As much as it’s been a crazy year, we’ve had a knack for making lemonade out of lemons. In this pod, we discuss some of my favorite people that have helped me with the irREFutable, and of course Referee Rant. We talk to a few of my friends that have super special power on what they are doing for Thanksgiving, and what they are thankful for. All that and more, The Thanksgiving Pod Special, right now. Featuring: Kevin Sparrock of the irREFutable Magazine, Mason Fornoles, Mike Kaplan of East Fitness LI, Wayne Nicholson, Kerry Donohue of WCBOO, Herving Armand, Danny Fianko, The Other Other Ralph, Dylan Fitzgerald of the Mic Mobile, Sofia Lopez, and Bernard Bowen Sr.
250 is a milestone for me. 2020 has been a milestone for one Tamar Adams. Perfect Your Skills never stopped during a pandemic; he never forgot about the youth. In this pod, we discuss how his 2019 wrapped up, those early days of no rims, finding the nets that weren’t taken down, and his Friday Night Hoops that was a raving success in my hometown of Long Island. All that and more, my conversation with Coach T, now. P.S. - I want to take the time to thank everybody that has inspired me to make Referee Rant my life long work. For Episode 250, I wanted to take the time to acknowledge someone that has inspired me from afar is Bill Simmons. Say what you want about him, but his knowledge of many different things have inspired me to be the best version of myself, creating and innovating, everyday. At episode 200 I took this podcasting game serious, and copped studio grade equipment. Episode 250, I stepped up the mic. You’ll hear the Electro Voice, moving forward. And for someone that has inspired me up close is Mr Perfect Your Skills 24/7 himself, Coach Tamar Adams. He is such an inspiration to me and so many kids alike. His Friday Night Hoops in the summer was legendary, so much so, that they had to take the rims down. Thank you Coach T, and thank you to all! Here’s to another 250. Ralph the Ref - out!
To his credit, Ray was an early adopter of Referee Rant, on the ground floor when it was just a passing idea. In this pod, we catch up with Ray, on what he learned during the pandemic, our Spring Baseball school season being wiped out, and salvaging through summer ball - not behind the plate, but behind the pitchers mound. All that and more, my conversation with Ray, now.
Thursday's tidbits about the sports betting world & Tyler's rant about NFL referees.
AS MY MACBOOK is being quarantined at the Apple Store (USB-C Ports don’t work), I have no ability to publish the pods, as scheduled. * * Fret not; we have something to announce any way. I am pleased and honored to embark on this endeavor with my brother in officiating, my soul mate in making this art, Kevin Sparrock to our own creative brainchild, The irREFutable Magazine! * Irrefutable means impossible to deny or disprove. * We know that Referee Rant and Foulss.com are an extension of us, as our art is an extension of a way we can’t necessarily express ourselves on the court. Moreover, we thought of so many talented officials that are talented off the field and off the court with their other respective endeavors. For one, I’m a professional writer, and Kevin a professional artist. We decided to combine our talents and express ourselves, and give others a platform express themselves about what they are into outside of officiating. This will be a an online magazine, where we will highlight some referees, officials, and artists that we sincerely respect, that surely deserve their props and due. We also started a podcast attached to it, the irREFfutable podcast, which deviates from what #therant would be. Instead of just highlighting those in the officiating game, we want to delve deep into the other things they dig. Our first pod is with Kevin and myself, where we talk about how we came together, how we got into the art that we make, and what we see the future is of the irREFutable Magazine. We hope you enjoy! Link in bio. * “Your first workout will be bad. Your first podcast will be bad. Your first video will be bad. Your first speech will be bad. Your first article will be bad. * But you can’t make your 100th without making your first. * So put your ego aside. And START. * This is our start to 100. Let’s. Get. It. *

In anticipation of more of nothing, Dyckman Basketball week continues. Last week, the team at Referee Rant drove down (ironically the day before they cancelled all permits) down to NYC, and it was eerie as you possibly can imagine. We want to salute to factions that are vital to Dyckman Basketball. First up, Ken Widgeon, who played at Dyckman growing up, and gets to officiate there; and of course Erin and Lawrence from the The Baller’s Journal, who were a media staple on the scene last summer. They both get a chance to share what Dyckman means to them. I hope y’all enjoy.

Joe Flick is an inspiration to us at Referee Rant. As you know I go to championship games annually, and pit myself with the other refs to reflect on if I am ready. Aside from being an amazing husband and father, he can blow the whistle with the best of them - as he services Division 2 men's Basketball, Double A CHSAA ball in NYC, and even middle school games in Suffolk! I know the feeling Joe! I love the game that much too. He discusses all that, as well as his love for running. My conversation with Joe, now.

