Bournemouth's faint hopes of Europe officially ended on Tuesday night as Manchester City did a job on Iraola's men in a more than convincing 3-1 win at the Etihad. Although Cherries fans are disappointed finishing outside the qualification spot, the end-of-season showdown against Leicester is still a crucial one - with £9m on the line! The merit money difference between coming 9th and 12th is over £9m, and whilst it does depend on other results going our way, the opportunity to finish in a record equalling ninth place is more than mouthwatering. Sam and Tom are the Queens Park Hotel to mull over the final game of the season, where Boscombe fans will be saying goodbye to our Spanish superstar Dean Huijsen, whilst although wary that we may be seeing the last of a few other Cherries stars. Arsenal's mastery at the set-piece was thrown back in their faces on Saturday in North London as Bournemouth scored two goals straight from the training ground, ensuring that Iraola's men emerged with three points. Ten days ago Cherries fans agreed that just four points would be an excellent return from Manchester United and the Gunners, and whilst it turns out that Boscombe got that, it didn't happen the way we thought we would. Sam and Tom review a match from which ensured Andoni's men secured a massive three points, and a first ever DOUBLE over the Gooners, with a startling realisation that set-piece routines were central to EVERY goal against them this season. On Saturday, Bournemouth travel to the London Stadium in need of points as they look to arrest their decline in the Premier League. The Cherries' form has been poor of late, however they face Graham Potter's West Ham United - a side who have similar issues - and whose current form is worse than our own. For Andoni Iraola, the unneeded news of Justin Kluivert's potential absence has thrown a spanner in the works, and with Ryan Christie also out, it will likely be up to star-boy Alex Scott to be the main man as Boscombe look to get their show back on the road. Sam and Tom are at the Queens Park hotel to preview what may turn out to be an epic encounter in East London. Visit the QP at 482 Holdenhurst Rd, Bournemouth, BH8 9AR. Andoni Iraola was at AFC Bournemouth's brand new Performance Centre on Friday, looking forward to a HUGE FA Cup clash against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, knowing that a victory could get Bournemouth back to Wembley in the cup for the first time since 1998. Sam and Tom at the QP to preview Sunday's epic encounter which will see the Citizens desperate to rescue an underwhelming season by getting one over the Cherries once again, but Boscombe will be buoyant after their league victory against Pep's side, so can the home side create history and reach the last four for the first time? In our build up to the big game we predict BOTH teams, relay the latest team news, go over the strengths and weaknesses in the side, whilst we also ponder just what we might do with the absence of Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez! A point gained? Or two points dropped? Thanks to Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth fans sense the latter. On Sunday, Cherries travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face the Lilywhites in buoyant mood thanks to the levels of expectation set by our Basque boss. Whilst Bournemouth's Premier League form has been shaky of late, there still remain great expectations for this season, and the pre-match chatter amongst Boscombe fans suggested that this match-up in North London would be pivotal to that. Whilst game ended with a "creditable" 2-2, Cherries fans came away deflated - a feeling that is, by it's own admission, an acknowledgement and realisation that Iraola continues to raise the bar - after all, a point at Spurs is superb right? Are we wrong to feel frustrated or even miffed by dropping points?! Sam and Tom discuss the finer details... Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Kaoru Mitoma likes playing against Bournemouth, and on Tuesday night we travel to Falmer with the aim of keeping the Japanese star quiet. Whilst Brighton have a number of stars that can cause mischief, it's the Seagulls' number 22 that has often been the thorn in Cherries' side recently, so can a Zabarnyi-less Boscombe prevent the in-form striker from influencing the game? Sam and Tom discuss the next game, which is being dubbed a "European Six Pointer"... Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. On Saturday Andoni Iraola's Cherries face Wolverhampton Wanderers at home in the Premier League, in the first of two consecutive matches against Vítor Pereira's men. By looking at the the league table, the form table, the baseline tracker, everything should indicate that this should be fairly routine for Boscombe, but football is NOT played on paper, and looking at Wolves's last performance in the PL, we actually could have a fair few things to worry about. Sam and Tom are the QP to discuss what we think will be an ACID TEST for AFC Bournemouth. Visit the Queens Park at 482 Holdenhurst Rd, Bournemouth, BH8 9AR. Bournemouth's 3-1 win over south coast rivals Southampton propelled Andoni Iraola's side up to fifth in the Premier League, sparking conversation amongst fans that making the grade for Europe's elite tournament could actually be a possibility. Whilst fans gleefully chanted "Champions League awaits for me", we're now at a point where we're questioning whether the song we're singing is just another piece of terrace rhetoric, or whether it it is actually not such a left-field claim as it might sound. The performance at St Mary's saw Boscombe effectively put the game to bed in the first half, and whilst Saints sorted out some of their personnel problems in the second half, ultimately, when we needed to - Bournemouth upped our levels, and a two-goal cushion was quickly restored. So can we? Sam and Tom go over the finer details of a memorable weekend at what has recently become the south's most frequent footballing derby. Former AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe had a shaky start to the season, and some Magpies fans were questioning his future, but with NINE wins in a row, one foot in the Carabao Cup final, and sitting pretty in the Premier League table - it's fair to say that Tyneside is now United behind Eddie and co. With Bournemouth awaiting this weekend, they can make it ten in all competitions, and they'll fancy their chances with the current state of Andoni Iraola's squad. Bournemouth are THREADBARE, and with James Hill being the latest casualty, Cherries are in their worst injury predicament that they've ever had in the top flight, but with a siege mentality comes galvanisation - so can Boscombe perform a miracle in the North East? In his own words, Andoni Iraola can never look too far ahead, refusing to set targets or speak about long term goals. Bournemouth's win against Tottenham led many a Cherry to start thinking about dreams of the top ten and maybe even Europe, but Bournemouth's Basque boss pooh-poohed any mentions of possible achievements, stating that the next game is the most important. Ipswich Town are Cherries' opponents for this one, and their record suggests it should be an away win with Bournemouth on form, and the Tractorboys winless at home. Boscombe fans suggest that it would be "so Bournemouth" to beat Spurs and lose to Ipswich, so is getting a result at Portman Road on Sunday potentially a barometer to see if we're a level above where we think we might be? We *should* be beating them right? Sam and Tom have the big match preview from the Queens Park Hotel. Visit the QP at: 482 Holdenhurst Rd, Bournemouth, BH8 9AR. On Thursday, Bournemouth THUMPED Spurs - yet was only 1-0! However it was a game where Cherries had chances galore, and it would not have flattered Iraola's side if Boscombe had won by 3, by 4, or 5 - as the relentless pressing, the refusal to let Spurs breathe, and the constant energy - meant that Ange Postecoglu's men had few answers to the continuous pressure. Yes we all know the Spurs have got injuries, but in terms of Bournemouth's "difference makers", so have we, and with the latest omission being our star central-defender Marcos Senesi, would his replacement step up? Of course he would - you could put your Huijsen it. Sam and Tom are at the Queens Park Hotel for the Second Look... Visit the QP at: 482 Holdenhurst Rd, Bournemouth, BH8 9AR. Last week Bournemouth ANNIHILATED top of the table Manchester City, but this weekend, we arguably faced a stiffer test by the way of divisional stablemates Brentford - who have the best home form in the Premier League, and they haven't lost at home to the Cherries since 2005! Andoni Iraola's side have seven points out of a possible NINE in their last three games against Arsenal, Aston Villa and City, but whilst a Brentford side that were underwhelming on Monday against Fulham looks like a mouth-watering fixture, Boscombe fans are all too aware that this has all the hallmarks of an "After the Lord Mayor's Show" type outing. AFC Bournemouth's Ghanian superstar Antoine Semenyo is on the lips of every FPL player in the Premier League right now after some stunning performances and goals which has thrust him into the global limelight. Cherries travel to winless Leicester City on Saturday, and whilst the history and the form guide points towards an away win, the clash at the King Power will be far from easy - therefore Boscombe fans will likely be looking to our electric right-winger to unlocking a side who can perhaps consider themselves unlucky to register three points this season. Saturday saw Bournemouth' returning Merseyside and like the previous encounter against Everton, the weekend's clash against Liverpool had ANOTHER 11 minutes of madness. Despite the 3-0 defeat, it wasn't all that bad for the Cherries. The result looks really flattering for Arne Slot's men, however there are plenty of positives to take, and with a couple of games ahead in which Iraola will be targeting to get points on the board - Boscombe are still in good shape. In this show, we're going to rewatch the WHOLE of the first half to unravel what went right and what went wrong for Iraola's team... Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. PLEASE LISTEN TO ‘SEASON 9 - EPISODE 33' FOR PART ONE OF THIS TWO-PART CASE. After Benjamin Atkins and Debbie Pereira were caught with their lodger's severed arms in their back garden, they were charged with murder and brought to trial at Winchester Crown Court. The prosecution alleged that the couple had acted together to kill Simon Shotton, dismember his body, and scatter his remains around Boscombe. Although Atkins had admitted to causing Simon's death, he claimed that he had acted in self-defence, and Pereira argued she was innocent of any involvement… (Part 2 of 2).*** LISTENER CAUTION IS ADVISED *** This episode was researched and written by Eileen Macfarlane.Edited by Joel Porter at Dot Dot Dot Productions.Script editing, additional writing, illustrations and production direction by Rosanna FittonNarration, audio editing assistance, script editing, and production direction by Benjamin Fitton.Become a ‘Patreon Producer' and get exclusive access to Season 1, early ad-free access to episodes, and your name in the podcast credits. Beating Bournemouth isn't for everybody, and whilst our "Special One" managed to win against the Cherries in the Carabao Cup, in the Premier League, it still hasn't happened - so will Eddie and Mad Dog's Newcastle United stop the rot on Sunday in a match where Boscombe fans will be celebrating the club's 125th anniversary? The expectations on Eddie Howe by Newcastle United fans in 2024/25 is simple - they NEED European football, and as Loaded Mags' Pete Davey suggests, without this being achieved - he fears for the Special One's position at the helm of the Magpies. This case was committed in Boscombe, part of Bournemouth during August 2023. The case has come to Winchester Crown Court this month, starting on April 11, it is expected to finish in late May, more likely early June 2024.I am not sure how to describe the case in a line or two. A gregarious extrovert couple with addiction and mental health problems commit an atrocious act. The trial is live, so please follow it in the media. I dont think I will post another podcast on this case unless there is something to justify another podcast. I intend to post a couple of lighter podcasts, non murder cases. Perhaps a paranormal podcast, Also a podcast about the Beatles and John Lennon, I am aware that I have not posted a cryptozoology podcast for some time.
Bournemouth's first half against Villa was cool, controlled, and but for a lapse in concentration in the stoppage time, it would have been comfortable - as most of the hosts early threats were being stubbed out. With Dom Solanke's eighteenth goal of the season in the bank - it was looking like Iraola's side would go in 1-0 up, but ex-Red Morgan Rogers had different ideas... And this seemingly set the tone for a second half, as contrary to pre-match opinion, Cherries were actually the side that looked leggy, with Villa's quality eventually shining through via goals from Diaby and Bailey - ensuring Emery's saw off Boscombe with ease. But where were the problems? Was anyone individually at fault? Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms. Holmes complains about the weather, insults a Scotland Yard detective and untangles some old family drama in this strange little story. Plus, Watson is married now! Did anything else meaningful happen? From The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, "The Boscombe Valley Mystery" is an oddly-paced, weirdly plotted short story about murderous Australians and the sins of our fathers. On Saturday, Marco Silva's Fulham schooled Bournemouth in a performance which gave Cherries little room for manoeuvre. Outfought in the middle of the park and exposed on the flanks, Fulham were rigid and robust - throwing bodies on the line. Despite this, Bournemouth had 25 shots, but with the home side defending staunchly throughout, only five hit the target. It left Cherries fans leaving Craven Cottage scratching their heads at a 2024 that has started winless in the Premier League. Hard to believe, but this is our first murder. Yes, this isn't about a hidden painting or a bizarre scam to steal gold but a for real dead guy. And not just dead guy, a dead Australian guy! We've got our usual sassy Holmes but otherwise the mystery is a bit slight. It's still a fun discussion though, and we also divert into one of the original Edgar Allan Poe detective stories with a more surprising culprit and a bet about labor politics.
