I talk about how kids are influenced by social media and how social media managed to influence the stock market in January 2021 with Gamestop and AMC being two of the many. I explain how social media can be a great thing, but quickly be a bad thing as well. It is a lot easier for kids to consume content that maybe is too mature for them and how parents need to set restrictions on consumption. I also talk about how even the parents that set those restrictions and monitor what their kids are watching, the kids are introduced to the content by friends at school. Thanks again for stopping and taking a listen. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/SDSR/support
On this episode, I talk about some of the characteristics that those with a fixed mindset may have. Sometimes we may not even realize that we are thinking or making a decision with a fixed mindset. In December 2018, the Secretary of State for Defence, Gavin Williamson, released the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) long-awaited Modernising Defence Programme (MDP) review. In just 28 pages, the document examines the evolving nature of the threats facing the UK since the publication of the 2015 SDSR and addresses budgetary problems in the MoD's equipment programmes. While encouraging, the report appears to reinforce the government’s shifting strategic focus towards countering state-based threats, particularly Russia, despite the fact that remote warfare is likely to dominate British military engagement in the foreseeable future. Given that the MDP process was put in place as a means to resolve spending problems, this is a problematic oversight. Presented by Abigail Watson, the Remote Warfare Programme's (RWP) Senior Research Officer, the RWP team critically discuss the MDP.
