HR professionals have a huge opportunity to shape how, why and when AI is used across their organisations.Because AI is not only changing technology. It is changing jobs, skills, teams, management and the way work gets done. And HR is uniquely placed to make sure those changes work for both the organisation and its people. In this episode of HR Coffee Time, Fay is joined by People Consultant Charlotte Goulding to explore how HR professionals can help shape successful AI adoption across their organisations.Charlotte explains why HR should not wait to be invited into conversations about AI and shares how her Five People Foundations Framework can help organisations put the right people foundations in place as work changes.Together, Fay and Charlotte explore what each of these foundations means in practice, including why traditional job descriptions may no longer be enough, why managers will become even more important and how performance, recognition and HR operations may need to evolve.Charlotte also explains how HR can help organisations make thoughtful decisions about AI while keeping people, trust and culture at the heart of them.In This Episode, You'll Learn:Why HR shouldn't wait to be invited into conversations about AIThe difference between “AI for HR” and “HR for AI”How the Five People Foundations work togetherWhy skills and capabilities could become more useful than job descriptionsHow managers can support people through AI-related changeHow performance, recognition and HR operations may need to adaptChapters[0:00] Introduction: Why HR must lead AI adoption[2:01] Welcome, Charlotte Goulding[2:24] HR for AI, not just AI for HR[4:41] From pandemic hero to recent criticism[6:31] How the Five Foundations framework came about[10:42] Overview: The Five People Foundations[11:35] Foundation 1: Identity[15:34] Example: Values in your AI hiring process[19:13] Foundation 2: Clarity[23:28] Applying skills-based roles in HR[26:31] OKRs and quarterly goal-setting[28:05] Foundation 3: Enablement[29:12] Managers: the most overlooked foundation[36:51] Foundation 4: Recognition[39:01] Rethinking career progression and rewards[40:42] Foundation 5: Operations[42:22] Mapping your most critical processes[43:38] Working with Charlotte[45:37] Book recommendations[47:05] Wrap-up and outroUseful LinksConnect with Fay on LinkedInLearn about Fay's Essential HR PlannerLearn about Fay's Inspiring HR Leadership ProgrammeComplete Charlotte's free Five People Foundations diagnostic.Visit Charlotte's website: The People ThreadConnect with Charlotte Goulding on LinkedInBooks Recommended in This EpisodeHR Disrupted by Lucy AdamsBuilt for People by Jessica ZwaanHelpful Episodes to Listen to NextEp 164: Becoming More Strategic as an HR Team: Three Ways OKRs Can HelpEp 166: The Biggest HR Strategy Mistake and How to Fix It, with Dean CorbettEp 172: How One Company Helped Employees Embrace AI, with Laura MaffucciEp 173: How to Build a Better Workplace Culture (So People Thrive at Work), with Aoife O'BrienEnjoyed This Episode? When people talk about financial freedom, they often talk about it like it's one destination. Like one day you'll make enough money, save enough money, invest enough money...and suddenly you've arrived. But that's not how financial freedom works. Financial freedom isn't one moment, it's a progression. It's something you build over time through awareness, consistency, control, growth, and intentional decision-making. If you've ever felt like you're doing some things right with your money but still don't feel fully in control, there's a good chance you're in between levels. You're not where you started, but you're not where you want to be yet either. In this episode, I'm walking you through the five levels of financial freedom, how to identify where you are today, and what it takes to move to the next level. Because financial freedom isn't about perfection, it's about progress; and understanding where you are can help you focus on the next step instead of feeling overwhelmed by the entire journey. In this episode, we discuss: The 5 levels of financial freedom and what each one looks like The difference between financial awareness and financial control Why many people get stuck between knowing what to do and actually doing it How consistent money habits create financial confidence What financial control really looks like in everyday life The shift from managing money to growing money How investing, saving, and increasing income contribute to financial growth Why financial freedom looks different for everyone How to identify your current level