In today's episode of Let's Get Vulnerable, I'm joined by my dear friend and the internet's favorite sex expert, Dr. Tara, for an honest, empowering, and deeply human conversation about sex, shame, and secure connection. We talk about why so many of us feel disconnected from pleasure, how sexual empowerment is about so much more than sex itself, and why learning to communicate your desires is one of the most powerful things you can do for your relationship and your life. This episode is warm, real, and expansive, and it will invite you to rethink what healthy, securely attached intimacy truly looks like.Inside the Episode:Why sexual empowerment starts with self-knowledge, not performance and how shame around sex gets wired early in our livesHow securely attached sex is built on emotional safety, communication, and feeling worthy of receiving (and why that kind of sex is not boring)Practical ways to start talking about sex with your partner, even if it feels scary, including how curiosity and compassion change everythingIf this conversation resonated with you, I highly recommend Dr. Tara's new book, How Do You Like It? A Guide for Getting What You Want in Bed. It's a foundational, shame-free guide to understanding your sexuality, communicating your needs, and creating deeply connected intimacy.

Persuasion shapes every part of our daily lives, from convincing a boss to give us a raise to deciding which products we buy or which beliefs we hold true. But how do we recognize when we are being persuaded or deceived? In this episode, host Alita Guillen sits down with Dr. Timothy R. Levine, Professor and Chair of Communication at the University of Oklahoma and author of Duped: Truth-Default Theory and the Social Science of Lying and Deception. Together, they explore the subtle art and science of persuasion, how it overlaps with manipulation, why emotion can be so powerful, and what it really means to communicate honestly. Dr. Levine explains how persuasion differs from coercion and conformity, why politeness combined with reason is often the key to influence, and how fear is used in health communication to shape public behavior. He also shares practical tools to protect yourself from influence that does not serve you and why trust remains essential if we want healthy, connected relationships. From decoding everyday influence to understanding how misinformation spreads, this conversation offers a clearer look at the forces shaping how we think and act. It will help anyone become a more thoughtful communicator, a more intentional consumer, and a more ethical persuader. What if the abundance you've been asking for is already on its way—but you're missing it because it doesn't look the way you expected? In this episode, Nicole explores why so many people feel fear, contraction, and uncertainty around money right now, and how these emotions pull us into old patterns of control instead of trust. She invites you to consider what's actually happening beneath the surface when life feels shaky, and how to ground back into principles that hold steady no matter what's going on externally. Nicole breaks down a universal truth most people forget: you can decide what you want, but you don't get to decide how it arrives. Through real stories—from surprising manifestations to clients resisting the very opportunities they asked for—she reveals how the universe often brings abundance through the path of least resistance, not the path our minds try to force. These moments can trigger old wounds around support, validation, and worthiness, making it even harder to see the gifts right in front of us. From there, Nicole lays out the three essential components of calling in money and abundance: healing your money memory, maintaining the energy of manifestation, and taking aligned—not desperate—action. She explains why focusing on only one piece keeps you stuck in cycles of hustle, fear, or self-sabotage, and how reconnecting to all three brings you back into expansion. You'll learn what contraction actually feels like in the body, why it leads to controlling behavior, and how to shift into trust more quickly and consistently. Manifestation is not magic — it's math. In this episode, Kim sits down with Kris Haraldsson, aka “The Woman Whisperer,” to break down why getting what you want isn't woo-woo — it's logical. Together, they unpack the real blocks behind why women stay stuck: wanting things we don't actually desire, refusing to give ourselves permission, and confusing “being busy” with taking aligned action. From timeline pressure to the expectations we inherit as women, Kim and Kris dig into the difference between true desire and the life you've been told to want. They explore why so many of us chase certainty, shrink ourselves to be palatable, and mistake anxiety for intuition — and how everything shifts when you finally get quiet enough to hear yourself think.Kim's biggest takeaway? Your life changes the second you decide you're worthy of what you want — and act like a woman who already has it.✨ You're Gonna Want to Subscribe to This:Drop us a 5-STAR review (with a compliment — we read them all)Follow us (@richlittlebrokegrls) on Instagram for daily clips & chaos → [instagram.com/richlittlebrokegrls]Join the RLBG Community for exclusive events & LIVE girl talks → [richlittlebrokegirls.com/join] Stalk Kim on TikTok & Instagram (@kimberlybizu) for more unfiltered hot takes → [instagram.com/kimberlybizu & tiktok.com/@kimberlybizu]Shop Kim's favorites on ShopMy → [https://shopmy.us/kimberlybizu]Follow Kris on TikTok → [https://www.tiktok.com/@thriving_imperfectly]

