Et pas n'importe laquelle : il perd le combat pour le titre suprême de champion du monde poids lourds, au profit de l'Américain Stipe Miocić. Francis n'a pourtant pas démérité, loin de là : il a tenu l'intégralité des cinq rounds contre le champion du monde en titre, sans être mis K.O., mais il a néanmoins subi de bout en bout, incapable de perturber la stratégie adverse, chutant souvent, et se relevant chaque fois avec un peu plus de difficulté. Mais le verdict des juges est sans appel. Francis doit céder la victoire. Il avait tellement pris l'habitude de gagner qu'il en avait oublié le goût de la défaite. Mais il ne doit pas se laisser abattre. Âgé de 26 ans, il ne se sent pas un centimètre plus proche de ses rêves de boxe qu'il ne l'était à l'âge de 14 ans devant sa télévision. Peut-être s'en est-il même encore éloigné. Tous les grands sportifs débutent leur carrière entre 15 et 20 ans. La sienne n'a pas commencé tandis qu'il se rapproche de la trentaine - et il n'aura bientôt plus de quoi payer l'abonnement de la salle de boxe de son quartier : l'impasse est complète.