and focus on the right next step The habits, systems, and mindset shifts needed to move forward This episode is especially helpful if you: Feel like you're making progress but aren't sure where you stand financially Want to build wealth but don't know what to focus on next Feel stuck between budgeting and long-term financial growth Want a clearer roadmap to financial freedom Are looking for a practical way to measure your financial progress Want your money to support more freedom, flexibility, and choice in your life Why this matters: One of the biggest mistakes people make with financial freedom is believing they're either "there" or they're not…but financial freedom isn't binary. It's built in stages. When you don't understand the stage you're in, it's easy to become frustrated, discouraged, or focused on the wrong things. Someone in financial instability needs something very different than someone focused on growing wealth. Someone building financial awareness has different priorities than someone working toward financial freedom. That's why understanding your current level matters. It helps you stop comparing yourself to people who are on a different part of the journey and start focusing on the habits, systems, and decisions that will move you forward. Because every level serves a purpose. The awareness creates consistency. The consistency creates control. The control creates growth. The growth creates options. Over time, those options become the foundation of financial freedom. Timestamps: [02:01] Does your money feel inconsistent or unpredictable? You're likely in the first stage of financial freedom: instability. [05:35] When you know what you should be doing with your money but you're not doing it – this is a common place where a lot of women get stuck. [09:57] Control does not mean perfection. Just because you have control of your money doesn't mean things won't come up. The biggest difference is those things don't derail you. [15:40] You have enough money and enough control of your money to decide how you spend your time and where you spend your life…this is financial freedom. Resources Mentioned: Request a free money call with Raya City Girl Savings Personal Finance Portfolio Financial Focus Coaching Program I want you to ask yourself one simple question: Where am I right now? Not where you want to be. Not where you think you should be. Not where someone else says you should be. Where are you today? Because once you're honest about your current level, you can focus on what actually matters next. You don't need to master every aspect of money all at once. You don't need to jump from financial instability to financial freedom overnight. Real progress happens when you focus on the next right step. The next habit. The next decision. The next level. If you're feeling stuck between levels, or you've built some momentum but aren't sure how to keep moving forward, support can make all the difference. Sometimes the breakthrough isn't working harder. It's having the right structure, the right systems, and the right guidance to help you see what comes next. Financial freedom isn't something you arrive at by accident. It's something you build intentionally, one decision at a time. You're not behind, you're building. That consistency compounds, and the steady work you're doing now is shaping your next level.

The very first Refill is officially in the books... and I still can't stop smiling. In this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of the day, sharing my favorite moments, what surprised me, what made me emotional, and why this event meant so much to me. If you were there, this is a chance to relive it together. If you couldn't make it, I hope this gives you a glimpse into what Refill is all about. We talk about what it looked like to gather a room full of women who simply wanted to slow down, move their bodies, connect with each other, and spend a day filling their own cups instead of constantly pouring into everyone else. I also share: The moments that made all the planning worth it. What attendees loved most about the experience. Behind-the-scenes stories you didn't see on social media. Lessons I'll be taking into future Refill events. Why creating spaces for women to rest, reconnect, and feel supported matters so much. Whether you've been following Refill from the beginning or are just hearing about it for the first time, I hope this episode reminds you that taking care of yourself isn't selfish. It's necessary. Don't Miss the Next Refill Missed this one? We'd absolutely love to see you at the next Refill.