Do you believe there’s more to life than what you can see? If so, how does this affect the way you move through the world? Does it impact how you make decisions; how you deal with disappointment; how you make meaning from your story? What about not getting what you want? In today’s episode, I share a message that came to me through my yoga practice and talk about how it brought peace to a situation where I’m not getting what I want. If there’s more to life than what we see, then maybe “what we want” is about much more than getting what we want. Sounds simple on the surface but tell that to yourself when you want something and you’re not getting it. Whatever it is that you want but can’t have right this minute, I hope this episode brings you some peace. Send me a Text Message! In this episode, Mike breaks down one of the most important — and misunderstood — principles of manifestation: you don't get what you want… you get what you expect. He dives deep into how expectations are wired into your nervous system, why your ego, subconscious, and body are the same thing, and how negative expectations sabotage success even when you're doing everything “right.” This is a masterclass in energetic alignment and internal reprogramming — straight from the front lines of personal evolution.Key TakeawaysYou Don't Get What You Want — You Get What You Expect Until your nervous system believes it's safe to receive, it will sabotage anything that doesn't feel familiar.Your Nervous System, Ego, and Subconscious Are All the Same Thing They're just different words for the same internal wiring — the filter through which you create reality.Your Nervous System Was Formed Before You Could Choose Childhood beliefs and family patterns shaped your expectations — and they still run the show.Self-Sabotage Is Just Expectation Misalignment If you want more than you expect to receive, you'll subconsciously push it away when it shows up.The Work Is in the Body Shadow work, meditation, future embodiment — these aren't mindset tools, they're nervous system tools.Notable Quotes“You can't have whatever you want, because you get what you expect.”“Your nervous system, your ego, and your subconscious are all the same things.”“If you're used to struggling financially, your nervous system literally wants to keep you there because it knows how to operate there.”“What I haven't done a great job of is, what do you want? And then dig a layer deeper and say, listen — what do you really expect to have?”“In the battle between your wants and your expectations, your expectations will win every time.”Call to Action
Many of us have parts of our lives where we want to grow and progress, things we want to do that we haven't done before, and yet, we hesitate and don't move forward because it can be so uncomfortable to do something new, to step into change. I call this the certainty of misery. We're not happy with where we are, but at least it's comfortable, we're certain how our life will be from day to day. If we can courage up and instead learn to step into the misery of uncertainty, we can create in our lives something that matches, and maybe even exceeds, what we dream of. Thanks for listening! Episode #163 : Traveling to London with a mix of excitement and nerves can be as daunting as it is exhilarating. I remember discussing this with my eyelash queen, Marie, while she carefully crafted my lashes. Her journey to pursue a master's degree was a reminder that taking one small step leads to big changes. This episode is about those small, consistent actions that build momentum in life, whether it's planning an adventure to Wimbledon with my husband, Brian, or deciding to leave the kids behind for a much-needed escape. Amidst global concerns and travel alerts, we're choosing to embrace the thrill of new experiences. Marie's story is a testament to the power of breaking out of comfort zones. We often get trapped in routines, dreaming of something more but hesitating to act. It's not about the flashy success stories; it's about the everyday actions that propel us forward. I share how relentless consistency, like making that one phone call or sending that email, can be transformative. The episode underscores the idea that the everyday grit, not the glamorous moments, paves the path to achieving dreams. The mundane, unglamorous tasks are where progress happens. I recount setting up my studio's internet, a task I'd rather avoid, as an example of how constant motion leads to overall progress. Juggling responsibilities is part of the journey, and having children only heightens the need for efficiency. From transitioning out of a long finance career to building a media presence, I've learned the importance of keeping promises to oneself. Whether you're seeking personal growth or a career shift, it's about owning your journey, one determined step at a time. Passion and hard work can truly transform your life, and I hope this episode encourages you to believe that you can achieve your dreams with perseverance.
