persons of the Trinity as we explore how we see God. Our message today is “Christ the Son.” Today we reflect on the way we see God as a friend and confidant. Let us celebrate the hope of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as we explore the Trinity. Our scripture readings come from Acts 20:18-28; Galatians 4:1-7; and Matthew 11:25-30. I am on vacation next Sunday, so there will be no recording for that day.

In Hebrews 1:1-14 the author compares the greatness of Christ to the angels. He proclaims that Christ is far greater than the angels because he is the Son of God. As the Son of God, Christ is fully equal to the Father. He is of the same substance, the same essence, being eternal, self-sufficient, immutable, immense, and incomprehensible in his greatness. This is the God we serve. This is our Savior: Christ, both fully God and fully man.

TALK 1 Grief: Friend or Foe? Tim Watkins Matthew 14:10-12 He sent and had John beheaded in the prison, 11 and his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother. 12 And his disciples came and took the body and buried it, and they went and told Jesus. 13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself. Grief is the primarily emotional process of reacting to loss We live in a grief avoidant society It is impossible to numb just one emotion Matthew 14:23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone TALK 2 Live Ready Carolyn Udall Matthew 24:37-39, 42-44 (NLT) 37 “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah's day. 38 In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. 39 People didn't realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes. 42 “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don't know what day your Lord is coming. 43 Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. 44 You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected. C.S. Lewis, Screwtape Letters: “The Christians describe the Enemy [God] as one 'without whom Nothing is strong'. And Nothing is very strong: strong enough to steal away a man's best years not in sweet sins but in a dreary flickering of the mind over it knows not what and knows not why, in the gratification of curiosities so feeble that the man is only half aware of them, in drumming of fingers and kicking of heels, in whistling tunes that he does not like, or in the long, dim labyrinth of reveries that have not even lust or ambition to give them a relish, but which, once chance association has started them, the creature is too weak and fuddled to shake off. You will say that these are very small sins; and doubtless, like all young tempters, you are anxious to be able to report spectacular wickedness. But do remember, the only thing that matters is the extent to which you separate the man from the Enemy [God]. It does not matter how small the sins are provided that their cumulative effect is to edge the man away from the Light and out into the Nothing.” TALK 3 Awe & Wonder Cody Jensen Colossians 1:15-17 [Christ] The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created. Job 12:7-10 But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the [Ruah, spirit,] breath of all mankind. Genesis 1:1-3 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light. John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 1 John 4:8 (NIV) Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. Mark 4:39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Quiet! Be still!' Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