When you spot a problem at work, how quickly does your mind start coming up with solutions?Welcome to Day 4 of The Strategic HR Sprint, a free five-day experience to help you build your confidence and skills in being strategic in your HR role.Join the sprint for free and access all five episodes, worksheets and resources here: https://brightskyhr.co.uk/sprintOne of the most important parts of being strategic is taking the time to understand what is really driving a challenge before deciding how to respond. It is easy to assume that the answer is training, a new policy, more people or better pay. But if you have not explored what is really causing the challenge, you could invest time and energy in an idea that only treats the symptoms.Getting to the root cause helps you make better decisions about where HR can have the greatest impact and identify actions that are more likely to create lasting improvements. In this episode, you'll learn how to stay curious for longer and use a simple technique called the Five Whys to explore the challenge you identified during Day 3.In This Episode, You'll Learn:Why understanding the root cause is an important part of being strategicHow to use the Five Whys techniqueHow to avoid treating a symptom instead of the underlying causeWhy involving people who are close to the challenge can lead to better insightsHow to ask “why” without sounding critical or pushyYour Day 4 ActivityToday's worksheet will help you explore the challenge you chose during Day 3 and identify what may be causing it.You'll work through the Five Whys, think about where HR could have the biggest influence and note down your first ideas for how the challenge could be addressed. You might also find it helpful to talk the challenge through with someone who sees or experiences it day to day, as they may notice things that are easy to miss from your perspective.Once you have completed the worksheet, you can also use the optional AI prompt to suggest practical HR and People initiatives, including quick wins and longer-term ideas. Before using the prompt, remember to remove or change anything that could identify your organisation or the people involved.Access all the sprint resources here:https://brightskyhr.co.uk/sprintChapters[00:00] – Welcome to Day 4 of The Strategic HR Sprint[01:09] – A recap of the sprint so far[01:42] – Why we jump straight to solutions[02:41] – Staying curious for longer[03:03] – How the Five Whys works[03:37] – Finding the right starting point[04:45] – The employee turnover example[06:10] – Your Day 4 worksheet[07:18] – Involving other people[07:43] – How to ask “why” without sounding critical[08:51] – Using the optional AI prompt[09:34] – Protecting confidential information[10:42] – What to expect from Day 5Useful LinksJoin the free Strategic HR Sprint: https://brightskyhr.co.uk/sprint/Connect with Fay Wallis on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/faywallis/The Essential HR Planner: https://essentialhrplanner.co.uk/Learn about the Inspiring HR Leadership Programme: https://brightskyhr.co.uk/hr-leadership-course/Helpful Episodes to Listen to NextEp 174 | Free 5-Day Strategic HR Sprint (Struggling to Be Strategic? When there are dozens of things you could be working on, how do you decide what deserves your attention most?Welcome to Day 3 of The Strategic HR Sprint, a free five-day learning experience designed to help you strengthen your strategic thinking in just 10–15 minutes each day.Join The Strategic HR Sprint for free: brightskyhr.co.uk/sprintIn today's episode, you'll identify one important challenge to focus on for the rest of the sprint.Drawing on an insight from Richard Rumelt's book Good Strategy/Bad Strategy, Fay explains why good strategy isn't a long list of everything an organisation could do. It requires focus: understanding the challenges being faced and directing time and energy towards the ones that matter most. You'll explore different ways to identify a worthwhile challenge, whether that means looking at your organisation's strategy, reflecting on what you discovered about the external environment during Day 2, reviewing HR data or noticing the frustrations that repeatedly arise in conversations with managers and employees.Your chosen challenge doesn't have to affect the entire organisation. If you're earlier in your HR career, it could be something closer to your own role that you can influence. What matters is choosing an area where you have the opportunity to make a positive difference. In This Episode, You'll Learn:Why being strategic includes deciding what not to focus onHow to identify the challenges behind your organisation's strategic prioritiesWhere to look for ideas if your organisation doesn't have a clear or up-to-date strategyHow external trends, HR data and recurring workplace frustrations can highlight important challengesThe question that can help you decide which challenge to prioritiseWhy there isn't an optional AI prompt for today's activityChapters[00:00] Welcome to Day 3 of The Strategic HR Sprint[01:09] Recapping Days 1 and 2[01:30] What good strategy looks like in practice[02:52] Identifying one challenge worth focusing on[03:42] Using your organisation's strategy[04:43] What to