This special edition of The Rant is a collaboration with SABL - otherwise known as the South Asian Basketball League. Our guest this episode is Kash, with a K. I like to call him the Thanos of the SABL - he's the commissioner, he's a player, and he's even a basketball official. We discuss his experience in wearing all of these hats simultaneously, and discuss how Referee Rant and the SABL will work together now, and in the future. We will be starting a new podcast that will showcase SABL players each week, as well as a docu-series showing a day in the life of an official at SABL. And so, my conversation with Kash, now.

I'm solo for this quick hitter. I talked about my conversation this past week with Trey Daubert on the "That's some Cheese" podcast centered around the 2018 NBA MVP race and why there's a clear front-runner. I then go on a tangent/rant on officiating in pro sports and how it could use some innovation across the board. Thanks for listening. Please Download/Rate/Subscribe. A Bonus! From the guys that brought you Referee Rant and Long Island Legends, the premier Flag Football league on Long Island, we present to you: Poppin' Flags - the new podcast where we cover all things Flag Football. We talk to people in or around the league, and those that truly love the game and want to grow it like us. Today's guest, Sean McCann, owner of LI Legends Flag Football League, and my partner in our new endeavor, LI Legends U - our youth Flag Football league. We'd be remiss to not mention and shout Blake Crespo, our other partner who will be on the show shortly. Sean also was gracious enough to be on #therant. His story will be on the next episode. And without further ado, here is Poppin' Flags! Follow and subscribe!
Joe Flick is an inspiration to us at Referee Rant. As you know I go to championship games annually, and pit myself with the other refs to reflect on if I am ready. Joe participated in one of these championship games, this year, thus starting our friendship.
The common theme between Referee Rant and the Baller's Journal are the sports we love and making art of it. In this pod, Erin and Lawrence talk about their respective relationship with sports, how they formulated the idea of The Baller's Journal, and what the future holds. All that and more, my conversation with Erin and Lawrence, now.

Introducing Michael Grant, who will serve as a regular consultant and contributor to the Podcast and our website, Referee Rant. He is a Board 41 Basketball Member, NBWBOA Girl's Certified, making a huge leap on the Girl's Basketball circuit, including officiating some of the top games in NYC. This episode is different, because I talk about our parallel universes where he's elevating on the Women's side, and I, The Men's. This is a free flowing conversation where we talk about our first full year servicing the borough much more. My conversation with Michael, now.

Along with Bball Referees, Referee Rant presents to you the Refereee Roundtable - a three part series moderated by Bernard Bowen Sr. and myself. We speak with upcoming officials around New York and Nationally how their season was, what their highlights were, and what they have been doing during this global pandemic. As this is separate from #therant podcast, we decided to put it on this feed, as these are tales from the third team. Be sure to look for another drop next weekend, as we expand our roundtable with more seats. I hope you enjoy! And now, tales from the third team.
With my special guest and co-host from Elevated Mentor, Ray Bullock Jr, in collaboration with Referee Rant, we present to you: Mental Mountains Vol 1: The Elevated mind - an audio experience. We co-host to talk about some of the best quotes that mean a lot of us and expand upon the initial quote, through Tales From the Third Team. The first quote we delve deep into is, Failure Does not Exist, and we speak on what it means to us through the lens of officiating, and other things that inspired us like movies, music, and of course, life. Be sure to look out for a new drop each week, where we discuss another quote from the book. And now, the Tales From the Third Team.
First up, Ken Widgeon, who played at Dyckman growing up, and gets to officiate there; and of course Erin and Lawrence from the The Baller's Journal, who were a media staple on the scene last summer. They both get a chance to share what Dyckman means to them. I hope y'all enjoy.
Bball Referees and Referee Rant continues with their collaboration with The Referee Roundtable. Part 2 - Communication and Mentorship. Bernard Bowen Sr. and I lead a lively discussion with about 20 officials of all levels to speak on the importance of those two attributes in officiating. We hope you enjoy. And now, Tales from the Third Team.
A thank you to all that have been supportive of the show. Coach T and Coach Francois, who discuss their first experience on the Boy's Varsity Basketball side, Veteran Officials from Board 41 Terry Twibell and James Washington, and of course, Charlie Marquardt, who is still in the gym, ready to go. Happy thanksgiving y'all, from Referee Rant.
