Recently T came across a conversation on Twitter surrounding a specific segment and scene from Tales from the Darkside: The Movie. This specific scene from the "Lover's Vow" segment of the movie was one of the earliest scares that T can remember back to and continuing his "Growing Up With" series, decided it was a story worth telling! #talesfromthedarkside #gargoyles #jamesremar #dexter #dexterresurrection #dexternewblood #dexteroriginalsin #mortalkombat #raiden #talesfromthecrypt #seaworld

Holly wanders into an underworld just as real as ours, but not as brightly lit with Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (1990). The spiritual third Creepshow movie boasts stories by George Romero, Stephen King, and Arthur Conan Doyle, and includes mummies, cats from hell, and lovetorn gargoyles. Listen as we tally off screen cat deaths, eat the rich, and get our brains pulled out through our noses on this week's exciting episode! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
For their final trick, Erin and Cam give you TWO...pretty mediocre tales of the macabre. The Dracula Episode of Canada's own PURPLE PLAYHOUSE and TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE. Enjoy!

Hey Gang, On tonight's show, finally a good old anthology movie, we talk about Tales from the Darkside: The Movie! - Flicks-ology!
What if you could step back into the 1980s and wander through the campy, eerie world of horror television? Join us for a nostalgic trip as we unravel the origins and creative genius behind the classic anthology series "Tales from the Dark Side." With roots linked to the iconic 1982 film "Creepshow" and the visionary George Romero, this series ingeniously blends humor, horror, and the supernatural. We recount the unforgettable premiere episode, "Trick or Treat," where a capitalist antihero meets a spooky fate, and reflect on Romero's tenacity in bringing his chilling vision to life despite legal hurdles. Our conversation shifts to spotlight standout episodes like "Anniversary Dinner" and "Inside the Closet," showcasing the talents of Tom Savini and Fritz Weaver. Journey into the heart of these episodes, where an albino ghoulie lurks to the haunting sounds of a theremin, evoking a sense of thrilling nostalgia. We also explore the series' cultural impact, especially through its adaptations of works by renowned authors like Harlan Ellison, Clive Barker, and Stephen King, adding layers of intrigue to an already rich tapestry of storytelling. There's even room for a laugh as we connect these eerie tales to the world of musical theater.Anthology series have evolved, but their charm remains timeless. We draw comparisons to modern successors like "The Twilight Zone" and "Black Mirror," examining the puzzle-like nature of their narratives. As we reminisce about the original "Tales from the Dark Side," we ponder its enduring appeal amidst today's streaming challenges. We wrap up our episode with a candid discussion on podcasting ethics, underscoring the value of genuine research and active listener engagement. With a sprinkle of humor, we remind our audience to support local businesses and leave no trace behind, making this episode a delightful blend of entertainment and insightful discourse.

Who loves Bud Cort? We (being the hosts of Praising Kane, the world's most beloved Carol Kane-themed podcast) do! On this episode we're doing a FULL CORT PRESS with not one but TWO Kane/Cort pairings (and some bonus Bud in the news section). We start with a spooky episode of 80s anthology favorite Tales From the Darkside putting Cort against Kane in a light-hearted magic battle. Then we move onto the startlingly unfunny 1984 comedy THE SECRET DIARY OF SIGMUND FREUD featuring Cort as Freud, Kane as his (eventual) wife and some of the most disturbing IMDB trivia involving Klaus Kinski you're likely to ever hear! Can you resist listening after all that? NOPE! The post Episode 234 – Praising Kane – The Secret Diary of Sigmund Freud (1984) & Tales From The Darkside Season 1, Episode 14 ‘Snip Snip' first appeared on Cinema Smorgasbord.