Getting what you want doesn't have to be so hard. I'm breaking down how manifestation really works and how you can start calling in the things that you want. Kind of Want It? Kind of Stuck.Let's get brutally honest.Have you ever caught yourself saying you want more, more success, more freedom, more alignment, but if you're really honest, you haven't moved an inch toward it?Then this episode is your wake-up call.I'm not here today to sugarcoat it or hand you another motivational quote to save for later. This episode is not about hype, it's about truth. And if you're an action-taker at heart, this will land deep.Inside today's episode, we're going to unpack why you're not getting what you say you want, and why it's not because of strategy, talent, or timing… It's because you've been dancing in the land of “kind of.” → Kind of committed. → Kind of taking action. → Kind of playing big…. but mostly playing small. Here's what you'll feel and learn:The real difference between desire and decisionThe hidden ways we sabotage our own growthWhy you keep negotiating with your dreams (and how to stop)And how to finally break out of stuck mode, without apology, delay, or waiting for permissionThis episode will hit you like a mirror, because you'll hear the exact patterns that have been costing you time, clarity, income, and confidence. And more importantly? You'll hear how to flip that switch for good. This is your moment to get radically clear and move. So, after listening, here's what I want you to do: → Take 10 minutes. Write down exactly what you want. → Get brutally honest about what it's costing you to stay in “almost.” → And pick one bold move you've been putting off, then go do it.Because clarity without action is daydreaming. You didn't come here to kind of want it. You came to get it.If this episode lights a fire in you, share it with one person who needs the push, and hit follow so you never miss an episode designed to move you forward.
In this episode, I'm walking you through how to actually face your fears—not just “feel the fear and do it anyway” clichés. We're talking about the fear of being seen, the fear of success, the fear of making the wrong move…and the sneaky ways they're keeping you stuck. If you've ever said “I just need to be more confident” or “I know what to do, I just don't do it”—this one will hit. Hard. I'll show you the exact step-by-step process that helped me go from overthinking and hesitating… to becoming a woman who moves fast and gets what she wants. Because fear doesn't disappear. But you can learn how to stop letting it decide who you become. P.S. If you're craving real identity work and a space that stretches your capacity to lead, earn, and be seen... When Cathy Engelbert found out she was pregnant, she resigned from a decades-long climb to becoming a partner at Deloitte. In her mind, being a good mom and a good exec couldn't coexist. But one male colleague saw her potential — and told her so. That changed everything. Cathy stayed, asked for the flexibility she needed, and learned to advocate for herself. She went on to become Deloitte's first female CEO. Now? She's leading one of the fastest-growing sports leagues as WNBA Commissioner. In this episode of 9 to 5ish, Cathy also shares: How sports turned her from a shy kid to a bold leader Why the environments of Deloitte and the WNBA actually aren't that different Her first 9-1-1 call as league commissioner – and the one trait that helped her get through it Why implementing Deloitte's paid family leave policy was the “most courageous thing” she's ever done One way she thinks the WNBA can be a model for the men's leagues Follow Cathy on IG: @wnbacommish Follow Carly and Danielle on IG: @carlyanddanielle Learn more about your ad choices. I'm sharing what to look for, how to shift out of stuck mode, and what it takes to override the part of you that just wants comfort. In this episode, I'll cover:How your brain tricks you into thinking inaction is the safer optionWhat to pay attention to in those “I want to but…” momentsWhy choosing discomfort on purpose is key to getting what you want_____________________
The next time you or your kids get a shot at the doctor's office or face anything that you know is going to be painful, there is a little trick you can use that should reduce the pain substantially. Listen as I explain what it is. https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn27514-hold-your-breath-to-dampen-the-pain-of-an-injection/#.VVTKyZO_Heb What is it about persuasive people? They just have that “something” that makes us want to listen, to be around them, and in many cases, do what they ask. Why are some people more persuasive than others? What strategies can we all use to be more influential and persuasive. Here to offer some great insight into the workings of persuasion is Abbie Maroño. She is a scientist and a practitioner in the field of human behavior and is recognized by the US Department of State as being in the top 1% of behavior analysis experts. She has delivered specialized behavioral analysis training to the U.S. Secret Service, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and local law enforcement agencies. She is author of the book The Upper Hand: Mastering Persuasion and Getting What You Want with the Science of Social Engineering (https://amzn.to/4jwGF59) Did you know that compared to many other species, humans have a high rate of genetic diseases. Wouldn't you think by now that evolution and "survival of the fittest" would've weeded those out? What science has recently discovered, about DNA and genetics is astonishing and is helping us understand how genetics work, how diseases are passed on, how genes can mutate and make us sick, why we have such a high rate of genetic diseases and how we may soon be able to fix or prevent some of it. Joining me to discuss this is Lawrence Hurst. He is a professor of evolutionary genetics at the Milner Centre for Evolution at the University of Bath and author of the book, The Evolution of Imperfection: The Science of Why We Aren't and Can't Be Perfect (https://amzn.to/3ZgOjJS) There are things in your kitchen you need to get rid of.