do if the strategy isn't helpful[05:14] Learning from data and recurring frustrations[05:34] Choosing the challenge with the greatest potential impact[06:15] Why today's activity doesn't include an AI prompt[06:38] Share how you're getting onResources MentionedJoin The Strategic HR Sprint for free: brightskyhr.co.uk/sprintGood Strategy/Bad Strategy: The Difference and Why It Matters by Richard RumeltUseful LinksJoin the free Strategic HR SprintConnect with Fay Wallis on LinkedInThe Essential HR PlannerLearn about the Inspiring HR Leadership ProgrammeHelpful Episodes to Listen to NextEp 174 | Free 5-Day Strategic HR Sprint (Struggling to Be Strategic? Max Holloway and Conor McGregor's rematch at UFC 329 raises just as many questions as it provided answers. The former UFC champions met in a rematch 13 years in the making, with McGregor returning to action for the first time since 2021, but there was little satisfaction for either fighter as McGregor was forced to bow out with an apparent knee injury just 69 seconds into the contest. Holloway got the win, but didn't get the chance to put on a bounce-back performance after his recent loss to Charles Oliveira. And McGregor? He didn't even get to fight and with one more bout left on his UFC contract and potentially another long layoff ahead of him, his future is murkier than ever. On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee discuss where Holloway and McGregor can possibly go from here, with both fighters likely done for 2026. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for Paddy Pimblett, who arguably stole the show with a stunning submission of Benoit Saint Denis, plus main card winners Mario Bautista, Brandon Royval, and King Green. We also dig into the prelims to figure out what's next for Robert Whittaker in his light heavyweight journey, and how the UFC should build blue-chip heavyweight prospect Gable Steveson. President Trump appropriately responded militarily this week to attacks by the Iranian regime on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The episode underscores, however, what is certain to be repeated by our enemies in Tehran if they remain in power. The reason is only partly because Iran's jihadists view a “humiliation ritual” as their strongest weapon for winning by defeating President Trump politically in the looming November midterms. Another impetus is Iran's Chinese puppet-master, Xi Jinping, wants the Mideast war to continue as it distracts America from his incremental, but intensifying, efforts to take Taiwan. The latest step tees up a quarantine or blockade as PRC Coast Guard vessels have begun conducting “law enforcement operations” in so-called “Chinese coastal waters” east of the island. We must finish the job in Iran now, and prepare urgently for the next one in the Pacific. This is Frank Gaffney.

Future Force (1989) Director: David A. Prior Cast: David Carradine, Dawn Wildsmith, Robert Tessier, William ZippThe Power Glove is on the cover. David Carradine is visibly drunk. The future is 1991. Welcome to Future Force — the Action International Pictures masterpiece that had one genuinely cool idea and then locked it in the trunk of a Jeep Cherokee for 80% of the runtime. This week on Dewey Pod Monster, John and Sean wade through a whole shit ton of denim, some truly baffling bounty hunter logic, and a third act so magnificently stupid it almost — almost — makes the rest of it worth it.In this episode, we discuss:The Glove Is Ready. David Carradine Is Not. — The Nintendo Power Glove from hell is literally on the movie poster, shoots cartoon lightning, and can rip the hood off a car. So why does Carradine reach for a revolver 90% of the time? We break down one of the great criminal undersells in low-budget action cinema history. Is He Drunk in This Shot? (Yes. Also the Next One.) — A scene-by-scene investigation into whether David Carradine was on the sauce during filming. Spoiler: the answer changes shot to shot, sometimes within the same scene. The dubbing gives it away. So do the eyes.Bounty Hunters Who Call Themselves Cops — The future of law enforcement is a Civilian Operated Police System run by schlubby dirtbags in denim vests, and the movie expects you to just roll with it. It's basically Escape From New York if nobody cared. We dig into the world-building that Future Force absolutely refuses to do.Watch Check the Movie — At under 84 minutes, Future Force somehow still manages to feel like it's aging you in real time. We discuss what makes a movie genuinely boring versus entertainingly bad — and whether this one earns its place in the garbage canon. We Also Talked About:Andre Is an Idiot (2025) (Netflix) — A surprisingly heartfelt documentary following a self-described idiot ad exec who gets a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis and decides to film the whole journey. Sean got personal. Strongly recommended.Widow's Bay (Apple TV+) — A horror comedy Sean has been watching in secret and then re-watching with his wife like he's never seen it. Season 2 just got announced. It's getting good.DBX 286S Mic Preamp/Channel Strip (Amazon) — Sean bought a professional mic preamp to make himself sound better on gaming calls with friends who