FREE EPISODE ALERT!! FREE EPISODE ALERT!! FREE EPISODE ALERT!!A lot has happened since our last episode so we tried to cram it all in a neat package. First, we went over the absolutely phenomenal cards that were Bellator 301 and UFC Vegas 82. Bellator saw two new champions crowned but never let on that the PFL purchase revelation was just two days away. They kept their secret in the most impenetrable vault.Bloody Elbow is fighting for the sport, the fighters and the fans. If you share our mission, please consider becoming a paid subscriber today.UFC Vegas 82 was also a great card. Top to bottom, the event delivered all manner of submissions and some gnarly knockouts, as well. In practice, it performed so much better than it did on paper. One thing is clear, and that is Paul Craig's ceiling. We also discussed the latest developments in the UFC antitrust case. Zuffa, UFC, et al are not fairing well with their motions. The honorable Judge Boulware indicated that he was going to deny their motion for summary judgement. He also denied their motion to reopen discovery and then he did something nobody was expecting—he put injunctive relief back on the table for the plaintiffs if they win. Finally, in our bonus section (which is FREE today), we welcomed back Bloody Elbow's Tim Bissell for a Sumo Stomp update of the Kyushu basho, which is in the last days now. Find out how those ozeki jitters affected some of the wrestlers and what's going on with the ‘Angry Hamster'. If you're a budding Sumo fan, this is a can't-miss episode.Thank you for reading this article and listening to the podcast. This week we take a lap around the combat sports world, including the results of UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Craig, Francis Ngannou's WBC ranking, Bloody Elbow's fighter pay analysis stemming from the Le vs. Zuffa anti-trust lawsuit, and more, in the first half of the episode. Then we look at the results of the last confirmed Bellator event, the upcoming PFL 2023 finals, and wonder if those two crazy kids will ever get together. Catch us Wednesday nights at 6:30pm on CFMU 93.3 FM, and online at http://www.thehammermma.com, The Itunes Store, MMAPodcast.com, Player.FM, find @SteveJeffery on Twitter or just email us.
Petesy Carroll is joined by journalist John S. Nash who has been at the forefront of the reportage of a class action lawsuit in which over 1200 fighters are suing Zuffa for billions of dollars in wages. Last week, the ninth circuit court of appeals denied Zuffa's request to appeal the lawsuit, which means there is one less hurdle for the class action to go to trial on April 8. Nash sheds light on the impact the lawsuit has already had on how the UFC do business and how a successful trial for the plaintiffs could result in even greater changes to the promotion. Find John S. Nash (@heynottheface) on Twitter.

Yves Edwards joined the LytesOut team for a #FiftyFightClub #DEEPDIVE.Edwards, originally from the Bahamas, moved to Texas where he started into the Mixed Martial Arts while in his teens. Edwards fought early and often and he quickly established himself as one of the top lightweights in the world. Unfortunately, the UFC scrapped the lightweight division for several years and Edwards was never given the chance to fight for a UFC title. Since then, he has been almost universally acknowledged as the "uncrowned" light champion during the early years of Zuffa. Here, you get the real Yves Edwards - funny, forthcoming and honest. We couldn't finish his entire career, so this interview encompasses his rise and ends at the legendary UFC fight with Josh Thompson. Yves will be back for a part 2 in the very near future. Thanks Yves, as always, it was great just hanging out.Subscribe to the Lytes Out Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnyrswDJ9PkNHqFLOMfIdZw Socials: Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/lytesoutpodcast/ iTunes - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/lytes-out-podcast/id1568575809 Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/3q8KsfqrSQSjkdPLkdtNWb Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/LytesOutPodcast/ Cash App - $mikedavis1231 Venmo - Mike-Davis-63 ZEILE: Cutthroatmma@gmail.com / ph#: 773-491-65052 Follow the #LOP team on Instagram: Chris - @chrislightsoutlytle Mike - @mikedavis632 Miguel - @iturratemSupport the show
As legendary race car driver Ricky Bobby famously said “If you're not first then you're last.” Or as the common phrase goes “always the bridesmaid, never the bride.” Or maybe you prefer the saying “to the victor go the spoils.” You get the idea. In mixed martial arts, being second place really sucks. You get a broken jaw and half of your paycheck while your opponent gets that shiny belt around their waist, the love of fans, and a boost to their bank account via pay per view points. While doing well enough to earn a title shot is an accomplishment in and of itself, it pales in comparison to actually succeeding and being number one. Imagine the heartbreak of coming so close to your goal only to come up short in that high pressure moment. But in today's video, we honor those legend's struggle who tragically came in 2nd place. Yep, this one is gonna hurt a little.