Watson is called away from his home to join Holmes on a new case in Boscombe Valley, the murder of Charles McCarthy. All signs point to his son James being the culprit, but it still doesn't quite add up. Lestrade has been retained to investigate, and he has called upon Holmes to help him uncover the truth. A new mystery has begun, and it will accompany you as you lay your head down for a night of peaceful sleep. ----- Welcome to the Sherlock Holmes Bedtime Stories podcast. Each episode is a section of a classic Sherlock Holmes story, read in soothing tones and set to calming music to help you fall asleep.
James is not longer in Liverpool, therefore Everton win. In the sunshine at Goodison Park, the Toffees matched their highest goal output of season and kept a clean sheet for the first time this campaign. Alex and James are here for a bit of a throwback to the OG pod (though they both miss Ryan dearly), going through the customary instant reactions, lineups, tactics, and main moments of an enjoyable victory. They then discuss the changes to the midfield forced upon Dyche, the emergence of Jack Harrison, Onana's quality, and a strong performance from our #9. Wrapping the show with a number of insightful listener comments, it's clear the fanbase are reveling in the victory. We hope you enjoy the recap! This season, Bournemouth are three points better off than the equivalent games in the previous campaign, and with a style of football that is making the media talk about us, Boscombe are once again proving to be an exhilarating watch. In some quarters though, there is concern, and even criticism, as it is now ANOTHER week that has passed by without that elusive win. Of course, criticism from supporters is not unjustified, as Cherries have not been overly clinical so far. Any frustration is possibly understandable given Bournemouth do not have a "W" in the form table, but contrary to opinion - this shouldn't be seen as any sort of meltdown amongst supporters. It's exasperating at times, but the bigger picture suggests there is still a LOT for Cherries fans to be excited about. It may be small steps, but small progress is still progress. Tom and Sam dissect the game on this week's Second Look, where they suggest that - fixtures will turn, the group will become more aligned with Andoni's way of playing, plus big players will return to the squad. It's not "panic stations" yet! Meltdown, schmeltdown! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to all our platforms.

“What do you say, dear?” [BOSC] One of the earlier cases in The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes, "The Boscombe Valley Mystery" is filled with wonderful scenes and phrases that carry us through the entire Sherlock Holmes canon. The Leeds owner was reportedly in tears and Jack Harrison was despondently sat all on his own after a very disorganised Leeds United lost 4-1 to Gary O'Neil's AFC Bournemouth at Dean Court on Sunday. Cherries fans were singing Gary's name once more on the terraces as the head coach masterminded a near-perfect performance against Javi Gracia's men, all but securing Premier League football for Boscombe for the seventh season! With Cherries fans ecstatic with the realisation that Premier League football will be gracing Dean Court again next season, but after all the persistent conjecture and concern of Gary O'Neil's appointment, is it now time to put certain conversations to bed? We discuss: Mark McAdam's controversial post-match tweet Eating humble pie Blake, Hughes & Foley's calculated risk When criticism goes TOO FAR? O'Neil's perennial Howe comparison Will see ALL sing Gary's name against Chelsea? Opinions on the Rally flags Will Jefferson Lerma put pen to paper? After the jubilation and euphoria of Bournemouth's win at Spurs, Cherries fans thought the arrival of West Ham might provide a "kick on" moment - but with the capitulation against Hammers being so severe, many are concerned that the 4-0 defeat is just another case of a step forward being countered with two steps back. Does it matter though? Or is it a worrying signal?
