In today's episode, Hunter guides us through the 10th of December, continuing our year-long journey through the Scriptures. Together, we explore the book of 2 Timothy, chapters one through four, reflecting on Paul's powerful final words to Timothy—words of encouragement, endurance, and unwavering faith. Hunter helps us draw practical wisdom from Paul's perspective at the "finish line," insisting that we stay focused, keep our minds clear, and persevere in our spiritual race. The episode invites listeners to embrace courage in dark times, find strength in God's love, and live out our calling with purpose. As always, we close with prayer—for our own souls, our families, and all who tune in—lifting up our hopes and needs to the Father in this season of Advent. We also take a moment to recognize the generous support of our podcast partners, and extend an invitation for others to join in supporting the ministry. Tune in for a soul-enriching blend of scripture, reflection, encouragement, and community. TODAY'S DEVOTION: We're in the coach's corner, and Paul is giving us some perspective from the finish line. Some perspective from someone who's already won his race. In verse seven, chapter four, Paul says this: "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race and I have remained faithful." Paul, standing at the finish line, looking back at his protégé Timothy, wants to give him—and us—some perspective for our journey. Stay focused. There's no off season. Do what you're called to do. Preach the word of God and offer the gospel of Christ. Correct, rebuke, and encourage people into and with the gospel. Keep a clear mind. Renew your mind by staying focused on the gospel. Don't be afraid. You'll have to suffer in this life, but the suffering will pass, and God will be with you each step of the way. You must keep focused and stay in the fight. The race has an endpoint, and we see Paul at the threshold. He says, "I've run the race. I've finished it. I've won the prize." Brothers and sisters, there is a prize that awaits us—a crown of righteousness: absolute wholeness, healing, and joy. Having finished his race and looking back from that line, Coach Paul has us in the coach's corner and he's calling out to us: courage, wisdom, perspective. Receive it well. Take it to heart. Stay focused and don't be afraid. Keep fighting the fight. Keep your mind clear and run to the end. God is with you and he is good. That is the prayer that I have for my own soul today. It's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. Rev 22:12-21 We know that someone's final remarks are usually some of their most important words. Maybe it's the last song an artist wrote, a farewell video from an aging family member, or a letter from a fallen service member. So, what would Jesus say as His Word is closed? What are the important things He'd mention? Listen this week as we conclude our study in Revelation.

What if the world’s belief in Jesus depended on how well His followers loved each other? In this week’s message, “For Our Unity,” Pastor Ron Merrell closes our Final Words series with a look at Jesus’ final prayer in John 17 — a powerful call for believers to be one, just as the Father and Son are one. When followers of Jesus live with humility, gentleness, and sacrificial love, the world sees something real — the heart of God. Let’s stop making secondary issues feel primary. Let’s start living with the mindset of Christ — loving one another deeply, valuing others above ourselves, and maintaining the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. “May they be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me.” — John 17:23 #FinalWords #ForOurUnity #PastorRonMerrell #ConnectionPointeChurch #ChristianUnity #BibleTeaching #Jesus #ChurchOnline #BrownsburgChurch NEXT STEPSHave you made a decision to follow Jesus and now wondering what your next step is? Virginia Giuffre's posthumous memoir Nobody's Girl isn't just another Epstein chapter—it's a psychological case study in how fear becomes control. In this raw episode of Hidden Killers Live, Tony Brueski sits down with retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke, the former Chief of the Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, to unpack how predators like Epstein and Maxwell systematically identify and break their targets. Giuffre's memoir lays bare every step—from her father's early betrayal to the moment she realized fear, not freedom, ruled her life. Dreeke explains how Epstein's network weaponized shame, isolation, and manipulation to create compliant victims—and why trauma's distortion of memory doesn't discredit survivors. This is not tabloid talk. It's an anatomy of exploitation told through behavioral science, human vulnerability, and institutional failure. Together, Tony and Robin dig into the core question: why did so many powerful people stay silent? #VirginiaGiuffre #JeffreyEpstein #RobinDreeke #HiddenKillers #GhislaineMaxwell #BehavioralAnalysis #Trafficking #SurvivorPsychology #FBI #TrueCrimePodcast #AbuseDynamics #NobodyGirl #TonyBrueski Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? "Final Words"Pastor James Leads us from 1 Timothy 6:3-21This week's sermon closes out 1 Timothy. This week pastor James leads on Pauls final words to Timothy in Ephesus, closeing out on what to do about false teachers within the church. He also urges to stray from the love of money and resources, as it is the root of all evil and that the resources themselves are put to better use in service of the Lord. That investing in his kingdom, is the best way to everlasting life, and an everlasting legacy.YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/N7zP3Q38MHQThank you so much for joining us today! The Phaedo is a beautiful dialogue! Join Deacon Harrison Garlick and Dr. Christopher Frey, McFarland Professor of Philosophy at the University of Tulsa, as they conclude their exploration of Plato's Phaedo, a profound dialogue capturing Socrates' final hours and his arguments for the soul's immortality. Reading schedule and more!Collection of guides on the great books! In this episode, Dcn. Garlick and Dr. Frey dive into the second half of the text (72e–118a), unpacking the recollection and affinity arguments, objections from Simmias and Cebes, the concept of misology, the final cause argument, the myth of the afterlife, and Socrates' enigmatic final words.Episode SegmentsRecollection Argument (72e–77a)Socrates argues that learning is recalling preexistent knowledge of forms: “Coming to know something… is actually recollecting.”Sense experience, like seeing equal sticks, triggers recollection of perfect forms. This suggests the soul exists before birth. The argument for forms is distinct from recollection.Affinity Argument (78b–80b)The soul resembles forms, being “divine, immortal, intelligible, uniform,” unlike the mutable body: “The body is… mortal, multiform, dissolvable.”Forms are simple and unchanging: “Beauty itself doesn't change… It would have to be something that isn't visible.”Riveting Image and the Philosophical Life (83d)Pleasures and pains “rivet the soul to the body and to weld them together."Socrates remains calm while others weep, embodying philosophical discipline: “He's the philosopher… They're too sunk, they're too mired in that bodily.”Objections by Simmias and Cebes (84c–88b)Simmias' harmony view posits the soul as an effect of bodily organization.Cebes' cloak objection suggests the soul may wear out: “Why couldn't there be a last time which… the soul does eventually wear out?”Socrates counters that the soul causes life, not the body.Misology and the Value of Argument (88c–89e)Socrates warns against misology, hating reasoned argument: “There's no greater evil one can suffer than to hate reasonable discourse.”Final Cause Argument (95b–107a)Socrates' autobiography reveals dissatisfaction with materialist explanations, seeking purpose. The soul's essential life ensures immortality: “The soul is alive itself in a way that it can't be taken away… As the fire cannot actually receive coldness, neither can the soul actually receive death.”Myth of the Afterlife (107d–114c)Describes a stratified earth with hollows and Tartarus.Souls face judgment or purgation.Details may not be literal but encourage virtue.Socrates' Death and Final Words (114d–118a)Socrates drinks hemlock, called a “pharmacon."Final words suggest death as healing: “Crito, we ought to offer a cock to Asclepius… The malady for which he wants to be cured is embodied life itself.”Inspires hope, especially for Christians: “If someone like Socrates… can enter it with this much fortitude… how much greater should our hope be?”Key TakeawaysThe Phaedo's arguments—recollection, affinity, and final cause—build a case for the soul's immortality, though not airtight, urging a philosophical life: “The philosophical life is one in which you have to be comfortable with...