absolutely do not care what he sounds like. He spent considerable time configuring it, troubleshooting a KVM switch, and engineering a solution to a problem he created. No regrets. Many settings.Smokey and the Bandit (1977) (Amazon)— John gave it a rewatch. Burt Reynolds drives fast, Sally Field escapes a wedding, and there's a brief song about Bandit getting laid. It holds up for what it is.Assault on Devil's Island (1997) (Youtube) — AKA Shadow Warriors. Hulk Hogan, Carl Weathers, Shannon Tweed, and a wig that deserves its own IMDb credit. Hogan is billed as Terry "Hulk" Hogan — yes, with the quotes. Yes, it's a TV movie rated R. Yes, John will probably watch the sequel.Living for the City (Podcast) (Apple Podcasts) — A Detroit music history podcast that John cannot stop recommending. Six episodes in, already deep into hip hop, electronic music, and the Bob Seger effect. Bird dogs come and go over a hunting life, and every new puppy is a chance to do it better than the last. Fresh off bringing home a new setter pup, Nick Larson sits down with Steve Snell of Gun Dog Supply to talk through what 50-plus dogs have taught Steve about raising the next one, from the first weeks at home to a lifetime in the field. It had been since 2018 — episode #12 — that Steve was last on the show, and a lot of ground gets covered here. The conversation opens on bird dog safety: heat and when to call a hunt, the real risk math on rattlesnakes versus ticks, and the hazard most owners underrate (porcupines, not snakes). From there it works its way through nearly every stage of a dog's life — breed selection, the first few weeks with a puppy, crate training, sound exposure, table work, and the gear that actually matters — before closing on Garmin's new TT25 beeper and why Steve runs mini flex bands on every dog he owns. A throughline keeps surfacing: the hunter's job is to make good decisions on the dog's behalf, because the dog won't make them for itself. Expect to Learn: - Why Steve sees protecting the dog as the hunter's responsibility — the dog won't protect itself. - How heat, sun, wind, and terrain change the call on whether to run a dog at all. - Why porcupines may be a bigger day-to-day problem than the rattlesnakes everyone fears. - How Steve thinks about matching a breed to where and how you actually hunt. - What Steve focuses on in a puppy's first few weeks, and why he keeps sessions to five or ten minutes. - Why he raises every dog inside the house, and how exposure to noise, crates, kids, and vehicles builds a bulletproof dog. - The only two pieces of gear Steve insists on for a new puppy — and why a drag line does so much work. - What's new with Garmin's TT25 beeper, and why Steve recommends a mini flex band for every bird dog. Frequently Asked: When should you stop hunting a bird dog in the heat? Steve uses roughly 65 degrees as his cutoff in Texas and says he'll never run a dog over 70 when it's sunny with no wind. The number isn't fixed — humidity, cloud cover, and wind all change it. His larger point: bird dogs won't quit on their own, so it's on the hunter to make the call, even when that means not hunting at all. What's the most underrated danger for a bird dog in the field? Porcupines, in Steve's experience. Snakes get treated as the boogeyman, but porcupine encounters are far more frequent, and they smell appealing to a pointing dog. The real trouble is the dog that doesn't learn its lesson — the one that goes back for revenge. He'd take a skunk encounter over a porcupine any day. How do you choose the right bird dog breed? Steve's rule is to match the breed to where and how you actually hunt the majority of the time — not to the breed you find most appealing. He also starts his search geographically, buying pointers out of lines hunted in tough country like Texas, Oklahoma, and the Southwest, because a dog bred where you hunt is built for it. What should you do with a bird dog puppy in the first few weeks? Steve keeps it simple and short. Sessions run five to ten minutes, broken up across the day, so the puppy never gets burned out or sour. He focuses on self-control and exposure over drills, and he always leaves them wanting more — and he prefers raising the dog inside the house from day one. Notable Quotes: "To me it's the hunter's responsibility to protect the dog 'cause the dog's not gonna protect himself." — Steve Snell "Developing a puppy — that's my favorite part of the game." — Steve Snell Resources Mentioned: - Steve Snell's "7 Puppy Tips" puppy-raising article (Gun Dog Supply): https://www.gundogsupply.com/2026-04-23-7-puppy-tips.html - Garmin TT25 Mini (the beeper/collar Steve discussed): https://www.gundogsupply.com/garmin-tt25-mini.html Follow Steve: Gun Dog Supply — https://www.gundogsupply.com Follow Nick: Instagram @birdshot.podcast — https://BirdshotPodcast.com Listen: - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/17EVUDJPwR2iJggzhLYil7 - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/birdshot-podcast/id1288308609 - YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkIF3w6P9rkuciwX-jEMG3g Support the Show: - onX Hunt — use code BSP20 to save 20% on your onX Hunt subscription. - Trulock Chokes — use code BS10 to save 10%.
