In Part 2 of this week's episode of Next on the Tee, I'm joined by someone quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite guests—Bill Mallon. Bill's remarkable journey through golf, medicine, and the story of tickets to the 1980 Winter Olympics that he gave to his father, is one you won't want to miss. After his time on Tour, Bill returned to Duke for medical school and went on to become one of the country's top orthopedic surgeons. He also shares an unforgettable story about the time he and Gary McCord set the PGA Tour record for the fastest round ever played—finishing in just 1 hour and 26 minutes at Harbour Town in 1977, a developing story that caught the attention of TV cameras and eventually Commissioner Deane Beman. We also dive into Bill's passion as an Olympic historian, including a powerful and emotional story about gifting his father tickets to the 1980 Winter Olympics to see speed skating legend Eric Heiden—a moment that would become part of his father's final words years later. This is an episode filled with incredible stories, heartfelt moments, and the kind of perspective only someone like Bill Mallon can bring.

05.28.2025 | Staying Strong in Stormy Times | Part 3: The Final Words of the Great Apostle | Pastor Jeff Wickwire Pastor Jeff Wickwire emphasizes the importance of staying rooted in the Word of God as the key to finishing the Christian race, especially in challenging times. He draws on the Apostle Paul's final words to Timothy, encouraging believers to endure hardships, teach sound doctrine, and remain persistent in sharing their faith regardless of circumstances. The sermon warns against the rising trend of people seeking teachers who cater to their desires rather than those who provide biblical truth, highlighting the dangers of following myths and fables. Ultimately, Pastor Jeff calls for a commitment to sound teaching and critical thinking, urging believers to define their experiences through theology rather than allowing their experiences to shape their beliefs.

They also draw from Jesus' time in the desert, showing how even the hardest seasons can be a setup for deeper spiritual power and clarity. One of the most moving moments is when Josh reads a poem he wrote at 2 AM during one of his lowest points, titled My Soul in the Town of Bethany. It's raw, honest, and full of longing—and yet, it ends with hope, echoing the resurrection theme so central to the Gospel. Josh shares the steps he took to find healing: daily affirmations, professional counseling, medication, and leaning into community—even when he didn't feel like it. He also reads a touching letter from his wife, shedding light on how depression affects not just individuals but entire families. Throughout the episode, Josh and Jason emphasize that it's okay to not be okay—and that God often does His deepest work in our darkest hours. They encourage listeners to stay connected, seek help, and hold on to hope, because the desert isn't the end of the story. Bottom Line: This episode is for anyone who's ever felt spiritually drained, emotionally stuck, or just plain worn out. Josh and Jason don't sugarcoat the struggle, but they point to a God who meets us in the middle of it—and leads us out with purpose.
In this deeply personal and informative episode 210, Dr. Gillian Lockitch is joined by Jennifer Kaufman, a seasoned educator and school principal with over two decades of experience in autism education—who also happens to be the grandmother of a child on the autism spectrum. Jennifer offers a rare dual perspective: professional insights shaped by years at the helm of a specialized autism school, and heartfelt wisdom drawn from her own family's journey. Together, they explore the evolving role of grandparents in today's families, particularly when a child is diagnosed with autism. Jennifer shares how her expectations as a grandparent shifted, the emotional complexities that followed, and how her professional training helped—but didn't fully prepare her—for the personal impact of the diagnosis. Drawing from her book, Grandparenting on the Spectrum: A Journey from Both Sides of the Desk, she provides gentle, practical guidance for navigating these often unspoken challenges. Listeners will learn how to offer support without overwhelming their adult children, create routines that help neurodiverse grandchildren feel safe and connected, and build relationships based on love, patience, and flexibility. This episode is an essential listen not just for grandparents, but for anyone touched by autism, looking to better understand the balance between knowledge and compassion, action and acceptance.
