Manel Kape did everything he needed to do in order to earn a UFC flyweight title shot against Joshua Van, both in the fight and on the microphone inside the octagon. But did the incredible first-round knockout victory for "Starboy" against Brandon Royval clinch his first opportunity at UFC gold, or is Tatsuro Taira ahead of him while Alexandre Pantoja heals up? Following the final event for the UFC in 2025, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Jed Meshew react to UFC Vegas 112, Kape's sensational performance against a tough out in Royval, his wild post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, and his title hopes. Additionally, they discuss Kevin Vallejos' spinning back fist knockout of Giga Chikadze, Melquizael Costa's stoppage win to improve to 4-0 in 2025, the good, and the very bad heavyweight action throughout the card, and much more. Manel Kape had the chance to muscle his way into the flyweight title picture at UFC Vegas 112 and he more than took advantage of the opportunity. It took a little over three minutes for Kape to remind everyone he's the most dangerous knockout threat at 125 pounds as he took out Brandon Royval. Now, riding a three-fight win streak, he has his sights set on newly crowned champion Joshua Van. With a card in Van's hometown of Houston around the corner, does it make sense to throw that together ASAP? And where does that leave presumptive No. 1 contender Tatsuro Taira? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee discuss who Van is most likely to defend against first, who stole the show on the last UFC card of 2025, and who embarrassed themselves on the microphone. Additionally, we make future matchups for main card winners Kevin Vallejos, Cezary Olekziejczuk, Melquizael Costa, and King Green, and take matchup suggestions from the listeners. Odds were presented as very unlikely for either Merab Dvalishvili or Alexandre Pantoja to leave UFC 323 without their world titles, but very, very few could've predicted both would lose their championships on Saturday night. After their sizable reigns came to an end after losses to Petr Yan and Joshua Van, will they both come back to immediate rematches? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Additionally, they discuss where Van and Pantoja go after the unfortunate ending to their co-main event matchup where Van became the first UFC champ born in the 2000's, along with future matchups for fellow main card winners Tatsuro Taira following his stoppage win over Brandon Moreno, Payton Talbott after retiring Henry Cejudo, and more. UFC 323 delivered big in their last PPV event ever (or so they say). It had all the hallmarks of a great event going in with solid matchmaking and terrific stats on paper, and the action and skill level we were treated to surpassed our expectations. Nine finishes on a 14-fight card was just the beginning of the bonanza, as we also bore witness to a comeback story that might end up being called a fight of the year. Petr Yan gave a masterclass on how to defeat Merab Dvalishvili and ended up reclaiming his belt in spectacular, high level fashion.Joshua Van took the belt from Alexandre Pantoja, but it was in an anti-climactic, depressing way. Alexandre went to post on his left arm on his way down to the canvas and let's just say it didn't cooperate, snapping the entire wrong way, grossing out multitudes of fans in the process. Henry Cejudo put on a valiant effort in his bout with Payton Talbott, but was no match for the younger man, losing convincingly, despite a warrior's performance. He retired in the cage and the promotion sent him off with a montage video. Hopefully he's actually made enough to retire for real this time.Tatsuro Taira defeated Brandon Moreno via TKO, and while some declared the referee's call a mite early, it wasn't egregious and the result would almost undoubtedly have been the same if it had gone on much longer. Taira was teeing off and Moreno wasn't putting up much in the way of defense. Now that we've reviewed most of the main card, let's check out the rest of the results and bonuses while we're here.MMA Vivisection & 6th Round is a reader-supported publication. Merab Dvalishvili looks to successfully defend his title for a record-breaking fourth time in a year when he faces Petr Yan in a rematch in the main event of UFC 323. If Dvalishvili pulls it off, is it the greatest year in UFC history? And how surprising would it be if Yan delivered an upset? Ahead of Saturday's pay-per-view event, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee preview the UFC's final numbered event of the ESPN era, and the historical stakes attached in the Merab vs. Yan 2 bantamweight championship headliner. Additionally, topics include the co-main event for the flyweight title between Alexandre Pantoja and Joshua Van, how the Brandon Moreno vs. Tatsuro Taira winner factors into the championship discussion, Henry Cejudo competing for the final time, what we'll miss — and won't miss — about the UFC on ESPN pay-per-view relationship, and more. UFC star Conor McGregor hasn't competed in over four years, but with the former two-division champ officially back in the testing pool, does that enhance the belief that the sport's biggest star ever will actually compete inside the octagon in 2026? On an all-new edition of Between the Links, the panel discusses that topic — if you choose it to be talked about — and the confidence levels in a possible McGregor return to active competition. Additionally, topics may include Tatsuro Taira destroying Hyun Sung Park in the main event of UFC Vegas 108 and the Fight of the Year contenders that preceded that contest, the countdown heating up ahead of the UFC 319 main event between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev, the UFC being back at the APEX once again this Saturday for UFC Vegas 109 headlined by Anthony Hernandez vs. Roman Dolidze, and much more. Host Mike Heck moderates the matchup — with a Q&A twist — between MMA Fighting's Jed Meshew and José Youngs. Today's episode of UFC Unfiltered delivers a powerful mix of rising talent and personal triumph as Jim and Matt welcome UFC featherweight prospect Austin Bashi and DWCS hopeful Jimmy Drago. First up is Bashi, fresh off his first UFC victory — a slick first-round submission over John Yannis. He reflects on bouncing back from his debut loss, chasing a dream he's had since childhood, and what it was like mimicking Alexander Volkanovski in Diego Lopes' camp. Between guests, Jim and Matt break down highlights from UFC Fight Night: Taira vs. Park — including standout performances from Tatsuro Taira, Chris Duncan, Esteban Ribovics, and more. Then, Jimmy Drago joins ahead of his Dana White's Contender Series debut on August 12th. The Yonkers native shares his incredible story — from losing his father, a 9/11 first responder, to battling addiction and surviving eight overdoses. With sobriety, discipline, and grit, Drago turned a goal of just winning one pro fight into a legitimate UFC dream — and he's one win away from making it real when he faces Ty Miller on the first DWCS card of 2025.
Brendan Schaub discusses why he believes Dricus Du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev might be the biggest fight in UFC history, Conor McGregor's appeal being denied, Dan Hooker's beef with the UFC after they revoked his tickets to watch his teammate Kai Kara France fight, a reporter mistaking Hyunsung Park for Tatsuro Taira, Khabib Nurmagomedov leaking Islam Makhachev's fight location at MSG and much more.Shopify - https://shopify.com/schaubBRĒZ - Ready to experience the future of drinking? UFC Vegas 108 delivered a lot of action — especially on the main card, but it was the final three bouts of the UFC's return to the APEX that will steal headlines for the next few days. In the main event, Tatsuro Taira destroyed Hyun Sung Park with relative ease via second-round submission to bounce back from his lone career loss. Following the event, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Jed Meshew react to the card, Taira's spectacular performance, his post-fight interview getting awkward with Michael Bisping, and if he could get a title shot next. Additionally, they discuss the two Fight of the Year contending lightweight bouts between Chris Duncan and Mateusz Rebecki, and Esteban Ribovics and Elves Brener, other standout performances from the Fight Night event, and much more.
