Kirill and Irina have told Sergei Vasilyev what they found at the diamond mine at the Tuv oasis. His story of what happened to him and his family is going to shock the two of them - and provide an explanation for the sinister events that have been troubling Gilbert Villiers. In London, Roy Marsden is not pleased to find out that Macey has been visiting Piet Hoodjink, London director of Durban Diamonds, or that she has been lying to him about Kirill being ill. In return, he has a little surprise for her ...
Macey Church reports what she has learnt from interviewing Nancy Inovix to Dr Roy Marsden, director of ECO Warriors, and receives an unexpected invitation. Meanwhile in Kazbakistan, Kirill Solokov sets off across the desert with the anthropologist Dr Irina Kerkomenova to visit the Kerkomen nomads. Do they have some answers as to why Sir Gilbert Villiers is being smeared?
Roy Marsden has gone back to London and Macey and Kirill will start carrying out interviews in Seven Continents on Monday, to try to discover who is behind the anonymous messages threatening Sir Gilbert. So, maybe they can have a relaxing weekend first and renew old friendships? Think again - things are about to turn nasty.
Sir Gilbert has introduced Macey and Kirill to his close associate Dr Roy Marsden, director of the environmental protection group ECO Warriors. But what is his connection to the diamond mining industry and what is it that Seven Continents is so worried about?

First broadcast on FAB RADIO INTERNATIONAL at 19:00 on January 23rd 2022 Today we welcome back the ever popular WARREN CUMMINGS to present another in our recurring occasional series looking at SPY DRAMAS on TV, and this time we're looking at one of his favourites, THE SANDBAGGERS, a series made by YORKSHIRE TELEVISION during the turbulent political power-shifting period of the late 1970s and early 1980s, and which starred ROY MARSDEN as NEIL BURNSIDE and RAY LONNEN as WILLIE CAINE. For a series that only lasted for twenty episodes, it is very fondly remembered as being the very pinnacle of what a series set in the world of espionage could be, and it might have carried on a lot longer if it wasn't for the untimely disappearance – in very mysterious circumstances – of its creator and main screenwriter IAN MACKINTOSH. As you'll discover in our conversation, it's a series that both WARREN and I enjoy very much, so much so in fact that we do get rather excitable at times and SPOILER ALERT! We do give away several significant plot points from this forty year old series as we get somewhat carried away – not (for once) in a pair of diplomatic bags – but by our own enthusiasm, so don't say I didn't warn you, but if you feel like you need to look away now, I perfectly understand, and won't be sending an operative round to deal with you in some kind of a diplomatic exchange. PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.

Sherlock Holmes was played by Roy Marsden with the part of Dr Watson played by John Moffatt. John Moffatt is no stranger to radio and, in fact, played the role of Holmes, Watson and Inspector Gregson on the radio. He’s probably best known for his role as Hercule Poirot in the BBC’s presentation of many of Agatha Christie’s novels on the radio. Roy Marsden appeared in Granada’s “The Last Vampyre” with Jeremy Brett. Unlike most full-cast adaptations, these featured mostly Dr Watson’s narration interspersed with acted sequences. This technique is quite effective especially since it mimics how most people perceive the stories from the canon.
