Historia de un viaje de ida y vuelta familiar: se llamaba Julio Escámez Cantón, nación en Terque (Almería) en 1878. 40 años después, tras enviudar, emigra a Chile, a la región, del Bio Bio. Era constructor y cuando terminaba una obra lo celebraba cantando. Llevaba el arte en sus venas, pero lo heredaron tres de sus hijos chilenos. Orietta y Àngela Escámez , ue fueron dos grandes actrices, y Julio Escámez un gran pintor y muralista. Por la casa de los Escámez pasaron los grandes de la cultura chilena porque ellos también lo fueron. A Orietta la dirigió Víctor Jara, Julio diseñaba libros con Pablo Neruda y pintaba a Violeta Parra a la vez que Violeta le dedicaba poemas y canciones. El 3 de octubre de 2022  las nietas  de Julio Escámez Cantón , Orietta Duvauchelle Escámez y Roxana Pardo Escámez, volvieron a Terque (Almería) para unir su presente con el pasado familiar y llevaron un cuadro del tío Julio que ahora cuelga en una pared del teatro de esta localidad de Alpujarra almeriense.
