Lone'er Kavanagh proved once again that fortune favors the bold. Now what does his future hold? Saturday's UFC Mexico event concluded with Kavanagh putting on a career-best performance to win a decision over two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno. Kavanagh made the most of a short-notice opportunity and is now poised to climb even higher in the rankings, but how quickly should the matchmakers push the budding prospect? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Alexander K. Lee and special guest Jed Meshew discuss what's next for Kavanagh now that he's landed firmly in the top 10 of his division. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for David Martinez, who defeated tough veteran Marlon Vera in the co-main event, the inimitable King Green after his upset knockout of Daniel Zellhuber, plus we do our best to find dance partners for up-and-coming fighters Edgar Chairez, Imanol Rodriguez, and Santiago Luna, and more. All that and a big assist from the listener picks. Follow Alexander K. Lee: @AlexanderKLee Follow Jed Meshew: @JedKMeshew Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Arman Tsarukyan did it again. On Saturday night at RAF 6, Tsarukyan wrestled influencer Georgio Poullas in a bout that quickly turned chaotic. Tsarukyan and Poullas got extremely physical during the wrestling match, with the referee repeatedly being forced to intervene as the bout blurred the lines between wrestling and Powerslap. Then, immediately after Tsarukyan won the match, he tackled Poullas and punched him, leading to a massive brawl in the arena. It was another instance of Tsarukyan letting his temper get the best of him, and will it once again lead to the UFC benching him in the lightweight title picture? Not only was Tsarukyan's outburst wild, it also overshadowed the UFC Mexico event, where Lone'er Kavanagh stepped in on short notice to handle Brandon Moreno in the main event, delivering the best performance of his career as he beat up the former two-time champion over 25 minutes. Fresh off a vicious KO loss, Kavanagh rebounded as well as possible, and is now a real player in the flyweight title picture. Following RAF 6 and UFC Mexico, MMA Fighting's Alexander K. Lee and Jed Meshew react to both events, Arman's big outburst, Kavanagh's sensational showing, whether Moreno still has title aspirations, King Green turning back the clock, and more. UFC Mexico didn't look great on paper but we did get some great moments in reality and it started with the very first bout on the card. Damien Pinas stopped Wes Schultz in opening stanza, showing fight fans that Aruba isn't just for vacations in the sun. Francis Marshall would submit Erik Silva in the first round, and Javier Reyes would make quick work of Douglas Silva de Andrade via TKO.Lacy Chiasson would take her third, straight defeat, this time at the hands of Ailin Perez, a much smaller woman who bullied her for most of the fight. One has to wonder if Lacy has hit her ceiling. Ryan Gandra finishing Jose Medina was a pretty easy prediction for many, and Gandra did it in just 41 seconds to round out the prelims. The main card saw Imanol Rodriguez stop Kevin Borjas late in round two via TKO, and King Green scored a second round TKO over Daniel Zellhuber. One has to wonder if Daniel has also found his ceiling, as this marks his third, straight loss. Finally, in a surprising twist, Lone'er Kavanagh soundly defeated Brandon Moreno via unanimous decision. Now that we've reviewed the highlights, let's check out the results and bonuses while we're here.MMA Vivisection & 6th Round is a reader-supported publication. Jim Norton and Matt Serra welcome both sides of a key lightweight matchup as Daniel Zellhuber and King Green join the show ahead of their clash at UFC Mexico City.First, Mexico's own Daniel Zellhuber discusses fighting at home in the altitude for the second time, what he learned from his Fight of the Night war in 2024, and how he's approaching a pivotal bout after back-to-back losses. The 26-year-old “Golden Boy” explains why he's hoping to face the best version of the 39-year-old veteran and what a win in front of his home crowd would mean for his career. Then, King Green calls in to give his side of the matchup. Returning to Mexico for the first time since his early days as a pro, Green reflects on how the sport — and today's young fighters — have evolved since he first broke in. He also breaks down how his experience, composure, and fight IQ factor into Saturday's showdown with Zellhuber.Plus, Jim and Matt preview and make three picks each for this Saturday's UFC Mexico City card headlined by flyweight contenders Brandon Moreno and Lone'er Kavanagh.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Manel Kape had the chance to muscle his way into the flyweight title picture at UFC Vegas 112 and he more than took advantage of the opportunity. It took a little over three minutes for Kape to remind everyone he's the most dangerous knockout threat at 125 pounds as he took out Brandon Royval. Now, riding a three-fight win streak, he has his sights set on newly crowned champion Joshua Van. With a card in Van's hometown of Houston around the corner, does it make sense to throw that together ASAP? And where does that leave presumptive No. 1 contender Tatsuro Taira? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee discuss who Van is most likely to defend against first, who stole the show on the last UFC card of 2025, and who embarrassed themselves on the microphone. Additionally, we make future matchups for main card winners Kevin Vallejos, Cezary Olekziejczuk, Melquizael Costa, and King Green, and take matchup suggestions from the listeners. Today's episode of UFC Unfiltered takes a unique look at fight week through two different lenses, as Curtis Blaydes prepares for his featured prelim bout at UFC 313 while Caio Borralho steps into a coaching role, cornering his Fighting Nerds teammate Mauricio Ruffy on the main card. Blaydes talks about his upcoming fight against UFC debutant Rizvan Kuniev, admitting he had to Google his opponent when the matchup was announced. He shares his thoughts on Kuniev's background, what he expects from him, and whether he feels like he's in a no-win situation fighting a newcomer. While Borralho isn't fighting this weekend, the Fighting Nerds captain heaps praise on Mauricio Ruffy and explains how he's locked into his role as a cornerman for his 28-year-old teammate's upcoming battle against King Green. Plus, Borralho reflects on his own recent success, including his 16-fight win streak, his grappling win over Brendan Allen, and his recent callout of middleweight legend Robert Whittaker. Finally, Jim and Matt wrap up the show with three of their own predictions for this Saturday's UFC 313 card.

The UFC's next pay-per-view event is just hours away, and the burning questions continue to rise in regards to the two championship bouts, and where each fighter goes should they leave UFC 304 with title belts around their waists. While Dana White said that the Tom Aspinall vs. Curtis Blaydes winner will get the chance to face Jon Jones or Stipe Miocic next, will it actually happen? On an all-new edition of Heck of a Morning, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck discusses the big storylines surrounding the promotion's return to Manchester, England, Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad 2, the co-main eventers needing to forget about Jones, Paddy Pimblett's pending free agency ahead of the fight with King Green, the current UFC 306 lineup at Sphere and if it's lived up to the hype, and more.
